"That's it!", Rainbow Dash said happily to Scootaloo. "You're flying!"
"I'm flying?", Scootaloo asked. She realized she was off the ground. "I'm flying!"
"I'm proud of you, Squirt!", Rainbow said, hugging Scootaloo. "One day, you will become a Wonderbolt like me".
Scootaloo smiled and squeezed Rainbow Dash.
"Thank you for always being there for me", Scootaloo said.
"No prob, Squirt!", Rainbow said. "Hey, want me to take you home? I've wanted to visit there sometime".
Scootaloo shook her head violently. She didn't want Rainbow Dash to know she was an orphan.
"Oh", Rainbow sighed. "How 'bout we fly around the clouds a few more times?"
Scootaloo nodded. She flapped her wings quickly and struggled to take control. But she was able to fly around a few clouds.
"You'll make me proud, Squirt", Rainbow said. "I know it".
** the next day** Rainbow Dash was on her way to Twilight's castle. She was wondering if she knew where scootaloo lives.
"Hey Twilight".
"Yes, Rainbow".
"Do you happen to know where Scootaloo lives? I just thought, you know, since you're a princess and all..."
"Rainbow...", Twilight started. "Don't you know. Scootaloo is an orphan".
"What?", Rainbow exclaimed. "How, I... what? Which orphanage?"
"The only one in Ponyville"
"oh, right..."
Rainbow Dash flew out the door and rushed to the Ponyville orphanage. She found the building and smacked into the door.
"What can I help you with?", said a voice coming from a speaker.
"I need to see Scootaloo", Rainbow said.
"Okay. Give me a sec."
There was a buzz and then the door opened. The blue mare at the front desk called for Scootaloo on her speaker. Rainbow waited impatiently. As soon as she saw Scootaloo trot down the stairs, she ran to her and gave her a hug.
"Rainbow Dash...?", Scootaloo asked. "Why are you here?"
"Scootaloo", Rainbow said, beginning to cry. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I...", Scootaloo said. "I didn't want you to see me in this way"
"You know I would never think less of you", Rainbow said. "I have to go".
Rainbow flew away and watched Scootaloo climb up the stairs.
'I wish I could do something', thought Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow Dash ran into Pinkie Pie on her way back home. She smiled, knowing that Pinkie would cheer her up.
"You okay, Dashie?", Pinkie asked.
"I'm fine", Rainbow said.
"Why don't you come over to my home. I have some cupcakes in the oven".
"Sure. Better than sitting in my room all day, rereading Daring Do books".
"I have chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, strawberry, chocolate peanut butter, and, um... that's it", Pinkie said, placing a tray of cupcakes in front of Rainbow Dash.
"red velvet sounds good", Rainbow said.
Pinkie Pie tossed a cupcake into the air. Rainbow Dash caught it and ate it in two bites.
"Mmm! Is goowd", Rainbow said, her mouth still full of cupcake.
"Well, my cupcakes are the best of the best!", Pinkie said with a wink.
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. Pinkie sat down next to Rainbow Dash and ate the rest of the cupcakes. She looked at Rainbow's shining eyes.
"Pinkie, are you, blushing?", Rainbow asked.
"no!", Pinkie said. "and, even if i was, WHICH I'M NOT, my skin is pink. How would you tell?"
"C'mon, Pinkie", Rainbow Dash said. "I know you better than that".
Pinkie Pie started to turn much more pink than she usually is.
"Yeah. I guess you really do know me, Dashie"
"So..", Rainbow Dash said. "Is this about crush or something?"
"NO'", Pinkie quickly screamed. "I mean, kinda, sorta".
"Who?"
"Well..."
"Tell me who he is. I won't tell any pony".
"That's the thing", Pinkie sighed. "My crush is a mare... Please don't think any less of me!"
Rainbow Dash grabbed Pinkie's hooves and looked into her eyes.
"So what, you're lesbian. I don't think any less of you. How could hate the awesome silly filly that makes me laugh!"
The two mares looked into eachother's eyes. Pinkie Pie tried to change the subject.
"So, more cupcakes?", Pinkie asked.
Rainbow Dash nodded. Pinkie went into the kitchen and whipped a batch of cupcakes. Rainbow Dash wondered, 'who is the mare pinkie likes?' The tray of cupcakes was placed Infront of Rainbow Dash.
There was a moment of silence. Rainbow Dash didn't know what to say. Pinkie Pie liked her. Did Rainbow feel the same the way. She didn't know.
"Dashie", Pinkie Pie said. "Do you love me back...?"
Another eerie silence filled the room. Rainbow Dash really didn't know what to say. She looked into Pinkie Pie's eyes. She had a feeling. Everything was warm and it tickled. She didn't quite understand what it meant, though.
"I don't know, Pinkie", Rainbow said sadly. "I want to say yes, but I really don't know".
Pinkie face turned sad. Her hair deflated. She got out of her seat and walked away.
"Wait! Pinkie!", Rainbow Dash said. "I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay, Dashie", Pinkie said. "I understand".
"I'm sorry..." Rainbow Dash walked away, still sad that Pinkie was sad. She decided to visit Scootaloo.
****************
There was a buzz, and the door opened.
"Can I see Scootaloo?", Rainbow asked the blue mare at the front desk.
"Sure, whatever", she said in a slightly southern accent. She called for Scootaloo and moments later, Scootaloo was in the lobby.
"Hi Rainbow Dash!", Scootaloo said happily, running up to hug Rainbow. "I've been practicing my flying. Look!"
Scootaloo flapped her wings and was in the air much faster than before. Scootaloo fell, noticing that Rainbow Dash was sad.
"Are you okay?', Scootaloo asked.
Rainbow Dash took a minute to explain everything about Pinkie's crush.
"But, why does she like a mare?", Scootaloo asked. "Shouldn't she love a stallion?"
"I'd rather not explain it. At least not here".
The the two flew to the meadow where Scootaloo learned to fly.
*******************
"And that's what we call lesbians", Rainbow said. The filly Scootaloo was cringing, wishing she never asked why Pinkie liked a mare. She shook it off, though.
"Well", Scootaloo said. "Do you like her back?"
"I don't know. She's funny, and kind, and totally awesome. Why shouldn't I like her?"
Scootaloo thought for a moment.
"You do".
"What?"
"Stop denying it. You know you love her".
"I guess, I... I do. I really do!"
Rainbow took Scootaloo backed to the orphanage and went strait to Sugarcube Corner. She crashed through Pinkie's bedroom window and tackled her.
"I love you, Pinkie!", she screamed. "I really do love you!"
Pinkie smiled and hugged Rainbow. "I really love you, too", she whispered into Dash's ear.
"Welcome! Welcome! Oh! Hi Twilight", Rainbow Dash was greeting the guest and saw Twilight.
"Hi, Rainbow Dash!", Twilight said. "So, you and Pinkie are a thing now?"
Rainbow Dash nodded.
"Dashie! Over here!", Pinkie screamed. "I need a partner to dance!"
"Be right there Pinkie!", Rainbow Dash said. She waved to Twilight and left to dance.
"Isn't this fun, Dashie?", Pinkie asked.
"Are you kidding? This is awesome!", Rainbow Dash said.
Dash saw Scootaloo enter the party gates. She flew away for a second to give Scootaloo a hug.
"Glad you could make it, Squirt!"
"Me too", Scootaloo said. "It took forever to make the workers let me come".
Rainbow laughed a bit. She looked at Scootaloo's eyes, they weren't shining like usual. Infact, they were dull.
"Are you okay, Squirt?", Rainbow Dash asked.
Scootaloo nodded.
"Good. Now go have fun! This is a party".
Rainbow flew back to Pinkie Pie and they danced like the night would never end. They didn't want it to end. It was too much fun.
A few ponies congratulated the new couple while others stared in disapproval.
To Rainbow, it seemed like they only got together a few days ago. But time flys when you're having fun.
"Can you believe it's been a month since you said you loved me?", Pinkie said to Rainbow Dash.
"No. But I'm glad of it", Rainbow said.
Pinkie Pie hopped away for a moment to get some cupcakes. She threw one in the air and Rainbow Dash caught it. Just like she did the day Pinkie said she loved her. Rainbow ate the cupcake.
"Red velvet?", Rainbow asked. "Thanks Pinkie. You really know me".
"Oh! This is my jam!", Pinkie said as the music changed. The couple danced to the song and didn't notice the crowd forming around them. By the end of the song, ever pony was staring at them.
"Stop staring and dance!", Pinkie shouted. "This is a party!"
Every pony danced, but Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were still the center of attention.
