Ch 1 - The Meeting
"Alright girls" Twilight began, garnering the attention of her five other friends. She pointed to a large circular metallic device that was hooked up to some other machines by wires. "This is an quantum interdimensional portal that has the ability to go to other dimensions, or for other dimensions to visit us" she stated with a smile.
"Now i'm sure you're all wondering how I managed to do this, well it's simple really I-" "Holy buck Twilight!" Rainbow shouted, cutting off Twilight's rant. Twilight turned to face her friends, who wore a mixture of stunned to irritated expressions.
"What's wrong girls?" Twilight asked with a tilt of her head.
"What's wrong? Twilight dear, do you have any idea how dangerous this can be?" Rarity asked, stunned by the simple stare the Twilight gave her. Rainbow Dash took to the air to go hover by the machines to take a look at them.
"Well maybe.. but-"
"Twilight, it's certainly impressive an' all, but y'all don't think yer overdoin' it a bit?" Applejack asked.
"What, how can you even say that? Rainbow, you're the stuntpony, is this dangerous?" Twilight asked, turning to face Rainbow by the portal.
Rainbow Dash faced her with a serious expression, "Sorry Twi, but this is definitely dangerous. Have you ever seen a movie or read a book where a portal doesn't lead to something dangerous?"
Twilight pondered for a minute before raising a hoof to speak, but then stopped herself and lowered her hoof. "Exactly" Rainbow followed up with.
"Does Celestia even know you're doing this?" Pinkie asked, more serious then she usually is.
"Well... no... but I was going to tell her" Twilight stated sheepishly.
"a-are you sure about this Twilight?" Fluttershy whispered, who had approached Twilight without a peep.
"Well... I don't know. I already managed to set up one dimension though and-"
"Twilight.." Applejack simply said.
"I put a lot of work into this!"
"Twilight.." Rarity said.
"I haven't slept in days!"
"Twi.." Rainbow said.
"Please!"
"Twilight.." Fluttershy whispered.
"PLEASE!" Twilight shouted.
All of the girls audibly sighed at their friends pleading. "Fine!" they all said unison.
"You get one shot though Twilight" Rainbow sternly said.
Twilight happily cantered across her crystal floor over to the machines where she immediately starting pushing buttons with her purple aura. As she did Applejack leaned over to Rarity's ear.
"This isn't a good ah-dea is it?" Applejack whispered to Rarity.
"Absolutely not" Rarity whispered back.
As Twilight wrapped up with her typing she grabbed a clipboard in one hoof, and slowly lowered her other hoof onto a comically large lever. "Ready girls?" Twilight asked excitedly.
"No" Rainbow simply stated, causing Twilight to give her a quick glare before pulling down the lever.
With this the large circular ring ignited with electrical currents traveling through the coords and throughout the outer rim. As a few sparks began to shoot back and forth inside the ring a tiny blue hole could be seen forming in the center, in thin air. The electric currents stayed more stable and attached onto the blue hole with started to grow, making it appear as though the electricity was pulling and stretching it until it finally filled the ring.
What stood before the ponies was a large glowing blue portal with some white mixed in, the electricity had started to subside.
"Now girls, we must simply wait and try not to- do you hear that?" Twilight asked, as a vocal noise grew louder and louder from the portal. As it grew it could be clearly identified as someone screaming, and as if to prove her theory right, two creatures came flying out through the portal screaming their lungs out until they hit the floor with a grunt. The portal closed behind them sealing their exit.
Two oddly shaped creatures were now laying on the ground to the surprise of everypony around them.
"Holy buck Twilight! What are those?" Rainbow shouted.
"Well I believe they're from a dimension ruled by... Humans they're called" Twilight stated as she read her clipboard.
"You sound unsure, did you not research these creatures beforehand? Rarity asked in surprise.
"Well I couldn't know anything for sure just basics. They don't grow very big, not like dragons. Instead an average adult is about the same height as a large stallion like Big Mac. Though they stand on two appendages instead of four like us so it's expected. I believe they should also speak the same language as us if my location setting was correct" Twilight explained.
"Y'all don't even know if they're dangerous!?" Applejack shouted in her face, causing Twilight to stagger back nervously.
"Well no, but we've faced worse" Twilight said sheepishly.
"Twilight you're usually the 'spick and span everything needs to be perfectly organized and managed' type. How did you not plan all of this out?" Rainbow asked.
"Yeah I know, but how else do you make great leaps in scientific advancement? By experimenting" Twilight simply stated, causing some of the girls to scowl at her. Though the ponies quickly turned their attention to the two creatures who grunted a bit as they started to get up.
The baby faced one got up first and looked around instantly at all of the colorful ponies awkwardly staring back at him.
"What the fuck dude!" it shouted, causing the ponies to all step back a bit. The bearded one got up just after him to look at what his friend was seeing.
"Holy shit! Where are we, what is going on!?" he shouted. They simply stared at the ponies who stood gawking at them, until Twilight stepped forward slightly.
"Uh.. hi, my name is Twilight Sparkle, and these are my friends Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie" she explained while motioning her hoof to each pony as she said their name.
The creatures simply looked at them before turning to each other.
"James are we wearing Vive's or something?" Aleks asked, nervously.
"No, we only had one at the house anyways. Whatever the hell is happening is real" James said as he turned back to face the ponies.
"Uh.. y'all ain't gonna eat us are ya?" Applejack awkwardly asked. James and Aleks just looked at the farm pony with a puzzled expression.
"What? no. Are YOU going to eat US?" James asked back.
"Wasn't plannin' on it on tha' account that we don't eat meat" Applejack stated, giving and James and Aleks a slight bit of comfort.
"You two are probably wondering about what's going on" Twilight stated only to receive a harsh glare from James.
"Well yeah maybe that's why I just fucking asked 'what's going on!?" he shouted, causing Twilight's ears to fold back.
Twilight frowned "Oh uh.. yeah sorry. It's actually not that long of a story. I developed an interdimensional portal that has transported you two from your dimension to our dimension, in our country, Equestria. Our species are known as ponies, and I believe you are known as... humans?" she stated, but it came out as a question when she said humans.
"Uh yeah, but from where were from ponies don't talk, you're animals" James said, causing Rarity to glare at him.
"How dare you call us animals" she said the last word with disgust. "I for one am of high class unlike you two uncouth creatures!" Rarity shouted, stomping her hoof and turning her head away in a prissy way.
"What? You know this guy right here makes 7.7 milo from where were from!" Aleks shouted with a laugh, causing James to punch him in the arm. "Really, you're making jokes right now?"
"Rarity! Don't be rude, and technically both of us are animals, technically mammals" Twilight stated with smile, only for the other ponies to groan at Twilight for being informative.
Twilight sheepishly continued "I understand this must be very confusing for you, this was simply all part of an experiment. We can definitely send you back if you'd like" Twilight tried to rationalize.
"Alright yeah, just get us back home" Aleks said, looking around, and then walking over to the circular ring.
Twilight quickly trotted over nervously "um yeah of course, but... are you sure we or.. I.. can't ask you a few questions?" Twilight asked nervously, causing Aleks to glare over his shoulder at her.
"In the name of science" she added. "No" Aleks replied motioning for James to come over, but he stayed where he was.
"Honestly... you know we could stick around for a little. Even just a few hours" James said, which made Twilight instantly perk up, only to frown again when Aleks replied with "No way James, we gotta get back. We don't even know where we are or if these ponies are evil or something"
"Evil!?" Pinkie shouted, while magically appearing up from behind Aleks who staggered away as she scared him. "We're the Elements of Harmony, and she's the princess of friendship, how could we be evil? silly" she asked.
Aleks gave her deadpan look and answered her with a simple "because you could just be lying" causing Pinkie to scratch her head curiously. "That's true actually" she replied.
"Twilight Barkle or Darkle or whatever, can you just open that portal, and James come on, seriously" he said, causing James to relent and walk over to him.
"Fine, but you know this is kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity as weird as it is" James stated, causing Aleks to frown a little, before setting those thoughts aside.
"Yeah well it's better not to take the risk" Aleks simply said, before looking over to Twilight expectantly who was pulling the lever back and forth over and over.
"Uh, it should have turned on by now.." she muttered nervously. Rainbow Dash quickly flew over and pushed Twilight aside, "here I got this!" she boasted, and quickly started switching the lever back and forth at a quicker pace. She put force into it and kept pushing and pulling, Twilight looked from the lever to the wires noticing little electric currents on them that were growing more and more rapid.
"Wait Rainbow stop!" Twilight shouted, but it was too late. The lever started to spark as well as the console and the electric currents instantly surged out to the ring causing electricity to build up around it's rim.
"Everypony down!" Twilight shouted as she ran and slid away from it. James and Aleks went wide eyed as Rainbow Dash flew off in her signature speed, and the two quickly looked to each other and then immediately sprinted in the other direction. As they ran the sparks reached their breaking point and a fire instantly spread around the ring and ignited. James and Aleks slid down on the ground as they ran to take cover as the ring exploded. It sent out blazing fire which narrowly avoided landing on James, and the smoke had spread out from the explosion covering the room.
Aleks was the first to get on his feet, looking around in the smoke trying to find his friend. "James! James are you alright?" he shouted in-between coughs.
Twilight coughed as she tried to speak "Rainbow Dash! Can you clear this smoke out!" she shouted, and went back to coughing hysterically.
"Got it Twi!" Rainbow shouted back, and took off into the air and immediately put her speed to use. She quickly went flying right into high speeds and started doing fast laps around the library. As she picked up speed, the air current followed her and circled the room helping to clear away smoke. The wind started to blow all around the library quickly dispersing the smoke out through the chimney and any open windows that were available. After a couple of minutes Rainbow had completely cleared the smoke, and she landed back on the ground beside Twilight.
"Is everypony alright?" Rainbow asked, and received several "yes's and yeah's" from around the room.
As James got to his feet he pointed towards the machines, "were good but what about that" motioning towards the small fire still lingering.
Pinkie Pie gasped and instantly reached behind her and whipped out a bucket of water from thin air. "Pinkie Pie is on it!" she said and she saluted before doing a few cartwheels to make her way over to the machines. As she prepared to toss the water Twilight had teleported over and grabbed Pinkie by the shoulder and pulled her back.
"No Pinkie! It's an electrical fire, water won't help. Dash?" she said looking to the pegasus who had already flown over knowing what she wanted. Rainbow rapidly flapped her wings blowing wind onto the small fire until it died down.
After that Twilight sighed, "alright so now-" "Goddamnit!" James yelled, cutting her off.
"How the fuck are we gonna get home now!?" he shouted, stomping over to Twilight.
"Oh well.. I can fix this.. although.. its gonna take a few days" she muttered, her ears drooping as she spoke.
"A few days!?" James yelled, but was stopped by Aleks' hand on his shoulder. "Relax James, I'm mad too but what else are we gonna do about it" he said.
James sighed as he swung a hand up to slap himself in the face. "Unbelievable.. a few days" he muttered. He then turned to Aleks with wide eyes. "Dude we can't just leave Trevor and them to do Cow Chop alone, we don't have much of a backlog for videos"
"Like I said dude, what else can we do" Aleks said.
"I'm really, really sorry about all of this. I promise, give me three days and I can get you two home" Twilight offered, which helped to ease James slightly.
"*sigh* fine"
"Well isn't this what you wanted anyways?" Aleks asked.
"I was thinking more of like, a few hours. Now were stuck here" James replied.
"It ain't that bad y'all, just a few days. Plus like you said, when else are ya' gonna have an opportunity like this?" Applejack asked, giving her the attention of James.
"Yeah, I guess thats true, but what are we gonna do for three days?" James asked.
"We can get to know each other!" Pinkie shouted excitedly.
"Hay yeah we can, this is just as much an opportunity for us as it is you" Rainbow said.
"Oh.. uh.. well what do you wanna know?" Aleks asked, a bit uneasily.
"Well I wanna know about your arms, are those tattoos?" Rainbow asked.
Aleks looked down to his arm "uh yeah.."
"Awesome!" Rainbow exclaimed as she flapped over to him to get a closer look. Aleks held out his arm to show her, "these look rad!" Rainbow complimented.
"It looks like all of you guys have them" Aleks said, pointing to some of the girl's flanks.
"Huh? Oh these are' our cutie marks. It's a lil' different from what y'all have. These here are magically given to ponies when they discover their talents" Applejack explained. Aleks nodded in understanding, "but we do have regular tattoos here too" she followed up with.
During this Pinkie Pie had managed to sneak up behind James and snatch the beanie he had off of his head, causing James to swipe at it with a "hey!"
Pinkie simply bounced back a bit to admire his hair. "Sorry grumpy pants! I just wanted to see what your hair looks like" then as she looked she gasped, and her eyes went wide. "It's just as big and poofy as mine!" Pinkie shouted in delight.
"Yeah, yeah" James muttered as he walked up and snatched his beanie back, placing it over his hair again to flatten his hair.
"Do y'all have apples from yer' from?" Applejack asked, causing Rainbow Dash to roll her eyes.
"Uh yeah.." James answered.
"Do you all wear clothes?" Rarity asked, admiring Aleks' hoodie.
"Yeah, why do you guys wear clothes?" Aleks' asked, wondering why she even knew what that word was.
"Yes, but only sometimes. Like dresses for occasions and such" Rarity replied.
"You have a cow on your shirt, d-do you like animals?" Fluttershy meagerly asked, as she looked at James' Cow Chop logo shirt.
"Uh.. well it's kinda like our company logo I guess you could say, but yeah we like animals. We have pets back home" James answered, and Fluttershy smiled happily after hearing it.
"Do you have books?" Twilight asked, once again making Rainbow roll her eyes.
"Yeah, but most people are more interested in TV and Movies" James replied, causing Rainbow Dash to laugh.
"Told you books are lame Twi!" she laughed while floating above them.
Twilight yanked her down by her tail with her magic, "Oh well then would you care to explain why I find you in the library section reading Daring Doo every week" Twilight countered smugly, causing Rainbow Dash to frown at her.
"Well i'm sure there is plenty more to talk about darlings, but it is starting to get late, and it's also been quite a day" Rarity stated with yawn and nodded towards the burnt control panels.
"Okay fair point, you two can stay in my castle if you'd like. It's definitely big enough" Twilight said with a chuckle.
James and Aleks nodded, and Twilight turned to her friends.
"I'm going to send a letter to Celestia about this tomorrow, but in the meantime maybe you girls should head home" Twilight explained.
"You sure Twi, they seem nice and all but we just met them" Rainbow whispered to Twilight while eyeing James, who eyed her back. Taking this as a queue, the other girls walked over to form a huddle.
"I think they seem nice" Fluttershy added with a soft smile.
"Yes, they do seem nice enough, but you never quite know for sure. What if we split them up? One goes to stay with one of us girls and the other stays with another. They wouldn't try anything if they knew the other could be put at risk" Rarity stated, earning nods from the other girls.
"Alright, how about James stays with Fluttershy" Twilight began, Fluttershy squeaked when her name was mentioned.
Rainbow nudged her friend "It'll be fine Flutters, you said it yourself, they seem nice" Fluttershy only nervously nodded in response.
"and Aleks can stay with Rarity" Twilight continued, making Rarity's eyes shoot open as wide as dinner plates.
"M-m-me?" Rarity asked, bewildered.
"Hey, ya' were the one who came up with tha' ah-dea" Applejack pointed out, causing Rarity to huff with a "fine then". With that the huddle broke apart and they all approached the two humans who had apparently formed their own little huddle.
"You heard them, they think were dangerous" Aleks whispered.
"Yeah but to be fair wouldn't you be" James whispered back.
"That's true but still, can we trust them?" Aleks whispered.
"Dude, they're a bunch of friendship ponies it'll be fine. They seem nice, and if you were listening they thought we seemed nice too. They were making jokes just before. I'm sure both sides of this are just cautious, let's just go along with it" James whispered back, and backed away from Aleks as the ponies turned towards them.
"The castle arrangements aren't going to work out, we have...um... fumigators coming. So instead, Aleks will stay with Rarity and James will stay with Fluttershy" Twilight explained while motioning to said ponies.
"Alright that works" James said nudging Aleks.
"Well not to rush you all, but Spike should be getting back from the ink and quill shop soon. I'd rather explain this to him in my own time rather than him get all crazy when he sees you two" Twilight said while pointing at James and Aleks.
"Who's Spike?" Aleks asked.
"Oh, he's a dragon" Twilight stated, causing James' and Aleks' eyes to shoot wide open.
"Holy shit! A dragon!?" James shouted.
"Yes but a baby dragon!" Twilight shouted to calm their nerves.
"He's only a kid, he doesn't even have wings yet" Twilight explained.
"A kid? Oh yeah we've got one of those, his name his Trevor" James said with a laugh, and Aleks laughed with him.
"Oh.. so you two are.." Rarity stumbled off her words awkwardly.
"Huh? What do you... oh.. oh no.. no no no definitely not!" Aleks explained, but James only laughed and slung an arm over his shoulder.
"What do you mean Aleks, i'd be proud to be with you" James laughed.
Aleks shook his arm off of him, blushing slightly, "no were not together, were not even gay, and if I was...." Aleks trailed off as he looked at James. "I could do a lot better than him" Aleks continued, and was punched in the arm by James. Everypony else laughed at the joke though, except Fluttershy but especially Pinkie.
"You two are so funny! Were gonna be REALLY good friends" Pinkie grinned at them.
