> The Adventures of The Dash > by Silver Inkwell > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Lightning Strikes and Hospital Talk/ Conversation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a bright and sunny early morning in the Canterlot Public High School and all was quite well with it and the city and the whole entire world. Well, all was well, except for a certain student named Rainbow Dash who ran in a hurry down the halls of this vast and regal renowned school anxious to not be late for her classes, “Sorry!” she said bumping into a few stragglers like herself who also did not want to be late to class, but like her would probably fail in this attempt. And so it was that just as the bell rang she entered her first class of the day, science. “Late again as always and usual Miss Dash, but do please take a seat, we have much to discuss and learn here today,” the teacher Mr. Fair said in a cold calm cruel uncaring voice. “But I got here just as the bell rang,” she complained loudly as she took her seat. “Yes, you did, but the rules state specifically that you must be in your seat before the bell rings and not after, but I think that I can and will ignore this great offense if you will only try to pay attention and listen to me.” And with that said he started class as she (and many others) struggled to just stay awake and she barely focused on him at all or payed attention and only responded to questions and other phrases when she needed to. After class ended he stopped her for a moment, “I would like to speak to you after school today Miss Dash if you can spare me the time.” “Sure thing,” she said, “I don’t have soccer practice today so I should be fine.” “Soccer,” he said very simply and plainly, “Is a frivolous game like any other, and while I understand the need for humans to amuse themselves shortly and temporarily it is still a pointless pursuit compared to the great vast field that man has uncovered and explored that is simply known as science.” “Um yeah, sure thing,” she said not knowing how to respond to yet another one of his famous inspiring and yet still wise and deep little speeches. “Very well then,” he said, “After school, and don’t worry about being late, just worry about coming here, now then you better go before you’re late for yet another class, and I also do not wish to explain myself to the other teachers.” “Yes sir!” Rainbow Dash said trotting off down the hallway to her next class. Her next class was history, and once more again was boring just like the class that she had left (and could even be clearly seen and evidenced by the many or few who did somehow manage to fall asleep with their faces on the desk). After that it was Lunch and then Literature or Writing and then finally Art. (She had a two-day schedule where she took different classes every day so it worked out for her quite well enough indeed,) After her last and final class of the day she took a nervous deep breath and went into the science classroom to see the teacher, Mr. Fair. “Well hello there, Miss Dash,” he said (and in case you were wondering he has this policy where he calls students by their last name since they were growing up into adults), “I am glad to see that you have come for I have something very important and urgent that I must discuss with you. You see, your grades…” And once he said those words she knew for certain and sure that this wasn’t good at all, “Your grades, they are very low,” he continued onwards, “And if you are to pass this class and school, and you must if you want to have options to go anywhere in this life, well you must find a way to bring them back up once more again. And I know that you can do it because I see great potential within you as I do with every student who walks through these halls or enters my class seeking knowledge and wisdom and power. You can be great if you will only try to find and discover your true purpose and destiny. Do you understand what I am telling you, Miss Dash?” “Yes,” she said, “And don’t worry, I’ll find a way to bring my grades back up again, I can promise you that, and I’ll try thinking of some things.” Mr. Fair smiled deviously, “Well I already actually have an idea of how you can get started for that, you can call it ‘Bonus Points’ if you want to, but I rather would prefer to see it as a way that I can held students who need it most.” “Really?” Rainbow Dash said with surprise “Great! But what is it exactly?” “I want you to experiment with the lab materials to try to find a way to make the world better by improving upon it or something within it, perhaps maybe I can even suggest something to do with energy and paper?” “I have literally no clue or idea of what you just said.” “Look,” he said handing her a printed piece of paper, “Just follow what’s on the page and you’ll be fine, and to pass you cannot ask for any help, not even mine, besides, I would rather be watching the new particle accelerator open up on TV, they say that it’s going to change the world in everything that we think or know, they’ll be better ways of energy and understanding it and using it. It will be truly revolutionary, and to think that the one behind it all, the very basic idea and concept was a woman, which just goes to show how far you can go in something like a field or job if you just push yourself hard enough. Now then if you will please excuse me I must leave now. Thank you for your time and should you ever need my help in the future just ask, my door is always open to you and my students and to whomever may want to learn for themselves what great power science holds for them.” And with that said he left leaving Rainbow Dash all alone. Great, she thought, now what am I going to do? I don’t have any help and can’t get any either and if I fail this ‘bonus’ assignment or homework I have no idea what will or might happen to me, plus I also don’t want to disappoint him. He seemed really genuine and true with his words that he spoke to me. And with those thoughts in her head she tried to focus on her work. But eventually after many minutes she decided to stop and give up and go home, but before she did she decided to turn on the TV on in the room just to see what Mr. Fair had been talking about since she was curious naturally enough (and in case you were wondering why they just had a TV in the room there, well please don’t ask, just don’t, but long answer short, it was basically ONLY for educational purposes and had all kind of blocks and filters on it). “We are here in Downtown Crystal City,” the female news reporter said, “Coming to you live as the long awaited Scientific Tower of the Advancement of Research and Technology or START Labs which was developed many years ago by the famous scientist Lightning Dust who was also a woman and while being heavily criticized for even thinking of such an idea at the time she now stands here with us today to bask in the glory of her new creation and idea which has taken many years of hard work, time, effort, energy and money to build. Fortunately we have scheduled some time with her for a few last final thoughts and words before she goes in to finally activate and start this reactor, the time is now yours,” she said holding the microphone to her. “Thanks Iris, well I would just like to say that what we have here will not only change this city, but also the world and what it thinks of science, and my plans for this tower is that I must keep it running as long as possible for the good of the future so I just want to thank everyone who supported this idea, thank you for your time, your effort, your imagination and ideas and hard work, and most importantly of all, your money,” she said with a nervous laugh, “Your names will not be lost or forgotten for you will live within this piece of scientific work. Anyhow that’s all I have to say and I will see you once this is done.” And with that said the light sky blue skin colored woman with orange and yellow hair with strange and mysterious golden yellow eyes that seemed odd and unusual to Rainbow Dash when she looked at them very closely enough, but she didn’t have time to go over the details as the news went on. “Well we just want to thank Miss Dust for her kind and inspiring words today and wish to say that we understand that her work is more important to her than staying for any kind of interview for the news, and now it’s back to you.” “Thanks Iris,” Joe said very calmly, “And now for the latest and current updates with the world…” and with that they droned on about something ‘important’ and ‘urgent’ and ‘dire’, but to be honest she could care less. She wanted to leave for her home now, but she also wanted to stay to see if there was anything worth watching on this channel anyways. And so she shrugged and set down her backpack, she did have a relatively light load of homework today, and so she could afford to lose some time on this. And so she watched as the scene developed and unfolded around her. And very soon enough something interesting did eventually happen there. “Wait,” the reporter said, “We’re getting a message and update from the tower that it is failing, repeat the tower systems are failing, expect collateral damage. So it seems like the experiment is not going that well, and I honestly think that we should probably back up and away now,” she said trying to move away. But before she could there was a very large explosion and boom, and even from the science room where she stood she still felt the rumble beneath her feet. “Apparently the shield protecting the tower is collapsing, and I think that you can all run for your lives now,” and with that she ran. And then Rainbow Dash decided to look outside over by the window and she saw a very large golden yellow beam of light reaching up far up high into the sky out of sight and distance and then she saw a wave of something coming towards her and then she too decided to try and run. But she didn’t make it very far before the wave of energy and light hit her, in fact she couldn’t even make it to the door before a bolt of lightning hit her right in the chest and then sent her straight into a very deep sleep. After the lightning strike not much was clear and she couldn’t remember anything while she was in the coma, but later on her friends and the doctors had told her that due to some luck and the intervention of Mr. Fair and the principals of the school and even Lightning Dust herself she had been saved. Mr. Fair had quickly called the principal, Celestia, to ask her to go check on his student who he knew that the last location she should be in was his classroom and reluctantly she agreed to do so only for the sake and reason that he cared for his student’s safety, and also because of the paperwork involved too. And when asked why he left school he just looked down in some slight shame, “The school is open to students after it is done, and I don’t control what they do or even how long they stay, and I wasn’t getting paid to stay after either so I left instead just like I do every day at four, I mean you can’t expect any more from me, can you? I mean I didn’t know that this would or even could happen to her, but if I did… I would have stayed with her instead to try and stop it.” “I know you would have,” Celestia said, “But we can’t change her past, we can only affect the present and hope for the best in the future.” “I just I wish that I could have been there for her to help her out.” “I know that you do, but all we can do for her now is pray, and have faith and hope, and don’t hold all the blame on yourself, that’s just bad for you.” “I know that I shouldn’t,” he said, “But I can’t, and that’s why I have little to no hope or faith for her, I am a man of science after all, I rely on the numbers and statistics, not some blind faith even though I know what benefits it can bring to the mental mind and the emotions of the heart too.” “Perhaps maybe it is time that you start believing in something.” “Or perhaps maybe someone instead, and you don’t need just hope in this sad and desperate situation of yours that you face now,” a voice said behind them. And then they all turned to see Lighting Dust standing there. “What are you doing here?” Luna asked. “I’m here to ensure Rainbow Dash’s safety and protection of her life, and I am also here to redeem myself, ever since the night of the particle accelerator accident things have been so very hard on me, but I am now trying to bring myself up from the ashes of that night and save all those who it may have harmed, so please, just give me the chance to help you by helping her. The doctors, they don’t know what’s wrong and up with him, she’s been in a coma for a month now and they still have nothing to help her at all yet. But I can, but only if you give me the chance and opportunity.” Celestia gazed at Luna with a pondering look and then at Lightning Dust. “And if we do agree to your help, what terms and conditions does that entail for us and her exactly?” she said. “Firstly, I will need your full trust, secondly, I will have to locate her to my tower, it’s the only place that can help her out now, and my team will be more than willing and ready to help her out in every way possible and all that they can, and don’t worry, I’ll give you their personal contacts. Thirdly, you must accept that I may not be able to save her, and fourth and finally last of all, you must not tell anyone of this, do you understand?” Celestia nodded, “Yes, we understand and agree to these terms and conditions, but if anything happens to her, that will fall badly upon all of us, you most of all, so if I even hear a rumor or whisper that she is hurt, then you will pay.” “I have no doubt that you will make good on your threat or promise,” she said, “But you should also be warned that I am a very powerful person with access to many resources and while my tower may have been shut down and off due to safety reasons, it does not mean that there are not those or ones ready and willing to help me out, as I said before I have a team, and they are very smart people, now then with your permission and the proper paperwork for the doctors I will take Rainbow Dash away to my tower to try and heal her.” “Of course,” she said, “You can, but I already think that you do have the proper paperwork at hand unless I am quite wrong and mistaken?” Celestia said. “You think right then,” she said holding out the paperwork, “Just sign your names at the dotted lines, everything else has already been filled out for you.” “I’m guessing that you already know our personal information?” she said signing the paper. “Of course,” she said handing the paperwork to Luna who very reluctantly signed, “I always make it a habit of mine to know the history of all my friends and enemies, but luckily enough for you, you are not on either list.” “Why is being on either list bad?” she said curiously. “Because I have no loyalty to even my friends,” she said. Celestia was shocked and surprised at this piece of new information. “Shocked and surprised? I don’t blame you, and most would react that way when they heard this, but you see I am telling you the honest truth now so that you do not feel betrayed later on, it’s my own personal moral and value to always tell the absolute truth, especially in matters of science, the heart, and finally the mind and soul, but no matter, the paperwork is filled out now and that is all that I needed, I really hope that you have a good day and I really hope that I can and may see more of you very soon in the nearby future.” “Wait,” Celestia said, “How soon are you going to move her?” “If all goes well and according to plan I should have her out in two to three weeks just because of the stupid waiting time for all this paperwork to be sorted out, now then if you will please excuse me, I have far more important matters to attend to, good day ladies, it was a very nice visit that we had.” And with that said Lightning Dust finally left and just as she did more doctors rushed into Rainbow Dash’s room to help her out. “I don’t understand,” one of them said, “She’s still alive yet the monitors all still stay that she doesn’t have any heartbeat, how is any of this this even possible? I mean there’s a lot of stuff and things out there that just don’t make any kind of sense at all… but this… this has to take the top spot on my list.” “I don’t know,” another one said, “But I heard that they’ll be moving her very soon, but not to another hospital or room, but somewhere else instead.” “Where is this place that they are moving her to exactly?” “START Labs, or rather Lightning Labs as they’re calling it now.” “When did they start calling it that?” “Ever since the night of the particle accelerator accident.” “Huh, who knew that?” “I did, now then she should be fine for now, but honestly I am kind of relieved that she is being taken off our hands if she is in the care of someone who will now how to help her out and heal her better than we ever could, even if that person just so happens to be the one that caused so much destruction to Crystal City, even if it’s the person who caused the death of my wife.” “Hey man, you can’t hold her death over his head and you can’t hold onto your pain and grief either, you just need to let it go.” “I know that I should, but I just can’t, I just wish that I could.” “I know man, I know.” And with that said the two doctors remained silent and worked quietly to help Rainbow Dash out as much as they could with their limited knowledge and power and resources and access. But Celestia and Luna didn’t hear the doctor’s little conversation, and neither did Mr. Fair or Rainbow Dash. But this will be important to remember later on for reasons yet to come in the story, but I think that I have been on the doctors for too long now, back to the real people that you should focus on. Celestia and Luna looked at the doctors as they tried to help Rainbow Dash out as much as they possibly could with their limited knowledge, resources and access and failing at it very much, a lot. “Do you think that we made the right choice?” Luna said. “I do not know little sister, but I hope that we did, I really do, and for now, that’s all that we can do, the rest is in the hands of Lightning Dust.” And with that said they stared in silence at the sleeping form of Rainbow Dash as she lay in her bed not moving, and at that very moment they all wished that she could and would wake up right then even if it cost the whole entire world. > Nine Months Later... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Nine Months Later… It was about nine months later (round about and approximately a very rough estimation) when Rainbow Dash finally woke up from her coma at last. “Hey Spitfire,” a boy’s voice said (the first thing that she heard and later on could even remember and recall), “Come over here now, I think that she’s finally waking up, I mean her eyelids are moving, and now she’s making some kind of strange unusual face at me, oh, I think that she’s just waking up.” “The face isn’t that odd when you consider it and compare it to yourself,” a girl said back to the boy who stood over her (or so she assumed, and she was right, he was leaning over her bed even if she hadn’t opened her eyes to see yet). That was the second thing that she remembered and later on recalled, but not the last and certainly not the most important or relevant piece of information. “You take back right now,” the boy said. “Never,” the girl said, “And you can’t make me either.” “Alright,” the boy said, “Fine then, you win this time, but next time I’ll get you.” Rainbow Dash groaned as she very slowly got up from her bed. “Hey there, easy,” the boy said putting his arms behind her back and gently easing her back down on the bed to rest, “You just suffered a major injury and you need to rest, but do you think that you can open your eyes now?” Rainbow Dash did so and saw a blue skinned boy with blue hair and green eyes and he was smiling at her very kindly, “My name is Soarin,” he said, “And it’s finally nice to see you awake, it sure has been quite a while you know.” “How long was I out?” Rainbow Dash groaned as she tried to get up. “Nine months,” Soarin said, “That lightning bolt really did a number on you and ever since then you’ve been here with us under our care.” “And where is here exactly?” Rainbow Dash groaned. “STORM Labs,” the girl said coming over and she noted that she had yellowish skin with fiery orange hair and golden eyes, “The name’s Spitfire, and it’s also nice to finally see you awake, and I’m sure that you have a lot of questions, but don’t worry, we will try to answer them, and Lightning Dust as well too.” “Wait,” Rainbow Dash said, “Lightning Dust? Isn’t she a scientist?” “Yes, she is, but she’s also the one who was so kind and generous enough to take care of you when no one else would,” Spitfire said with a slight smile. “And why would that be exactly? Couldn’t the doctors do that?” “No, they couldn’t, they didn’t know what was happening with you.” “It was only a lightning bolt, I mean it wasn’t like it was anything special or unique or different, right?” Rainbow Dash said grinning at them. “Right?” she said nervously when they didn’t answer her for quite some long time. “No, it was all that, the lightning bolt wasn’t natural, it was caused by the explosion of the particle accelerator, and ever since the night of the accident you have been unconscious, and of course you have been here for a while too.” “Well then, that’s just great,” Rainbow said to Spitfire, “But what about school? What about Celestia and Luna and the whole entire school? What happened?” “They’re all fine,” she said, “It’s just you that we have to worry about now, but since you’re awake now I guess that things will start to change again.” “Yeah, I guess that they will now, won’t they?” Rainbow Dash said. “Yes, for one Lightning Dust is going to be very pleased when she hears this.” “You keep on mentioning her, but where is she exactly?” Rainbow Dash said. “Out on her business as usual, she does have important things and stuff to do,” Soarin said as he idly tossed a rubber ball into the air repeatedly. “Stop that,” Spitfire said taking the ball away from him at once. “Hey,” he said, “Give that back to me right now, it’s not just a toy you know, it also helps me concentrate and focus just like your music can and does too.” “I know that,” she said, “But you need to find something else that’s completely different before it’s too late, we wouldn’t want you becoming addicted to this thing, now would we? After all, something bad could happen to it.” “You wouldn’t dare,” Soarin said with a very friendly playful growl. “Oh you never know, I just might,” she said very playfully. “When are you two ever going to stop fighting?” A very familiar voice suddenly said, and Rainbow Dash slowly lifted her head to see that it was Lightning Dust that stood there with a look of not quite hate, but very mild anger instead. “I see that Rainbow Dash here is awake now, that is very good, but tell me this, have you told her about the night of the particle accelerator accident yet? How about the lightning bolt? What about these labs, anything about them yet?” “Calm down and relax Lightning, we told her about the lightning strike that resulted from your particle accelerator explosion and the accident that night, but we haven’t explained to her anything about these labs of to what was the full extent of the damage caused that night, yet,” Soarin said. “Very well then, I shall,” she said stepping closer so that Rainbow Dash could see her from pillow without lifting her head, “Welcome to STORM Labs." “Don’t you mean START Labs?” Rainbow Dash said very weakly. Lightning Dust smiled very slightly, “That’s what I want everyone including the news and media to believe we are, but in truth and reality, who we really are and what we truly do are very completely different things. So as you can see even I have my secrets, but this one I will gladly share, the name of START Labs was just a ruse to hide the truth about what we really did of course. But what did we really do? Well the clue and hint to that is within the name, STORM Labs stands for this; The Scientific and Technological Organization of Research and Magic. And that is our real true name and what we really do.” “But there’s no such thing as magic…” Rainbow Dash said very weakly. “But isn’t there?” Lightning Dust said still smiling very slightly, “I can assure you that there is just despite what you may or may not have read in a book, and honestly, who’s to ever really say that there isn’t a thing such as magic? Your teachers? Your parents? The government? No, they won’t ever do at all. The only person that can decide what you really truly believe is yourself. Besides, I have seen evidence in the past of magic, I mean I get, or rather I listen in onto phone calls that have anything strange or mysterious or odd or unusual in them, oh, and also videos too as well. In fact sometimes I don’t need all my resources if I just so happen to spot it on someone as I did quite some time ago with three very strange mysterious girls that were definitely unusual and odd. But come now, their story shall not be told now or ever because I didn’t ever get their magic. And also you must know this Rainbow Dash, magic is just science that we can’t explain yet. And we, well we are the ones that try to find it, contain it, bag and store it right here, and just forget about it and keep it locked up here forever so that it may stay far away from any hands that may want to use it for nefarious purposes because if there is one thing that I have learned and something that you should learn, it is never to trust people. You can only rely on yourself in the end, and in the end, that’s all that really truly matters because someday the person you like or care for or even love the most, the one that is your best friend or just a friend instead, they might turn on you, and then you’ll be in real serious trouble because now they are not your friend anymore, but now they are instead your worst enemy and also nightmare too, one that you must face and live with constantly and forever. And after that you’ll still never be the same as you used to be no matter what happens or changes because the scars and imprints they left on you would be far too deep to ever remove or erase, and they will always stay with you.” “That’s a very bleak view and outlook on the world and people in general.” “Some might say so, but I think it’s just a very realistic and objective point of view even if it just so happens to be very bleak and gray and dim and negative as other have said to me before many times over again,” she said. “Yes, well I see your point, but why do you have this perspective?” “My unique perspective is based upon my own life and influences just as everyone else, and just like you with your parents too I am sure enough.” “Please don’t mention my parents,” Rainbow Dash said trying to push away the thoughts and ideas and memories that all came back flooding her mind instantly. “I’m sorry, that was rude and harsh of me, but it is true, if you have a hard life then you’re more likely to be hard and cold and cruel just like I am, but I try not to let the past define me just as you shouldn’t, instead I always try to look forward to the future so I can imagine and see what it will be like then.” “Yeah, that’s what we all try to do here, move on and forward constantly and always, that’s basically our motto,” Soarin said trying to interject now. “Thank you for that Soarin, but I don’t need your comments and I can explain to her very well enough without your help, but I do still thank you very much.” And with that said Soarin looked down with some slight shame and Lightning continued to talk. “Now then,” she said “As I was trying to say we here at the labs don’t look back on the past and see our mistakes or failures, instead we see a process of learning and discovery, trial and error, but yes, Soarin did sum up our goals and quest here very well, but now our only goals and quests have to do with you because ever since that dreadful night I have been trying to fix my mistake, but that has been very hard to do ever since they shut down this place because it was a safety hazard to the public, but technically it still is operational even if I don’t have quite as many employees now, it’s just these two left, they decided to stay for some strange odd mysterious reason that even I can’t figure out still, which is of course unusual and very highly odd as well. But still I hope and pray and have faith that by saving and helping you out that I can eventually redeem myself, or at least start to travel down the pathway and road to that. But I can still see why you wouldn’t trust me after all that I and we have told you, and what other may and will surely tell you too as well. But if you want to help me out then you’ll stay here and do exactly as I ask, and for one thing to start off with we’ll need to run a few tests to make sure that you’re fit and good enough to actually walk and run and so on.” “Look guys I’m good,” Rainbow Dash said standing up from the bed, “Really I am, and I thank you for all your help and even though I’m not sure what this is or where it is exactly, or even what’s going on, I’m still pretty sure that you might and must be crazy Lightning Dust, but still, thanks for the help but I have to go home now, I’m sure that my friends will still be waiting for me too.” And with that said she started to walk away towards the exit (which just so happened to be a very clearly marked elevator that was literally just right in front of her), but before she reached it Lightning Dust spoke up again. “Be safe, I wouldn’t want you to get hurt after you’ve just woken up, and especially since it would look very bad for the both of us you know.” “Okay, fine then, I will,” Rainbow Dash said as the doors closed behind her. “Do you think that we should have stopped her?” Soarin said after she left. “No, she would have gone anyways, we’ll just have to wait for her to come back, and she will if she ever wants answers, but in the meantime we’ll just have to wait and see what happens to her, and as for myself, I am very anxious and excited to see what she might become,” Lightning Dust said smiling very deviously. And with that said the team went back to work once more again. Meanwhile Rainbow Dash pulled out her cell phone (which just so happened to still be intact after all this time) and amazingly she called a ride despite the fact that she had been struck with lightning, and yet it still worked out somehow. “Thanks for coming to take me,” she said to Celestia. “You’re welcome, but to be quite honest with you, I’m just glad that you’re finally awake and alive and safe again, there’s just so much for you to do now and so little time in which to do it, oh and also don’t you worry about school, I’ll find some way that you can make up the credits and still graduate on time.” “Thanks a lot,” Rainbow Dash said as Celestia drove her to her home. “I just wish that the others could see you here now, but don’t worry, by tomorrow I’m sure that I can have somebody plan a big party for all of us.” And with that said Rainbow Dash nodded because she was too tired to talk now for some strange mysterious reason, how odd and strange, she thought. (Many things would very soon become this way so please just remember this.) And then Rainbow Dash decided to go to sleep and rest after promising to talk to Celestia tomorrow, and of course she took time to joke by saying that she better not fall into another nine-month coma, but she wouldn’t, she would just dream instead, but what she would face would be far worse instead, memories. > Flashback/ Dreams/ Memories > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nine Years Ago, Rainbow Dash couldn’t go to sleep easily enough that night or any other night that followed it, and it would always haunt her with what happened then. She stared out at her room when it happened, things and stuff started to float upwards, and she knew that wasn’t supposed to happen and she also knew that if she saw or heard anything bad or something that she had a question about she could always go to her parents, and conveniently they were just downstairs, and these days they always seemed to be downstairs now. And so she walked down very slowly when she saw it, her father was in the middle of the front living room while two blurs sped around in a circle very fast, one was red, and the other yellow, and she saw it very clearly. And her father, he was trapped in the middle of it, and as for her mother, well she was just outside of it luckily enough, but she looked very scared and afraid and then when she saw Rainbow Dash she screamed, “No! Get out of here! Go away right now!” but Rainbow Dash just stood there stunned and shocked, and that was when her mother took her by the shoulders and then finally said, “Look I need you to do something very important for me, I need you to be safe, okay?” Rainbow Dash nodded still very confused, “Now that’s a good girl, now then I want you to do something else now, something completely different, I want you to run, okay? Can you do that, because you need to. Run Rainbow Dash, run.” And with that said Rainbow Dash started to but then suddenly was very far away from home and she knew that she couldn’t have fun this far this fast. After that night nobody ever believed her about the details again, not even the police did, they all said that it was just the crazy mind and imagination of a child, but Rainbow Dash knew what she saw even until this very same day. And she would not ever deny what she saw there no matter what happened to her, she could take all the talk and comments, she knew what she saw then. And she would never ever change it no matter what happened to her. > Present Day... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present Day… Rainbow Dash suddenly woke up from her dream with a very cold sweat and then heard the sound of knocking on her door, “Are you up yet?” Celestia said very politely. “Uh yeah, I just woke up,” Rainbow Dash said trying to push aside the very painful memories of the past, “Just wait for me to get dressed.” “Well okay then, but don’t keep us waiting,” she said leaving her all alone. She quickly got dressed and the opened her door and went downstairs to see that there was a whole entire crowd outside in the back yard. And they were also in the front living room too, and they were all waiting for her. And there in the room was a big sign that said, ‘Welcome Back Rainbow Dash’ in a bright pink banner that furled across the whole entire room. “Hey there sleepy head,” Celestia said smiling at her, “Nice to see that you’re finally awake… again. Anyhow I took the liberty of inviting a few people over…” “I wouldn’t call this a few people,” Rainbow Dash said looking around. “Oh don’t be silly, it’s only a few if they are all your friends you know.” “Alright, okay then, you make a very fine point,” she said very calmly. “HEY THERE!” a bright pink girl suddenly said popping up from nowhere, “I have heard that you’re the party girl, or rather you would be if it was your birthday, but it isn’t but it’s still a party! Anyhow my name’s Pinkie Pie, and I already know your name because you’re the party girl and this is your party!” “Um… nice to meet you,” Rainbow Dash said not sure what to say exactly. “Yeah, I know, thanks, but are you enjoying your party?” she said with a bright cheerful smile on her face that did not want to seem to go off of her face ever. “Yeah, I like it, but it could be about twenty percent cooler,” she said. “Can do!” Pinkie Pie said suddenly zipping around the room and instantly added even more streamers and posters and banners and food as well. “How did you do that?” Rainbow Dash said looking around the room with some slight surprise and shock. “How did I do what exactly?” Pinkie Pie said. “You know what, never mind,” Rainbow Dash said leaving the strange, odd, unusual, and very mysterious girl behind to go and mingle with the crowd. And with that said she wandered over to one of her best friends who stood by a very large fancy elegant cake that had her name on it. “Hey there Applejack,” she said, “I forgot about my birthday, but it’s so sad that I missed it.” “Yeah well now you can finally make up for some lost time that you missed.” And with that said Rainbow Dash picked up the knife and took a big piece and slice of cake and put it on a paper plate, and then she slowly started to eat. “Luckily you won’t miss out on Halloween or Thanksgiving or Christmas.” “Yeah, lucky me,” Rainbow Dash said between bites of her very delicious cake. “Yeah well hopefully you can get back to school and then off to college.” “I can’t believe that I’m actually nineteen now,” she said still shocked and surprised that it had been so long ever since she was struck with lightning. “Yeah well you better believe it because it’s really happening sister.” “Thanks a lot Applejack,” she said, “But do you really think that there could be a chance for me to join any soccer team or get into college after my accident?” “Sure thing, you can go anywhere you want and do anything that you like.” “Yeah, well I think I need time to figure things out first,” she said. “Well then we’ll give it to you, take all the time that you need.” “Yeah, thanks, I just wish that Celestia will see it that way too,” she said finishing off the cake and then throwing her plate away in the trash can. She decided to go over and get this whole entire matter done with. “Celestia, can I talk to you for a moment, privately?” she said. “Sure thing,” she said with a nod as they went upstairs, “What about?” “Well I just want to get some stuff over with now like me going to school, well I just woke up and I need to reconnect with my life, and that means that I will have to reconnect with my friends and family so if you could give me some time to do that without pressuring me about school or a job that would be great.” Celesta nodded and then said, “Okay, fine, I’ll give you that, take all the time that you need. But speaking about school and a job, I think that I might just have something that could work out for you that’s in your line of experience.” “Really? And what would that be exactly?” Rainbow Dash said. “Well my old friend Harrison West is offering a job to work out at the police station, so if you want to you really should consider that sometime very soon.” “I will, thanks for letting me know, but now I have something else that I want to do, I want to go meet my mom, and I think I deserve it after all this time.” “But what about the party?” Celestia said gesturing to all the fun and games. “Don’t worry, I’ll stay for now, but after it’s done you can’t stop me from going, so it’s your choice whether or not if you want to take me there or not.” “Alright, fine then,” Celestia said with a slight sigh knowing that there was no way to stop her especially since she was an adult now, “Have it your way then.” And with that said she went back to the party until nighttime eventually came and fell down upon them all, but that was when Luna and Pinkie Pie both tried to make things alive again. “Maybe we can have a day after she wakes up party, wouldn’t that be so exciting?” she asked on her way out of the house. “Sure thing Pinkie Pie, just keep is small this time and not large and huge.” “Can do Princess Celestia,” Pinkie Pie said smiling as she literally bounced off and away, “HEY!” Celestia said as she slowly faded out of sight into the distance, “I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU NEVER TO USE THAT NICKNAME AGAIN!” But Pinkie Pie paid no mind to this as she idly hopped away very happily. After every guest had left Celestia turned to Rainbow Dash, “So then, do you want me to take you there or do you just want to walk there instead?” “I think that I’ll be fine on my own, besides, if I want to make the police academy or soccer team I’ll have to start work on running again.” And with that said Rainbow Dash started to run off to the police station, “Alright, fine then,” Celestia said, “But make sure to be safe, okay?” “Don’t worry, I will be!” she shouted back as she slowly ran towards it. > Jailhouse Talk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The jailhouse wasn’t too far away from where she lived which was Celestia and Luna’s house, but ever since her father had died so many years ago they had taken her in, mostly though it was Celestia with her overprotective nature, Luna however was kinder and more understanding, she could relate to people more on a much deeper more intrinsic level that Celestia just didn’t quite have. She seemed to always know and understand what Rainbow Dash was going through and she was always there to help others no matter what happened. But as Rainbow Dash ran to the jailhouse she felt slightly uneasy and odd and very different, but she pushed aside this thought and idea, maybe it was something that I ate, she reasoned to herself as she slowly approached her destination. Yeah, that must be it, or perhaps it could be something else instead, something completely different and unexpected and new to her. But she didn’t have time to question what she felt as she went up the stairs and entered going up to the clerk and depositing all of her valuables and other stuff and things because she knew the whole entire drill well enough by now that she had memorized it in great detail. And they also had memorized her too since they always seemed to expect her for her scheduled visit whenever she could come over. And so it was that she entered the visiting room and soon enough her mother was brought in and then she took her seat and picked up the phone and smiled through the glass, “Hey there Dashie,” Eleanora said. “Hey there mom,” she said smiling at the cute little nickname that she used when she was young, “It sure is nice to see you after all this time.” “Yeah, you too, what happened exactly? I mean I heard that there was an accident on the news and media and that you got stuck with lightning and that you have been in a coma for nine months, but what happened to you exactly?” “I think that Lightning Dust could answer that because she’s the real one that has been taking care of me apparently, but I’m fine now as you can see.” “Yeah well make sure that you stay that way, I wouldn’t want to lose my daughter after she just woke up from a very long nine-month coma.” “Yeah, I guess so, and I have a lot of time to make up too.” “Yes, you do, and so do we, I just hope that we can someday,” she said. “Mom, I know that you didn’t kill dad, you would never do something like that, I mean you can’t bring yourself to hurt an animal much less my dad.” “I know honey,” she said, “But you just have to hang in there Dashie, you just have to hold on and wait, can you do that for me Dashie? Can you do that?” “Sure thing mom, anything for you,” Rainbow Dash said putting her hand on the glass and waiting for her mom to touch it which she promptly did. “My little Dashie, I’m so proud of you, so glad that I had the opportunity and chance to be your mother even if for a short little time.” And with that said they cried and an officer coughed signaling that their time was coming to a close and end. “Well then,” Rainbow Dash said wiping her tears away, “Maybe I could tell you some more later sometime very soon?” “I would like to hear that,” her mom said smiling, “But until then stay safe and strong, be brave, and don’t let your fears or the past hold you back either.” And with that said her mom smiled one last time, hung up the phone, and then was slowly escorted back to her cell. Rainbow Dash hung up the phone too eventually and then left making sure to get all her stuff and things and then she decided to go back home again. But on her way there something happened, and this time it wasn’t just a trick of her mind, because one moment she was just jogging along lightly and then the next she was at her old high school, and then she was at the mall, and then the police station, and then the labs. What’s happening to me? She thought as she collapsed on the pavement. > Powers > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Rainbow Dash finally woke up (again) she saw that she was in the labs (again). “Well hey there,” Soarin said with a smile on his face, “I’m sure glad that we brought you in here after we found you sleeping on the pavement out there, I mean can you imagine what could possibly happen to you if we actually decided to leave you out there? I can, but I won’t say what I imagine either exactly, so you’ll just have to live with me, Soarin, the man of mystery.” “Soarin, please knock that off already,” said groaning at his very immature behavior that he was now displaying right in front of their guest. “Enough you two,” Lightning Dust suddenly said coming between them. “Enough of your pointless bickering, it is time to explain what happened to her exactly,” she said walking over to her bed very slowly and waited in silence. “What did happen to me on that night exactly?” Rainbow Dash said. “I’m glad that you asked, you see on that night the particle accelerator let off a huge big wave of energy, and it hit everyone, but it seems like that this wave is giving you some unique individual powers, but as for me, well it gave me this cane,” she said holding it up for her to see, “I never could walk well enough again without this or my medication, but I eventually learned to live with it.” “What kind of powers did it give me exactly?” Rainbow Dash said. “That’s exactly what we were hoping to know with our tests that we were going to run on you before you decided to go off and see your friends and family first instead of trying to be logical and reasonable and agreeing to a few tests.” “Hey, you can’t blame me for wanting to do that,” she said. “I’m not blaming anyone, I am just merely stating something plain and obvious, but come now, I think that we have a few tests to run on you Miss Dash.” “Alright, fine then, run your tests if you will, what do I care anyways?” And with that said Lightning Dust slowly smiled very deviously and then said, “Very well then, as you wish Miss Dash, let us begin right away then.” And that was why she found herself on a very long runway wearing a red suit. “It looks good on you,” Soarin said trying to reassure her about the silly suit. “Look I have cyan skin and rainbow hair as well too, trust me if there is any color that doesn’t work well with me it’s red, basically red does not look good on me, do you get what I am saying?” Rainbow Dash said mildly angry at him. “Well at least you should be running so fast that no one should see how truly ridiculous you really are,” Soarin said with a goofy grin on his face now. “Oh shut up,” she said as she prepared herself to start running now. And with that said Soarin and Spitfire were finally ready for her now and then Lightning Dust spoke up, “Run Rainbow Dash, run.” And with that said Rainbow Dash started to run and then back where they recording her they were all very quickly surprised and shocked. “She just passed 200 miles,” Soarin said looking at the data points. “That’s impossible,” Spitfire said looking his shoulder at the very same data. “Oh Miss Spitfire, I can reassure you that this is very possible.” And with that said they watched as she ran far away from then even past the distance where they could see her, but soon enough she came back around again, “Wow,” she said, “That was totally amazing and awesome, I mean did you see that?” she said gesturing back to where she had just run on. “Yes, we all saw it Miss Dash, and we know that it probably is what you say it is, but that opinion is to be debated much later of course,” Lightning said. “Well whatever, you all know that was cool, right?” she said to Soarin. “Yeah, totally,” he said holding his fist out for her to bump, and she did so. “It does not matter what you think about it, what matters is that Miss Dash now has powers which could help her to improve society and the whole entire world, but of course how she is to use her new powers is up to her of course. But it would be my high advice that she should stay with us for now until we can fully figure out to what range and limits that her powers might extend to.” And with that said Rainbow Dash nodded, “Yeah, that sounds good I guess.” And with that said it was settled, and so it was that Rainbow Dash now had finally found a new family, or rather she started to at least, and now she also had new powers, one that enabled her to run at incredible speeds, ones that were super amazing and awesome, ones that were very hard to believe. But that’s what you have to do if you’re going to continue reading this story, basically you’re going to have to believe in the impossible, can you do that? Good then, now let us continue onwards with the story then. > The Bank Robbery > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile in Crystal City… A strange mysterious hooded figure entered the Crystal City Bank as if nothing in the word could ever possibly be wrong possibly be wrong, but of course what he wore over him to conceal his face was making him a bit different and odd and unusual, but what happened next was even stranger than before then. He walked up to the first teller that was there and then he very casually handed her a note that simply had this message written on it: This is a robbery, give me all your money right now and no one will get hurt, please comply. “Is this a joke?” the teller asked as she hit the silent alarm button and started to get out some money from her register just to satisfy the crazy man there. “Why don’t you tell me?” he said raising his head to reveal gray stormy eyes, and then the real weird strange stuff happened as he slowly raised his arms and then suddenly there was a whole entire storm within the room now. “WORSHIP ME NOW!” he said summoning lightning, “FOR I AM YOUR NEW GOD!” And with that said he suddenly went into a very violent rage putting fear into every person’s heart, and questions as well too, and so the citizens of the city sat in silence and fear as he used his powers for fear and terror too. > The Bank Attack > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile in Canterlot City… “Lightning? We have some strange reports of a person who can summon a storm, I mean I don’t know if it’s true or not, but it still sounds pretty bad.” “Can’t the police handle this?” Rainbow Dash said from within the room. “I don’t know, maybe they can’t handle a meta human like yourself.” “Meta human?” Rainbow Dash said curiously tilting her head very slightly. “That’s what we decided to call all the people with powers of course.” “Wait, are there more like myself out there? And you didn’t bother to tell me? What if I was hurt or actually ran into them, what would happen then?” “Don’t worry Rainbow, so long as you are with us we will try to keep you safe, but yes we didn’t tell you because we didn’t know where they were or who they were, it was hard to tell who and what might have become one in the accident. After all, it did cover the whole entire city and beyond creating metas that we probably don’t even know yet, but we will find them eventually, but until we can I think that we’re going to need somebody that can deal with them. Someone that actually knows what’s really going on with them and the whole entire world, somebody that can stand up and be a hero, or at least try to be. They can have their own image and represent their own morals and ideas, have their own code, and I think that this person should be you Rainbow Dash.” “Woah, I’m a bit young to be a superhero don’t you think?” she said. “Age doesn’t matter, what matters is that you're ready to take responsibility, and I think that you are ready, but only you can decide if you want to do this. But if you do then you will have to live up to your image every single day.” “Tell me this first, there are people at the bank attack, right?” she said. “Probably many who need help, many who are very scared right now.” “Well that settles it then now I think. Because if I have the power to do something amazing and awesome and incredible, something impossible, well if I don’t use it to help other people then it’s on me when the bad things and stuff happens to them, it’s on me if they die or get hurt, alright, fine, I’ll do it. But if I am going to do this I need something to hide my identity, I don’t want people to know who I really am just yet, I can’t let them know either.” “Don’t worry,” Soarin said going over to a wall and then pointing at a display stand where a suit stood, “I have just the thing right here, this is a suit made out of a reinforced tri-polymer material, it’s heat and abrasive resistant so it should be able to withstand your high speeds and the heat that you generate. And interestingly enough this was originally developed to help out firefighters with fires, but it wasn’t quite marketable or affordable just yet either of course.” “Well that’s nice,” Rainbow Dash said zipping around and putting on the suit almost instantly to them, “Alright, I’m finally ready now I guess.” “Don’t worry,” Soarin said going over to the monitors, “The suit is equipped with sensors so that we can track all of your vitals and stay in touch with you through the communications lines, so don’t worry, we’ll guide you through.” And with that said Rainbow Dash nodded and then ran outside. “Okay the meta is at Crystal City Bank so you’ll need to…” Soarin said. “Don’t worry, I already know the way,” she said zooming around the city, “Trust me, I know Crystal City almost as well I do here, I can handle this thing.” And with that said she quickly zipped to the bank and saw the meta standing there in the middle of the crowd with lots of money bags besides the man. “Hey there man, you don’t need to do this,” Rainbow Dash said to him. “You don’t know what I need to do, but I’ll tell you, I need revenge now.” “Revenge against who exactly?” Rainbow Dash said getting closer to him now. “Society, the police, Harrison West and Celestia, I have a very long list.” “It seems very short to me,” she said trying to get much closer to him now. “To many I guess that would be so, but that doesn’t matter now, I have what I want here and I don’t need to stay, so goodbye my dear red suited stranger.” And with that said he shot his arms out and used his powers against her. “You can’t stop me!” he said as the lightning missed her because of her speed, but the wind didn’t as it launched her back into the wall very hard indeed. And with that said Rainbow Dash groaned as he used his wind and lighting together to hold her down on the wall, “I will have my revenge,” he said as she slowly went unconscious, but this time she woke up very soon after he left since she had faked it. And then she went around the bank to make sure that everyone was okay and then finally went outside but couldn’t see the man. “Guys, do you know where he is? I lost him, but at least the bank is safe for now I guess,” Rainbow Dash said out loud waiting for an answer. “No we don’t, but we do know his name, it’s Clint Mason, a well-known criminal according to the cameras and police records and files,” Soarin said. “Well does it say anything about an old hideout or a favorite place of his?” “Yes it does actually, it says here that he was captured at a farm before the accident by one Harrison West, but we can’t be sure that he’s there.” “Well then make something that can make you sure about that.” “Oh, I know, if I can track the anomalies in the weather system then I can track him,” Soarin said moving around to look at the monitors while still sitting on his rolling chair, “Okay there’s nothing right now, but I’ll let you know as soon as I find something, until then we’ll just have to wait, okay, alright?” “Alright, fine then,” she said, “I’ll come on back until we finally get something.” And with that said Rainbow Dash decided to go back to the labs then. > The Police Station > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile at the Crystal City Police Station… “Hey Harrison did you hear about that bank accident just recently now?” “Yeah I did, it was terrible and I also heard about some guy that could control the weather?” Harrison West said from behind his desk as he worked. “Yeah, that’s what the rumors from the witnesses say anyways, there was also an old friend of your there too, and his name should be very familiar to you.” “Well who was it?” Harrison said to Tony Smith who was his boss. “I believe his name was Clint Mason,” he said very calmly now. “Oh really? He shows up now after all this time when he was missing?” “I guess so, and don’t worry, yes, you are on this job and case, but you’re going to have to take a new partner with you out on the field, alright, okay?” “What? No. How can you expect me to get a new one after what happened to my last partner? I can’t put them in that kind of danger and peril.” “Yes you can, and you will because I say so, they need the field experience, and you need the partner, just give it a try and you’ll see that it’s not so bad.” “Fine then, alright, but don’t blame me if they die because I warned you now.” And with that said they both went back to work trying to find the criminal. > Becoming the Hero > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile back at STORM Labs… “It’s been very quiet, too quiet,” Soarin said looking at the monitors as if they could explode at any moment with activity or something else different instead. “Soarin, enough of your references already, please,” Spitfire said. “What? Come on, you know that they’re totally awesome and cool and amazing just like the new nickname that I have for this guy, the Weather Wizard.” “Seriously? Is that the best name that you can really come up with now?” “Yes, it is, and don’t mock it because it’s a perfectly suited name for him.” “Enough of giving him nicknames, we need to find him, and we need to do it very fast before someone else gets hurt on our watch!” Lightning Dust said. “Alright, calm down,” Soarin said looking at the monitors, “There’s still no sign of anything out of the ordinary or weird, nothing is unusual or odd or strange, it’s almost like he knows that he is being followed or tracked right now.” “That’s not possible, he couldn’t know that,” Lightning Dust said. “No, he can’t, but maybe he suspects it instead, I don’t know but he sure isn’t ready or willing to show his face just yet, and -oh wait what’s this now?” he said looking at the monitors more closely now, “It seems that we do have something very big at his old farm house, a very big bad disturbance indeed.” “Do you hear that Rainbow Dash? He’s at the old farm house right now.” “Yeah I heard that,” she said as she suddenly ran out, “Lead me there.” Meanwhile at the farm… “So this is our last stop for the night, right partner?” his new partner Edward said with a slight smile on his face as he finished off a drink. “Yeah Edward, this is where Clint used to hid out at, and this is also where my last partner died, but I highly doubt we’ll find anything so don’t expect the best or worst, but be warned, if this is where we can find him then this guy is very dangerous, I heard that he might have something that we don’t and can’t ever fully really understand, so don’t be stupid or cocky in there, just be smart, keep your head down low, and we’ll all be just fine in there, alright, okay?” “Yeah sure thing,” Edward said with his hand near the holster as he got out of the car, “But by the way, what did happen to your last partner exactly?” “We came in, he was here with his brother, and they got the gain on him.” “Oh, I see,” Edward said as they slowly approached the barn door and then entered it also very slowly, and to their great surprise and shock they saw that Clint was there standing in the middle of the room completely still now. “Don’t move!” Harrison said instantly, “This is the police, so put your hands up in the air very slowly and turn around taking no sudden movements.” Clint did so but when he had fully turned around he still had that hood over his head, but it didn’t conceal his face as he slowly smiled. “I would advise that you put down your guns,” he said, “That is unless you want someone to die, and in that case that would be so very sad.” “No one is going to die tonight,” Harrison said slowly approaching Clint. “Oh I think that she would argue that,” Clint said raising just one finger to the roof where there was an unconscious form of Principal Celestia hanging there. “What have you done with her?” Harrison asked looking up with some fear. “Me? Oh nothing too much, I just made sure that she was tied up very securely before you decided to come, and as a bonus I have bombs on her that will explode within five minutes unless I remotely reset it before every five minutes is up, or if you don’t let me go up and reset it now I could always just push the little tiny red button that will blow her up now,” he said smiling as he revealed a remote in his hand that he had kept hidden from them before now. “Oh really? And what do you want in exchange for her safety then?” “Nothing too much, just the chance and opportunity to be with you so I can finally kill you, so what do you say, want to trade place with her or not?” “I don’t make deals with criminals,” Harrison said, “Especially you.” “Well that’s too bad, because I have another ace in my sleeve.” And with that said suddenly a storm was starting within the farm house. “What’s happening? What are you doing?” Harrison shouted very loudly. “Oh nothing too much, I’m just using my new godly powers to destroy you.” And with that said suddenly the farm house was torn apart as a tornado suddenly formed, but luckily enough for them Harrison, Edward, and Celestia were all safe from it, and they also found out that the bomb was just a bluff, but what he had here, whatever his new powers were, they were not a bluff. They were very real, and the bluff was just a distraction for the real end game. And that’s just about where Rainbow Dash enters our story as she suddenly came to the location of the farm house, or rather where it used to be and saw that a police officer was leaning over Celestia trying to wake her up now. “Harrison? Is that you?” Celestia said as she lifted her head very slowly. “Yes, it is, but please don’t ask any questions about what you see or what’s going on because quite honestly I don’t have a clue or idea about this either.” And with that said Celestia looked up and saw the chaos and carnage. “Oh dear,” she said, “I’m glad that you said that because I sure do have a lot of questions about what’s going on, but I’ll just be quiet instead and watch.” And with that said she watched as she saw a yellow blur, and then her only thought was this: Oh my gosh, Rainbow Dash’s story could actually be really true, and I have never believed in her as I should have, I just wish that I could change that now, but I can’t, oh Rainbow Dash, I just wish I could tell you how sorry I am right now, but don’t worry, you’ll hear it very soon enough. And with that the scene continued onwards now. “So I see that you’re back for more now,” Clint said within the tornado, “But guess what? You can’t stop me! I have the powers of a god and what do you have? Nothing! That’s what!” “I don’t have nothing,” Rainbow Dash said and then into her headset she silently said, “Guys, tell me how to beat him because honestly I have nothing on him right now, I mean he’s in a freaking tornado for crying out loud.” “Uh well if you can cut off the source of his wind, oh my gosh that sounded really bad like that,” Soarin said, “Uh what I meant to say was this, you have to run around really fast and make sure that air can’t get in or out, you basically have to create a mini vacuum, but to do that you’re going to have to go faster than you can go, faster than what we even think is plausibly safe for you.” “How fast do I need to go exactly?” Rainbow Dash said. “Mach 1, the speed of sound basically,” Spitfire said. “Wow, that is totally crazy, and also amazing and awesome,” she said. “I told you so,” Soarin said making a gesture with his arms to emphasize the whole entire point. “But if it’s the only way to defeat him I’ll try to do my best then,” she said. “No, you can’t you could die,” Spitfire said with fear. “If I have to sacrifice myself for the city then I will, but I won’t let him hurt anyone else, that’s what I have to do because I’m the heron now.” And with that said she turned to Clint Mason with much determination. “Really, what do you have on me then?” he said. “My friends and my speed,” she said as she quickly darted around the base of the tornado trying to cut it off, but she still wasn’t fast enough yet. “Rainbow Dash you’re barely making 400, you need to go faster.” “I’m trying to!” she said back to Soarin, but then suddenly she was struck with lightning from the storm as Clint laughed very maniacally and crazily too. “Your speed can’t defeat me, nothing ever can!” he said. Suddenly the voice of Lightning Dust came over, “Rainbow Dash, you need to focus, think about something that you want, something that you really want to fight for, think about how much you want to save your family, your father, your mother, and then pretend that’s him, you can do it Rainbow Dash because I believe in you, so do this, do it and show that you can be a hero, do this and show that you can change, do this to change the future, don’t let the past or your fears hold you back you just have to run away now Rainbow Dash, run.” And with that said Rainbow Dash focused her mind and then started to run again, and as she ran she could tell that she was indeed going faster now. “400, 450, 500, 550 600, 650, 700,” Soarin said looking at the monitors, “Yes, you’re doing it Rainbow Dash, keep going, you can do it, I believe in you girl!” And with that said Rainbow Dash went even faster and soon broke the sound barrier. “She did it! She just broke through the sound barrier! I knew that she could!” Clint tried to maintain control and throw lightning at her, but she was going too fast now and soon enough she eventually managed to cut off the tornado and wind. But the result of her effort and energy left her weak on the ground, but so was he. Yet he still managed to get up and groan, “You think that a little speed can stop me?” he said, “Your little tricks won’t stop me, nothing and no one ever can or will.” And with that said he started trying to use his powers again, but it was at that moment that the sound of a gunshot could be heard and then they all turned to see that Harrison West was standing there and he was the one that held the gun. “Not if I can help it at all,” he said, “And that’s what you get for trying to blow away the city with all of your big huge crazy powers, may you now rot in peace.” “Harrison? What have you done?” Celestia said slightly shocked at him now. “What they taught me to do at the academy, he was a dangerous villain who had powers that I quite frankly don’t understand, or any of the rest of us either.” “But we do,” Rainbow Dash said getting up from the ground and walking over to them, “We can help you capture these humans, metas, that’s what we’re calling them now, well we can help you catch them and study them to fully really understand them. But we can’t do that if you keep on shooting them and killing them beforehand, or at least that’s what Lightning Dust is shouting for me to tell you, and I happen to agree. Criminals may deserve to die just because of one action or mistake, but I know that the law says we have to protect people, and that includes from themselves too.” “Wait, that voice, it sounds very familiar,” Celestia said standing up, “Rainbow Dash? Is that you? It can’t be right? Surely I must me dreaming or something like that.” “It’s not a dream,” Rainbow Dash said pulling off her mask, “It’s very real.” “Rainbow Dash! We’re going to need to talk once you come back,” Lightning said. “I can’t believe this, you managed to stop that criminal, you managed to run that fast, I can’t actually believe that this is happening,” Celestia said trying to calm down. “You better believe it because it’s actually happening,” Rainbow Dash said, “But what really happened here, what really happens with me, that need to stay a secret, okay?” “Sure thing Rainbow Dash,” Celestia said still dazed at what had just happened. “How do I know that you’re not just another criminal trying to trick me?” Harrison said to her holding his gun up. “You can’t, but you can talk to Lightning Dust if you have any doubts, besides, I think that I have a job lined up with you guys now.” And with that said she smiled and said, “would you like to give you a lift home?” “No, I’ll be fine on my own, besides, this is a crime scene now, I have to stay.” “Actually I wouldn’t mind if you can take me to someone who can explain all of this,” Celestia said, “Just make sure to be gentle with me on the way there, okay?” “Sure thing,” she said picking her up somewhat easily (it was due to the effect that her muscles had also grown stringer and constantly regenerated as Soarin and Spitfire tried to explain to her, but all she got was that she was just stronger and faster now). And with that said she turned back to Harrison and said, “Sorry, I’ve got to run.” And then with that said she dashed off and away leaving Harrison West behind. “What was all that about?” his partner said looking around at the crime scene. “I have no idea, but I fully intend to find out very soon enough.” And with that said they went back to doing their jobs. It didn’t take very long for Rainbow Dash to carry Celestia to the labs, but when she finally got there her shirt started to catch on fire and Spitfire quickly had to toss it in the nearest trash bin as Soarin merely just watched the scene before him. “I am sure glad that I never go topless,” Celestia said hugging a towel very closely to her chest. “Man, I didn’t know that you looked so damn hot princess,” Soarin said. Celestia groaned at that nickname, why did people keep calling that just because she had won school princess every year in high school and college dances as well too? “Please don’t call me that,” she said, “I really don’t like that nickname anymore.” “Well you’re just going to have to live with it just like my weak legs,” Lightning said approaching her, “And I assume that you must be Rainbow Dash’s very lovely and very adopted mother, am I correct or is my information somehow wrong now?” “You’re correct,” Celestia said looking very closely and carefully at her, “So then, I assume that you must be this scientist called Lightning Dust then?” “I am,” she said, “And if you will let me I will now explain how Rainbow Dash can do what she can, why she has her powers and her speed, it shouldn’t take too long since her entire atomic and molecular and chemical structures were changed by the wave of energy coming off of the night of the particle accelerator accident so very long ago.” “So that’s why she has this new power of speed? Because of the accident.” “Yes, just like how I have this cane,” she said, “I hope that you can understand this, and I hope that you can come to realize that despite whatever Rainbow Dash might do here that she will never be in real true danger with us supporting her back now.” “Yeah, I think I do a little bit, but I don’t like it, she tried to be a hero out there today.” “And that’s exactly what I am and want to be,” Rainbow Dash said, “And you can’t stop me, because if I have these powers and don’t use them to help others than I’m just as bad as the criminals that the police fight every day on the streets.” “Fine then,” Celestia said taking a very deep long sigh after a long moment of silence where she just glared at her very angrily, “Be that way then, be a hero Dash.” “Hmm… Dash, I really like that nickname,” she mused to herself now. “Yeah, we definitely need a superhero name for you, and one that isn’t the Flash or the red blur or the scarlet speedster,” Soarin said when he heard her speak. “Did you just make up all those names right now?” Spitfire said. “Yes, yes I did, but I think that ‘The Dash’ can work out well enough, right?” “I guess so,” Lightning Dust said, “After all, who would ever suspect a hero using their last name in their hero nickname? I mean that’s just stupid or crazy or both instead.” “Yeah well don’t expect me to support you guys in whatever you do,” Celestia said, “Because the only person I will support is Rainbow Dash, but if she says that you’re good enough for her then I guess that you’re good enough with me, for now that is.” “Very good then, I expect us to be in contact very shortly,” Lightning said. And with that said Celestia nodded and then said, “I’m leaving now,” as she promptly left. “Well, that went far better than I expected,” Lightning said, “You didn’t die and you managed to reveal your secret identity to only two people, but I would highly advise that in the future you do not share your secret identity with anyone, even your friends and family, but if you do wish to then please consider all the consequences that may come if they know, both good and bad, that is all I have to say for now.” And with that said Lightning Dust left the room and then Rainbow had an idea. “You know, I think there might be one more person that I can talk to and reveal my identity,” she said smiling as she started to walk out of the room then. “And who would that be exactly?” Soarin said as she entered the elevator. “Can’t say, if I did he would have to put an arrow in your heart,” she said. And with that said she left and went back to Crystal City again. “Is that why you really came out here, just to talk? Because I don’t think you would run all this way just to have a short little chat between the two of us,” the strange mysterious hooded figure said, and she knew that it was a man, and despite his odd and unusual aura and disguise, she still knew him. “Yes, sort of I guess, look, I just didn’t want to talk about what happened to me,” Rainbow Dash said trying to explain herself now, “You see?” “Yeah, I mean who wouldn’t want to just talk about something that made them into an incredible hero with superpowers that’s totally amazing and awesome?” “Look,” she said, “How do you do it? I mean being a hero and all?” “Simple, take it one day at a time and live like today could be the day that you die, and also the lying can get hard, but it’s needed to protect the ones that we love most, besides, being a hero isn’t so bad when you always remind yourself of who and what you are fighting for, so never forget that Rainbow Dash.” “I won’t Shining Armor,” she said smiling, “Thanks a lot for your words.” “Anytime,” he said walking over to the edge, “And if you ever need anything don’t hesitate to call because we’re friends, oh a d by the way I also have some more advise for you, get a name, and always wear a mask,” and with that said he jumped off the building as he pulled out his bow and arrow and glided on down to the ground. And with that said Rainbow Dash smiled and then decided to run back home, after all, she had friends to talk with and people to save. On her way back she saw someone getting mugged and she quickly stooped them, and later on the woman who was attacked would later say that the blur she saw dashed in and stopped the man and then he was gone, and those were her exact words, dashed in, saved her, and then dashed back out again. > Promotion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Hey boss, can I talk with you for a moment?” the strange new girl said. “Sure thing, anything for my number one assistant and intern.” “That’s just the thing I wanted to talk to you about,” she said, “I don’t want to be an intern or your assistant anymore, I want to be out in the field.” “You? Out in the field? Don’t be ridiculous, you wouldn’t last one day.” “Sir I would if you would just give me the chance to prove myself.” “Fine then,” he said looking through the files to see which one would most likely end up in her failing since he really liked her as an assistant, and then he saw something very promising at the very bottom of the whole entire stack, it was just a brief little tiny report of a yellow streak and blur in town. “Here’s one,” he said tossing the folder file to her, “It’s about a woman who claims that a yellow blur saved her, go investigate that and report back.” “Okay then,” she said not sure if she should be thankful or pissed off because it was very clearly and obviously a dead-end case, “Thanks?” “You’re welcome Sunset Shimmer, and good luck.” And with that said the girl left to do her job then. > Hidden Future > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back at STORM Labs Lightning Dust made sure that no one had followed her and then entered her secret room and activated the computer by talking. “Sophia, pull up the newspaper article,” she said putting her cane down since in reality she didn’t need it, “Yes Lightning Dust,” the electronic voice said as a holographic image of a newspaper came up that was dated in the future. “Oh Miss Dash, you really don’t know how important you truly are to me, but I can assure you that someday you will know just that very thing.” And with that said she smiled as she read the headline. The Dash is Missing! And below in smaller text it described how after battling and fighting an enemy she had mysteriously vanished and now was missing from the city. “Soon we’ll meet again, and this time I will finally win.” And with that said she closed up the projection and left the room and went back to work making sure that the future would remain secure and safe. > Speed, Science, Friends, and a New Hero > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Two Six Weeks Later… “Rainbow Dash there’s a fire just southwest of you.” “Well just guide me through,” she said running in that direction. “Woah! Rainbow Dash you’ve gone way too far!” Soarin said. “How far did I overshoot?” Rainbow Dash said. “Three blocks, you need to go back right now.” “Fine then,” she said running back to the house and then rushing in she saved every person in there and got them all safely outside on the sidewalk. “What the-?” the firefighter said when they arrived. But Rainbow Dash was already gone by the time that they got there. And it was just then at that moment that Spitfire came in. “Are you talking to Rainbow Dash?” she said putting her stuff down now. “What? Me? Who? No,” Soarin said trying to act very casually now. “You know, Rainbow Dash, fastest girl alive?” she said gesturing with her hands very dramatically now as she gazed deeply into his eyes now. “Doesn’t ring a bell,” Soarin said trying to shut off and mute the lines now. “Soarin? What’s going on? What’s the situation?” Spitfire looked at Soarin with a glare that could kill. “Uh huh,” she said, “Well tell her to come back to us now, okay?” “Yeah,” Soarin said, “Spitfire says that you should come back.” “Alright, fine then,” Rainbow Dash said starting to go back but then she suddenly felt very dizzy for a moment but then quickly went over to the labs. “Rainbow Dash, what do you think you are doing?” Spitfire said, “You’re not supposed to play the hero, you’re just supposed to help us catch and find other meta humans.” “Look, if I can help other people with my powers I will,” she said. “What Spitfire meant to say is that you have an impossible power and much unexplored potential within your cells, and of course I believe in the impossible just like all who used to work here, and you have to be safe to explore that potential impossible things and stuff, and we can’t do that if you’re running around trying to pretend you’re a hero, but trust me you’re not, you’re just a girl that was struck with lightning, that’s it and all,” Lightning Dust said. “How do you always come in at the right moment to interrupt us?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about Miss Dash," she said now. “What’s up with you and calling people Miss and Mister?” “I respect every person for what they believe and choose, that’s why.” “Oh, well that explains a lot then,” she said casually now then. “It does, now then I would advise that you keep your heroic activities to a low until we can figure out how to expand and explore your full potential.” “Fine then, I’ll try to be safe,” Rainbow Dash said, “And calm down.” “Calm down? I lost my reputation, my name, my power, my respect, and have almost lost this whole entire lab, and I will not lose you Miss Dash.” And with that said Lightning Dust went off by herself very angrily. “She seems a little bit upset, but that’s perfectly understandable.,” she said taking off her suit and changing into a more appropriate uniform instead. “We’ve all had our pain in the past before, things we fear,” Spitfire said. “Speaking of the past why don’t you smile at all ever?” she said. “Ever since my fiancé Frosty Blaze died I don’t really have a reason to smile,” she said, “He died on the night of the particle accelerator explosion, he died saving everyone, and he wasn’t supposed to be there that night, he was only there for me, that’s it and all,” she said turning her head trying to hide the tears away from Rainbow Dash, but she couldn’t quite do it well enough. “Oh, I’m sorry, I wish that I could help,” she said. “It’s fine, it’s just that we were so close,” she said, and with that she put her head on the desk and cried, “Just give her some time, she’ll be back to normal in no time at all,” Soarin said smiling as he patted Rainbow Dash on the back very lightly, “Now then, do you have somewhere to be right now?” “Yes I do actually, I have to be with my friends right now,” she said. “Yeah, right, well I’m going on over to Simon Hunter’s science award thing, want to come along? I mean I know it’s not your thing, but still…” he said. “No, I think that I should go talk to someone else right now,” she said. “Very well then, fine, suit yourself, but just in case either of us gets in trouble let’s stay in touch with our phones, shall we?” he said pulling his out. “Are you sure this isn’t just a very cheap way to get a hot girl’s number?” she said smiling as she wrote down her number and exchanged it for his. “No, of course not, why would I ever do such a thing?” he said blushing now. “Relax, I’m just joking, I know that you mean well,” she said very lightly. “Right,” he said, “Well then, I’m off now, see you later then I guess.” And with that said they both left and Rainbow Dash decided to go home to talk to Luna, but when she did she just so happened to walk in on them as she was kissing Edward. “Whoa there, calm down the heat in this room,” she said putting her stuff down and not even concerned about what they were doing now, but that was her natural charm and personality of course. Suddenly the two of them turned to Rainbow Dash with slight blushes in their faces, “Rainbow Dash, I’m sorry for not telling you this earlier, but me and Eddie, well we’ve been dating here for quite some time now,” she said. “How long exactly?” Rainbow Dash said not phased at all. “About a month or two before you woke up, and it’s actually a funny story of how we met, I was mugged one day and my purse was stolen and he just happened to be there to save the day and be my hero, and then he asked me out on a date and it’s been going quite well ever since then.” “Well I’m happy for you two,” Rainbow Dash said putting her gear down. “Really? You’re not mad at me?” Luna said slightly surprised and shocked. “Look, you have been a really good listener of me so if you want to try to explain then go ahead, if not I’ll totally and completely understand, but I think that Edward here is a really nice guy, if you like him then that’s fine with me. But I don’t think that your sister would approve of this relationship.” “Yeah, she doesn’t like it when things get complicated or when I try to hide things behind her back, the last time that I did that we didn’t speak or see each other again for ten years,” Luna said, “But thanks for the support anyways.” And with that said Luna smiled as Rainbow Dash slowly unpacked her stuff and things, “Hey, do you know where my friends are right now exactly?” “Yes I do actually, I had a feeling you would want to know and I looked them up, I believe that Applejack is working on Sweet Apple Acres Farm with her family, Rarity is trying fashion out in some smaller towns like before moving on to Boston and Manhattan, Fluttershy is working out at the animal shelter and also I heard that she’s a therapist or something for some crazy locked up person, Pinkie Pie, well she’s still in town being herself, and as for your other friend Twilight Sparkle, she’s working out at Mercury Labs.” “And who would you recommend that I see first?” she said very curiously now. “Whoever you want to see first most of course,” Luna said smiling now. “Well yes, of course, how could I miss something that obvious?” And with that said suddenly her phone rang which meant Soarin. “Sorry, I have to run,” Rainbow Dash said quickly darting out of the house, going over to the labs, putting on her suit, and then following his words. And very soon enough she arrived at the science center (because Soarin also texted her the directions which was very convenient and easy for her). She quickly saw that there seemed to be nothing wrong and changed back into normal clothes and went over to Soarin, “What’s wrong here exactly?” “Nothing yet, but I just had this feeling, this sense, this vibe that something is going to happen here, and it’s not going to be good, oh, and there’s also the free buffet, I thought that you might want to go check that out,” he said. “Soarin, this is no time for practical pranks, you need to be serious about this,” she said looking at the goofy grin that was still on his cute little tiny face. “Well this is a famous scientist so anything could happen here,” he said. “Fine, I’ll stay for now, but only because you asked me to,” she said angrily. And with that said she went around the crowd until she saw a very familiar face that was one of her best, oldest and closest friends. “Sunset Shimmer? Can that really be you?” she said slowly approaching the girl cautiously. “Rainbow Dash! Oh my gosh it’s so nice to finally see you again!” the girl said reaching over to Rainbow Dash and then quickly hugged her in a very tight embrace, “Where have you been because girl do we really need to talk.” “Yeah, that’s the same exact thought I had,” Rainbow Dash said, “I mean where have you been and what are you doing here exactly? You’re not exactly a science type from what I recall about you when we were in high school.” “Those were the good times,” Sunset said sighing deeply and heavily, “But guess what, I’m a journalist now, well small and part time, but it’s a start at least, anyhow I’m here because I haven’t got any leads on my ‘major’ story and this seemed just right enough for me although I do think that I will need a dictionary to look up some of his bigger words that he’ll use I guess.” “Very funny, but what’s the deal with this guy anyways? I mean he isn’t some crazy person trying to change the world with new ways and forms of energy?” “Nah, he’s just into trying to change the world by muscular cell regeneration, basically that’s a really fancy way of saying he makes bioengineered body parts and stuff like that, but honestly I really don’t understand anything here.” “Yeah, tell me about it,” Rainbow Dash said thinking about her own current situation, “Hey, Sunset, you mentioned a ‘major’ story, what was that all about anyways exactly because you went off into a tangential rant then.” “Oh, well I’ working on this case about this red or yellow blur that’s in town now, no one’s ever seen it or them, but they say that it has saved many people, in fact I think I just got a lead today with a fire station that’s very close.” “Oh really?” Rainbow Dash said knowing that it was herself being talked about right now, and now what she really needed was a way to get out of this talk. “How very interesting and curious, but my advice is to stop chasing a dream.” “What?” Sunset said very shocked and surprised at her reaction now then, “You’re always the one that says you should pursue your dreams no matter what happens, and this isn’t like you, so what’s up with you exactly?” “Nothing, I just don’t think someone should pursue a dream that will fail in the end eventually, it seems kind of pointless, stupid and crazy too.” “Wow, I expected more from the girl who has believed in the impossible her whole entire life, but I guess that I was wrong, you really have changed.” And with that said Sunset Shimmer went off and away leaving her alone now. “You have no idea just how much I have changed,” she said. And with that said she went around the party until something very unexpected finally happened, the party was robbed. Six robbers that wore entirely black came in and raise dup their guns simultaneously and then said something. “Well look what we have here, a whole entire crowd full of people wearing their finest jewelry, it’s almost like you knew that we were coming to rob you.” And with that said one man went around with a very large big wide bad collecting people’s valuables and Rainbow Dash just put in her best watch that was the last gift that her dad ever gave to her. “No Rainbow Dash, not that,” Sunset said as she watched helplessly as she deposited it in the bag. She looked over at Sunset and gave a look that said she knew what she was doing, and so she couldn’t help a very slight faint smile. And then that was when Soarin finally managed to come over to them very slowly now. “Dash, it would be a really good time to do you know what,” he said. “No, not yet, not right now, not in front of all these people,” she said. But that was when something started to go wrong of course. A policeman came in and spotted the robbers and then pulled out his gun and shouted, “DROP YOUR WEAPONS RIGHT NOW!” But they didn’t of course, instead they raised the guns and shot together at once simultaneously, and that was when Rainbow went in very quickly to save him. And once she had she turned back to the robbers who were now getting away. And with that she ran (but normally this time) to keep up with them, but never got too close, and when she was away from the crowd she tried to run after them, but as she tried to do so she suddenly fell down to the ground as her head started to go dizzy and then the world turned upside down. When she finally woke up she was being prodded by Sunset Shimmer. “Rainbow Dash? What were you thinking by rushing out here?” she said. “Uh, Well I wanted to get the license plate numbers of course,” she said. “Well what happened to you exactly?” Sunset said very anxiously now. “Uh, well I fainted,” she said struggling to come up with an excuse. Sunset glared at her sensing that this was a lie but did not press any further. “Alright, fine then, if you say so,” she said as Rainbow regained herself now. And with that said she suddenly saw Soarin coming over towards her now. “Hey there, uh I need you to come back to the lab right now, and sorry Sunset, but we’re just going to borrow Rainbow for a short little while, okay then?” “Alright, fine then,” she said, “I have a report to do anyways right now.” And with that said she left them in a great rush and hurry now. “Wow, she sure is hot,” Soarin said smiling, but then he frowned, “Wait,” he said, “Would that be a very bad pun since her name is Sunset?” “Yes, yes it is,” Rainbow Dash said groaning at the unintentional pun now. And with that said Soarin decided to drive her over to the labs for her own safety and protection of course. And when they finally did get there, well Lightning Dust just seemed very angry and upset at Rainbow Dash now. “Miss Dash, your recent behavior is both reckless and stupid, you go into building pretending to be a hero, which you aren’t by the way, and you also have hidden the fact that you have had some problems according to Soarin. And in science we do not ever hid secrets from one another, no matter what. Do you understand what I am saying, Rainbow Dash?” “Yes, she said, and I’m sorry, I just thought my dizzy spells were nothing.” “Well they aren’t, they could be anything from a problem with your cells or even a stroke or cardiac arrest,” Spitfire said, “We have no idea what’s really truly happening with your body, so this could literally be anything at all now.” “Do you really think that my problem can be dangerous?” she said. “Murphy’s law says that we will always have to assume the worst can and will happen, so we aren’t taking any risks because we don’t ever do that in science. Now then, I do believe that my team has something to help you out in your current predicament and situation, or at least how to figure it out instead.” And with that said they left to go into a room with a simple treadmill and lots of pillows and boxes behind it. “Really, a home treadmill?” she said glancing at the poor thing that should honestly be put out if its own misery now. “This is no ordinary regular treadmill, we have had this one designed to match your speeds, and just before you ask we did have a lot of time over these last six weeks, and the time while you were in a coma still of course too.” “Oh, thanks, I’m glad you said that, I really was wondering,” she said now. And with that said she stepped onto the treadmill as they talked to her while looking through a very safe glass wall. “Now then, just take it slowly, we’ll monitor all that’s happening in your body from right here,” Spitfire said now. And with that said she started to run and as she did they talked. “Her heart rate looks normal for what her speed is, her breathing is good, there’s no sign of anything wrong with her heart or lungs at all,” Soarin said. “Wait, look here at the sugar levels,” Spitfire said pointing at the screen. “Yes, of course, glucose, how could we have missed this very important factor?” Lightning Dust said scolding herself, “Rainbow Dash, we found out the problem as to why you keep having fainting spells, it’s because of your low-,” But Lightning Dust couldn’t finish as Rainbow Dash suddenly crashed into the boxes, “Yeah, accidents like that,” Soarin said as she finished her sentence. “-blood sugar,” Lightning Dust said as she crashed into the boxes now. And with that said they had to get Rainbow Dash to a bed very quickly now. “You took quite the hit in there,” Spitfire said as she leaned over her bed. “I’m just glad that you could still walk upright after that,” Soarin said. “Yeah, thanks, but what were you saying was wrong with me again?” “It’s your blood sugar levels, they’re way too low and as a result you’re using up more energy than you can or should ever handle at one time. But thankfully I think that I can come up with something for that,” Soarin said now. “And what would that be exactly?” she said still groaning and also tired now. “Candy bars of course, but with just the right amount of sugar to fit your new needs,” he said, “And I will now get to work on that right away.” And with that said he went off to do his work and job now. “He seems funny,” she said, “But you’re not ever that way, why?” “I was never really that funny, ever, and ever since Frosty Blaze died, well there’s not only little occasion to smile, but also to laugh as well too.” “Well I’m very sorry for your loss and if I brought up back any bad memories.” “No, it’s fine, I really should learn to face my fears and the past, but he wasn’t just my friend or my best one, he was also going to be my husband too…” “Wow, that is one of the saddest stories and things that I have ever heard.” “Thanks for your sympathy and compassion, but I don’t really need to hear it from you or others, I’m fine just on my own,” she said leaving now. “Why is it that everyone I seem to meet has a tragic past?” she said not really expecting and answer from Lightning Dust, but to her surprise she did answer. “Well maybe the reason is something that you can’t see why yet exactly, but we all have a tragic sad point in our lives some point, but it is up to us to make the future better and greater instead, that is our true goal and quest now.” And with that said Lightning Dust left her alone to thin now. And that was when she finally got the phone call from Celestia. She picked up her phone and answered, “Hey there Celestia, what’s up?” “What’s up? Well I just heard from the labs that you had some kind of accident and tried to be a hero, and while I appreciate the effort just as Lightning Dust we cannot risk your safety or life, you mean too much to both of us now.” “Well guess what, I’m not a little girl anymore, I’m an adult now.” “I know, and that’s what I am afraid of most, you can make your own choices and that means greater power, but with great power comes great responsibility too, and if you don’t use your powers correctly then they’ll be gone eventually.” “Look, you’re just going to have to accept the fact that I am a hero now.” “I know, but unless your speed makes you bulletproof then I’ll always worry about your safety, and speaking of your powers can it do that?” “Make me bulletproof? I don’t think so,” she said smiling now. “Well then don’t do anything stupid, and be safe, okay?” she said now. “Alright, fine then, I’ll try to do my best, okay?” “Alright, fine, I’ll accept that, but you’re going to have to start lying better and coming up with better excuses other than ‘I fainted’,” she said. “Did Soarin tell you about that?” she said. “Yes, and he told me to tell you the whole entire excuse thing, and that I should probably remind you not to tell any of your friends right now either.” “I know, I won’t tell them, I just wish that I could tell them,” she said. "Well you can't, you made a promise to me and I expect you to keep it now, and if you do lie then you're liable to be struck by lightning again." “I know, but you have to be strong and protect the ones that you love most, and sometimes being strong is the hardest thing that you can ever do in life.” “Well then, thanks Celestia, you’ve really inspired me, love you,” she said. “I love you too Rainbow Dash, and make sure to always stay safe now.” And with that said Celestia hung up and left her alone to think now. Very soon enough however she would be back in action again. “Rainbow, we got a robbery at downtown,” Soarin said. “Alright, where exactly, she said trying to stand up now. But Soarin laughed and smiled when she fell down then. “Hey take it easy,” he said, “You need calories and I just might have the thing,” he said handing her a candy bar, “Now then don’t eat the whole entire thing right now since it is experimental and I don’t know if it will work or not.” And with that said she slowly took a few big bites out of it then. “Well I guess that will work out for now,” he said, “Now then, go be the hero save the day by running, and make sure to always stay safe now.” And with that said she smiled, said “I will,” and then ran off very quickly. “Well at least she always knows how to make an entrance and exit,” he said to himself after he left picking up some loose papers that flew around now. Meanwhile Rainbow Dash was running downtown while Soarin guided her. “Take a left, right, left again, and there, you should be good,” he said. “What is this place anyways?” she said entering the factory. “Just a small tiny little branch off of… Hunter Industries,” he said. “Don’t tell me, he’s that science guy back at the party?” she said. “Yeah, the one and same, and I think that we might have found our connection to this criminal, now then if you can just get their mask off then we’ll know who they are and we might finally know why they’re after Simon.” And with that said Rainbow Dash finally spotted the criminal. “Hey there, I’ve got to go, I see the criminal right now.” And with that said she went to the criminal and quickly pulled off his mask. “Well then,” he said, “Hello to the new hero of the city now.” “Who are you and what do you want here exactly?” she said. “Me? I just want revenge against Mr. Hunter for my family, and if you’re going to try to stop me by standing in my way then I just guess that I will have to stop you, and don’t take this personally, it’s merely just business now.” “How are you going to stop me by yourself?” she said smiling right now. “Oh, I’m not alone, I have friends here with me now that are all myself now.” And with that said suddenly she saw that he could multiply himself into two, then three, then four, five, six, and then even some more as well too. And with that they suddenly converged on Rainbow Dash cornering her. Rainbow Dash didn’t have time to be confused about this whole entire thing or question anything at all as they did converge very fast upon her right now. There were too many of them and no matter what she did she couldn’t defeat him or them, ugh, it was just so hard with singular plural tenses now. And with that she had to quickly retreat away before she got hurt any worse. “Any suggestions for me on how to defeat him yet?” she said very angrily now. “No, but I do have an idea of how we can lure him out,” he said. “And how can we do that exactly if you must elaborate now?” “Well if we use Simon Hunter as bait then we can catch him finally.” “Well that sounds like a very good crazy stupid dumb idea, but I support it, but how are we ever going to get Simon to agree to these terms now?” “We don’t,” he said smiling now, “We will just have to trick him to it instead now, and please don’t argue with me, we don’t have any time to do that now.” “And how will we do that exactly? Card tricks and magic bunnies?” “Well I don’t know about either of those, but I am pretty sure that the social networks will have all the information you or I could ever need.” And with that said she smiled and then went back to the labs. But as she did she suddenly had a memory of the past. “Celestia, why can’t I go see my mother?” she said. “I already told you, it would look bad, I don’t care what you think about your mother, but others will care, and that will reflect upon me of course.” “My mom isn’t a killer! She would never kill my dad! It was the blur instead!” “Look, I already told you and so has everyone else that what you saw back there isn’t possible, you’re just a scared little girl who needs a home and a new loving mother to take care of you, and that’s going to be my job from now on.” “I HATE YOU!” she said, “I HATE ALL OF YOU! JUST LET ME SEE MY MOM!” But she didn’t see her mom that day of course, but eventually she did. “Mom, I’m so glad to see you, I’ve tried so hard just to get the chance to talk to you, they wouldn’t let me see you and now Celestia is taking care of me.” “Well that’s very good I guess, she can be the mother you never had.” “Well I hate her, she wouldn’t let me see you.” “Rainbow Dash, never say that you hate family, that’s very rude and not very nice, and no matter what you can’t hold hate against others forever.” “Why are you in here mom? I know that you didn’t kill dad, but they don’t seem to believe me, but I know what I saw, and I’m sticking with it too.” “Rainbow Dash, sometimes something seems impossible and in reality it isn’t, at one time people believed that a round earth was impossible. But saying that something is impossible is saying that you’re not ready to believe in it yet. And no matter what you try to do you can never make people get ready or try to embrace the impossible, for they will only accept it with time and patience. Now then I want you to be a good girl while I’m gone, okay?” That means you listen to Celestia like she was me and you will love her and respect her in the very same way, and treat her like me as well.” “I’ll try mommy, but I don’t know if I can,” she said crying now. “Well just try, that’s all that really matters right now.” And with that said her mother was taken away by the guards and taken back to her cell while Celestia came to pick up Rainbow Dash, eventually that was. Rainbow Dash shuddered at the thought and memory now. That had not been a very good time for her, and it still wasn’t either yet. And she also supposed that it never might be if things didn’t change either. She didn’t like that memory, and she wished that it was different instead, but she also couldn’t change the past either, no matter how much she wanted to. But right now she had to focus and be the hero and get back to the labs. And so she did and she waited very silently for something to come up now. And eventually something did at the Hunter Scientific Institute Center. And with that she raced off to the labs to meet the criminal. “Well hello there, Mr. Black,” she said smiling as she saw him now. “Well, you know who I am now, but you don’t know my real story yet either.” “Well then why don’t you tell us and then put down the gun?” she said. “He killed my wife,” he said pointing the gun at Simon, “That’s my story, or at least that’s all the important parts and stuff that you need to know for now.” “Wow, I guess that this has really taken the toll on you then,” she said trying to get closer to him now but without him trying to attack her instead now. “The medical bills just kept piling up, and I couldn’t afford them, so now I’m taking what’s his and I am just reusing it over again for some more stuff and things too. But guess what, you and your speed won’t stop me.” And with that said he split up into many versions of himself. Rainbow Dash smiled for she knew what she had to do there now exactly. She quickly darted around to face each copy of the man because she was trying to find the prime original one. And it took quite a while but she eventually managed to finally find him and then knock him out. Black lay on the floor in great pain, but he was still awake, “What are you going to do now, hero?” “Make sure that they put you in a place that they’ll never find,” she said. “You’ll have to kill me first before I ever give up my quest and goal on revenge, and I know that you heroes never kill anyone no matter what they did.” And with that said he tried to slowly stand up, but she was there to stop him Unfortunately however she was not there to stop him from pulling out his gun and then shooting himself in the head. “Guys, we’ve lost black,” she said. “Wow, that’s two villains who are now dead, and two nicknames, I would have called him the Multi-man because he can clone himself,” Soarin said now. “He had a name Soarin, just like every person that we face and meet, they still deserve our respect because they believed that they were doing the right thing.” And with that said Rainbow Dash looked at Simon Hunter and then said, “Sorry, but I have to run now,” and then she left very quickly. “Wow, fascinating,” he said to himself once she was gone. When Rainbow Dash went back to the labs she was greeted with a surprise. “Rainbow Dash, I have said before in the past that you shouldn’t be a hero because you put your life in danger, but after some very deep consideration and thought I have decided to let you continue with my permission so long as you never hold anything back from us again and also listen to us.” “Wow, this is very unexpected, what changed your mind exactly?” “Let’s just say that I am very anxious to move forward in the future.” And with that said Lightning Dust smiled very deviously as Rainbow Dash let out a great cheer of joy and delight and went over to Sugarcube Corner to celebrate with her friends. When she was there she saw Sunset there too. “Hey there Sunny,” she said using a very old nickname, “What are you doing here exactly? Surely there’s no big lead for any of your stories, right?” “Nah, this used to be the place where I worked out, but now it just helps me think instead, but who are they exactly, new friends?” she said. “Sort of, they’re helping me figure out this whole entire lightning thing back at the labs and I have to run tests and all sorts of stuff and things like that too,” she said very casually trying to be normal for once, but of course she wasn’t, and that day that she was would be the day that she wasn’t a hero. “Oh, so they’re scientific friends then?” Sunset said. “Well I guess you could call them that,” she said sensing a trap. “Well then, I just hope that they don’t ‘study’ your body too closely and get in any of your holes if you know what I mean,” Sunset said smiling now. “Oh you little tease,” Rainbow Dash said laughing loudly right now then. And with that said they talked and enjoyed themselves and eventually they both left, but on her way back she had yet another flashback now. “Rainbow Dash, I want you to meet someone very special,” Celestia said as she showed her the very new girl, “This is Sunset Shimmer, she’s going to be staying with us for a while, she’s going to be like your new sister so I want you to be kind and nice to her, she’s an orphan and has no parents so she can relate to you and I thought that maybe I could ease your pain if you had someone to talk to if you can’t ever to me or my sister, so just be nice and kind to her, okay?” “I don’t want a new sister, I want my mother,” Rainbow Dash said. “I know, and she does too, but we can’t all have what we want and wish.” “Yeah, we can’t just like I wish that I didn’t have to live with you anymore!” And with that said she darted upstairs very quickly and slammed the door. “Forgive Rainbow Dash, she just recently lost one of her parents,” “Oh, I forgive her, I used to act like that too sometimes, but maybe I should go talk to her to help her out?” Sunset said with a very bright smile on her face. “No, not yet, wait until she’s calmed down enough, then go talk with her.” And with that said she did and when she went into her room she instantly hugged Rainbow Dash, “Look, you’re not alone in this, you have me.” And with that said Rainbow Dash could not refrain from crying and then they talked, got over their issues, smiled, and then she left once they were both good. That had been one of the few good moments of her life, getting a new sister. And another was having all of her friends there, even Celestia as well too. And with that she suddenly heard that there was an emergency now and then dashed off with a smile on her face, because now not only was she the fastest girl alive, but now she was also starting to finally become a hero too. Meanwhile at Hunter Industries Simon was marveling at the wonder that he had seen earlier at his desk when Lightning Dust slowly crept in. “Well hello there, old friend, it’s very nice to see you again,” he said with a smile on his face oblivious to the grim demeanor that she wore right now. “I don’t think that we were ever friends, only partners in science,” she said. “Don’t be ridiculous, we can still be friends, for example today I saw the impossible happen when someone save my life, and I want you to be a part of it. I mean imagine the possibilities, it could redefine what it means to be human, I mean our speed would be increased and distance and time wouldn’t matter that much anymore, so what do you say, are you in or out instead?” “I’m out because what you saw belongs to me,” she said putting her cane down now. “What the-,” Simon tried to say to no avail as she continued speaking onwards now. “And what you saw, she’s called The Dash, or at least she will be someday, and I cannot allow you to harm her safety or life by putting her in any kind of danger or peril with your tiny little experiments, and please don’t take your death personally, because trust me when I say that it’s not.” And with that said she quickly vibrated her hand and reached inside his chest and then crushed his heart, and then slowly he gasped his last and then died. And with that said she smiled, cleaned up after herself, and then she dragged him away to a secure safe location so that he wouldn’t be found very easily. And with that she left to go back to the labs to play her role right now. > Things of the Past > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Three Rainbow Dash came out of the movie theater with Sunset Shimmer and also Twilight Sparkle who she had finally managed to get some free time from her work in now. And now they had finally finished a very bad horror movie. "Regular movie scale, that was a seven or an eight. Zombie movie scale, it was, like, a four, tops. And the horror, it was really cheesy to say the least I think,” Twilight said as they walked now. “Wait, there’s a zombie movie scale?” “Yeah, of course there is, it’s judged and based upon how scary looking and real they are or how accurately they would portray a real-life representation instead, I mean did you guys know that zombies exist in nature for real?” “No, we didn’t,” Rainbow Dash said, “But now we do, thanks a lot.” “It’s really an interesting story, but I think I would just bore you guys.” “Don’t worry Twilight, we don’t mind you going into full nerd.” “And for that I thank you a lot, but I have to get home now, big day at work tomorrow, and I also need my sleep too,” Twilight said as she left them now. “Okay, alright, fine then,” Sunset said as she left, “Have it your way then.” “You do realize that she can’t hear you anymore?” Rainbow Dash said. “Oh I know, I just don’t care, but I really do like her, a lot,” she said with a very bright smile on her face as she watched Twilight drive away now then. “Oh my gosh, you’re in love with her, aren’t you?” Rainbow Dash said now. “Don’t be ridiculous, why would I ever be in love with her?” she said now. “Oh I don’t know, she does look pretty cute at certain angles you know.” “How dare you suggest such a thing, I will have you know that I am a lady.” “So is she I’m sure, but I don’t think that’s going to stop either of you now.” “You’re right, I do have feelings for her, but how do I tell her them exactly?” “Well my general approach is just to tell them straight to the face directly, but I have a feeling that this might not be the best for Twilight even though she is in science and probably would like a straight direct message rather than very subtle hints and clues instead, but just write or so something, anything at all, but just say or do something otherwise she will never know just how you feel.” “Thanks a lot, I think that I’ll use that the next time that I see her.” “No problem, you can come to me anytime that you have a problem.” And with that said Sunset started to throw away her popcorn when Rainbow very quickly grabbed it. “Oh my gosh, you ate like three bags of this and a whole entire pizza, how are you still hungry after this?” Sunset said now. “I don’t know, I just know that I am,” she said chewing on it right now then. “Well how are you able to still stay so skinny all the time?” Sunset said now. “Uh, I’ve been jogging very recently, it’s my new hobby,” Rainbow said. “Huh, I guess that makes sense, but will you be fine on your own?” “Uh yeah, I have a ride,” Sunset said now then, “Celestia is going to be picking me up because Luna is going to be busy right now. But I really do have to talk to her about letting me have a car now that I’m old enough to drive.” “Yeah, you really should,” Sunset said pulling out her cell phone as it rang, “Hold on please, it’s a very old friend of mine, just give me a moment.” And with that said she did, but then her cell phone rang as well too then. “What is it exactly? What’s the danger?” she said ready to run now then. “Uh code 237 to your West, but hurry, it isn’t good,” Soarin said now. “Public Indecency? Well of course it’s not good,” she said very confused now. “Uh I think that was supposed to be 239,” Soarin said now. “Dog leash violation?” Rainbow Dash said as she glanced over at Sunset to see that she was still talking on her phone. “No, bad guy with a gun, go right now!” And with that said she did as she very quickly darted to her west now. “What car is he in exactly?” she said looking around at the traffic now. “Blue, and also the one being chased by police cars!” Soarin shouted. “I knew that,” she said as she quickly went into the car and then suddenly the guy wasn’t in his car anymore as it rolled to a stop and the police officers went out to examine it but only saw that it was empty instead. “Where did he go?” one of them said, but then suddenly they heard a very muffled quiet sound from behind them and they turned to see the man cuffed up in the back of their car now. “What the hell?” one of them said very shocked and surprised now. But Rainbow Dash didn’t stick around to see their reactions and facial expressions and very confused comments as she quickly went back to the theater and just in time too as Sunset suddenly hung up her phone now. “Who was that on the phone exactly?” Rainbow Dash said very curiously now. “Just a very old friend of mine, but she dialed me for no important reason.” “Well of course not, why would she?” Rainbow Dash said smirking now then. “Uh, yeah, right, anyhow I think your ride is here now,” Sunset said pointing to princess Celestia as she drove up in a very fiery red hot orange and yellow car now. “Yeah, well I guess I’ll see you later then,” Sunset said waving goodbye now as Sunset said. “You really should consider buying me a car very soon.” “Why and what would that be for exactly?” she said focused on the road now. “Well it would help the appearance that my life I back to normal and regular again, and it is also kind of weird not having one to get around even if I could run everywhere if I wanted to, but I’m just concerned when they will start asking questions about how I get around so fast all the time,” she said now. “Yeah, well I’ll think about it, but I’m not making any promises, okay?” “Alright, fine then, have it your way, I’m just saying something,” she said. “I know that you are, but please, just give me time for this, okay?” “Alright, fine then, you win, I’ll give you some space and time too.” “Good then, now when we get home remember the rules, okay?” “Alright, fine then, no hero business, go to bed, I know all that stuff already.” “Good then, that should make it easy for you to obey me then.” “Yeah, until I can get a job so that I can finally move out at last,” she said. “Hey, at least you don’t have any rent to pay, yet,” she said smiling now then. “Hey, was that a threat I heard?” Rainbow Dash said slightly afraid now. “No, not really, I’m just saying that you should get your life together, that’s all.” “Hey, college is out because that’s boring even if a bit fun, and school is still out as an option for me too, not this girl, she wasn’t sports and action and also adventure too, and being a hero of the whole entire city is a very good place to start off. But honestly don’t pressure me into something that I don’t want to do, okay? Because I’m not going to do anything that I hate or dislike at all, ever.” “Wouldn’t high school be something that you disliked?” she said now. “Well technically the government says that it was my job so I had no choice in the matter, but now I do, and what I say is what’s really important to do first.” “Ok, okay then, fine, alright, that makes sense, your logic and reason are sound,” Celestia said pulling into the front driveway of their house now. “Well then, I’m tired, I better get some sleep now,” Celestia said unlocking the front door with her keys and then going upstairs to her own room now. “Just make sure that you’re quiet, I just want to get some sleep now. And with that said Rainbow Dash did so and very soon enough she felt tired too, and eventually she went into her bed and let dreams consume her. The next day came and Rainbow Dash very quickly found out that she had a case to do. “There was an attack yesterday night and we think that it might have been a meta, and that’s because every person was poisoned with gas but there were no traces of any canisters or anything else like that,” Soarin said. “Wait, are you saying that they can control gasses with their minds?” “Uh yes, we think that they may form a mental nexus with it right now.” “Wow, that is so cool and amazingly awesome, and also dangerous too.” “Yeah, but we really need to figure out a place for you to work or something.” “Well there’s nothing that I really want to do that’s good enough here in town.” “Well always keep your eyes and ears open, never know what might pop up.” “Indeed,” Lightning Dust said now, “You never know what might come to you.” “Lightning, you really need to work on your entrance one of these days now.” “Miss Dash, I don’t need to do anything except keep my promises, pay the bills and also finally to keep you safe, everything else is mostly optional.” “You’re funny, you really should consider doing an act someday,” she said. “Miss Dash, I would highly recommend that you go talk with detective West about this particular case before the evidence is gone, so please go right now.” “Sure thing,” she said very quickly darting out of the room and then back in again, “Uh, where was the attack exactly? I never heard the name from you.” “It’s the food shop on Seventh and Faust Avenue, okay?” she said. “Alight, fine then, I’m going,” she said suddenly leaving them behind now. And with that said she suddenly appeared on the crime scene and saw West there, “Hey there Rainbow Dash, glad you’re here, the other guys can’t make any sense of this, I mean no traces of canisters or any gas in their system at all either, it was almost like the gas could be controlled by somebody very dangerous out there,” he said giving her a glare now. “Hey, not my fault, I’m just trying to help with the team back at the labs, I’m not responsible for the other meta humans that are out there, besides, we’re still trying to figure them out too as well now.” “Well I just hope that they have something that can analyze these tissue samples better than we can,” he said handing her a few tightly sealed plastic bags now. “Gross,” she said, “But yeah, I think that they might have something like that, but who were these guys anyways?” she said pointing at all the bodies now. “Criminals, not good guys, but we’re more concerned about the guy who killed them, I mean if he is a meta then he is a very powerful one apparently.” “Oh,” she said now then, “Well we’ll look into it and get back to you very soon.” And with that said she took the tissue samples back to the labs very quickly down now. “I hope that you have something to analyze this,” she said tossing them unto a desk, “Because I really don’t want to have to go back again now.” “Don’t worry, we do, but what we don’t have is something to contain a meta who can control gas, or any power we’ve seen yet so far,” Soarin said now. “Yes, indeed, we should probably try to figure that out very soon and quickly now because I don’t think Iron Heights can handle humans with these powers now.” “You’re right Lightning, but what could we use as a prison to hold them?” “I think that we already have something here in the labs,” she said smiling now. “And what would that be exactly?” Soarin said scratching his head right now. “Try to figure it out, you have a head and you know what’s here, use what you know to try to figure out the unknown and solve the equation,” she said. “Well we do have the broken parts of the reactor, and they have a very strong magnetic field that just might hold the meta humans if we can reconfigure it.” “Exactly, now get on that right now, we’ll need to hold our new meta if there is one and if we do catch them, and I don’t want to be unprepared either.” And with that said Soarin smiled as his busy mind went to work now, but Spitfire on the other hand was very nervous and had a look of fear on her right now then. “Hey, are you okay?” Rainbow Dash said going over to her right now then. “Yeah, sure I am, it’s just that I haven’t been down there ever since the night that Frosty died, and I just don’t know if I can because I might not be ready yet.” “Well, what if someone went down there with you? Would you be ready then?” “I guess so, but it might not help how I feel or what I remember at all.” “Well trust me, I’ll always be there for you down there no matter what happens to either of us, and that’s a promise, and you can trust me, I’m your friend,” she said trying to comfort her as she put a hand on her shoulder right now then. “Yeah, thanks a lot, and I know that I can trust you,” she said trying to put on a smile now. “Come on now then, you know the way, you just have to be brave enough to walk the pathway,” she said gently pushing Spitfire in front of her now then, and as she did Spitfire took very deep breaths in as she approached the place of Frosty’s death, and as she got closer the memories started to return and haunt her once more again, and this time they were very vivid now instead. “Alright everyone, the moment that I flip this switch and press the button the future of the whole entire world will change, so who’s ready for tomorrow right now?” Everyone shouted at Lightning Dust’s motivation and inspiring speech now. “Alright, fine then,” she said doing it, “And now it looks like we are good to go now, and I feel like I should say something like ‘Eureka’, but all I can say is that I feel like I have been waiting for this moment for centuries now,” she said smiling now. “Well it looks like all the systems are running smoothly, I think that it’s time for a bit of celebratory drinks,” Frosty said pulling out some very fine and expensive wine now. “Frosty, you didn’t have to do this for us,” Spitfire said smiling now. “Well I kind of did, Lightning Dust said I had to, but mostly it was for you my dear.” Everyone in the room let out a very collective awing sound right now then. “Oh get a room you two,” Lightning Dust said pouring the first glass of wine now then and taking a very light sip of it. Frosty laughed at that comment and then glanced at the screens, “You know I expected something a bit more dramatic, you know, more boom, more flare, something like that, but no, it’s very quiet instead.” “Trust me, if it went boom then that would be very bad, and trust me, I know, I designed the whole entire thing,” Lightning Dust said also staring at the screens now then. And then suddenly there was a very loud deep rumbling sound. “Was that a big boom?” Frosty said very nervously and concerned now then. Her memory ended when Rainbow Dash suddenly decided to ask her a question now. “So what did happen on that night exactly?” she said right now then. “We activated the machine and turned it on, everything was running fine and very smoothly, but then an unexpected increase in the magnetic chamber eventually lead it to explode causing the accident and your powers too of course. “I thought I held the future in my hands, and I did, but I also held so much more that I didn’t know about too,” Lightning Dust said finishing her speech now. “Yeah, and now we just hold the greatest thing ever in this whole entire world, you,” Soarin said opening the door to a very old and ruined chamber now then. And then suddenly the rest of her memory came back to her very vividly now. “What the hell is happening here now?” Frosty shouted as they ran very quickly to the chambers now. “The magnetic field is increasing, and we need to shut it down right now, and if we can’t we need to minimize the damage it causes.” “I’ll go,” he said, “But if I’m not back here in two minutes then I want you to shut this door, okay? You need to minimize the harm caused for everyone else.” “But if I shut the door you’ll be locked in,” Soarin said very nervously now then. “Well that’s just a sacrifice that I’ll have to make, and don’t argue with me, we don’t have time, and remember, two minutes,” Frosty said ready to go now. “Three,” Soarin said, “Otherwise I’m going to have to go in and not you.” Frosty smiled, “Alright, fine then, three minutes, but no more, okay?” “Alright, fine then, you win,” Soarin said setting his watch to the proper time now. And with that said Frosty went in and the timer very slowly went down. “Come on Frosty, I know that you can do this,” Soarin said staring at his watch as it slowly came down to the last minute and then the final seconds too now. And then finally it reached zero and he sighed as he locked the door now. And then suddenly Spitfire came in. “Soarin, where’s Frosty?” she said. “He’s in there, but don’t go in, it’s not safe and it’s also locked now,” he said. “Are you crazy? You locked him in and now he doesn’t have any chance to live.” “But we do, he did this for us, he did this for you,” Soarin said, “And now we’ll just have to see if it’s enough, but only time will tell that now.” And with that said they waited and eventually Frosty came back. “There’s no hope for it,” he said, “It’s going to blow, but I managed to make the harm minimal, this place won’t blow up but there still might be leakage now.” “Don’t worry, you did your best, I’m just sorry that you’re stuck in there now.” “Yeah, I guess I should have given you more time,” he said with a very light smile and laugh fading now, “But I guess that it’s too late now, but at least I won’t die alone, I have you here, and I know that I will be remembered as a hero at least.” “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few,” Soarin said trying to lighten the mood, but he failed, but at least Frosty still managed to smile now. “You’re always funny Soarin, even to the end, and Spitfire, don’t cry too long for me, just get on and move forward with your life, don’t linger on the past, just don’t let this moment and even hold you back, okay? I want you to always be happy. Find someone else or don’t, but just be happy, okay? Promise me this, please.” “Alright, fine then, you win, I promise Frosty, I won’t let you down,” she said as tears started to flow down her face now. “You know I always thought that I would either die old and happy with you, or very heroically in a sacrifice,” he said now, “I guess that it turned out to be the second choice, just don’t you ever forget about me, please, I want to be remembered, but the city doesn’t need to know who it was that saved the city if you feel like this is just too much for you, okay?” “Alright, fine then, we’ll try to make them know and remember you.” “Thanks, but honestly I just need you to remember, that’s all I really need now.” And with that said suddenly an even louder boom echoed and they saw a very bright wave of light and energy rapidly approach them, “Frosty, I love you!” “I love you too, Spitfire,” he said as the wave suddenly hit them and he vanished with it as his whole entire body seemed to disintegrate with it too as well. And as he did Spitfire screamed as she sobbed on the floor once he was dead. Her memory interfered with her concentration and focus when she suddenly snapped back to reality to hear Soarin repeatedly ask her the same question. “Spitfire, are you okay?” he said waving his hand in front of her now then. “I’m fine,” she said grabbing his hand, “Stop asking me that question please.” “Alright then, fine, you win,” he said shaking his hand free of her release now. “Alright, you two work on containment, and Rainbow Dash, I need to talk with you in private,” Lightning Dust said gesturing for her to come out of the chambers now. “Sure thing,” she said following her now, “Anything for you.” Once they got outside she decided to talk again, “So what is it exactly now?” “You haven’t told any of your friends about your powers yet, have you?” “No, of course not, why would I, and you also don’t have to keep asking me this.” “Yes, I don’t, but I keep my ears and eyes open for any news on the streets, and I have heard that your friend Sunset Shimmer is investigating you now.” “Where did you hear that from exactly?” she said very curious now. “I have my resources, but you need to send her a message to stop, this isn’t safe for her and she could get hurt, and if she doesn’t stop on her own then make her, talk to her, do something, but make sure that she doesn’t continue to chase you, we don’t want the local press and media to get word of this just yet. And when we finally do reveal a hero we’ll have to do it very carefully and slowly.” “Well look, I’ll try, but I won’t make any promises, okay?” “Alright, fine then, I can work with that, but stay safe and smart Miss Dash.” And with that said Lightning Dust left and then suddenly her cell phone rang, “Hey there Celestia,” she said, “What’s up exactly?” “Rainbow Dash, I’ve been thinking about your future and I think that I actually might have a job for you at school if you want it, I mean it doesn’t pay much but it’s definitely in your field and realm of experience,” she said now then. “Alright, fine then, what is it exactly?” she said slightly nervous now then. “Well it’s being the assistant soccer coach until the one we have has retired now; the hours are flexible and after school but before you have to fight crime at night, and if it doesn’t work out then at least you know what not to do at least.” “Hey, don’t stereotype all my crime fighting at night,” she said now then. “Hey, you can’t blame me if I do that, I have to try make jokes now at least.” “I don’t blame you, but thanks for the offer, I’ll think about it.” “Okay then, fine, just let me know if you want it, alright?” “Don’t worry, I will, bye now, I love you,” she said now. “Love you too,” Celestia said as Rainbow Dash closed her phone now then. And then suddenly it rang again very quickly. “What is it this time?” she said not even bothering to glance at the names anymore. “We have a report of an attack at the mall, go right now,” Soarin said. And then suddenly she did as she quickly darted to it and saw a very shadowy man there. “Well hello there,” she said when she saw him “Who are you exactly?” “No one, now go away, my business is not with you,” he said. “Why did you kill that woman?” she said pointing to the body right now then. “She deserved to die, and so will you if you don’t go away right now.” “Sorry, can’t, you broke the law and now you’ll have to pay for it.” “I’m also sorry too, because I’m going to have to kill you,” he said as he suddenly turned into a black dark mist gas and then went around and started to choke her making her unable to breathe now. “Rainbow Dash! Get back here right now!” Soarin shouted in her headset, and very slowly she tried to do so and then she quickly managed to dart back to the labs where the team was waiting for her and when she got back they quickly laid her in a bed and started to work. “Now then, this might hurt just a bit since we can’t give you anything for the pain because your system would just filter it out,” Spitfire said. “Just do what you have to,” Soarin said to her, “And don’t lie either.” And with that said Spitfire plunged a syringe into Rainbow’s lungs. Rainbow took in a very deep gasp of air and started to breathe normally again. “We’ll need to analyze her tissue very quickly,” Soarin said, “It’s a fresh sample, the ones from the crime scene weren’t, so can you get on that right now please?” “Sure thing,” Spitfire said doing her job and started to analyze it now. “Wow, you could have been killed back there,” Soarin said. “The meta human, he didn’t control gas, he was the gas,” Rainbow said now. Soarin laughed at that comment, “That sounds so wrong when you say it that way,” he said unable to contain his busts of joy and delight, “But honestly I probably shouldn’t laugh so hard after what you went through, sorry for that.” “It’s okay, I would laugh too if I wasn’t trying to breathe normally,” she said now. “Yeah, well at least your experience wasn’t any worse, but we’ll get back to you as soon as we know who was in you exactly,” Soarin said as he left her now then. Rainbow Dash just sat on her bed as she struggled to breathe normally. Meanwhile Lightning Dust decided to have a much-needed talk with Celestia now. “Celestia,” she said entering her office, “I need to talk with you right now.” “Sure thing,” she said not even bothered that she was here now, “What about?” “Rainbow Dash, I have noticed very recently that you seem to doubt her.” “I don’t doubt her, I’m just looking out for her safety, that’s all,” she said. “Is it? So long as Rainbow Dash thinks you doubt her then she’ll doubt herself, she needs the help and support of other people around her to be the hero that she needs to be, and that means you not only need to trust her, but also support and agree with her sometimes even if you think it’s not the best way to protect her. The world is a very dangerous place, and she’s just trying to make it better for everyone, including you, the least you could do is to support her even if not for me or yourself then do it for her at least, and please don’t let either of us down now, I have had far too many failures, and Rainbow Dash needs to be someone that can succeed where I failed, someone to fix the mistakes of my past, someone that can inspire people to greatness and change the future too. Her greatest enemy isn’t what she faces out there, it’s fear and doubt too.” “Alright, fine then, I won’t doubt her, I’ll support her,” Celestia said then now. “Good, and the best place to start would be with someone that she cares about.” “You mean her mom? I suppose so, I mean I did see Rainbow Dash in action, and she was a blur just like what she saw kill her father, perhaps she was right.” “I don’t know about that, as I already told Rainbow she is special and unique and also different and I highly doubt that there would be anyone with her powers back then, much less two,” Lightning Dust said as she started to leave now. “Alright fine then, but thanks for the advice,” Celestia said as she left now then. Meanwhile back at the labs the latest tissue sample just came back in now. “That’s weird,” Spitfire said staring at it, “It says that there’s two separate strands of DNA in here, and there’s hydrogen cyanide with traces of a sedative.” “Yeah, and the DNA confirmed what we saw on the mall cameras,” Soarin said handing her a photo of the man that she saw, “Sombra is back again.” “Who’s Sombra exactly?” Rainbow Dash said staring at the picture now. “A really old guy who was the mayor, but then the people eventually found out that he was getting into all kinds of illegal stuff, shady dark deals, exchanging money for crystal meth, selling illegal drugs, trying to get into the diamond business, that sort of stuff, and when they did he was replaced with someone else, but when they tried to he acted out very violently and was sent to jail, and he was very recently sentenced to death after being declared criminally insane.” “Wow, that’s crazy,” Rainbow Dash said continuing to gaze at the picture. “Yeah, and I did some digging and found out his death was scheduled at the exact same time that our particle accelerator just so happened to explode at. And I guess that the resulting explosion let him be able to turn into a gas, and as for the sedative, well gas chambers use that a lot for their victims frequently.” “Okay, that is both slightly disturbing and also very creepy,” she said. “I guess so to some people, but it’s actually a very humane way to die now compared to everything else like fire and guns and other stuff like that too.” “So if he can turn into a gas then how can I defeat or catch him exactly?” “You don’t,” lightning Dust said, “You will wear him out by running away from him, but not too far since he seems to be a single minded very focused person, gas is the least stable form of matter and energy so he shouldn’t be able to keep being in a gaseous state forever and he will need to revert back to his original normal regular form to try to recover and also regain his energy again too.” “Oh,” she said, “Alright, I guess that it should work, but how will I know where he’s going to strike next? I mean I don’t want him to kill another person again.” “Nurse Redheart was a sad accident, and yes, that was the name of the woman he killed, but I think I know who he will go after next,” she said handing her a paper file folder, “The cop that closed this case and also Sombra, it was West.” “Well then, we need to warn him right now,” she said trying to get up. “Easy Rainbow Dash, and we can’t warn him, he wouldn’t even believe us about this, and even if he did I don’t think he would be very willing to accept our help.” “West is a good guy, he’ll accept anyone’s help if it doesn’t get in the way.” “Well West might know about us, but he’s not the same type of person as us either, and right now I think he would be at Iron Heights with Celestia.” “And how do you know that exactly?” Rainbow Dash said very curiously now. “Let’s just say that not even the cops can hide their activities from me.” Meanwhile back at the jailhouse Celestia was with West indeed now. Celestia pulled out the box of evidence from Rainbow Dash’s case. “Me and Rainbow Dash have been through this many times,” she said. “Yeah, but we’ve never gone through it with the knowledge that we have now, since we know that there is a person who can speed up at incredible speeds.” “Yeah, I guess so, but for now we should try to keep this secret, I mean I wouldn’t want to get her hopes up, and in other news there is going to be a meta human prison to contain the individuals that they face, and not just a regular ordinary person like Rainbow Dash does with that recent police car chase that you had.” “Oh, I thought that there was something off about that,” West said now then, “Alright, you can have your chance to talk with Eleanora, but you won’t have very long, and make sure that you say what you want to her, okay then?” “Alright fine then, thanks,” Celestia said as Eleanora was brought in now. “Hey there Celestia, why are you here to talk with me exactly? You know, the woman who decided to kill a little tiny girl’s father in front of her now?” “No, it’s actually about you, I believe Rainbow Dash now, and I think that me and detective West are going to be working on a way to figure a way for you to get out, and all that you need to know about Rainbow Dash is that she’s a truly amazing person, and I think that you would be very proud of her if you could see her, because you see, she’s not so little and tiny anymore, she’s big and strong, and now she’s doing things that I could have never thought of before this.” “I’m very glad to hear that, and I thank you for your words.” “You’re welcome, I just wish that I could have been there for you sooner.” “It’s okay, you’re here for me now, and that’s all that really matters.” “I have to do something,” Rainbow Dash said. “No, not until we find an antidote for our new meta human threat.” “Yeah, he can turn into a mist and kill people. The Mist, that’s his name, end of the talk,” Soarin said smiling as he clapped his hands together very loudly now. “Look, you can’t save everyone even with your speed and powers.” “You can’t always be together like fire and ice, me and Frosty,” Spitfire said. “But you can be the persona and hero that we need you to be right now.” “Alright, fine then, I’ll wait, but if something comes up I’m going, okay?” “Alright, fine then, just have some patience with us, okay?” “I do, but the killer, our meta human, he might not have that patience.” “I know, I just hope that we have enough time to stop him,” Lightning Dust said. “Time is an enemy of all, it takes, it can give love or make you a hero, makes ones in love be able to marry, and it also erases the memory of heroes.” “Spitfire, it doesn’t matter if the city knows who saved it, it just matters that we do,” Rainbow dash said going over to her now and hugging her very quickly. “Here, take this,” Spitfire said handing her a syringe, “It’s an antidote to the poison, I hope that you don’t need it, but if you do then try not to use it on yourself, I wouldn’t want to get hurt, now then, go save the day now.” And with that said Rainbow Dash took the syringe and raced off to Iron Heights prison, “Okay, I think that I can talk you through this place,” Soarin said. “Don’t bother, I’ve been trying to figure a way out into this place since I was a kid,” Rainbow Dash said as she quickly raced in to see that Sombra was already there choking the life from West, and she quickly had to use the syringe to inject in him, and then she leaned over to check his breathing, and it was very good now. And then she lifted her head to see her mother there and then she quickly vibrated her face. “Go get him” she said and with that said she went after Sombra now. “You can’t beat me,” he said, “And now I will have my power back again.” “You’re wrong,” Rainbow Dash said, “Come after me and you’ll see.” “Gladly,” he said smiling as he went into his gas form and went after her now. Eventually after some running Sombra quickly tired out and she managed to capture him, “Guys, we won,” she said, and then she brought him back to the labs. And when Sombra woke up he was in a glass cage that he couldn’t get out of now. “Are you sure that he’s safe in there?” Spitfire said nervously, “It has a magnetic force more powerful than earth, so yes, it should be very safe indeed,’ Lightning Dust said as she watched him vent his anger out now. “He seems very angry,” she said to herself. “You can’t keep me in here forever!” he screamed, “I will have my revenge!” “Yeah, good night,” Lightning Dust said now then as the chambers closed now. And with that said Rainbow Dash decided to go check on Celestia who was in the hospital now, but she eventually fell asleep, and when she woke up she saw that Celestia was there smiling at her. “It sure has been a very long time since I saw you sleeping,” she said chuckling to herself now. “Yeah, sorry about that.” “Don’t be, Sombra was very powerful, and you didn’t know that someone could get hurt, and you can’t save everyone, but you do try to help at least.” “Yeah, well thanks for supporting me, it sure does mean a lot to me.” “Hey, I really miss the days when I could ground you,” Celestia said smiling now. “Yeah, well I think that your sister is here to see you now, so I’ll be leaving you now,” she said as she saw Luna waving at the door and then she left. “Hey there,” Luna said coming in with Eddie, “Nice to see you.” “It’s a bit odd that you two show up at the exact same time now.” “Celestia, we have something very important to tell you,” she said now. “You two are dating, I know,” Celestia said, “You two are terrible liars.” “Wait, how did you know that exactly?” Luna said. “I’ve known it for a while, but you two really should work on lying.” “We meant to tell you, but we just didn’t know how exactly?” “Because you thought it would make it real, I know, but if I wasn’t in this bed right now then we would be having a completely different story right now.” “Yeah, I’ll just be outside looking into witness protection,” Eddie said now. And with that said he left to go outside and leave them all alone now then. “So, you’re not upset at me?” Luna said very nervously right now then with a bit of fear in her voice since she really knew her sister very well now. “Oh, I am, I just think that if you think he’s good enough for you, and if you both like each other than I’m fine with it, but I just don’t want to talk about it yet, okay?” Celestia said trying to reason with her sister right now then too. “Okay then, fine alright, I can work out with that,” Luna said now then. “Good, because I’m just not good with this just yet, okay?” “Alright, fine then, you don’t want to talk yet, that’s totally cool.” “Yeah, well thanks for understanding,” Celestia said, “Now I just need rest.” “Okay then, fine, alright,” Luna said leaving Celestia behind now then. Rainbow Dash decided to go see her mom after all that had happened now. “Have I ever told you the story about how you first learned to walk?” she said. “Yeah, a few times now actually,” Rainbow Dash said smiling now then. “All the other kids were running around, but you weren’t, but your dad, he never worried, he always said that you would walk when you had something important to go for, and sure enough he was right, the first time that you did you ran straight into his arms,” she said smiling as she talked about this story now then. “Yeah, that story never gets old,” Rainbow Dash said smiling now then. “Rainbow Dash, I am so proud of you, you mean so much to me, and I know that you’re trying to run from your past and pain, that you’re trying to fight it, and that’s a good thing, but you sometimes just need to accept some things now. You just have to accept some things, and if you don’t then you’re never going to be able to improve, and if you don’t then you won’t be your best.” “Thanks mom, thanks a lot, your words, they mean so much.” “I know, I love you Rainbow Dash, please stay safe for me,” she said still smiling. “I will, I love you too,” she said as she watched her mother being taken away again, and then she decided to go out for a run and be a hero now then. And this time she wouldn’t bother to fight what she felt, she would accept it instead. Flashback “Lightning Dust, Frosty managed to contain the reaction,” Soarin said now. “Good then,” she said, “I’ll meet you soon, but right now I have something else to see right now,” she said as she slowly wandered to her secret chamber and watched Rainbow Dash at the high school and she smiled as she saw the lightning strike her now, “I’ll see you very soon, Dash,” she said and then with that said she went back to work to play her role and fit in right now then. > Cold Heart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Four “Rainbow Dash you need to try to focus and concentrate.” “I am,” she said hitting a ping pong ball back to Soarin as she very quickly went over to Lightning Dust and moved a chess piece, “And I’m doing it quite well.” “Remind me why we’re doing this again?” Spitfire said. “Because it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun,” Rainbow Dash said moving over to the board game. “But it’s not even anatomically correct,” she complained. “I told you, fun, not correct,” she said going back over to the ping pong table. “Yes, and we’re testing Rainbow Dash’s ability to focus and concentrate on doing multiple tasks,” Lightning Dust said moving one her pieces now then. Rainbow Dash quickly came over and moved one of here, “I’m waiting for you to move,” and then she went back to the ping pong table. “Wow, you’re really good at this game,” Soarin said. “I played soccer and we did this while we were waiting, so yeah, I have learned a few skills and tricks with this,” she said smiling now then. “Well that would explain why you’re so good at this,” Soarin said now then. “Checkmate,” Lightning Dust suddenly said moving one of her pieces. “Really?” she said with great shock and surprise to see the board now then. “Yes, really,” she said smiling as she proudly presented the board to her now then, “I guess that you still have a few things to learn if you want to be a hero.” “Yeah, I guess I do, but just for the record I totally rocked in Ping Pong and the other game,” she said smiling, but as she did there suddenly was an alert. “We have a robbery on the highway, downtown., go right now,” Soarin said. Rainbow Dash smiled, “Catch you later then I guess.” “Yes indeed, because we will need to talk about something very serious.” And with that said she zipped off, quickly changed into her suit and went away as the buzzer went off in the game for Spitfire. “It’s much harder than it really looks,” she said trying to come up with a reasonable explanation but failing and falling far short of the mark. Rainbow Dash sped towards the location by voice direction and eventually got there just in time to see four men robbing an armored truck. “Well hello there everyone, would you mind kindly to stop what you’re doing right now?” she said very politely before she pulled their masks off. They started to try running away but before they could she tried to stop them, but then one of the men decided to use an ice gun on her which when she examined the truck she guessed that it had been used before previously then. Suddenly when the ice beam hit her it felt like the whole entire world was starting to slow down around her, and it gave them just enough time to escape her. “Rainbow Dash? Is something wrong? Your vitals just dropped,” Soarin said. But before she could respond she was back at the labs to see them now. “I wasn’t fast enough,” she said, “I couldn’t catch them, and I should be able to.” “Rainbow Dash, no one could have ever possibly known that they had an ice gun,” Spitfire said. But Soarin said nothing as he looked down at the ground with great guilt. “Soarin, is there something that you wish to say to all of us?” “I did actually, I built an ice gun just in case we needed to stop Rainbow Dash, and it was just a safety measure and precaution, I didn’t know you then like I do now, I mean what if you turned out to be a villain like one of them instead?” “But I didn’t, did I?” she said very angrily now then. “Please don’t be angry at me, I swear I wouldn’t ever use it against you now and it’s only been missing for a couple days now ever since a janitor came in and then suddenly quit.” “And you didn’t think to report this missing weapon directly to me first?” “I thought that I could handle it by finding it first, clearly I was wrong.” “Indeed, now then I want you to figure a way out that you can track those men that tried to rob the armored truck, and as for you Miss Dash, you can go do whatever you want, I don’t think anything much else that’s new or interesting will happen now, but if something does come up, including crime, then we’ll let you know,” Lightning Dust said gesturing to the doors now then. “Thanks, I think it’s about time that I get to spend some free time with some of my old friends.” “Yes, indeed, like me perhaps?” a very familiar voice said from the doorway. “Felix? Is that you?” Rainbow Dash said going over to him and hugging him very tightly, “Man, it’s been like forever since I’ve seen you, where have you been exactly? I mean the Shining Crystal Company can’t keep you that busy, can it?” “Well sometimes, I mean I do work with the White Knight after all,” he said. “Wait, you work with the White Knight? Do you know who he is?” Soarin said. “Let’s just say that I may or may not, but my team is very familiar in setup and design to yours, except that ours deals with slightly more pointy objects instead.” “Well it sure is nice to see you here, but is there any reason why you’re in town?” “I just wanted to come on over, drop by and say hello and visit some old friends, anything wrong with that?” he said now then. “No, I just expected some major big huge crisis that only I could help with,” she said now then. “Not every visit has to involve peril and danger you know,” Felix said with a very slight smile and laugh now then. “Yeah, I guess so, but it sure is nice to see you here,” Rainbow Dash said now then. “Yeah, I’m going to be here for a while.” “Oh, interesting, does that mean that I can show you the city sights and the nightlife too as well?” Rainbow Dash said almost hopping up and down now then. “Well I guess so, but trust me, Silver City has plenty of nightlife in it already.” “Yeah!!! Well then bye you guys, I guess that I’ll see you later on,” she said now then. “Bye Rainbow Dash, make sure to always be safe,” Lightning said now then, and the other said that too, and with that said they both left now then. “So then, how’s life going with Shining exactly?” Rainbow Dash said now then. “Very good, I guess it could be better as well as worse too,” he said. “What a very realistic answer, but tell me this, why come here now?” “Well I don’t know really, I guess that I just had some free time on my hands, and speaking of free time I hear that you’ve been a hero in your spare time?’ “Well yes, I can do incredible amazing radical awesome things and stuff.” “So I’ve heard, but you forgot radical,” he said now then, “But can I ask you just a quick question?” he said very nervously now then. “Sure thing,” she said now then. “Do you mind showing me it? Your powers I mean, not something else.” “Well of course,” she said smiling and then pointing at a random building now then, “You see that tower over there? Just wait and watch,” she said quickly running towards the very top of it, shouting, and then very quickly ran back down again. “Wow, that really was everything that I’ve heard so far,” he said now then. “Here, I took a picture of you, but don’t post that please, you really shouldn’t,” she said now then as her shoes started to smoke. “Rainbow Dash!!! Your shoes are smoking!!!” Felix said now then. Rainbow Dash quickly had to stomp out the flames and stop the smoke. “Yeah that can happen when I collide with the air too fast and cause a lot of friction, which is why I have a suit that helps with that,” she said now then. “Oh, can I see it, please?” Felix said now then. “I’m sure that you’ll get to see it later when I’m fighting crime, but for right now I need to get over to the police department and help them with the crime, but I’ll catch you later, okay then?” she said as she started to jog away. “Okay then, bye,” Felix said as she darted away to the police station. “Hey there West,” she said once she finally got there, “What’s up?” “Oh nothing too much, I mean we did have that armored truck robbery which I would assume you tried to stop but then somehow failed in the process?” “They had an ice gun with them and there were four of them,” she said now then. “Well did you spot anything to help us find them at all?” West said now then. “Yeah, I did, their faces,” she said smiling now then. “Oh, well then here’s a folder with a list of every known criminal within the city,” he said handing her it as she suddenly then started to rapidly flip the pages and pointed to one face. “There, that’s the one that had the ice gun,” she said now then. “Leonard Snow, not a very nice guy at all, and you’re right he is a natural leader, he’s lead many groups of people and men, and he won’t stop until he gets what he wants, thanks a lot, I’m sure that this will help,” he said now then. “Well that kind of figures if he’s on the list of known criminals,” she said now then. “Very funny, now then I’m sure that you have other places to be right now.” “I don’t actually, because I wanted to talk to you about my mom’s case.” “Look, I’m doing my best with what I have, but I can’t make any promises, and neither can Celestia, but we’ll do all that we can to free her, okay?” “Sure thing, I believe you, but my mom has spent the last decade behind a prison cell with only one bed for a crime that she didn’t even ever commit at all.” “And now we know that, but if we’re going to get her out of there we’re going to need to be careful and move very slow, the jury came back with a verdict of guilty within less time than an hour, but they moved too fast and acted based upon what they knew, so they weren’t exactly foolish, stupid or rash, just ignorant instead, but trust me Rainbow Dash, we will do all that we can to help her out now then, and we won’t ever stop until we find a way to get her out, okay then?” “Fine, I believe you, thanks, but is there anything new on that yet?” “Nope, but we did recently just find the body of Simon Hunter.” “You mean that guy with the science industries? What does that have to do with anything at all exactly?” she said very curiously now then. “We don’t know yet, but we can’t figure out how he died because his heart was crushed and ripped out, but there’s no DNA, tools, weapons, or any surgical instruments at all.” “Weird, well then good luck on that, I think that I’m going to see my friends now.” “If you see Eddie make sure to give him a good punch in the face foe him from me,” West said jokingly as he went back to his work as Rainbow Dash left. Next Rainbow dash decided to go back to Felix who was now at a coffee shop. “Wow, I never ever knew that Sugarcube Corner had this many good choices of drinks,” he said sipping some fresh made apple cider down now then. “Yeah, well they are kind of famous for their seasonal cider,” she said now then, “And of course it’s traditional with the farm and all, one of the only few places left that would rather stick with their old traditions than change to the world.” “Well sometimes you need to stand up against the whole entire world, especially if it’s doing something you know is wrong,” he said now then. “Yeah, I guess that you’re right, but while you’re here do you want to meet my other friends?” “You mean the ones that have all graduated high school? Nah, I think that I’m fine and good, I mean I did visit Rarity’s for a nice suit, I saw Fluttershy at the animal shelter and boy was eh lovely as ever, and of course I saw AJ, she’s always so hard working and honest, two traits that I really value and appreciate in a girl, and Twilight, well I don’t think I can be a guest at her company even with you just to see her, so yeah, I think that I’m really good on friends, besides, they don’t matter nearly as much as you do, but if you do want to have your friends come over with you then I have found the perfect activity for all of you tonight,” he said handing her a paper flier, “Pop trivia quiz and questions, right up your alley and mine too, although I think you should leave the answers up to me.” “Yeah, you’re probably right, but yeah, I think I’ll invite a few over because I already have one in mind,” she said now then, “Just give me a moment, I’ll be back in a flash,” and with that said she quickly ran over to Luna’s house. Meanwhile… “So I’ve been meaning to ask you something for a while now,” Eddie said holding up a box, “I know that we’ve been dating for a whole now and with Christmas coming up I just felt like this would be a very good great time for this chance and opportunity,” he said now then with a great big huge wide vast smile on his face now then. “Oh Eddie, it’s wonderful,” Luna said holding up the key. “Yeah, well I just figured you should have one to the apartment just in case, but if you ever do want to come move over with me then just let me know, okay?” “Alright, fine then, but be prepared to die just in case my sister finds out,” she said leaning over to kiss him. And that was when Rainbow Dash suddenly came in. “Bad time?” she said trying to leave now. “No, it’s fine, we’re all friends here,” Luna said very casually now then turning to the door where Rainbow Dash stood, “But what did you want to talk to me about then now exactly?” she said smiling. “Well I was wondering if you two would like to join me and my friend Felix at an activity tonight, come ready and prepared to answer some pop trivia quiz questions and the attire, I would say casual to semi-formal I guess,” she said now then. “Oh, good, I don’t think that we’ve ever really met your friend Felix before, have we Luna?” Eddie said now then. “I have before, very briefly though, he works over at Silver City, you know the one full of nightlife parties.” “Oh, well that would explain why I’ve never seen him before, but yeah, sure thing, we would love to go, I mean it’s about time that we met someone new, right?” “Sure thing, anything for you or Rainbow Dash,” Luna said smiling now then. “Oh get a room you two,” Rainbow Dash said now then. “But we already are in a room, but I’m very surprised and shocked that you would ever say such a thing, or suggest that,” Eddie said smiling now then. “I’m nineteen years old, trust me, I already know what sex is, I’m an adult now, not a kid anymore,” she said. “Clearly, but at what point did that ever happen exactly?” Luna said now then. “I don’t know, but asking about it probably won’t help you find the answer.” “No, it won’t, well then we’ll be ready at the right time which is-?” “Six, on the dot, make sure that you’re ready and prepared by then, okay?” Rainbow Dash said smiling now then as she left them suddenly now. “Alright, fine then,” Luna said with a smile on her face as she left them. “Now then, where were we exactly?” she said smiling now then too. “Oh, I can tell you exactly where we left off,” Eddie said smiling now then too. And with that said they continued to talk as Rainbow Dash made her way back to Felix very quickly now then. “Hey, they’ll be coming tonight, or so they say.” “Excellent, finally a group activity that I can attend with people that I actually really know in real life,” Felix said making a fist pump in the air now then. “Wow, you really need to get a life, or a girl instead,” Rainbow Dash said now then. “Says the girl who’s running around the city saving everybody, tell me this, how much time do you have for all of your friends exactly?” he said now then. “Enough, maybe not as much as I would like, but hey, that’s exactly what life is,” she said with a shrug as she started to walk around randomly now then. “Well yeah, you could say the exact same about me too,” he said now then. “Well at least we have each other to talk now, so then what do you want to talk about first exactly?” he said now then. “Well I don’t know exactly, I thought that you would have something for me first,” she said now then. “Well I guess, I mean I’m a nice-looking kind generous guy, right? Yet no matter what I try to do I can’t ever seem to get hooked up with a girl,” he said now then. “And no matter what I try to do I’m always somewhat treated like as if I were a child and not a very young adult instead at the very least, I mean come on, some respect please?” “Yeah, I guess that you’re right. We’re both people who want more but also know that they probably can’t ever possibly have it, and that is our curse to bear.” “Yeah, I guess that we have more in common than we thought.” And with that said they sat in silence and then eventually found a way to leave each other and when the time finally came for the pop trivia quiz they were all there at the right proper time. “Alright guys, if we win this we’ll all get something.” “Yeah, I don’t think that $100 and a 15% off discount card will do that much for us really, honestly,” Luna said. “Hey, you never really know, besides I hear that you get your morning coffee here all the time,” Eddie said to her now then. “Yeah, that’s true,” Luna said, “I come here so often that I’ve actually already received several offers for discounts, including ones from the shop owners personally, but come on, we all have our little tiny qwerks and addictions.” “Well then you would definitely not give an unbiased opinion about their coffee then or how it tastes either instead,” Eddie said with a very slight laugh and smile on his face now then. “Yeah, but I would still give an opinion nonetheless.” “And for that I both love and respect you,” he said now then as his smile only got bigger and wider now then. “Oh get a room you two,” Felix said very dismissively, “But make sure to do it after the contest quiz because I have to concentrate and focus right now,” he said as the questions started to pour in and he got them all right. Eventually though the other members tried their luck at the game. “That’s incorrect!!!” the host shouted very loudly at their team now then. “Eddie, just give up, you’re cute but really terrible and horrible at games,” Luna said to him very softly and kindly now then. “Yeah, okay, fine then, I will, but I was just so certain if the answer that I just had to hid the button on instinct.” “Yeah, sure thing, let’s start work on getting control of that instinct, okay?” And with that said the game continued onwards until they eventually finally won. “YES!!! Who’s the man? I’m the man, why am I the man? Because ain’t no other person got the knowledge and fixing skills like I do,” Felix said with a great big huge wide vast fist pump in the air now then. “Yes, I think that we all clearly get it,” Rainbow Dash said still smiling at her best friend’s crazy silly stupid and very eccentric nature and antics too as well. “Yeah, well I think that it’s time for us to go home now,” Eddie said, “I wouldn’t want to miss sleep for work tomorrow.” “Yeah, and I’m with him,” Luna said smiling as they left them behind now then. “So I guess that it’s just us, you and me against the whole entire world.” “Not just you and me, both your team and my team can work together too.” “Highly unlikely but I still see that as a possibility in the future maybe if something comes up then I’ll come for you, even if very slowly unlike you do. But I still will come,” he said now then. “Me too, you can count on that.” “Yeah, well it’s always very nice to have good friends to back you up.” “That’s so true, well then goodnight, I’ll be staying at the Grand Oak Hotel in case you need me,” Felix said as he waved her goodbye and then left her all alone now then. “Okay, fine then, bye,” she said as he left her all alone now then. And with that she eventually decided to go home and get some rest and sleep now then. When the next day eventually finally came she got a phone call from West. “Hey there, what’s up exactly?” she said yawning very loudly now then. “We got something very strange and suspicious down at a museum where they’re holding a diamond safe and secure, the thing that tipped us off was a tip from one of the heads of security, and he said that it was very highly unusual and strange that someone went through their tour twice until I saw their tapes.” “And let me guess, it was Snow that was there I would guess?” “You assume correctly, we think that this might be his next target.” “Very well then, I’ll be over there in a flash, just give me a moment first.” The next thing that he knew she was over there in her suit. “So, do you have any idea when he might try to steal it?” she said. “No, but he’s already here,” West said pointing to a man that was very close to the diamond. Suddenly he broke the glass and reached in for it, but that was when she went up there to stop him. “Looking for something?” she said quickly grabbing the diamond back. “I highly recommend that you give that back to me otherwise I’m going to have to slow you down,” he said very calmly and slowly. “No way,” she said. “Fine then, let’s see how well you can cool off and chill out,” he said blasting his gun at her, but she was ready this time. And after he missed he then aimed his gun at West and she had to quickly save him, and then he aimed his gun at other innocents, but in the process one beam did hit her and she wasn’t able to save somebody. “Looks like you’re not fast enough to save everybody in this town,” he said now then, “And you better remember that next time before you try to stop me, now if you’ll excuse me I have a train to catch.” And with that said he left as he managed to evade all the guards with his gun. “Guys, I wasn’t able to save somebody today, but that’s not why I’m angry,” she said once she got back to the labs. “I’m angry because you tried to hide something that could have hurt me or others potentially, and that you tried to lie to me about it, I can understand why you would want to build it, but guess what, that man’s death is on me and all of us, we’re all guilty now.” “Rainbow Dash, we heard what he said to you, surely you can’t believe that, right?” Lightning Dust said now then. “No, he’s right, I’m not fast enough to save everyone, and I need to be both faster and better for the people of this city.” “Well maybe you should start by letting your friends in and to help you out,” Felix said, “Like me for example, that gun, does it have something we can track it with?” he said now then. “Well yes,” Soarin said now then. “Excellent, now all I need to do is hack into the city’s computers, it shouldn’t take me very long, I am a master expert on this sort of thing,” he said leaning over the keyboard and then typing and then suddenly a minute later he declared that he was in it now then. “Okay then, he said that he was going to catch a train, and according to what the gun reads he’s currently downtown on the L platform and now we’ll have eyes on him with the city cameras,” Felix said smiling at his work now then with great pride. “Well then, thanks a lot,” Rainbow Dash said switching her headset off. “You turned your headset off Dash, how can we talk to you?” “I don’t really feel like talking right now,” she said back to Soarin as she raced off to the train station. “It’s over Snow, give up and surrender,” she said when she finally eventually got there. “I knew that you would eventually finally find me, and that’s why I told you that I was taking a train, because I know that you can stop me, but not if you’re so busy saving everyone else from danger and peril,” he said taking his gun and then pointing it at the tracks and firing. “See you later I guess,” he said smiling as he left her all alone now then. Meanwhile… “Guys, we’ve got to do something to help Rainbow Dash,” Felix said now then. “Wait, I have an idea,” Soarin said with a great big huge wide vast smile on his face now then, and with that they listened and then went to work on it. Rainbow Dash managed to very quickly finally and eventually save everyone, but by the time that she did she was very tired and then suddenly Snow was there. “Looks like this is the end of the line for you,” he said smiling at his own tiny little pun. Rainbow Dash groaned, what was it with him and the puns exactly? But her question would have to wait for later and also would not be answered either because at that moment her friends suddenly arrived to help her out. “Put down the gun,” Soarin said holding what looked like a weapon of his own, “This is a prototype gun that can put off four times as much as yours can.” “Your hands are shaking, you’ve never killed anyone before kid, you’re not a killer yet and you don’t have to be either,” Leo said now then. “Hey, there’s a first time for everything,” Soarin said very nervously now then trying to hide his fear. “Fine then, alright, you win today,” Snow said walking past Soarin and the others. “Hey, put down the diamond,” Soarin said now then. “Don’t push your luck kid,” Snow said as he slowly faded out of both distance and sight too as well. “Hey there, are you okay?” Soarin said going over to Rainbow Dash now then. “Yeah, I’m fine, thanks a lot for the help,” she said now then. “Anytime, although this isn’t even a gun, it’s just the vacuum cleaner with lots of fancy high tech lights on it,” Soarin said smiling now then, “I couldn’t shoot him even if I wanted to, but I figured that he probably wouldn’t call out our bluff.” “And you were sort of right as you probably hoped, but I think that it’s really about time that I got home and got some rest,” she said now then. “Okay, that’s fine, just let us know if you need anything at all because we’ll always be here for you,” Soarin said smiling as she got up. “Thanks a lot for the offer and help.” And with that said they all went back to the labs now then. “So do you have any idea where he could be right now?” she said once they got back. “No, he must have pulled the tracking device from the gun, we’re blind right now against him, but I am sure that Captain Cold will come back,” Soarin said smiling now then. “Is that the new nickname that you just made up for him right now?” “Yes, it is, and nothing else will work it’s final,” he said smiling now then. “Yes, whatever, but Miss Dash I think that you did very well today, you may not have stopped the bad guy, but you did your very best to save the people of the city, and at the end of the day that’s all that really matters,” Lightning Dust said now then with a very slight smile on her face. “Thanks, that means a lot to me, now then if you don’t mind I’m going to go get some stuff and things done,” she said walking away. “Yeah, and I’m going home on the train now,” Felix said. “After what just happened?” Rainbow Dash said. “What? It’s still one of the safest ways to travel, and it’s quite enjoyable,” he said smiling now then as he left. And with that said they all left to do their own things, stuff and work. But as they did Rainbow Dash decided to speak to Felix one last final time. “Glad that you could catch the train,” Felix said when she got on with her suit, “What’s up exactly?” he said now then. “I just wanted to thank you for your help, and to tell you that I know how you feel, you want something that’s impossible.” “Yeah, I guess so, because I do know which girl I really do want,” he said. “But you also know that you can probably never have her,” she said. “Just like you feel about your mom, and I guess what they say is true, opposites do attract,” he said now then. “Yeah, I guess that they do,” she said as she left him now then and then shouted as she raced the train along the tracks.
