Love is a Four Letter Word
What is true love? This is a question that many have always try to find the definition/meaning of true love. This can be said based on Spike's feelings for Rarity. Whether it be the first time he expressed his love for Rarity when Photo Finish hired Fluttershy to do a photo shoot for her back in season 1 or when he virtually almost destroyed almost all of Ponyville in season 2 because of his greediness, Spike knew that when the time was right, he was gonna eventually make Rarity his wife.

It was Hearts and Hooves Day and Spike had planned to spend the entire day with Rarity and possibly pop the question at the end of the day if he felt the time was right.
"Ok Spike, are you sure you don't need me while you're with Rarity today? Hearts and Hooves Day can be difficult especially for dragons like you." said Twilight.
"Yep. I got this day all plotted out and I'm ready to go." said Spike.
"Ok, I'll be back at around 10." said Twilight, who was headed to Canterlot to spend time with Flash Sentry in Canterlot.
After Twilight left the castle, Spike grabbed his bag and headed over to Carousel Boutique. Once he arrived, Rarity was getting Sweetie Belle ready for what seemed like a date she was going on.
"Have fun Sweetie Belle and remember that getting serious about romance at your age isn't a good idea. It obviously can wait a few years." said Rarity.
"Ok see you later." said Sweetie Belle and she left.
Right after Sweetie Belle left, Rarity turned and saw Spike waiting at the front door.
"Happy Hearts and Hooves Day Rarity." said Spike.
"Oh Spikey Wikey! Thanks for coming! You're really someone I can count on to be with on such a special day like this." said Rarity.
"I got you something my special mare." said Spike as he pulled out a small box out of his bag.
Rarity opened the box and saw a heart-shaped gem.
"Thank you Spikey Wikey! How did you know I was hoping you would get me this on Hearts and Hooves Day?" asked Rarity.
"I don't know, random guess?" said Spike with an awkward grin on his face.
Rarity then grabbed an extra chair for Spike to sit on.
"Rarity, I have to tell you something I've wanted to tell you ever since Twilight and I met you for the first time while we were helping in the preparation for the Summer Sun Celebration a few years back." said Spike.
"Go right ahead and tell me anything you want to say Spikey Wikey." said Rarity.
"Ok here I go. Rarity, I love you more than anything in this world. Ever since I laid my eye on you I knew that we were meant to be together. I've learned so much from you through all we've been through and I couldn't have been more fortunate to have you as a friend. I would do anything for you because you're worth it. There is no one else in this world I would rather call mine. Whenever I see you, you make me fill with joy because you're the most generous and warm-hearted pony I've ever met." said Spike.
"Oh Spikey Wikey. I knew you would eventually say that to me because I feel the same exact way about you." said Rarity with tears running down her face.
"I also have a question I've wanted to ask you ever since I first met you." said Spike.
"Go right ahead Spikey Wikey." said Rarity
Spike then took another box out of his bag and got down on one knee. Tears then started running quicker down Rarity's face because she knew what Spike's next question was.
"Rarity, the most beautiful creature on the face of the earth, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to ask you, will you marry me?" asked Spike with tears running down his face.
"YES!" said Rarity and she started crying tears of joy.
Spike and Rarity then kissed for about 10 minutes straight.
"Spike, I knew that today was gonna be the day that you popped the question. I'm really looking forward to spending the rest of eternity with you." said Rarity.
"Until tomorrow, my best mare." said Spike and he walked back to Twilight's castle knowing that the burden was lifted off his tiny dragon shoulders and he and Rarity were getting married sometime in the near future.
