A day in Ponyville

View Online

It was a beautiful day in Ponyville when the changelings decided to attack. They darted across every corner of the tiny city, turning into other ponies and creating an all around mess of the otherwise peaceful town. Ponies everywhere fled in terror.

Meanwhile, Princess Twilight Sparkle and Spike were in the castle overlooking Ponyville. Spike looked out of the window and gasped as as the changelings continued to invade.

"Sweet Celestia!" Spike cried out, "Twilight, help me come up with a plan."

Twilight bounced over to Spike, laughing and flapping her wings.

"Isn't so cool to be a princess? Look, I can fly AND do magic!" Twilight said giddily. She made a magic laser beam shoot out from her horn, almost hitting Spike. Spike seethed.

"Twilight, this is no time for your nonsense," Spike said angrily, "I need you to go get your friends and have them meet us at the castle. This isn't a game!"

"Games? Who said something about games? I want to play!" Twilight shouted as she hopped around the room. Twilight continued to chatter at an incoherent speed until Spike forcibly put his claw into her mouth.

"Not now, Twilight! Changelings are attacking Ponyville! Right now, I need you to come up with a plan to help stop the changeling invasion."

"Me? Plan things? Aw, I HATE planning things! I'm so disorganized!" Twilight pouted and slumped her wings. Spike caressed her reassuringly.

"Look, I know this is hard for you, but I also know that your friends can help. Let's go meet Pinkie Pie at Sugar Cube Corner. I'm sure she'll know where to find the rest of your friends."

Before Spike could finish his last sentence, Twilight ran out the door and shouted, "Sugar Cube Corner! Let's grab some cake!" Spike sighed and tried to keep up as Twilight continued to sprint.

When they arrived at Sugar Cube Corner, Pinkie Pie stared at them blankly for a while until she finally asked, "Do you want any cake?" in a dry, melancholic tone. Spike wheezed for a bit as he tried to catch his breath from all the running, but Twilight seemed more full of energy than before.

"I'd really like some cake, but right now changelings are attacking Ponyville and I think that might be a bad thing because the changelings will probably destroy the cake shop, and that would make me really sad if that happened because I really like cake and Spike told me to save Ponyville. So, will you help me?" Twilight said speedily in one breath.

Pinkie Pie stared solemnly out the window at the changeling attack.

"Duly noted," Pinkie said dryly. She ambled slowly to the door and said, "We'll need to find everyone else before we can do anything. I know where Applejack is."

"Cool! Where?" Twilight shouted in Pinkie's face.

"Just follow me," Pinkie said monotonously, and Spike and Twilight followed Pinkie Pie to Sweet Apple Acres.

Applejack was busy bucking apples as usual, sweat dripping from her brow.

"Shoot!" Applejack sighed, "I knew I should have lived the fancy life up in Manehattan. If I could only go back for one day instead of doing this nasty farm work." As Applejack continued to reminisce the fancy life she wanted to live, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, and Spike came up to her.

"Applejack! We need your help! Changelings are attacking Ponyville and we need all six of you to use your rainbow powers to stop them!" Spike said anxiously and out of breath.

"Thank Celestia! Anything to get me away from my awful job and awful family!" Applejack said with relief. Pinkie Pie stared blankly at her as Twilight prattled on speedily about nothing.

"I'll do whatever it takes," Applejack said proudly, "Just as long as I don't get my hooves too dirty."

"Right on," Pinkie said drably, "We need to find the others before it's too late." Spike nodded in agreement.

"Well, let's quit wasting time then! Let's go find Rarity!" Applejack shouted as she ran ahead of Pinkie, Twilight, and Spike.

The four of them found Rarity in a large field, mining for gems. Her normally white coat was a dusty light brown from the dirt she was covered in. Rarity saw them and waved.

"Hey! What are you doing here? Want any gems?" Rarity held out a hoof full of gems and offered them to Applejack. Applejack grinned, but it soon faded to a frown when she saw that the gems were also covered in dirt.

"You'd better wash those things before giving them to me," Applejack said with a repulsed tone in her voice.

"Please, Applejack. The day isn't complete unless you get you get covered in grime," Rarity scoffed. Pinkie and Twilight looked on.

"Don't mean to be a party pooper, but we really need your help because changelings are attacking Ponyville and I'd really like them to stop because if we don't then the cake shop will be destroyed, and then we'll never have cake again and that would be the greatest tragedy ever!" Twilight shouted in one breath.

"Changelings? Here? Not if I can rough them up first!" Rarity said enthusiastically as she punched the air roughly with her hooves.

"Ugh, do you HAVE to be so loutish?" Applejack sighed at Rarity. Rarity stuck out her tongue at Applejack with a sneer.

"Come on girls! We don't have time to be arguing! We need all six of you to activate your rainbow powers to drive the changelings away! Do any of you know where we can find Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy?" Spike asked wearily, tired of all of the ponies' antics. Rarity nodded to Spike reassuringly.

"I think I saw Fluttershy back in her cottage tending to her animals," said Rarity.

"Come on guys," Pinkie said dryly, "Let's go."

Meanwhile, back in her cottage, Fluttershy was berating Angel bunny for not eating his carrots.

"Don't give me that attitude, Angel!" Fluttershy shouted, "I'll show you an attitude!"

When Angel bunny refused again, Fluttershy stepped on his tail. As soon as she did that, Angel whimpered and finally began to eat.

"That's more like it," Fluttershy huffed triumphantly. Soon after, she heard a knock at her door. Fluttershy sighed.

"Ugh, what NOW? Can't they see I'm busy?" As soon as she opened the door, she saw Spike, Applejack, Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie in front of her.

"What do you want? I'm taking care of critters," Fluttershy said curtly. Before Spike could say anything, Twilight interrupted him.

"Hey Fluttershy! Have you seen Rainbow Dash? We need you and me and Rainbow Dash and Pinkie and Applejack and Rarity to activate our rainbow powers to drive away a bunch of changelings because they're attacking Ponyville, and that's a bad thing because they'll destroy the cake shop if we don't do something soon!" Twilight shouted almost incoherently. Pinkie nodded slowly, and the rest followed suit.

"Oh, Rainbow Dash? She's probably hiding in Cloudsdale somewhere. You know how much of a coward she is."

"Can you help us find her? It's really important," Spike asked pleadingly.

"Sure. For a price," said Fluttershy.

"I found a whole lot of gems today," Rarity said excitedly as she showed her the gems, "Surely you'd like some of those?"

Fluttershy eyed them greedily before taking them into her hooves.

"She went north. Cloudsdale is that way," Fluttershy said as she pointed her hoof into the sky. "Follow me and you'll probably find her."

"But not all of us can fly," Applejack said with annoyance. Pinkie Pie just looked on at everyone blankly.

"Whatever. Not my problem," said Fluttershy, "I guess I'll take Twilight with me. You guys can wait down there."

"Oh boy! More flying for me!" Twilight shouted giddily. Fluttershy sighed with annoyance.

Up in Cloudsdale, Rainbow Dash was sitting in her cloud house, looking out the window at Ponyville below with Tank. The changelings were advancing further into Ponyville, and Rainbow Dash could see the chaos from her house. Rainbow Dash shuddered as she clutched Tank closer to her side.

"Gosh, I know I should do something, but what?" Rainbow Dash said nervously. She continued to stroke Tank as she held him closer to her side.

"I don't know if I can do anything! I sure don't like to fight things, especially scary monsters." Rainbow shuddered in fear as she thought of herself surrounded by a horde of changelings. Soon after, she heard a knock at her door. Rainbow Dash slowly approached the door, shyly.

"Who's there?" she called out nervously.

"Changelings. Duh. Who do you think it is?" Fluttershy asked sarcastically. Twilight beamed energetically as Rainbow answered the door.

"Hey guys," Rainbow said shyly, "What brings you here?"

"Rainbow Dash! We need you to come down here to activate our rainbow powers with the rest of us to fight off this big horde of changelings because they're attacking Ponyville and if they continue to attack Ponyville they'll destroy the cake shop, and that would be a horrible, horrible thing!" Twilight shouted. Rainbow Dash backed up slightly, cowering in fear.

"No way I'm going down there! Not with those scary monsters everywhere! They'll eat me alive! I can't do it!" Rainbow Dash cried as she cowered in fear, shuddering at the thought of each changeling attacking her.

"Don't be such a chicken!" Fluttershy berated Rainbow, "If you don't do something, the changelings will find you up here and get you!"

"What? No!" Rainbow Dash began to panic. She placed herself on the floor in a fetal position, and Twilight came over to comfort her.

"It's okay Rainbow Dash," Twilight said reassuringly, "We'll be there with you when we activate our rainbow powers. Then we can come back to my castle and play lots of games and celebrate when all the changelings are gone!"

Rainbow looked at Fluttershy and Twilight tentatively.

"You really think so?" Rainbow asked nervously.

"I know so! But we'd better get a move on," Twilight said joyfully, "Follow us!" Rainbow Dash followed Twilight and Fluttershy back to Fluttershy's cottage, where Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Spike, and Applejack were waiting.

When they arrived on the ground, Spike arrived to greet them.

"You didn't come a moment too soon! The changelings are arriving right now!" Spike shouted fearfully. Rainbow Dash gulped and trembled with fear, but she decided to stay put so as not to disappoint her friends. The changelings were advancing towards them, beginning to take on their forms.

"This is a bummer," Pinkie said dryly as she stared blankly into the distance.

"Gross! I'd better not get changeling blood on me; that would be nasty!" Applejack said with disgust.

"I'm ready to fight! Bring it on!" Rarity shouted enthusiastically.

"Let's just get this over with," Fluttershy said with boredom in her voice.
The six of them fought the changelings valiantly, each taking care not to hurt each other in case the changelings took on one of their forms. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were the least violent and the most dainty, not hitting hard and punching very delicately. Fluttershy sighed at the both of them and tried to school them on how to properly fight, but to no avail. Twilight laughed along as she did impressions with the changelings while simultaneously fighting them, and Pinkie Pie looked blankly into the distance as she fought. Rarity battled with the most gusto, punching and kicking with all of her hooves.

"Guys! Activate your rainbow power! That's why we're all here!" Spike shouted as he also fought the changeling horde.

When all six of them had sufficiently fought the horde, they gathered in formation in front of Fluttershy's cottage. Each of them began to glow together as the rainbow power surged through their bodies, their hideously designed rainbow forms glowing with power. The changelings looked onward as the main six formed a huge beam of light that penetrated all of their bodies, driving the changelings away. The beam of light continued to spread out from the cottage to all of Ponyville in a huge circular motion, blinding all of the changelings and blasting them off with great force. The main six still retained their rainbow powered forms for a good ten minutes after the changelings had disappeared before returning to their more tastefully mundane everyday forms. When they were sure the changelings were sufficiently gone, everyone cheered, except for Pinkie, who remained stoic and bland.

"That was okay I guess," Pinkie said drably.

"I'm glad that's over! Now I can go home and clean myself up," Applejack said daintily.

"That was fun! Now we can all play games at the castle and sing and dance and have cake!" Twilight said excitedly.

"I'd be ready to fight again!" Rarity and Fluttershy said together.

Rainbow Dash said nothing, but smiled shyly. Spike hugged all six of them, and they hugged him back as well.

"I'm up for a nice, quiet night at home after all of that chaos," Rainbow Dash said tiredly.

"Aren't we all?" asked Spike rhetorically.
