> Big Mac's Journal of Desires > by Just A Random Pegasus > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Crowned > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack quietly walked back into her room. Her brother's journal was tight in her grasp. She flung herself on her bed, looking out the window to let the moonlight hit her face. She couldn't have asked for a better night to read. Earlier that day, she had figured out Big Mac's biggest secret; he wanted to be a royal. Not just the title, he wanted to be an alicorn. He wrote the very journal of stories that Applejack was holding. Applejack comfortably positioned her head on her pillow and flipped open the first page. "Let's see how good your writing is... Princess Big Mac..." Applejack quietly giggled as she saw the title of the first chapter, Crowned. When I woke up one day, I never expected that my life would change that day. I never would have thought that I would help the world with something I could not explain just the other day. I walked outside, smelling the fresh air in the orchard. I walked along the path, bucking a tree to eat a juicy, red apple. The cold juices slid down my throat, causing a pleasurable feeling. I then decided to go out in the empty field at the side of the orchard to feel the fresh morning breeze, and have some time to myself in the open. Everypony in my family had tried to get trees to grow there, but nothing happened. It's almost like the dirt eats the seeds, and never gives them the fresh air they need. I finally decided that I could do something. It was said by many ponies that a few earth ponies have the special magic to cause anything to grow at the blink of an eye. I was the only one who never tried planting anything in that field, because I had a feeling deep in my chest that nothing would happen, and I would humiliate myself. But now, with no one watching me, I decided to give it a go. It was really early, so I was the only one in my family that was up. I walked inside to get some extra seeds we had laying around. After I found some nice apple tree seeds, I walked to the bare field. I then dug the dirt and put some seeds inside. I waited a minute, but nothing happened. Well, it would take a while for it to grow, if it was going to in the first place. I then packed the dirt down a little bit. To my surprise, I felt something surging through my hoof. Suddenly, a whole apple tree grew from under me. I couldn't believe it! I possessed the earth pony magic! I spent the rest of the morning growing trees in the field. I wanted to surprise everypony by the trees in the field. After I was done, I heard three gasps behind me. There they were; Applejack, Granny Smith, and Applebloom. They stood there with their mouths hanging open. Applejack was the first to speak. She told me how much she was honored to be my sister, and that I helped the whole family. Granny Smith and Applebloom nodded. Granny suggested that I tell Princess Celestia. She said I have a lot of earth pony magic, which is extremely rare, and I could probably help anypony grow crops. A few hours later, I boarded the train to Canterlot. Everything went as my usual appearances in public; nopony talks to me, and I talk to nopony. I am shy and only say a few words while talking, so ponies don't associate with me much. I took out a book and started reading it to pass the time. When I arrived in Canterlot, I visited the Canterlot castle. I knew Princess Celestia would be in there, and that I could tell her about my magic. I found her in the throne room, but only after a few encounters with royal guards. Celestia looked surprised to see an earth pony from Ponyville in her castle. She asked what my name was, and I told her. I also told her about my strange magic. Celestia told me that nopony except me has ever had that much earth pony magic. She then thought it would be a good idea for me to take the throne by her side, and help everypony who needs help with their crops. I accepted her offer, of course. Becoming a royal would be amazing. I would also like to help other ponies. After I accepted, I became engulfed in a bright light. Suddenly, I became an alicorn with wings like Celestia herself. Princess Celestia told me that my coronation would be later that day. I was nervous. Well, who wouldn't be! I was about to be officially named "Prince Big Macintosh". As the sun was almost setting, the coronation began. My whole family was there. I looked to see Applejack tearing up. She had always been there for me, and now she was about to see me step up to royalty. When I walked down the aisle, bells rung and a choir sang. I felt more special then than anytime in my life. I soon approached Princess Celestia. She levitated my crown, which had a green apple for a jewel, and placed it on my head. I then stepped outside and made my short speech. After all the celebrating, Princess Celestia informed me of my duties as a prince. They were all pretty easy. She said that ponies would contact me if they needed my help. The train ride back home was very awkward. Ponies kept walking up to me, asking for pictures and autographs. I couldn't use magic yet, but I could probably consult a magically gifted unicorn in Ponyville to help me. Once I got home, I climbed straight into bed. I still wasn't used to wings and a horn being a part of my body, so going to sleep was very difficult at that time. Soon, I finally drifted into sleep. My dreams were filled with happy visions of myself soaring through the skies on my new wings. > The Nightmare's Return > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack shifted around under her covers. She wondered what it would be like to sleep with wings and a horn. You wouldn't be able to bury your face in the pillow, for one. The wings would probably pop out from your body, causing an uncomfortable position. She turned the page to find the next chapter, The Nightmare's Return. I woke up pretty early next morning, still not used to my new features. I took a step outside to see the sun rising. Tonight was the Summer Sun Celebration, and it was going to be held right here in Ponyville. Princess Celestia said that I would announce her to raise the sun and lower the moon. I spread my wings, which I took another long glance at. They were elegant; different from normal Pegasus wings. I then flapped them, and I felt weightless. But I fell to a harsh thud on the ground after only a few seconds. I stood up, shaking the pain from my body. I decided that it would probably not be a good idea to fly to the center of town. I then made my way through the orchard. The streets were empty in Ponyville, except for the few ponies setting up decorations early. I walked to the Town Hall, where the mayor seemed to be giving a fairly nice-looking unicorn instructions. I walked up to her, curious if I could help in any way. The mayor seemed to be really surprised to see me. She bowed, causing the unicorn to bow with her. The unicorn greeted me, and told me her name was Rarity. She also described her career as a fashionista, and that she would be putting ribbons up. I wished her luck and asked the mayor what I could help with. She said that there's already more than enough helpers, and that I could do whatever prince-like-things I wanted. So, I walked back to the orchard. I figured I could buck a few trees and get some fresh apples. I spent a few hours getting baskets of apples. Applejack came to help me, but she asked me a lot about my royalty. As did my whole family. Since the Celebration was in Ponyville, everypony in our whole family came to Ponyville for a visit. Soon, I found Applejack greeting an unfamiliar purple unicorn mare. The mare also had a baby dragon or something like that. My sister pointed over at me, saying my name. The unicorn gave a small bow when she set eyes on me. Applejack then tried to get her to stay for Apple Family treats. The unicorn refused at first, but then agreed when everypony in the family sounded disappointed. After her stomach was full, she walked away, bowing to me one last time. Soon enough, it was time for the celebration to start. I stood on top of the balcony, looking out at the crowd. Ponies from all different places were in the room. I heard some strange noise behind the curtains next to me, but payed no attention to it. Soon, it was time to announce Princess Celestia. I silenced the ponies, and got them excited. I then tried to use my magic to open the curtains. I couldn't do it at first, but I concentrated more, and the curtains opened. I opened my eyes to find that Celestia was missing. The whole crowd below me gasped. I soon saw a mysterious purple mist form beside me. I quickly flapped my wings and harshly descended to the ground below. The mist then cleared, leaving a dark, armored alicorn standing it its place. The alicorn, apparently named Nightmare Moon, started speaking. She said that the night would last forever. I was nervous, like everypony else in the room. I then saw the unicorn that visited the orchard earlier run outside. I then tried to fight the alicorn with my magic, but it did no good. She was too powerful. Suddenly, she was gone. The mist disappeared, leaving only screaming ponies left. I tried to find Applejack, but I assumed she had left, since I didn't see her. I thought I would find her in Sweet Apple Acres, but she wasn't there. Granny Smith had followed me there, and suggested that I stay inside. About an hour later, I saw the sun rise. I then realized that the threat was fixed. I ran to the center of town, finding Princess Celestia. She said that I should be there for when she re-crowns her sister, Princess Luna. When the coronation started, I stood next to Princess Celestia, who had just stepped off a chariot with Princess Luna. Two Pegasus fillies placed a crown upon her head, and everypony cheered. I then saw Applejack with five other ponies that looked very familiar. I had seen them all before. Then, Princess Celestia said that the purple unicorn could move to Ponyville with her new friends. They all looked as happy as can be. Later that night, Applejack recounted her day. Apparently, she had defeated Nightmare Moon and became the bearer of the Element of Honesty. She also told me about her new friends; Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash. She chuckled and also described how Rarity kept asking her what it's like to be a princess. Well, she is technically one, since I am an alicorn prince myself. I then climbed into bed and looked out on the stars. I decided that the next day, I would visit Princess Luna and properly introduce myself. I closed my eyes, and let my mind drift into dreams. > Greetings > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack flipped to the next page, remembering conjuring up the Element of Honesty. It was a real honor to her; and makes her happy whenever a pony mentions her element. A smile formed on her lips as she read the next chapter title, Greetings. I walked up to the train station the next day. I was still a little frustrated that I couldn't fly. It was difficult to get myself off the ground. Applejack said that her friend, Rainbow Dash, could probably assist me. The train soon came rolling into the station, and I awkwardly walked in. Like normal, many ponies were asking for autographs and taking pictures with me. At that moment, I wanted to teleport out. I then remembered I couldn't even use a simple levitation spell yet, and slouched in my seat. When the train finally arrived in Canterlot, I galloped out. Luckily, no ponies followed me. Granny Smith had advised me that mares might be all over me, and that was not what I wanted. I soon came to the Canterlot castle. Memories from the other day flooded my head. I remembered the coronation, and seeing wings and a horn on me. I'll admit, I am still shocked to see them when I look in the mirror. The guards let me pass, only after bowing to me and paying their respect. I trotted to Princess Luna's side of the castle. Many bat-pony guards were standing at attention. I soon came up to a huge door with Luna's cutie mark engraved on the top. One of the guards walked up to me. "Do you want to see Princess Luna?" He asked. I nodded as he knocked on the door. When Princess Luna answered, she seemed shocked to see me. "We forgot that thee was a ruler of Equestria." Luna said to me as she motioned for me to come inside her room. I took a seat on a dark blue chair positioned near the side of her room and she sat on the one opposite. I introduced myself as she nodded her head. "We are Princess Luna, Princess of the Night." Luna then realized she might have to explain herself. "In case thee hasn't noticed, we were trapped in the moon for 1,000 years." I replied with a simple "Eeyup" as she took a sip of her tea. I then said that I was there because I wanted to greet her. She smiled, and told me that it was nice to formally greet me, too. She said that she had seen me at her coronation, but never had a chance to start a conversation. I then had to leave, since she had a meeting in the next few minutes. I was happy to know both of the ponies I would be ruling with. I then tried to remember what I wanted to work on when I got back to Ponyville. Oh, right! Flight. > Soaring > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack imagined what it would be like to have wings; how nice it would be to fly after a stressful day at work. These thoughts continued to process in her head as she turned to the next page. Above the chapter title, Big Mac had drawn some wings. She then saw the title, which was Soaring. I trotted through the streets in Ponyville, looking for a cloud mansion. Applejack said I couldn't miss it. I soon found it, walked up and rang the doorbell. I then heard moaning from the other side of the door. "Coming..." I heard a tired voice say as the door was opened. In the doorway stood a cyan pegasus with rainbow mane and tail. I could just tell from the looks; it was Rainbow Dash. Rainbow's eyes widened at the sight of me. "Oh... you're highness!" She said before bowing. She then stood back up, smiling nervously. "What are you here for?" "I'm here to learn how to fly." I said as Rainbow Dash got a determined look on her face. "Well, you picked the right pony for that. I'll get you flying fast in no time!" Rainbow responded as she stepped outside. I followed her to an open field. "This is where we will practice." She said, flying over to me. She then manually spread my wings. "Show me what you got, Prince." I then tried to put all of my effort into flapping the red, elegant wings on my back. I lifted myself off the ground, but fell only after a few flaps. "...You need some practice." Rainbow said, walking over to me. She then flew to the top of a tree. "Use all the flight you have to fly onto this tree. Then, jump." "Are you crazy?!" I asked as Rainbow rolled her eyes. "This is the best way." I nodded my head as I put all my energy into flapping onto the top of the tree. I then looked at the ground below. I was nervous that I might not survive. I closed my eyes and gave my wings a quick flap, causing me to be weightless. I waited a few seconds, and never felt the ground below me. When I opened my eyes, I saw myself above everything. I dipped and dived, amazed that I suddenly got the hang of it. When I landed on the ground, Rainbow Dash gave me an applause. "See, what did I tell ya?" I looked at her in confusion. "How did I fly that well?" "Well, you knew you absolutely had to fly, otherwise you would hit the ground. So, your wings flapped on their own accord, and you got them to flap at the same time, and at a good rate of speed." "Wow." "Yeah." Rainbow then started to hover off the ground. "I'm guessing you want to learn magic next." "Well, I would like to." I responded as Rainbow Dash nodded her head. "You would want to visit Twilight for that. She's the best magician I've ever met!" Rainbow Dash responded. "Great! Where does she live?" "In the Ponyville library." I nodded my head. "Alright. Gotcha." I then spread my wings, pleased with myself that I could fly. "I'll see ya around, Rainbow Dash. Thank you for your time." With that, I flapped my wings, causing the ground to move away from my hooves. I almost fell, but then regained focus and flapped them at the same time, continuously speeding up to the library. > Magic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack imagined jumping off a tree, expecting muscles of your body to save you and make yourself completely weightless. Applejack never told anypony besides her own mind, but she had always wanted to fly. Just once. She was honestly a little jealous that Twilight got wings. She heard about flying from Rainbow Dash, and had always wanted to try it. Magic, forget about it. She knew she would never be able to concentrate enough to levitate a cup. She turned to the next page where the chapter was titled Magic. I soon reached the Ponyville library on my wings. I hated to descend to the ground, but I knew I wanted to be able to use magic. My hooves touched the ground, and my head spun a little. I wasn't used to flying after I have spent all of my life on the ground. I knocked a few times on the library door. It was a nice little place; if I do say so myself. I was then greeted by Twilight Sparkle. "Oh, Prince Big Macintosh!" She greeted, bowing to me. "What do you need?" I gave her a smile. "You can call me Big Mac." I then folded my wings, which were still spread from flight. "I am here to learn magic." Twilight suddenly looked really happy. "You want to learn magic from... me?" She questioned as I nodded my head. "Applejack told me you were a great magician, Twilight." I saw Twilight flush a little. "She really thinks I'm the right one to teach a prince magic?" I gave her a nod as she pulled me inside her library. "Well, to learn magic, you have to know the basics first." Twilight then paused for a moment and looked me in the eye. "Didn't you open the curtains at the Summer Sun Celebration?" I then nodded my head, remembering that I had done that. "Eeyup." Twilight nodded back. "What did you do?" "What do you mean?" I asked, a little confused. "What were you thinking of?" "Um..." I then thought back to that moment. "I concentrated on opening the curtains and... it happened." Twilight nodded again. "Well, alicorn magic is stronger than unicorn magic, so it's no mystery that you were able to take to it that quickly." She then put a glass in front of me. "Try levitating this glass." She suggested. I put all my concentration on it, and felt a nice, cool feeling on my horn. I then opened my eyes, and saw that I was levitating the glass in the air. "Good. Now, try to move it around." Twilight said. I concentrated harder, and got the glass to move all around the room. I then set it on the table. "Good!" Twilight remarked. It was a little tiring to do that, but I knew that I would get the hang of it. "Twilight, will you mind teaching me teleportation?" I asked as Twilight's eyes sparkled. "Wow. Am I really that good at teleportation that you want to learn from me?" I smiled. "Eeyup." Twilight smiled back as she put a book in front of my face. "Now, read the spell." I did as she said. I closed the book with my magic when I was done. "Alright. Now, focus on the area next to my bed, remember what you read, and charge up your horn according to that." I nodded my head and focused on the area she told me to. I then charged up my horn, letting the warm aura engulf my horn. Once I got as much magic that I could on my horn, I let it go. When I opened my eyes, I was a level above Twilight, right next to her bed. "Great!" Twilight complimented. "Now, teleport back down here." I charged up my horn again, and teleported back down. It was a strange sensation, but a cool one none the less. "You're a natural at this, Big Mac!" Twilight beamed as she put the teleportation book back on the shelf. "Do you want to learn anything else?" I shook my head. "Nope." I then walked over to the door. "Thanks, Twilight." "No problem! Feel free to fly by anytime, Big Mac!" With that, I teleported back to my room, feeling pleased with myself. > The Gala > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack couldn't help but wonder how nice it would be to be able to teleport. She could go anywhere, anytime, without having to worry about the trip there. The rush of magic was something she always wanted to experience, but knew she couldn't. Well, she loved her connection with the earth much more than magic. She turned to the next chapter, titled The Gala. Princess Celestia had invited me to the Grand Galloping Gala. Of course, I was flattered by the offer to go to the fanciest party in Equestria, but I was nervous. I have heard that there were many high class ponies that attended, and that I wouldn't fit in because of my farm labor. I ignored that thought and flew to Canterlot, wanting to get more flight practice in. I soon arrived. Even though the Gala was later that evening, Princess Celestia wanted me to help earlier. I went into the castle and was given a checklist. I then had to go through the castle and gardens, and make sure everything was perfect. Soon, the sun began to set. It was almost time for the Gala to start. I knew Applejack and her friends were going to be there, so I would have at least somepony to talk to if things get awkward. I soon saw a big line of ponies walking in. Suddenly, a song was being sung. I soon heard Applejack singing. She had told me that she wanted to go to sell things for the family, but I honestly didn't expect her to make a song out of it. Soon, the song went by, fireworks were set off, and the party officially begun. Princess Celestia was on the top of the main stairs, greeting everypony who walked in. I didn't see Princess Luna, but I figured that Celestia put her on night watch. I walked into the main room, where an orchestra was playing. They were really great musicians. I was then approached by three fine looking mares. Well, I'm happy that is over and done with. All the mares wanted were autographs and to flirt. Well, I guess that's what mares do to princes these days. Man, I'm getting real sick of being called "Prince Charming". Oh well. They took away most of the time for me. Now, I had only about a half hour left. As soon as that thought crossed my mind, I saw my sister walk in the room with a gigantic cake, that honestly looked really good. When I was about to walk up to her, her pink friend hopped off the stage and landed on the light side of the cart, flinging the cake towards Rarity and another stallion. The stallion blocked himself with Rarity, which caused the Element of Generosity to get real mad. She flung cake all over the stallion, causing him to back into a statue, which fell. Rainbow Dash made an attempt to catch it, but it snapped in two as she was holding it up. I couldn't believe what just happened. I didn't believe it could get any worse. Well, I was wrong. Momentarily, Applejack's shy friend came bursting through the door, letting the animals from the garden in. "You're... going... to LOVE ME!" She shouted, causing the animals to cause chaos in the Gala. Princess Celestia soon came in, silenced everypony, and moved the animals out. I had donuts with Applejack and her friends afterwards. It was mighty embarrassing to tell them that I was surrounded by mares the whole time. A few minutes after we sat down, Princess Celestia walked in. She helped the six realize that tonight was their best night ever. Well, it certainly wasn't mine. It was fine; none the less. They all then started laughing, causing me to laugh along as well. After our little giggle fit, Celestia told me that she would see me in Canterlot the next day; for I was needed somewhere. I nodded and gave her a friendly smile, ready for the next day. > Royal Duties > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack remembered the Grand Galloping Gala. It was quite a night, that's for sure. She then wondered if it was embarrassing for Big Mac to write about his fantasy self getting chased by mares. She giggled and flipped to the next chapter, Royal Duties. I flew over to Canterlot, feeling the nice morning breeze flow through my mane. It was a perfect morning to be out flying. When I landed, I stepped into the Canterlot castle, where Princess Celestia was waiting. She smiled when she saw me walk in. "Hello, Prince Big Macintosh. Ready for your first official royal duty?" She asked as I nodded my head. The princess then handed me a map. "An area of Las Pegasus lost 1/4 of their crops the other day. I'm counting on you to go there and regrow their crops." I gave a smile. "Eeyup." "Thank you." Celestia responded as I made my way out of the castle. Now, I had to fly all the way to Las Pegasus. I have heard many great things about that place, and always wanted to visit. Now, I was on my way there. I passed by many other places in Equestria that I thought were very nice. I knew I couldn't stop; for I had to help others with my earth pony magic. I soon felt like my wings were about to give out. Before I stopped to take a rest, I saw flashing lights in the distance. I knew I should keep going, since I was pretty sure that was Las Pegasus. I flew above big buildings and bright, neon lights. Eeyup, this was definitely my destination. I soon saw the outskirts of the city, where there were a few fields of crops. I then saw a lot of dead crops and flew down. There were some farm ponies trying to help pick the dead crops out of the field. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to not pull out the dead crops." I said. The farmer looked up and saw me. His eyes got real wide. "P-Prince Big Macintosh!" He remarked before bowing. I then smiled at him. "I'll fix your crops for ya." I said before walking over to the field. I put my hoof on a few crops and concentrated as hard as I could. Suddenly, I felt electricity come out of my hoof and travel through the ground. Suddenly, all the dead crops grew to their full health. "W-what?!" The farmer exclaimed, staring at the field wide-eyed. I winked at him and flew into the city. I knew I wanted to stay in Las Pegasus for a day or so. So, I tried to find the nicest looking hotel. > Las Pegasus > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack giggled. She thought that taking Big Mac to Las Pegasus would be a very interesting birthday present. Knowing him and his desires, he would probably daydream of walking the city as an alicorn. Applejack flipped to the next page, titled Las Pegasus. I woke up in an unfamiliar room. I looked around and realized that I was in Las Pegasus. I stood up, stretched my legs and wings, and walked over to the window. When I looked outside, I saw many ponies walking around the street. I also saw many stores and buildings. It sure was impressive. I've heard that in Las Pegasus, there are many fancy ponies roaming the streets. I might blend in here, but I'm not so sure. I quickly brushed my mane; making sure my appearance looked nice. Now, it was time to go out into one of the craziest cities in all of Equestria. It's only noon, and I've already signed at least thirty autographs. I guess I'm starting to get used to the popularity, but I'm not so sure. I see a group of unicorn mares come up to me, and man, are they a knockout. They explain that they are all singers collaborating together on a song. I know I've heard their names before. Their songs are always being played wherever I go! So, they asked me to be in their music video. The song is supposedly about a mare that falls in love with a stallion as amazing as a prince. Of course, I have to be there for the metaphorical meaning. I spent quite a bit of the day acting for the video. Parts of it were extremely awkward. I had to act like a mare was my special somepony. I honestly don't know if I want to be in a music video ever again. But oh well. During the time, I pretended that the mare was Cheerilee: my mind substituted in the nice, caring mare with the most beautiful smile I've ever seen... Enough of my daydream. Now, I have to fly back home to Ponyville. I am relieved that I could fly through the air, letting the breeze flow through my mane and wash all of my worries away.
