Am I Twilight Sparkle?

View Online

I sat on my couch, working on the Princess Luna cosplay a customer had asked me to do. Sewing the dress had taken me hours upon hours, but I had finally completed it. The dress was slim, sexy, and dark, just like her. It was all blue, black on the bottom. I was now working on the crown, sewing in the black fabric. I sewed in the last touches, the small crown now having a fabric cover.

"Pinkie, she's not Nightmare Moon. And she's definitely not going to gobble you up!"

I looked up from my sewing machine, seeing Twilight covering Pinkie's mouth on the TV screen. It was one of my favorite episodes of My Little Pony, Luna Eclipsed. I liked this scene the most because of how Pinkie Pie was dressed. She was a chicken! Shouldn't Scootaloo be in that?
I put the crown by the dress, and grabbed the pendant. I still had to iron on the crescent moon. I picked up the shape, and ironed it on to the pendant. I put it with the other parts of the costumes, and sat back in my chair, putting my feet up on the coffee table. I picked up my TV remote, and turned up the volume.

"Oh, it is the ringleader of the frightened children."

I laughed. Princess Luna, in my opinion, was hilarious in this episode. I wish she got more episodes.

For the rest of the day, I re-watched my favorite episodes, relaxing for all the time I had until my next costume request.

****

I was getting ready for bed, brushing my long black hair. I set my brush down, looking into the mirror, my hazel eyes staring back at me. Was this really all I was going to do? Wake up, see if I have any costumes to make, do something with it, and go to bed? I love my job, but I want something more in my life. I just didn't know what it was.
I got into my bed, pulling the blankets to my chin. I lay awake, staring at the white ceiling of my New York apartment, thinking of what I'm missing in my life. After a while, I slowly drifted off to sleep....

****

I woke up, my head feeling groggy. For some reason, I had a dream where I was taken into the galaxy, flying at the speed of light. I kept going until I was in Equestria! Why would I have that dream? Looking around, I saw my room looked different. The room was made out of crystals, It looking like a cheap toy made out of acrylic. Like Twilight's castle... I thought for a moment. I must have been dreaming. Or hallucinating. Right?
I reached to touch my head, only to feel soft fur on my forehead instead of skin. Was I wearing gloves? I put my hand down, only to see a purple hoof.
"OH MY GOD!" I screamed. I shook my hoof, trying to get it off, but it didn't work. I [tried] to run to where the mirror was, and saw something extraordinary. I was a pony. I was Twilight Sparkle. The horn, the wings, the cutie mark. I was my favorite pony.

"Twilight?!?" Someone screamed. It was high-pitched, almost like a girl's. But it had a male sound to it.

A small claw opened the door, to reveal a small purple dragon with a green belly. Spike.

"Twilight, I heard you scream. Are you alright? I know you're not yourself since you got up at 12:00, but-"

"It's 12:00!!" I yelled. I started running around the room, falling so much I got a bruise on my cheek. I usually sleep in, since I work at home, but I usually got up at 10:00. But 12:00? This was unheard of! Spike put a claw on my hoof, telling me to stop running. He smiled up at me, giving a tug at my heart. Rarity was right, he was adorable.

"You'll have plenty of time to get ready. Don't worry, he won't be coming over until 4:00!" He pulled away, looking at me. A look was on his face, as if he was confused.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

I swallowed, gathering up a smile. Whatever was happening, I was going to figure it out. I'll do it calmly, like how Twilight did in Equestria Girls."I lost my train of thought, Spike. Who is it that I'm meeting with?"

He laughed, throwing his head back. "Rarity was right, you are nervous! It's Flash Sentry, that guy you won't admit you have a crush on! You finally had the guts to ask him to a date!" He started laughing again. "I remember you pulling out books on how to ask a stallion out. Ha! I think I got a picture of that!"

I breathed in, trying not to scream. Flash Sentry? The guy every MLP fan hates, including me. If I had to go on a date with him, I would probably barf. I breathed out, stifling a laugh. "Oh, Spike, you've been mentioning Rarity a lot. Would you like me to call her over?"

A shocked look crossed his face, along with a blush as red as a cherry. It looked like it spread to his neck!

"Twilight, she's in the main room!" He whispered. The bedroom must've been close to the room with the thrones.

I thought for a moment. Why would Rarity be here? "Why?" I asked.

A frown appeared on his face. "Twilight, you can stop acting like you don't know about anything. I mean, I know you like him a lot, and you hate admitting your feelings, but it's getting old!" He tilted his head, telling me to follow him. While walking in a wide hallway, he continued.
"She's here to help you get ready! She offered, and you accepted, remember? We were at the Hayburger, I think. She said she would help you with everything from your mane to your manners."

Before I could respond, we were in what I called the throne room. You know, the room with the map-table thing? All of the chairs were empty except for Rarity's. She looked the same as in the show, except she had a saddle bag attached to her. She turned, and beamed her iconic smile. "Twilight!"

She ran over and hugged me. "So, are you nervous?" She asked. She guided me over to the thrones, me sitting on mine and she was sitting on hers. I looked up to see the roots of the Golden Oak Library, with the gem memories hanging from it. I smiled. This was the only part of the castle I liked!

Rarity pulled out 3 forks, one longer than the rest. She set them down on the table map, and asked me, "Which one is a salad fork?"

I sighed. This was going to be a long 4 hours.

****

I stood by the entrance of the castle with Rarity and Spike, waiting for Flash to arrive. I sighed. Why was I going through with this? I don't want to date a pony like all those weird fanfictions! I know technically I was now a pony, but I was born a human, so I think like a human. This was so wrong!
Rarity used her magic to levitate the silk yellow necklace with a magenta jewel in the center. I believe it's the one Twilight wore to the coronation. She put it on my neck, making it straight.

"There she said. looking me up and down. "Flash Sentry is going to pass out when he sees you!"

I forced a smile, making sure they don't know I'm barfing inside. We waited a while, me watching the clock while thinking. What was I going to do? I don't know what I'm going to do to get back home in New York. I thought about telling someone, like Flash. It may get me out of here. The clock hit 4:02, him being 2 minutes late. I understood, of course, but Rarity looked like she may scream.
The doorbell rang. Nervousness overwhelmed me. He was here! Rarity and Spike smiled, exchanging looks. Spike opened the door, revealing everyone's favorite stallion.
He looked like he usually did, put he didn't have on the guard armor. He looked nervous, resembling my face.

"Hi." I said. stepping out of the castle.

He gulped. "Hi."

Rarity saw how nervous we were, so she said, "Well, you two have fun!" and closed the door. Wow.

Silence crept over us while we were walking to..... somewhere. I decided to break the silence.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

He stopped, looking at me. "I thought you would know." He said.

I was looking at him. too. How does he not know where we're going?

"Ummmmm," I said, thinking. I had to decide, so I did the only thing I could think of. "Let's go to Canterlot."

He smiled, probably liking the idea. "To the train station!"

****

I finally managed to find the train station, telling Flash that I had it moved [I can't believe he believed me]. On the train, the ponies around us kept looking at us, whispering, "Is that Princess Twilight Sparkle?" or "Who is that stallion next to her?" I tried my best to ignore the eyes on us, but it was kind of hard. I looked over at Flash, seeing he had the same problem. I whispered to him, "This follows me all day."
I wanted to get into character.
He smiled, nodding.

We got off the train, watching it head to God [Celestia] knows where.

"So." Flash spoke. "Where are you taking me?"

"It's a surprise!" I walked around, trying to find the castle. I really wanted to see the Archives, to find something that could help me. I may even tell him, if I decide.
I found it, the guards letting me in without flinching. I wanted to make sure to not run into Celestia or Luna, or something bad may happen. Of all ponies, Celestia would be able to figure me out.

"Okay," I whispered. "I don't want to run into the princesses. Can you help me make sure we don't?"
A confused look appeared on his face, but he agreed. It took me a while to find the Archives, but we managed to get inside without running into the princesses.

Flash decided to ask, "The Archives? Why here?"

I thought for a moment. This may be the only time to tell someone. I decided I was. "I need to tell you something."

His eyebrows raised, curious. I breathe in, butterflies in my stomach. "I-I... I'm not Twilight Sparkle."

He looked even more confused. "What do you mean?"

"I'm a....... human. I just woke up here, and-"

He put a hoof on my mouth, smiling. "Thank God!" He said, the hoof still on my mouth.

I lowered his hoof, allowing me to say, "What do you mean?"

"I'm a human, also."

Am I Flash Sentry?

View Online

" You're a human!" I exclaimed, shocked and surprised at what he just told me. Flash Sentry, a stallion every MLP fan hates.
"Yes." He said, holding out a hoof. "Real name is Jason Barnes, journalist for the New York Times."
I gasped. "You're from New York?"
"Yep. Born and bread. What's your name?"
Huh. Born and Bread like me. Maybe I will get along with this troll. "Ava Barnes."
"Well, Miss. Ava, it's a pleasure to meet you."
He gazed into my eyes, me doing the same thing. It seemed like we did this for hours. I blushed, and said, "How did you get here? I mean, I don't know how I got there, but...."
He sat down, and I did the same. "It's a long story."

****

"You fell into hot water? I don't get it."

I was sitting at A Voce Columbus, a favorite Italian restaurant of mine. Across from me, the stupidest chick asked me things from "Is my boob sticking out?" to "how did you fall into hot water?" How does she not understand I'm referencing, with the phrase, our blind date? What even made it worse was she wore the tightest red dress that barely covered her thighs. Seems like she wants a one night stand to a long life of love.
"It's a phrase." I responded, groaning.

Her brown eyes looked at me, confused. "What?"

I sighed. Before I could respond, she said, "I have to go potty. I'll be right back."
She then stood up, almost falling from her stiletto heels. She walked toward the back, pulling down her dress a couple of times, the elderly folk staring at her legs, disgusted.
I took this as my chance to get the heck out of dodge. I stood up, and ran outside, whistling for a taxi. One came after four attempts.
I slid in, yelling at the driver, "Just start driving, I'll tell you where to go after that!"
He started driving, and I said my apartment complex.

"Oakwood Apartments, Manehattan!" I said to the driver, after we turned the corner.

"Sure thing!"

****

I opened the door to my apartment, catching my breath. Since Tabitha, the stupid chick I went on a date with, saw me get into a taxi, she ran after me. Literally, she followed us from the sidewalk. When I handed the guy my money, I hear her scream, "Jason!!!!" I had to sprint up the stairs to the 3rd floor like I did in high school.

I started for my bedroom, only to see Max, and his daughter, Sophia, on the couch, watching TV while eating frozen dinners. Max was also a journalist, so technically we considered ourselves co-workers and best friends. Before I met him, he got married at 19 to his high school sweetheart, Leslie, because he got her pregnant at 18. She started to get involved in drugs and stuff like that, so they got a divorce and Max got custody.
They were watching the MLP episode where Rarity has to get Cadance's hair ready or something, I don't remember. This is also why we considered ourselves best friends, we love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! Along with Sophia, we are the over obsessed fans. The only problem is we can't express it that much because our boss is a big taboo supporter. If he found out we were bronies, we would be fired as fast as Pinkie Pie could make cupcakes [Yeah, I just went there]. So we would just sit on my couch, wait for new episodes, or watch reruns.
But what we could also do is awesome. We get to write fanfictions! Max and I have a popular combined Fimfiction account for our stories. Since we have at least 3,000 followers, we also help others with proofreading. There is no way our boss could find out!

"Hi, Uncle Jason!" Sophia said, climbing over the couch. That is also why we are friends. For some reason, she calls me her uncle even though I'm not related to her.

"Hi!" I said, picking her up and setting her down.

"So, how did the date go, is she a keeper?" Max asked.

I frowned. "She is stupid, Max. Why would you set me up with her?"

He laughed so hard that Sophia must've thought she had to, too. "Oh, man, why would you ask me, anyway?"

"Because I thought you were smart with women?"

He covered Sophia' ears. "Besides giving me my beautiful daughter, I chose a girl who did so much meth, she looks 45, not 26."

Sophia looked up at her father. "Daddy, why did you cover my ears, I'm a big girl!"

He ignored that. "Jason, I'm sorry. But you should be looking yourself."

I walked over to the couch, sat down, and said, "You know how that went."

****

"And then I fell asleep and had this dream where I was in space, going at the speed of light, until I was here!" I explained, using my hooves.

Twilight Ava and I were at the Canterlot Archives, it at least being 11:00. She yawned, using her hoof to cover her mouth. Why did it have to sound so beautiful to me? Why did she have to be so cute? I stared at her, daydreaming.

"Uh, Jason, are you alright?" she asked, putting a hoof on my forehead. I shook my head, getting me out of my daze.

"Yep!" I said, blushing. "Never better!"

A puzzled look crossed her face, but she didn't question me. "Okay," She said. She looked out the window, the moon shining on one side of her face. "We should head back to Ponyville. I didn't find anything here on humans."
While we were explaining each other's stories, we were looking on books to help us. We didn't find anything, so we just sat down after a while.

"So, should I head back to the Crystal Empire?" I asked.

"What? No! No! I think we should stick together, since we need to get out of this together."

"Umm, ok." I said. "But what about his job? What do I do about that?"

She thought for a moment. After about 1 minute, a evil grin stretched across her face. "Oh, I'll take care of that."

Am I Really Going to Send this Letter?

View Online

I held it in my hoof, the one thing that will make this "stay" awkward. Jason and I were in Twilight's castle, sitting on a couch in the library. We were both staring at it, unsure if we should send it.

"Are you sure we should do this?" He asked. "Cadance could get the wrong idea."

"Let me just reread it." I opened up the letter, and read,

Dear Princess Cadance,

I know you know that I recently went on a date with one of your guards, Flash Sentry. Just so you will not be wondering, I enjoyed my time with him. We went to Canterlot and I showed him around. After we returned home, we realized we did not want to leave each other. I know this is much to ask, but would you be willing to let Flash Sentry stay with me for sometime? Since he is your guard, I will let you decide the time limit, if you make the decision. I fully understand if you do not want to cooperate with my request.

Sincerely,

Princess Twilight Sparkle

I stopped reading, blushing furiously. I could sense him looking at me, and I shivered. Why in the world was I attracted to him? Wait, did I just say that? No, no, I couldn't be attracted to him. He was Flash Sentry. I know he was really Jason, but still. I just have to keep on denying myself.

"Okay." He said. "Should we sent it?"

I turned, calming myself. "I'll go get Spike."

I practically sprinted out of the room, knowing Spike was in his own room, seeing him there earlier. I knocked on the door, sweat dripping down my face, I wiped it, knowing I was nervous of what he was gonna think.

I had always been like this, afraid of what people thought of me. When I was younger, I always wanted to wear my nerdy T-shirts to school. I had shirts ranging from Disney to Nintendo. But when my mom would drop me off, I got scared. I would see people looking at what I was wearing, whispering to their friends, and I would run to the nearest bathroom, and cry in the bigger stall of the two, my big square glasses falling to the bridge of my nose. It took me three attempts to try to wear a T-shirt until I learned to just give it up.

I heard the door opening, me snapping back into reality. He had a tired look on his face, the Rarity doll in his right claw.

"What?!?" He said, slightly yelling.

I smiled the smallest smile I could muster. "Ummm, Spike, could you send this letter to Cadance, please?"

I held it out to him, and he dropped his doll, tearing open the envelope. Sweat was know soaking my mane as his eyes skimmed the parchment letter. He looked up at me, then back at the paper, and said, "Okay."

Okay? You've gotta be kidding me. I was expecting a laugh or a death threat to Jason, not an "Okay." He breathed in, waited a few seconds, then blew out, the green flames sending the letter to the Crystal Empire.

"Couldn't you have waited till I got another envelope?" I asked. "Or until we walked to the library?"

He blinked. "Oh. Sorry. You know how lack of sleep affects me."

We stood there for a while, waiting for Cadance to respond. It was midnight, and I wasn't sure if she was gonna read it until morning. Surprisingly, though, Spike spit out another letter, only saying, He can stay as long as you like! My blush crept through again at her words.

Spike then said, "Good Night," then slammed the door, me shrieking at the slam.

I walked back to the library, holding the letter in my mouth. It felt weird in my mouth, like sandpaper. I hope it's not wet because of saliva.
When I got there, Jason was looking through the tall bookshelves, trying to fly higher. He turned his head, and when he had me in full view, his wings got in the neutral position, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Jason!" I yelled. I spit the letter out of my mouth, running to his aid. I held out my hoof, and he reluncantly took it. I helped him stand up, his hoof holding tightly to mine (how is that even possible?). He looked up at me, those deep blue eyes borring into mine. After a while, he smiled, and said, "Thanks."
While taking his hoof off of mine, he looked at the letter, and walked over to it.

"What did she say?" He made a motion to pick it up.
I freezed. I really didn't want him to read that. I tried to move, but I was frozen in place. My eyes drooped to the floor, knowing my old instincts were coming back. Shy, embarrassing Ava.
Suddenly, I saw the letter below me in magenta aura. Wait, was this magic? I looked to Jason to make sure he hadn't sprouted a horn. Seeing no horn, I looked up, to see my horn glowing with the same aura.

"What?!?" I yelled. After I screamed, the letter dropped to the floor. I looked over at Jason, seeing he had the same look on his face.

"How did I do that?" I asked. He shrugged, and went to pick up the letter. I saw his eyes skim the 8 words, a faint pink appearing on his cheeks.

"Huh. And I thought Celestia was a troll."

I smiled, trying to hold back my giggles. But I couldn't help it, what he said was so funny! I burst into laughter, falling to the floor. Soon, I heard deeper laughs, only to see Jason laying next to me, laughing and crying at the same time. I soon came to tears.

After catching my breath, I stood up, wiping the joyful tears from my eyes. I hadn't laughed like that in years, ever since my mother died.

Mother.

My lingering smile faded, replaced with a frown as big as the Brooklyn Bridge. Mom had died of cancer three years ago, my once uncontrollable laughter gone. Mom could always make me laugh, from stupid jokes to insults from the people who used to bully me. She was my best friend, and she had to go away.

I sat where I stood, staring at the floor. I could feel the tears coming, but I did my best to try to keep them in. I didn't want him to think I was a baby.
But it was no use. I started to sob, the tears streaming down my face. Soon I started to cry, the sobs becoming louder and louder until they were screams.

"Why did you have to go, mom?" I asked to myself, staring at the ceiling.

I felt something furry go over my body, covering me like a blanket. I looked over only to see Jason, his wing over me, sitting by my side. He smiled while my sobbing stopped.

"So," he said after a while. "You lost your mom?"

I looked down. "Yes. Lung Cancer. Three years-"
I started to sob again, making me not able to finish my sentence. Jason pulled his wing closer to him, making me shift. My face now rests on Jason's neck, my tears wetting his coat.

"Lemme tell you a story." He said. "I was adopted, you know. My parents were young, and they weren't ready for me, so they gave me to this adoption center. I was soon adopted by a loving family who was willing to accept me as their own. As I grew up, though, I never forgave my parents for giving me up."

I looked up, seeing he was looking straight ahead, probably deep in thought.

"When I went to college, I got curious. I digged into my parents to see they were married and had no children. I went to go meet them, the sins of their past still laying on me, and saw they hated to give me up. I then grew a relationship with my parents, and started to love them."

I smiled, thinking of how nice that would be. A frown then appeared on my tear-stained face.

"Why are you telling me all this?" I asked looking up at him.

He looked down at me, a smile stretching his lips. "Sometimes you need a good story to help with the bad."

I smiled, showing I was happy to what he said. Soon, though, things took a different turn. Our lips drew near, inches apart, my brain screaming kiss the horse!! I could feel his breath, and at that moment, drew in.
