“Cadence!”

The word echoed off the vaulted ceiling and bounced around the room for a few moments, interrupted only by heavy panting and soft whimpers. She arched up from where she’d pressed her body down against her lovers, softly brushing her lips up against hers while she slowly got her wind back. She drew her lips down her neck and gave a little nip, causing her lover to groan in appreciation.

Cadence had to grin a little at that, “Geeze, auntie.” she chided softly, brushing that gloriously long mane out of her eyes and kissing her ‘aunt’ gently. “You’re flattering me again.” She fluttered her eyelashes coyly at the mare beneath her before reaching around to squeeze her fine fluffy ass firmly and draw her out of her reverie.

Then she giggled when Celestia pushed aside her mane and arched an eyebrow at her. “Where on earth did you learn how to do that?” There was a little wheeze in the end there, obviously to tease her. “Harmony, Cadence. Nopony’s done that to me since...” Celestia got her breath back faster than anypony she’d ever known, which usually meant more fun.

But something had stalled out in Celestia’s eyes, and Cadence could instantly sense the shift in her mood. It was subtle in most ponies, but in Celestia it was like a tide changing in mid-wave. Inexorable and powerful as an avalanche, and all she could do was try and stem it. “Since when?” She prompted quietly, settling down alongside her.

She had to be soothing, so she clasped her hand around Celestia’s and drew her up slowly off the bed. She pressed against her, hoping the reminder of her company would shake her into speaking. “I… She’s…” Celestia sucked in a deep breath and exhaled softly. “Luna. Not since I spent time with Luna.”

The name nearly took her breath away. Auntie never, ever talked about her sister in public, and just as rarely in private. She moved one hand to Celestia’s shoulder and slowly worked her fingers into the knot of muscles that were tensing up. She was worse than Shiny when he got all stressed out, sheesh. Gotta change the subject. “I learned it from Shiny, of course.” She said with a soft, teasing voice. “He’s got quite the imagination for somepony with as little experience as he has.”

That startled a laugh out of Celestia, and some of the tension drained away from her shoulders. “He’s a good stallion.” She cocked her head and smiled, “He does know you visit me like this, right?” There was a hint of warning in her tone, and a little teasing too.

But Cadence was ready for that one. She smiled wickedly, “Of course he does. The hard part was convincing him not to try and sneak in!” She winked slyly at Celestia, who had gone wide eyed at that. This would be a good way to distract her. “He wanted me to ask if you’d be willing to let him join us one of these nights.”

Celestia stared at her, then smacked her forehead with her hoof and laughed helplessly. “Sweet Harmony. Stallions!” She said the word as though it summed up the whole history of the male species, and Cadence couldn’t disagree with her. “Well I suppose we’d need to find somepony else to look after Twilight, then. Else she might sneak in and try to see what we were up to…” The way she singsonged that last bit made Cadence facehoof.

Ah yes. Keeping Twilight from sneaking off to see ‘her favorite foalsitter’ and her ‘big-brother-best-friend-forever’ was about as likely to happen as Celestia waking up and moving Canterlot to Manehatten. Not gonna happen. “She’s so attached to her brother,” Celestia said, a sad smile crossing her face. “And she reminds me so much of Lulu.”

Crap. Siblings was a bad direction, she had to abort! But Celestia wasn’t going to be having any of it, it seems. “Cadence, I appreciate what you’re doing, but distracting me only works so long.” She turned away from her, quietly regarding the moon that was slowly rising into the sky outside the window. It was a beautiful night, the kind that lots of mares and colts would be using as an excuse to get out under the stars and celebrate their love with one another.

So distraction was out. That meant she’d just have to help her work through this. “What was she like?” Cadence asked, quietly wrapping her arms around Celestia’s middle and pressing firmly up against her from behind. She rested her head on Celestia’s shoulder and pressed their cheeks together.

Celestia nuzzled against her and spoke softly. “She was so vivacious. So full of energy and life, and twice as mischievous as you ever were.” There was a wry smile on Celestia’s face. “She loved to prank me and anypony else she could get away with. She once fed a dose of Poison Joke to the entire court!” She laughed brightly, and the dark of the night seemed to flee at her amusement.

Cadence simply squeezed Celestia softly and tried to radiate compassion and warmth, hoping that she’d be able to help her through this. “She always loved attention,” Celestia continued, bowing her head. “She’d make meteor showers on nights of romance, and loved to flood the sky with aurora’s during the winter months. She had an artistry for it that I’m afraid I am no equal to.” She leaned her head against Cadence’s, and her shoulders began to heave. “I should have done more.” She whispered softly.

It hadn’t been the first time she’d heard those words. And as she had before, she simply wrapped her arms around Celestia and hugged her closely. “Shh.” She softly hushed, kissing Celestia’s cheek. “We both know you did all you could, Auntie. And you still are.” She gently nudged Celestia with her nose. “Things are going to work out, I promise. It won’t be much longer.”

Celestia nodded a little, but there was no stopping the slow stream of tears down her cheeks. “I miss her so much, Cadence.” It was all she could do to hold on to Celestia as tears took over, and Cadence just held her. Sometimes a pony just needed to cry, and no amount of love or magic could make that go away.

So she held on, soothing with gentle strokes down her aunt’s side and soft noises of encouragement as Celestia’s shoulders heaved with wracking sobs as tears flowed into her hands. She was letting go of a little of the pain, a little of the loneliness that stalked her every night, and Cadence just hugged her. It was what she needed right now.

But sobs inevitably turned into mere tears, and those too inevitably turned into sniffles broken up by weeping. And Cadence held her, as warmly as she could until the tears slowly died away. It was hard to wait to speak for that long, but it was important. Words would’ve been wasted until Celestia could hear them again, and Cadence wanted them to mean something.

So when Celestia’s sobbing finally quieted into silent tears, she did speak. Softly, gently, infinitely so. “I know, auntie. It’s okay.” She squeezed once, reminding Celestia that she was there. “It’s okay.” She repeated, and the sobbing slowly died away to sniffles. She called upon her magic and found the box of tissues not too far away. “I know you’ll see her again, someday.” She tugged a tissue out and gently dabbed at the Princess’ cheeks.

Celestia’s hand came up to hold hers, tissue and all. Cadence squeezed back and nuzzled her cheek up to wipe away the tears. “You’re going to get all soggy doing that,” Celestia said, turning and smiling faintly at her.

“Pfft,” Cadence stuck her tongue out. “We were already soggy, you silly.” She winked cheekily, licking Celestia’s cheek. That got a giggle, albeit a weak one, out of her. “If you wanted me to make you soggier, I’m sure I could think something up.” She put on her very best sultry-lascivious look, licking her lips with anticipation.

“Oh, I just bet you wou- EEP!” Celestia’s comeback was silenced by a kiss, one Cadence planted firmly enough to send them both toppling off of the bed in a mass of flailing limbs and giggles. She kept Celestia’s lips occupied with kisses while she wrestled herself back atop her aunt and pressed her breasts firmly up against Celestia’s own. “You horny little tease!” Celestia gasped out between kisses, only to be silenced by more of them.

After a few struggling moments, Celestia finally tore herself away and held Cadence back by grabbing the scruff of her neck with magic. “I wasn’t finished, niece.” She cooed, eyes sparkling between tears and smouldering desire. “As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted…”

“Sexily interrupted,” Cadence corrected, reaching in to tickle Celestia’s sides and finding her hands quickly pulled back and restrained behind her butt. “Ooo, kinky, Auntie. I didn’t know you went in for that kind of thing.” She cooed at her, hoping to rile Celestia up to the point where she might forget her troubles.

Celestia smirked. “Don’t push me, Cadence, or I’ll take you down into the dungeons I haven’t shown you yet.” She purred her words, looking serious enough that for a fleeting moment Cadence was sure she was actually going to do just that. “But that’s for another night, when I’m in a better mood for such things.” She giggled softly, then reached up to clasp both of Cadence’s cheeks in her hands.

Her hands were surprisingly warm and dry, given how many tears she’d just been shedding. “Thank you,” She whispered softly, pressing her forehead to Cadence’s and closing her eyes. “I know it is not always easy to deal with me, especially given all of the other ponies you must look out for and care for, but-”

Cadence pushed her head forward and locked Celestia into a soft kiss. Her words were cut off and replaced by the sound of her tongue entwining with Cadence’s own, and a soft moan of pleasure. She felt warm and her lips tasted of strawberries and cream. Cadence darted featherlight kisses onto Celestia’s lips, over and over again. “I know you usually go back to your quarters, but…” Celestia whispers between soft kisses were just barely audible.

Cadence smiled faintly. “Shiny’s probably asleep already, and he’ll have maneuvers tomorrow at the crack of dawn.” She giggled and reached out with her magic to snuff the lantern hanging above the bed and leaving them in near total darkness, the room lit only by the soft glow of the moon. She moved to stand up, but found her waist wrapped about with Celestia’s legs before she could. “So we’re staying on the floor…” She let her words trail off, wondering just what Auntie had gotten into her mind.

“Just until I decide you can move.” Celestia purred, and pulled her head back in for another kiss. This time she was the aggressor, pushing Cadence’s tongue aside with her own and exploring her mouth boldly. Cadence, in no position now to argue, simply returned the passion. She squeezed and stroked her fingertips along Celestia’s body and moaned in all the right places…

Right up to the point where she felt a firm hand grasp her waist, and then felt Celestia shifting her superior weight. “Mmf!” Was the only sound she could make amidst the kiss as she tumbled over onto her back, with her Aunt now somehow pinning her to the bed with one hand while her other made sure Cadence’s wrists were held up and out of the way.

In the dim moonlight, Princess Celestia towered above her with a smouldering smile. “Now let me show you something I used to enjoy doing to Lulu.” She cooed, and bent down to press her lips firmly against Cadence’s and she could feel the spark of something magical going on beneath her waist. It was all she could do to moan sweetly into the darkness, and press firmly up into her lover's care.

The night was still young, after all.
