Deadly Silence doesn't remember her parents or what happened to them. She only remembers what happened after she woke up in the hospital.
Deadly Silence is a very quiet and shy unicorn who doesnt have any friends and really isn't even sure how to make friends. She wakes up in a pastel pink hospital room and doesn't remember how she got there.
I am somepony not known to anypony. I am quiet, shy, and scared to talk to other ponies. that's probably why I am not known or cared about. i am a white coated pony with an alternating white and black mane and tail. When i get my cutiemark it's a skull with headphones. It's supposed to mean that I create deadly silence. I walk into a room and the moment I'm spotted its a tidal wave of silence throughout the room. My eyes are purple, the center is a skull as well, its normal whenever I'm happy. I'm also a unicorn but that doesn't matter I guess. Well that's everything except my name Deadly Silence. My parents didn't name me that... I don't even remember their faces. I gave that name to myself. I don't remember anything before the pink walls of the hospital room, which i find kind of sad because i wish i knew my family. It might give me some clue as to why I'm the way I am but i don't and that's ok.
I woke up in a bed somewhere that wasn't familiar to me. I sit up and look around kind of confused. There are a few beds around the pink walled room. I definitely don't like the room already, i hate pink, I hear hoof steps and young filly voices down the white hallway. They're getting closer so i quickly lay back down and cover my head with the blanket on the bed I'm in. There is another, older voice behind the filly's.
"she scares me. Why are we going into that room with her?" One of the fillies were whining because she didn't want to be in this room and from what i saw when i peek up from my blanket there were no other ponies in the room with me,so i have already repelled a pony without even trying.
"i needed to check up on her," this was the older pony talking. "You two know why shes here don't you?" They were outside the room door now just standing and talking.
"But Nurse Redheart..." that was the other filly who was then cut off by the older pony.
"her parents died in the accident and now shes all alone...we need to be kind to her. When she was found she wasn't responsive and couldn't even open her eyes. So now shes here with us and i have the job of checking up on her until shes responsive." The nurse's voice went flat when she said this, like she didn't want to be near me either.
"okay, but why did you have to bring us to?" This time both of the fillies said this in unison.
"I thought you two would want to walk with me, you two looked kind of bored in the lobby."All three ponies entered the room. From the sound of the hoofsteps, the fillies both retreated to a bed on the far side of the room away from me.
I felt gentle tugs on the thin blanket i had hidden in. She nurse pulled the blanket from me and was now using moving around and pressing buttons on machines around me. i started to quiver in a fear for the unknown. She put her hooves on my sides to sit me up and i jerked my eyes open and stared straight into her eyes. We held eye contact like that for what felt like forever. She dropped me back on the bed and backs up to the wall with her hoof over her mouth. "You...your..eyes" her words were almost silent and barely above whispers.
I could tell she was in shock so i looked around for the fillies who had came with her to visit me. One was a grey pony with a lighter grey braided mane and slightly wavy tail with a spoon cutiemark. She wore blue glasses and a pearl necklace. The other was a light pink pony with a wavy light purple and white mane and tail. She had a tiara cutiemark and wore a tiara. They were too busy talking and giggling to have seen me. I slowly laid back down and covered myself up again. "girls time to go" she sounded calm enough at this moment. "Girls time to leave now. I'm done here" Nurse Redheart leaves the room quickly with the fillies following closely behind her.
"How did you finish that fast?" One asks "I did't even see you do anything" As the hoofsteps retreated I realized they had forgotten to shut the door, so i slowly crawled out of the bed. The bed was too high off the ground for my hooves to touch automatically because i was still just a filly myself, yep still a blank flank, so i kinda slipped off the bed and plopped on the ground. This is when i noticed how knotted up my mane and tail were. Although i was pretty shaky on my feet, I slowly walked to towards the door, gaining balance with each step. I had only taken a few short steps when i realized there was something attached to me. I look down and there were wires attached to my legs, stomach, neck, and back. I pulled each and every wire off by walking till they wouldn't reach anymore and fell over. The machine that held all the wires went nuts! It was beeping and saying random alerts and stuff so i looked at it and stared, then the machine was silent and all the lights on the machines went out. After the intense staring i laid down on the cool linoleum flooring in the pastel room of pink, drifting in and out of consciousness. Before everything went completely dark i saw a figure of another foal coming down the hallway then i blacked out.
When I woke up I was still on the floor and the door was still open.Everything was the same except there was another pony in my room. This time instead of a filly it was a colt.
"Your awake.Finally. When i heard the machine go crazy, none of the nurses came to check so i did" This colt was black with a black and blue mane and tail. I didn't have enough courage to look up at his eyes because i was scared i would scare him away. "why wont you look up?" There was curiosity in his voice now.
He started to lower his head to look at me so i turned my head away.
"If i look up," i whispered, "I'll scare you away too."
He laid down in front of me and i shivered, scared. I slowly lifted my head to meet his eyes. His eyes were an electric blue, that were filled with the curiosity that was in his voice. When our eyes finally met he just smiled.
"Your eyes are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen."
I blushed and looked away. "Could... could you help me with something please." I was still whispering.
"Sure," he smiled again,"what is it?" i raised my head and started standing up. He stood up before me and reached out a hoof to help me.
"I was trying to shut the door before i fell and i was going to brush out my mane and tail, but I don't know if i can actually close the doo." He looked at me and smiled.
"Sure, I'll help you. Oh and by the way my name is Singing Shadows."
"I don't remember my name." He looked at me confused but didn't say anything more.
I walked over to the door and started pushing it shut with my hooves. As i did this Singing shadows hunted down and brought me a mane brush. "Wait don't you need to go back to your room?" I ask once i have the door shut.
"No the nurses never check on me much and i figured i should help you get back in bed. And besides I don't want to leave you here all alone." He blushes as he says this and it makes me giggle.
"Well ok but i don't think I'm going to be very exciting." I say.
I take the brush from him and start brushing my tail using my mouth to hold the brush.
"What are you doing?" he asks staring at me with his head tilted.
"Rushin meh ter."
"why with your mouth though? Your a unicorn. Why not use your magic?"
I drop the brush and stare at him. "A what?"
"A unicorn. Here watch this." His horn began to glow faintly then gain brightness as my mane brush started to drift into the air.
I stared, my mouth hanging slightly open, I batted a hoof at the floating object and watched it drift away from me "that's amazing." I looked at his face and giggled. his eyes were tightly closed and his tongue was slightly sticking out of his lips.
He dropped the brush and he stared at me, "what's so funny?"
"Nothing. Nothing" still giggling. "Um could you help me up onto my bed? I'm kinda tired." I fake yawned and then he smiled.
We walked over to the bed and we both looked up at how high it was. "Oh i have a stool in my room they gave me so I could get in and out of my bed." He opened the door and cantered off down the hallway while I looked up at how high it looked from the floor.
I heard a loud noise and turned around to see Shadow panting from effort. He pointed his hoof at the step-stool and i quickly went over to him and helped him push it towards my bed. "Go...go ahead and... see if you can climb up."
"Why are you so tired it wasn't that hard to push?"
He looked at me and he seemed to have regained control over his breathing. "Well uhm," he blushed. "I was uh trying to show off and lift it with magic."
I giggled and climbed up the stool and onto my bed while he went to shut the door again. When i had gotton onto my bed i turned and realized he had climbed up behind me. I laid down on top of my blanket and turned to him. "Do you think you could make a promise to me?"
"Yeah, what is it?"
"I'v lost everything in my life before now and I don't even know how but could you promise to never leave me even if i do scare you?" I couldn't see his face because i was looking down but I could feel tears starting to run down my cheeks. I felt something touch my cheek and i looked up to see his hoof wiping at my tear.
His gaze wandered to meet mine "I wont ever leave you alone. I promise." He laid down next to me and nuzzled my cheek.
I snuggled closer and sniffed in his scent that was its own unique mix of boy and the sterile smell of the hospital. I curled into the space he had made and rested my head on the curve of his back. I lifted my head slightly toward his ear and whispered "thank you." I rested my head back down and closed my eyes drifting slowly into an easy sleep.
I wake up and I open my eyes but I cant see anything. I'm in my bed at my house, but that's impossible my house is gone. The smell of my house is there though. Old oat cookies and last night's hay-burgers. The door creaks open letting a little bit of light into my room. My mother slowly steps into my room.Her hoof steps echo softly around my room. I sit up slightly and look at her.
"Mom?" She freezes turning her head slightly to look at me.
"Go back to sleep I didn't mean to wake you." She says softly. She turns to leave and I sit straight up, tears in my eyes.
"mom no don't leave." I turn to the lamp that's on my bedside table and turn it on.
My mother stands there her coat a glorious midnight black, her eyes the icy blue of cyan. she squints slightly into the glare of the lamp. She shakes her head tossing her black mane to one side of her shoulder. "Whats wrong? You should really get back to sleep, it's really late and you have school in the morning."
She uses her magic to switch the lamp back off. "Goodnight my sweet."
She walks towards the door and steps out then shuts the door behind her. I jump out of bed and stare at the door for a second willing my dream to become a reality. In a matter of seconds after she shut the door to my room smoke started seeping in from underneath the door. My room quickly fills with smoke as i stand there trying to piece together whats going on. Smoke equals fire, right?
"Mom! Fire!" I opened the door only to be greeted by red hot flames right outside my bedroom door. I scream slam the door shut and run to hide underneath my bed as if i can hide from the flames. I place my hooves over my eyes then I'm surrounded my flames. They get hotter and hotter burning my fur, singing my flesh and all i can do is cry.
The glass in my window shatters and the Princess of the Moon flies in and beats her wings to push the flames back. She reaches under the bed with her hooves and tries to grab me while the flames creep closer again. There is a flash of light and the world around my disappears right before my eyes.
I hear screaming but i don't realize where it's coming from until i realize its me that's screaming and Singing Shadows is trying to calm me down. The dreaded pinkness of the room slowly swims into focus as Singing Shadows shakes me.
"Hey, hey its okay. It was only a dream.You're okay, it's okay calm down." he strokes my mane softly speaking into my ear.
I'm shaking and I can feel it so i just nuzzled right underneath his chin while he tried to sooth me. I'm crying into his fur and he wraps his hooves around my shoulders. "whatever it was it's gone now and I wont let it come back, okay. I promise." He pulls me closer and plants a small kiss on the top of my head.
We sat like that, me wrapped in his hooves, for a while. how long I'll never be sure, but I felt like nothing could replace the safety I felt right then.
He continues to stroke my mane while my sobbing and shaking subsides. The whole time he's reassuring me that I'll be okay. His soothing voice slowly helped me to drift off to a dreamless sleep.
