> My Dear Fluttershy > by Junster00741 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Part 1: The Encounter > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Mare Name Fluttershy 4/13/2013-4/27/2013 by Junster00741 Intro Before it all started, before I ever came to this magical and wonderful place, before I ever met her and her wonderful friends, before I made friends, before I ever had a life, before I devoted myself to her and my family, before I became strong, before I became bold, before I became naive, before I became powerful, before I was ever a some pony, before I ever became a father, before I ever became a king, before I ever became a ruler, before I ever had someone that cared for me, before I ever gained a daughter, before I ever saved lives, before I stood up for those I cared for, before I had emotions, before I wasn’t alone, before I killed many...I was so different. As I look back to it all, I can’t i’ve had my regrets but they made me into this being that could move mountains, crush just about anything, surpass my limits and go beyond, take the hits for many and still fight, talk to anyone and anything, understand everyone, fight for my beliefs, fight for my loved ones, fight for the right thing that I think is right, fight for my dearest dear, fight for my sons, daughters, friends, and anyone else that was important to me. I fought for all of them, through thick and thin but...I have had my failures...So many of them but through those failures I became strong, I became the protector everyone wanted me to be. My greatest failure however, was the loss of the most important out of all them. Out of the whole family, she mattered to me the most and I would take the hit for my family but i’d never leave her side while doing so. Even when it seemed impossible I found a way to save her, and the other, even if it got me hurt I still saved them both. Letting take the hit is unacceptable...Though she did twice, and they were just about the hardest things I’ve ever seen. I can’t even write it down now cause it’s too hard but I will tell you my story, the story of the Protector of Equestria! Part 1: The Encounter It all started on a rainy day, the clouds were all over my area and pouring down rain while booming its lightening with all its might. All the animals have taken shelter under rocks, logs, bushes, caves and some tree holes. As for me, I walked through it all without a care in the world. The place I stayed in was a forest long abandoned by society but every once in a while a stranger would come by lost but soon find their way out. I normally stay away from them since I have a burning hatred for them but I sometimes get a kick out of it to watch them wonder about in confusion and scare them off by making a bear noise. That was my only way of entertainment really, the only way I could ever get a smile out of myself in order keep myself from going completely insane. I was crazy but not the psychopath insane where I wanted to go out and murder just about anything...Well not at that time to say the least. Anyway... Along the way I stopped a few times as I kept on hearing something, it was nothing at first, oh so I thought it was but I just shrugged it off and joked about how I was actually going insane, didn’t make me laugh though... After the fourth or fifth time I got suspicious and stopped suddenly and spun around wildly with a rusty knife in my hand. The knife belonged to my brother who passed away long ago, I was an orphan my whole life and I had little trust with people. I didn’t live the best life but what does a guy walking in the rain in the middle of a storm holding a rusty knife tell you? To make it short and brief my mom, dad, brother and sister died when I was young, My parents died from a car crash when I was 2, I don’t remember any of it but I was still pretty young to be honest, even though it's been many years...I still think they got what they deserved. As for my brother he died when I was 6, he was sick at the time and we didn’t have much money for medicine but a kind doctor took him in. He told us he was going to make it but just before he left, the night before he was able to leave, my brother had a heart attack... It happened when everyone was asleep and the hospital was closed, no one knew until the very next morning when he wouldn’t get up. A few days before it happened my brother gave his knife and told me to only use if I need to protect myself, it was strange though, it was like he knew this was going to happen. My sister and I were excited to get him that day but when we saw the blanket over him we demanded an explanation. They only said they didn’t know when they came in but I told them off and tried to stab one of the doctors with a scalpel but my sister pulled me out immediately. We swore to never go back there but not too long after, perhaps about 2-3 months later, my sister grew very ill and we had no choice but to return. When we came in we were lucky that the doctor who cared for my brother was still kind to us and took my sister in. They ran some test to determine her problem but when we were told of her problem...Well all I can say is I wanted to reach for another scalpel and drive into that man’s throat. My sister held me back however and nodded to the doctor as he left to give us a moment. We sat there for who knows how long but it felt like forever, we knew we couldn’t be taken care of here so we did what we could and thanked the hospital and left. We were out on the streets and made what time we had left not go to waste. I never left her side and as the days went on, she grew weaker however. It got to the point where she couldn’t stand up anymore and I had to basically carry her around. I was too small unfortunately but I did what I could to make it easy on her. During her final days we hid under some family’s basement, it was winter time so we didn’t have any means of keeping warm. I would go in and out of the basement to steal some food for my sister since she was too weak. When we were discovered they saw how weak my sister looked, they questioned why we were here and I explained everything. I knew we were in a lot of trouble but I didn’t care. Ironically the family understood our pain and left us in peace, they allowed me to stay after the would snow clear up. I was relieved but when my sister passed away, I became distant and aggressive with the family. They did the best they could with me, they even offered me to stay with them but I declined and told them I’m just a waste of space. They buried my sister when she passed away, they placed her in grave where apparently my brother was buried at. I have no idea, even to this day how they found that out but I left it be and once winter was over, I thanked them and was back on the streets. Years went on by and I was alone for those long and gruesome years, I learned many things, things that you wouldn’t really want to learn but I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. After a few more hard years I came across this house in the forest that I walk today and here I stand with my brother’s rusty knife in hand waiting for whatever it is I keep hearing to pounce out and charge after me but instead of that I got something completely different. It was yellow with a pink mane and tail with a strange tattoo on its rump, its eyes were a light gentle sky blue but at the moment they were scanning the whole area frantically. When they saw me they froze for a moment and suddenly the strange creature ran over to me and hid behind in fear. I was utterly confused on what was going on, honestly wouldn’t you think i’d slashed at it? The little creature was too fast for me to get a good look at but it wasn’t human for sure, I wasn’t even sure if it was an animal. A familiar bark was heard that snapped me out of my confusion as I looked up to see a wounded black wolf looking me right in the eyes, it's teeth showing ready to bite. I couldn’t make out much from the distance we had between ourselves, not to mention the rain too. I could however see it wasn’t in the best shape to go looking for a fight, its bark was also dried out and frail. I frowned at its sight but readied myself, “I’ll make it quick...” I whisper to the creature behind me quietly. Without hesitating the wolf charged after me, leaping high up opening it's mouth showing more its fangs. A scream was heard from behind me that made me freeze for a moment as I wondered who else was here but I stayed focused and caught the wolf mid air and pinned it down. I struggled to keep it down as I readied my knife and plunged it into the wolf’s neck a few times. It still managed put up a fight but after the 5th stab it went limp before giving a final whimper. My heart was still racing but was settling now, I looked over to see who else was here but surprisingly no was to be seen within miles of the forest. I turned back to the creature and stared at it in confusion, “...Were you the one who screamed when the wolf tried to pounce me?” I questioned, wondering if it could understand me. The creature nodded its head, “T-thank you for saving me...” it whispered quietly, its voice shaky yet feminine but light and gentle. My eyes widened as I heard it's voice, “Y-You understood me?” I asked taking a step back, “Um...Can you say something else?” The creature only raised a brow at my reaction, almost as if it should’ve been obvious it could speak but how many animals do you see speaking human, “...Um what would you like me to say?” she wondered looking nervous now. I nearly fell back when it spoke again, “Woah...You’re actually speaking...” I blinked a few times and smacked myself to see if this was real, I then came closer to the yellow creature and touched its cheek nervously. My eyes widened as I felt its warm and soft coat brushing against my skin, “You feel real...” I began touching and pulling its whole body, “You look somewhat real too...What are you?” I questioned. “Haha...Can you please stop?” begged the creature, “I can’t take much more.” she began to giggle lightly as wings unfolded from its back and flapped wildly, “Please stop!” she cried as she began to laugh. I did what she said and backed up, giving this creature who I assume is a female some space, “Um...Sorry about that ma’am...” I say quietly as I began to blush realizing I was touching a girl, “You’re not hurt right?” I ask trying to gather my bearings. She settled before examining herself to be clarify, “Um...No.” she confirmed, “I don't think i’m hurt, just scared mostly...” I nodded my head and sighed in relief as I put away my knife, “Well that’s good hear,“ I said to myself before facing her, “Can you tell me your name?” The female creature nodded her head but took a few deep breaths to settle herself some more, “My name is Fluttershy,” she said in a formally and shy fashion, “I am a pegasus mare from Ponyville.” she stopped there and out of nowhere turned red and looked away, “Um...S-so what’s your name?” she wondered quietly. I wanted to comment on her name but as I watched her in confusion I for some reason smiled on how she acted, “Well...To be honest I don’t really have a name.” she looked back at me in shock, “I mean, I must’ve had a name but from what I can remember I was always called little bro. I know for a fact we’re not friends but um...How does Mister sound, is that good enough for you?” The way she looked at me, with disbelief and shock, was rather adorable to be honest. So he doesn’t have a name, she thought to herself before she spoke, “Well...I guess I can call you Mister. If that’s ok with you...” her redness showed some more and instead of looking away she made some type noise that went by a SQUEE. The way she looked at me was too adorable but that noise, was by far the most adorable that I have ever heard, at the time that is, “Um...Yeah, that’s fine.” I say as I try to hide my giggles, “So...Do you need any help getting out of here, I don’t mind showing you the way out so you can find your way back to where ever you came from.” Fluttershy still seemed confused on where she was at, “To be honest, I thought this was the Everfree Forest but after seeing that monster I have no idea where in the world of Celestia i’m at...” Everfree Forest, what type of name is that and who is this Celestia? “So you’re lost huh?” I questioned before shrugging my shoulders, “Eh no problem, you can stay with me for the time being. I don’t live very far from here and i’m sure someone will come looking for you. You do have friends right?” The question seem to somehow offend her but she didn’t show much of it, though looking at it now I can see how that would offend somehow but back to the story, “Well...I guess if you’re ok with it I don’t mind staying with you...” I could remember the hesitant look she had but with how she was back then, it doesn’t surprise me. I smiled and helped her over to my back, “Great, hold on tight!” I say as I dart back to my house, it was still raining when this all happened and the last thing I would want is her getting sick. As I ran I wondered why she came here, to a world like this and meet a person like me. I had so many questions but part me wanted to give her some space and I did. If I had known Fluttershy was the reason of everything who knows how things would’ve turned out, maybe I would be here right now... Sorry i’m getting ahead of myself haha. > Part 2: New Bonds Form > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- During the first week of staying Fluttershy and I we didn't really say much to each other. I know at first we said a few things and had a simple talk but after that was just awkward silence. Part of the reason is that I don’t really talk much, i’m sure the other reason is I’ve gone insane and hallucinated this creature so my mind could fill in that once empty void I had long ago. Though there was this one time however, where she did try to get to talk about myself but I just brushed it off and told her I wanted to nap. She did sound upset as she left my side but I was different back then and glad I am who I am now. It was early in the morning, I was in bed at the time just waking up from my sleep. I was a bit groggy and stiff but a simple stretch can do wonders. I got up and went downstairs to find Fluttershy cleaning a few things up, it was a nice thing to see this since my house is a complete and utter dump but at the same time I felt bad cause she was doing something I should be doing. She was humming some lullaby as she did her work, wasn’t much really but enough to put me in a trance as I watched. She was flying about from one side to the other, doing a few spins and loops and such in the process. It was absolutely amazing how her voice was, so light, gentle, kind, and soft. The voice of an angel, to put it simply... By the time she noticed me she actually ran into the wall and fell back a bit dazed. I was still in a trance but snapped out of it when I heard her hit the floor. I rushed over to her side and checked to see if anything was broken, I only found a minor bruise on her head but nothing serious. Her moans of pain were rather adorable to be honest but it doesn’t mean I liked seeing her in pain. Once she settled she stood up and rubbed the bump that formed on her head. “Well...That was some song you were humming...” I muttered quietly as I watched her carefully, “Can you tell me what that song was?” I asked. Fluttershy at first was too busy with her bump but she responded not too long after , “I-it was a song my mother used to sing to me when I was scared. I was a pretty shy filly so she sang it enough times I remember it to this day and as you heard...Sing it here and there.” her face began to blush as she continued, “My mother also knew when to sing it too, sometimes she would catch me off guard when she sings but it always calms me down...I actually still hear her voice when I feel sad, just her singing that gentle lullaby while either holding or looking for me...” Fluttershy shook her head and put on a not so convincing smile, “Sorry, i’m sure that might’ve sounded weird.” I shook my head, “Not at all,” I said with a light smile, “it’s actually rather cute...” I of course was blushing now, “What about your father?” I asked, “How was he? Was he caring like your mother...Did he sing you lullabies?” Fluttershy was somewhat hesitant in answering my question for some reason, “He...Well my father was like any father.” she said with a seemingly gentle smile now, “Hard working and a little rough at times...Just a little.” she went silent afterwards and stared at the wall for a good minute or two. It was like she was out in a trance herself but almost like she was reliving something... I wasn’t sure how to approach this considering I haven’t talked to a living being in who knows how long, “Well...Your father sounds like a good man I guess.” Fluttershy nodded once and continued to stare at the wall, her eyes quickly shifting left and right and pupils getting smaller and smaller. I placed my hand over her shoulder and gave her a gentle nudge, “You alright?” I ask with slight concern in my voice, “You all there?” She snapped out of it and for a moment forgot where was at but when she saw me she settled, “S-sorry...” she mumbled quietly, “I uh...Just remembered something long ago.” she shifted her gaze back to the ground, “Its not important so don’t worry...” she whispered lightly. I raised a brow obviously seeing something was wrong but I didn’t ask since we don’t know each other that well. I simply nodded and helped her up, along the way I whispered back, “Don’t be a afraid to tell me.” I then walked over to the kitchen and pulled out some carrots and apples. If I had some lettuce I’d be able to make us a simple salad but sadly the ones I had gone bad so I threw them out. I cut the food I had into little pieces and divided them into two bowls for Fluttershy and I. I gave Fluttershy a little extra since I wasn’t the biggest on eating but I don’t hesitate on eating what is offered to me...Unless I know it’s bad which comes in handy when you've lived on the street for your whole life. Once I handed her bowl and sat down with mine we ate while staring out the window and watched the clouds pass by. It was a pretty calm day so we decided to go for a little walk. This would be the first time I ever had someone join me in a walk and in all honesty, I was pretty damn nervous. The moment we stepped out my anxiety shot up and I needed a moment to gather my strength before stepping off my house. Afterwards it was just one step at a time, Fluttershy fared far better than I did but i’m sure she was getting a kick out of me with my awkwardness. At least it provided some type of entertainment for her, for all I know I could’ve gone big in the clown industry. I settled after the first hour thankfully and it was smooth sailing along the way, funny thing was I forgot where we were walking and it ended with us searching for my house for two hours. By the time we found my house it was night time and the nightly critters were just starting to come out. Fluttershy wanted to see them since the way I talked about them seemed to interest her but I'm sure it's a bad idea to be out in the dark in the woods where anything can happen. Once inside we were back in the kitchen again and I was making whatever I could for dinner. It was veggie stew and randomly enough, Fluttershy seemed to enjoy it more than me since I could barely scarf it down myself. She ended up having extra for the night but I had a few apples for myself to excuse the stew, funny enough she ate the whole thing and left the bowl clean dry. Strange for a mare of her stature. “Do you want desserts?” I questioned sarcastically, “Cause if you do...Well we’re out.” Fluttershy was about to respond but out of nowhere she let out the loudest belch I ever heard, it nearly shook the whole house and nearly made me roll over with laughter. “Ugh..N-no thanks.” she groaned, laughing along though from the looks of it she might’ve eaten too much. As for me I could barely keep my chuckling at a minimal. “Talk about manners.” I utter before bursting into laughter, “Oh god my stomach!” I cried as I clutched it and rolled on the ground for a good few minutes. The entire time I gave Fluttershy a mild scare but after she realized I was just laughing she joined along. Once that was settled we sat back down and just sat there with happy smiles. “So...How did you like the walk?” I asked out of the blue, “Was it um...Alright?” my body began to tremble for some strange reason from my question, my throat was nearly dry also. It actually scared me a little with how my body was acting. Fluttershy didn’t seem to notice it but she responded in a lighter and more peaceful tone, “It was pretty fun, the forest isn’t so scary when you have a friend with you.” she explained happily, “I’m almost jealous with how your forest is compared to my forest back home. yours is so much more...Natural and going with the flow while mine is...Well the same but...” she began to fumbling a few words around, trying to find a good way to explain her experience. “I really can’t explain it but it was just nice. No not nice, wonderful!” her face began to brighten up, along with a light blush, “Thank you for showing me though, I really appreciated it.” “Friend...” I repeated to myself, “I’ve never been called friend before.” I shook my head and focused on Fluttershy, “Well I'm glad you enjoyed it and I’m sure we’ll have many more walks to come...At least I hope.” Once more my face began to burn up, “U-um...You wouldn’t mind going on another walk tomorrow, would you?” What’s wrong with me, I screamed in my mind, why are you acting like this!? “I’d love to go.” she replied kindly, “I’m sure it’ll be more fun next time!” My face lit up with excitement but moments later I yawned and realized it was past midnight, “Heh...Maybe we should go to bed.” I suggested, “You sure don’t want to sleep in one of the rooms I got? It’s really no problem and it’s far better than a conch.” I smiled somewhat nervously, hoping she would say yes since she’s been complaining a bit about her back and how the couch is a little lumpy. Her familiar shy face returned when I asked, “Well...If you’re really sure about it then ok,” she agreed, “I’ll take one of your rooms.” I gladly nodded and took her upstairs then gave her the room closest to mine, luckily for her it was the second largest and the most clean out of the other rooms. It’s not that I didn’t have a reason to clear, I just never had anyone over until Fluttershy came haha. “So what do you think?” I ask, opening the door and letting her walk in, “Do you like it?” Fluttershy looked around and seemed more at home with this room, probably with its faded forest colors, kind of ironic when you think about it. Fluttershy is some type of hippie and the room I so happen to have for her is a forest themed room. Almost like it was meant to be actually... “Wow...This all looks amazing!” she gasped in awe from the little butterflies and deer hiding in the background, “It's so beautiful, I can’t believe you’re letting me stay in this room!” As she spoke I pulled out some clean pillows and blankets and set the bed while she studied the theme and giggled when she would see the deer and butterflies, “Well it was by far the cleanest so consider yourself lucky.” I laughed happily before getting her settled in bed, was a little awkward since I had to tuck her in and such, “You all good now?” I ask calmly with a peaceful expression, “Anything I can get you?” Fluttershy shook her head, “I think that’s enough for today and my back is already feeling better. Thank you.” she yawned tiredly as she snuggled into her blanket, “Goodnight Mister...” “Goodnight Fluttershy...” I walked out quietly and opened the door to the my room. I then stripped into my shorts and shirt and plopped face first into my bed and rolled around before finding my comfy spot. I then stared out the window to my left and looked at the moon, it's funny I would do this from time to time. At first I did it every night since the moon was so bright in the sky, I did not however enjoy the sun since it was too bright and at warm days, too hot. I prefer cold since I have a warm body but luckily the area I live in is pretty cold and even more luckily, I have Fluttershy with me now and well...I can’t imagine it getting any better. > Part 3: You'll Never Be Alone With Me > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s been over a year now since I met Fluttershy and just yesterday she declared that she’s given up on her friends coming for her. The news was hard to accept for her and I because she was so determined on her friends but as the months went on that hope began to fade. She’s distant now, almost lifeless but her kindness still remains and is fighting hard. The same day she gave the news she asked what it felt like to be alone not long after, I wanted to smack her for even considering the question. But, I could never hurt her, maybe when we first met but not now, not when she’s in pain. Not when she’s living my life right now. I told her it was a horrible experience, possibly the worst thing you could ever go through. You have no one to hold onto, no one to talk to, it’s just you. You only have yourself to blame, to hold up, to fight for and to cry with. Everyday you wonder why you live in the hell that is life. A shell forms over time, a shell that hides you from the world and cuts you off from just about everything. I thought it was impossible to ever come out of it but when Fluttershy came the surface of my thick shell cracked. It continued throughout the year and i’m finally seeing some light but as I peek through the small holes I only see a sad mare wallowing in despair. It was late in the afternoon, Fluttershy and I were watching the sun’s last moments before the moons rises up to shine our paths for this night. We were up on a small hill leaning against a tree that was actually behind my house. I usually came here to wallow in my despair or just watch the day pass by, it’s nice to finally have someone with me to share this but not in these circumstances. We didn’t really say much but I wanted to get her to at least smile a little, “I wonder when winter will come.” I wondered as I turned to Fluttershy. “Well it’s mid summer so hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait.” mumbled Fluttershy quietly as she continued to stare out into the distance, hardly moving in the slightest. I was silent for a moment, “Um yeah...I hope so too because I love the cold.” “I don’t like it,” she said, “I’m always cold and need someone warm to hold onto.” “Well I don’t mind holding you if you’re cold, last thing I want is for you getting sick. You’re even colder and you’re snotty and coughy and bleh, just not good.” “Hmm hmm...You’re weird.” she smiled faintly, “But thank you for the kindness.” My body lit up with a bit of joy, “If I’m weird then is a talking mythical horse normal?” we chuckled at my remark, “And...You may be alone right now but I’m here for you.” She nodded in response, “...Would it be ok if you hold me right now?” Our faced blushed somehow in sink, “Um...Y-yeah, sure no problem.” Fluttershy awkwardly huddled over to me and buried her face in my chest as I gently held her. She started to quietly cry soon after, “Thank you for being here.” she said, “I know this must be scaring you but i’m really trying my best. I just don’t know what to do now, where do I go now? How am I supposed to survive in a world that’s not meant for me?” her body trembled as she continued, when she finally took a moment to breath the moon was just at its peak. The entire time I never let go, my shirt was soaking wet from tears and snot but I didn’t care much for that. “Did you get it all out?” I questioned, Fluttershy shrugged her shoulders, “Well if you did I want to tell you that I’m here for you. If you need me to hold you again I will, I don’t care what happens between us but you can tell me anything. A being like you doesn’t deserve this pain, the pain I went through myself, the pain that is my life but when you came a light appeared. A light that I never seen before and it's warms and fuzzy. That light is you Fluttershy, throughout the year we’ve spent you nearly brought me out of my shell that formed when I was very young. No matter what I will not let that light fade, I will follow it to the ends of earth if I have to because I never want to return to that shell of mine where it’s cold and dark. I want to live in this light Fluttershy, I want t live in it with you...” I spoke from my heart, all that was said was true, not one word was made up and when I pulled back I saw that faint smile but much stronger now. “Thank you...Thank you so much!” she pulled me back in and held me tightly, “You can’t imagine how I feel to hear all that.” I smiled warmly from her response, “I should be thanking you My Dear Fluttershy. I’m lucky to have ever met a being such as you.” Not too long after we went back inside, had a late dinner and called it a night. Fluttershy still kept her smile the whole time and I even offered her to sleep with me. This was the start of a new chapter in not only my life, but in both our lives and I was overjoyed to have her, My Dear Fluttershy, by my side the whole time. > Part 4: Christmas Celebration > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have My Dear Fluttershy. When I look back at the 5 years we’ve spent together I almost consider this whole thing a marriage but problem is I’m human and she’s a mythical animal from another world. I have wondered if I should ever make a move but there’s that second thought of what if she isn’t into me that way. I’ve developed these feelings three years ago, it happened when we were asleep. I woke up with my heart pounding and had a strong urge to kiss her but I resisted and forced myself back to sleep. The following morning wasn’t easy, any time she would so much as look at me I would panic and tell her I need a moment while hurrying into the bathroom. There I would gather my bearings to face her but that only lasted a minute or two. I’ve gotten better now but those were some rough few weeks. It was winter now and raining actually, Fluttershy and I were in the living room doing small talk while waiting for the rain to settle. However, it just began so that won’t be for a while now. As we talked I held her closely, just like I said 5 years ago under that tree when the moon was out. It was Christmas day and I had something special planned for Fluttershy. Every year on this day a light show opens in some town West of the forest. I usually go there to watch the lights, I actually went there once with my brother and sister before they died. We had a great time and I went the next following years to that light show to remember the good old days. I stopped going sadly because of Fluttershy, I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off but I’d figured I would wing it with her. The plan was simple from what I could come with. I would dress her up in one of my hoodies and carry her like a child as we walked about in the area. The only problem I could have is the occasional street people starting trouble. They’re your typical gang full of people who think they’re better than everyone. I actually know their leader pretty well, back when I was a teenage orphan he would pass me up and beg me to hide him from the cops. Of course at the time I had no idea what gangs were but I helped him out and hid him while some cops came looking for him. They would ask if I’ve seen a man with bags of money and I would shake my head and they’d be on their way. When the coast was clear he’d appear and say, “Thanks amigo.” while handing me a green brick. I’d take the brick and simply nod as I took my leave. This happened pretty often to be honest, it was like we were meant to keep running into each other like this. It did stop however when I found this house, we only saw each other in that light show but usually his gang would be trying to cause trouble. It’s one of the main reasons why I avoid them. The rain finally stopped and that was our cue to get ready. We hurried along, cutting through the forest with a few short cuts. When we came into the highway bridge Fluttershy threw on the hoodie and made sure she was completely covered before proceeding. As we came up to the road I check to see if anyone was around but luckily no cars were in sight. I wasted no time as I carried Fluttershy through the bridge and into the city where in the center of it was the light show. As we made our way I acted as causal as I could be when passing by the crowds and people. Along the way a lady handed us a small box of cookies for the celebration, I gave them to Fluttershy as I continued since I wasn’t in the mood for sweets. When we got to Town Plaza I let Fluttershy take a peak. The moment she did she nearly dropped her jaw but even it was frozen in awe. I smiled at the face she had on, the face of absolute and stunning awe. I remember having that same exact face, it brought many good memories seeing it. “So what do you think, pretty amazing isn’t it?” Fluttershy was nearly at a loss of words, “It’s so beautiful, I’ve never seen anything like it, not even in my world! The decorations of streamers, balloons, flags, station tents and everything else is absolutely breath taking and the Christmas Tree...I’ve never see one touch the sky like this one, not even Canterlot can compete with this!” I chuckled at her rant, “Well wait until the end, the light show is pretty amazing.” I looked around for a brief moment for the foods section, once I spotted it I quickly hurried over and had Fluttershy try almost all the foods but we stayed away from the meats. I remember clearly of her vegan culture and I wouldn’t dare let her so much as have her see a pig’s rump as a food choice! As we got some cotton candy I checked for any street people but everything seemed normal, for now at least. After some gooey candy we treated ourselves to some soda that seemed too much for Fluttershy’s system. Moments after we left Fluttershy was all jittery and spazzy, I could barely hold her still as I tried to not to make a scene out of it in the process. She thankfully crashed a few minutes after then she got a headache and I can’t imagine what the medicine we use would do to her. I took her to a quiet area to let her rest up for a bit, it didn’t take long for me to find a simple alley that had only one exit. It was pretty lit up surprisingly, normally the alleys I’ve seen are dark and full of litter and such but not this one. Quite strange honestly, I guess I've been around trash for so long it’s usually the first thing I’d expect. Though i’m not perfect so I shouldn’t make a big deal out of it. I pressed my back against one of the walls and slowly sank to the ground, letting my legs rest and my mind unwind from being around so many people. It was nice, I could actually fall asleep here if I wanted to but not with Fluttershy, I'd rather have her in a safe location because anything happen in these places if you’re not prepared. As we gather our bearings I heard a familiar voice, “Long time no see...Amigo.” My eyes were wide open now, “Why did he have to come now, everything was going so well but now he’s here!” My heart began to race as I turned to see his tan face with a rugged 5 o’clock shadow. His hair was a mess of grease while his teeth fared no better with green and yellow decay. He stared at me with his hazel like eyes, waiting for me to say something. I slowly pushed my up and held Fluttershy closely, “H-hey...How’s it been?” I ask, trying be as calm as I could be. “I’ve been good,” he replied, coming closer to me, “I haven’t seen you for a very long time.” God I forgot how horrible his accent was, just made me want to blow out my eardrums, “Yeah it’s been a while...Nothing’s changed really.” I back away as he came closer, “How’s the gang?” I asked. “Gang has been good,” he explained, “they miss you ya know. You got us all out of a lot of fixes and we’ve needed you for many others but, you weren’t around...Why is that?” he flashed a gun on his side as he stopped and leaned against a wall. He had a smirk at the start but now it was a hateful and questionable glare. “What’s going on?” whispered Fluttershy, “Who’s here?” I shushed her immediately and looked back at the leaning gang leader, “I’ve been busy...” I answer vaguely. “Busy with what?” he wondered. “Does it really concern you even though we don’t know our own names?” I argued. He remained silent for a moment before eyeing what was in my arms, “What you got in there, a lost puppy, a sick cat?” he wondered, “You always had a soft spot for animals and you had that magic touch with them. Wish I had it but everyone has their blessings.” “It’s neither,” I reply, “it’s an orphan and she’s very sick. She doesn’t have long and I’m granting her wish. To see the light and I plan to make that wish come true.” He stared at me with wide eyes but soon smiled, “Heh...Even got a soft spot for kids...” he said with envy, “You’ll be a good father someday Amigo.” he pushed himself off the wall and walked over to me, “A father needs to protect their children, the world is dangerous so take this and do what you think is right.” he slipped his gun into my pocket and patted my back, “Merry Christmas Amigo, make sure you get to the show quickly! It’s about to start and if you don’t make that wish come true I’ll go looking for you!” he made his leave, giving me the peace sign before disappearing amongst the crowds. I let out a sigh of relief as I put Fluttershy down, “Thank god he’s gone...” I mutter as I catch my breath, “You alright Fluttershy?” “Yes,” she replied, “I’m fine but who was he and the dying orphan?” I chuckled at her innocence, “Well one I have no idea what his name is but he’s a gang leader and two, the orphan was you.” I pushed myself up and stretched my tense muscles. Fluttershy seemed confused, “Wait...I’m not dying so why did you say that?” I stared at her with a raise brow, “I was scared he was going to hurt us,” I pulled out the gun he gave me, “this can kill you in one shot but you need to know how to use it.” Just like any animal would Fluttershy tensed up at the sight of it, “Y-you don’t know h-how to use that...R-right?” I frowned at her reaction, “I do actually but I was shown how to use, I never killed anyone but if it were a life or death matter I wouldn’t hesitate on pulling the trigger.” Fluttershy looked horrified, “You would kill to protect me, can’t you find another way to solve it?” I stared into her eyes for a moment in silence, “Remember when we first met I killed that wolf in order to save you, I’ll do it again if I have to. You’re too important to me and I want you to live on.” My heart began to race, “Like what that man said, I need to do what I think is right and killing is one of them, I won’t hesitate. If someone were to lay a single finger or hoof on you in any violent matter I’d pry it off and kill em. I’ve lost too much in this world and I won’t lose you no-” Fluttershy placed her hoof on my mouth to stop me, she was trembling now and in tears. “I get it,” she said with a shaky voice, “you don’t have to say anymore, I get it.” she let her hoof down and slowly sink to the floor, “I’m scared,” she said under her tears, “I’m actually touched also, I never imagined I meant this much to you.” I watched quietly and listened as I smiled, “I love you Fluttershy, I love you so much.” She suddenly pounced me and buried her sobbing face into my chest, “I love you too,” she said with a shaky voice, “I love you too...” I felt warm hearing those words as I stood up with Fluttershy in my arms, “Come on...Let’s go see that light show.” I say as I carry her back into the crowds where I made my way to the center where it all began. It was as I remembered, the lights went dark as a man in red with a jolly belly lit up the whole area. He was getting on his slay of magical flying deer that circled the area before stopping at a rooftop where he hopped off with his large bag of goodies. He would then slide down the chimney and walk over to the tree where he’d lay out his gift but before he would tend to cookies and milk. After having his fill he’d lay out a few wrapped boxes that would be picked up by a child that was handed to the parents. They would open it up only to have the box burst open with it saying, “Merry Christmas To You All!” with the jolly red man giving a ho ho ho. The lights dimmed but soon came up and the people cheered and clapped before taking their leave. Fluttershy and I were one of the last to leave since we still had so much to see. Fluttershy was beyond amazed, I remember the face she had clearly. Wide eyes, open mouth of awe and absolute and utter speechlessness. When it ended she could hardly believe what she saw but it sure made her smile very happily. When we got back Fluttershy was long asleep while I was carefully removing her hoodie and taking her to our room. There I laid her down gently before stripping down to shirt and shorts and of course boxers. I carefully climbed in and snuggled closely to her before holding her lovingly to keep her warm. I stared at her resting face as I drifted off but before I did I gave her a long lasting kiss. “Merry Christmas Fluttershy, I love you.” Fluttershy smiled, “Merry Christmas, I love you too.” My eyes widened as my faced turned dark red. > Part 5: Old Friends and Emotions > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I woke up a man in white stood by my side, his eyes calm and welcoming, same goes for his expression and body language. He looked almost the same but his skin was covered in thousands of wrinkles, not to mention the gray hairs on his scalp. The years have been good to him from what i’m getting, i’m actually surprised he’s still working, he should be in his 60s by now! “Doctor Regimen...” I utter weakly as I began to smile, “How ironic...” He smiled seeing that I still remember him despite the long gap in years, “Afternoon.” he greeted simply, “And what have you gotten yourself into now?” he wondered with a sarcastic smirk, “Last time I ever saw you you were just a mere child and now look at you! On deaths row!” he cried before chuckling, “It’s good to see you’ve pulled through...” his face softened a bit but his smirk was now a smile, “My my...Such time has passed young lad, so much has changed. I see you made a very interesting friend during your time.” he looked up and motioned for someone to come up. I heard her hooves to the left, I turned my head to face her, “Fluttershy...” I say weakly but with great joy, “You’re here!” She was blurry in the distance but as she came closer I noticed she was in plain sight, “Where...Where’s your hoodie?” I remember explaining to her that she couldn’t be seen in public without a hoodie. My heart began to face as I realized Doctor Regimen was here and Fluttershy wasn’t concealed. “You’re surprised aren’t you?” she wondered, making my mind freeze up and listen to her last possible words, “...I’m sorry.” she muttered quietly as tears trailed down her face, “I wish I could’ve done something, I just watched them tear you apart...” Doctor Regimen came to her aid and knelt down before whispering something to her ear. Fluttershy nodded and quickly settled down before speaking, “I’m glad you’re still alive though, “ she said with immense relief in her eyes, “because if I lost you...I don’t know what I’d do with myself.” she leaned in and kissed my forehead, “Thank you for protecting me...” she said lastly as she pulled away. I wasn’t sure how to feel anymore, one minute I was scared beyond belief but now...Now I feel warm and relieved, my body was still in a world of pain but her words touched me deeply. I began to smile now but as I was about to speak lightening boomed in the background, causing both Fluttershy and I to jump while Doctor Regimen only laughed. “Talk about a mood breaker.” he said jokingly, “Why don’t you explain what happened Miss Shy.” he insisted, “I’m sure he needs an explanation on why you’re not hiding.” he grabbed a chart and went to the back side of the room to give us some privacy. Fluttershy and I watched him for a moment before speaking, “He’s a nice man.” said Fluttershy, “If he didn’t recognize you you might’ve not made it...” “What happened?” I thought to myself as I couldn’t for the life of me and even to this day not remember a thing, all I could get was screams of horror. I groaned quietly not being able to remember, “Can you tell me what happened?” I asked Fluttershy kindly, “Why am I here?” Fluttershy seemed surprised but that expression showed more sorrow than shock, “We were attacked,” she began to explain, “by 7 wolves if I remember correctly, it all happened so fast so I might be off but 7 sounds about right. You managed to kill them all somehow but they got you badly as you protected me. Honestly I thought you could hold off one or two but you just kept on swinging and stabbing them.” she paused for a brief moment before continuing, “I tried to talk them out of it, “she said with a cracked tone, “but they ignored me and attacked. Never in my whole life has an animal not listened to me. I was always able to convince them, I could communicate with them on a different level than anypony else but they...They just ignored me and attacked us...They tried to kill us.” I was at a lost for words, all I could do was just raised my hand to her cheek and brush it as lightly as I could. I watched as she broke down but my touch kept her from completely losing it. This continued for possibly minutes but it felt like hours really. The whole time I was still at a lost for words, I wanted to say something, anything to her but all that came out when I opened my mouth was nothing. My anger began to rise as my heart to began to pound with my rage. This was all too much for me to bear and I don’t even remember what happened! I let my hand fall into a fist, my muscles ached horribly just doing it alone but it only made me clench tighter and tighter, letting my anger be taken into the ocean of pain I was in from not being able to speak. I could feel the screams building up but I only clenched my fist tighter and tighter until I was in tears from the pain. My hand soon gave out and released itself, I panted for a moment as I caught my breath and wiped my tears, soon I sighed in relief. I smiled next, “Your friends better let me come with you when they find us.” I said finally, letting out a weak chuckle as I turned to Fluttershy, “Cause if they don’t i’ll kill them.” Fluttershy was rather shocked by my words, did she really think I meant it, “R-really?” she wondered, “You would kill them if they tried to take me away?” “If i’m not coming with you then yes.” I replied with a brighter smile, “Because I love you Fluttershy.” honestly I wasn’t sure what came over me, Fluttershy had the same look of shock on her but soon that expression turned into relief. “I love you too...” she replied quietly, “No one has ever treated me with such love.” I held my smile before realizing something, “You haven’t really told me anything about your friends, what are they like?” I wondered if this was even ok to ask considering my dark humor. Fluttershy simply shook her head with a light hearted giggle, “I’ll tell you about them later but-” lightening boomed all of the sudden, causing the lights to flicker and shake with the rest of the building, “EIEK!” cried Fluttershy as she hit the deck. Doctor Regiment and I laughed quietly at Fluttershy adorableness, “Quiet the storm.” I said simply looking up at the doctor. “Indeed.” he replied delightfully, “I didn’t think she could conjure up something so fierce!” I raised a brown with confusion in my eyes, “What do you mean?” I wondered. Doctor Regimen stared at me with the same expression, “Did you not know she could?” he asked. I shook my head, “How do you know?” I asked now looking suspicious. Despite the large gap of years Doctor Regimen seemed to remember my facial expressions strangely very well. He showed no change though and sighed, “She’s told me a lot about you...” he explained walking over to me but kept at a distance, “During the days of your unconsciousness Flutt-” “Days?” I repeated, stopping him short on his explanation, “How long have I been here?” His expression was still the same and he continued where he left off, “Fluttershy and I talked. When she brought you here you were a bloody mess and Fluttershy was close to collapsing from carrying you nearly 12 miles. Not to mention the storms she’s been creating to keep other doctors from coming in. I had to to watch over every patient for the past week and a half, if you still wish to be mad then at least remember this.” his expression showed rage as his tone deepened and boomed loudly, “IT WAS I WHO WATCHED OVER YOU WHILE TENDING TO FLUTTERSHY AND THIS DAMN HOSPITAL SO IT WOULDN’T KILL YOU SAY THANK YOU!” he took a moment to pull himself together, his face still showed much fury but he was holding back now, soon he sighed and straightened up. “Forgive me...” he said with a grudgeful tone, “I haven’t slept too well so i’m a bit crabby.” he made his way to the door but stopped, “I’m going to check on the other patients. I have a few who need their medicine.” he said, opening and closing the door as he took his leave. I was honestly horrified from his tone, never have I ever seen him so enraged. Normally he’s calm and smiling but this is a first for me to witness his anger. I wanted to cry as I began to feel horrible now remembering how I treated him. He had every right to yell at me, all I’ve ever done was swing a scalpel at him in my own anger. I covered my face to hide my shame from Fluttershy, “I’m a terrible person, “ I muttered to myself, “all you do is cause problems!” My shamed turned into deep regret as I began to relive my whole life, from the start to now I could only burst into tears as my sanity was shattered at this point. I was at my limit, I couldn’t take it anymore and I could only lay there and sob my disgraceful tears. “I should’ve died...” I said under my tears, “Why did I have to be born into this hell hole of a world? All that I have done was spread problems!” I tried to control my breathing as I sobbed harder, “Why am I alive...I’m just a waste of a life!” “That’s not true,” said Fluttershy, taking a stern stance, “If anything you’re not a waste of a life, you’re far too important to be a waste of a life.” “Don’t try to make me feel better.” I pleaded, “Just let me suffer!” “No.” she argued, “You’ve suffered enough, it’s time to start healing.” “But how!?” I wondered hopelessly. Fluttershy came to my side so I could see her face that was smiling, “By forgiving yourself...” she said. > Part 6: Making Amends > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s been nearly two months since I was brought to the hospital by Fluttershy after saving her from a pack of wolves. My recovery is going well, the only draw back is i’m partially crippled now thanks to some nerve damage in my leg. It’s not as bad as you think, I can still walk actually, I just have to use a cane now. It took very little effort to get used to since it’s just a cane but I was greatly saddened to hear the news, Fluttershy also. We both nearly broke down but once I was given my cane I don’t know what took over but I started swinging it like a sword. I’m pretty sure I was in some way trying to cheer up Fluttershy, which I did, but I was just like a kid again swinging that sword/cane around. It did give Doctor Regimen a scare but he soon was smiling as he noticed my joy. The whole moment didn’t last very long but it was a moment we all shared. Doctor Regimen has been somewhat distant with me, he doesn’t try to avoid me or anything, he just stays quiet around me. When I try to get him to speak he just stares at me with a blank face before replying to what I said. I can’t even get him to crack a smirk when I say a joke but i’m pretty sure i’m not gifted in comedy. I would've never expected him to be a grudge holder, though, I did try to kill him when I was little. Maybe i’m overthinking this a bit... Fluttershy’s been faring well in this hospital, she stopped making the storms a week after I woke up since the hospital was running low on medical supplies, plus Doctor Regimen needed to return to his family and rest. She walks about in the hospital with the hoodie I gave her but at night she takes it off and stays with me in my room. I’m honestly surprised no one has gotten curious about her since she's nicknamed, The Hooded Lady. It was daybreak, Fluttershy woke me up since I would be returning home today. I haven’t fully recovered yet but Fluttershy is getting home sick and I’m well enough to walk home. It’s going to be one long walk though, 12 miles from here to my house in the forest. It’ll certainly take us a few hours but we’re up for it. “Do you think we should go say goodbye to Doctor Regimen?” asked Fluttershy. I chuckled considering I had the same thought in mind, “Was going to ask you the same thing.” I replied. We laughed as we finished things up, once we were set Fluttershy threw on her hoodie while I grabbed my cane and we made our way to Doctor Regimen. We found him taking some notes in his office. When we walked in he seemed rather surprised that we were up so early. “Can I help you?” he simply asked. “We’re leaving,” I replied, “but we wanted to say goodbye and thank you before we left.” He seemed concerned about our decision, “Are you sure you’re up for it?” he asked, “It’s an awfully long walk from here to your house.” “We know,” said Fluttershy, “but we have to go sooner or later.” Doctor Regimen was silent as he stared at the both of us before nodding, “Safe travels then.” he said as he returned to his notes, “It was nice seeing you again and meeting your special friend.” A long awkward moment of silence filled the room as no one said a word. All that was heard was the commotion of medical staff in the back who were getting ready for work. I was hoping he would say more but it seemed like that was all. Fluttershy and I quietly turned to the door and took our leave. I placed my hand on the knob but hesitated for a moment. I sighed as I let my hand fall while I turned back to Doctor Regimen, “There’s...One more thing,” I said quietly as I clear my throat and took in a deep breath, “I’m sorry...” That froze Doctor Regimen stiff before he looked up with questionable eyes on me, “What...What did you say?” “I’m sorry,” I repeated in a louder tone, “I’m sorry for how I treated you. You were only doing what you knew best but I treated you harshly and I am sorry for that...I should’ve thanked you for what you did for my brother and sister, they said you were a miracle in their lives...” my eyes began to water up as my voice started to crack, god I hate how emotional I am sometimes, “I can say without a doubt... They’d call you grandpa or grandfather because you cared for them and I as a real grand parent would.” I wiped away my tears as I gathered my bearings and took in a few more deep breaths. Doctor Regimen was silent for a moment, his eyes showed something only I’ve seen from Fluttershy. He was touched, he was speechless yes but his eyes spoke for himself as he walked over to me. His gaze was more intense up close but I stayed strong as I waited for his response. He wrapped his arms around me and held me tightly. I could feel his body trembling and as tears rolled down his face and landed on my shoulder. I had to hold him up a bit for he lost his balance, doesn’t surprise me since he is old. “It’s been so long since I was ever called Grandpa,” he said with a light hearted chuckle, “I am honored to have you as a grandson!” I smiled hearing his joy and sighed with relief, “Aside from Fluttershy you were the only few who ever were nice to me...” I wiped away more of my tears and again took in deep breaths, “It feels right calling you that, Grandpa.” Doctor Regimen cried even more but he settled soon after. He smiled at us before offering Fluttershy and I a ride, we were a little surprised by the offer but he insisted. We took it slow since Doc-...Grandpa Regimen and I, along with Fluttershy talked about a lot of things. Fluttershy talked about her world and what it’s like there compared to this while I talked about our moments. We talked for hours and hours on end but when we finally came to my house were a little sad that he would leave soon. To make our time last I gave Grandpa Regimen a tour around house, he said it was nice but it definitely needed some cleaning, couldn’t agree with him anymore since it’s an utter dump.. We continued to talk for a little longer. We made our time last to the very end but eventually, Grandpa Regimen had to go back to work. Yes we were sad but it’s not like he’ll be back or anything. We were back at the front of my house saying our goodbyes, “You can come and visit whenever.” said Fluttershy, “Just be sure to knock because we might be walking if you ever come by.” “I most certainly will.” replied Grandpa Regimen greatly, “You two take care now and try to stay alive!” I chuckled before giving a final goodbye hug, “I’ll be careful, no promises though.” Grandpa Regimen responded with a whack on the head before rolling his eyes as he laughed, “Oh, I almost forgot one last thing!” “What is it?” wondered Fluttershy. “A picture.” he replied, “So I can always look back to this day and remember what I’ve gained.” he reached into his pocket and pulled out a strange metal bare that lit up. He then lined us up a bright flash happened. He soon showed the picture to and was gone moments after. Before he left however he did say he couldn’t believe his new grandson was into beastlyality. I wasn’t sure what that meant but when Fluttershy explained it to me I swore I’d get him back for it. You can say however, I am in some way into that considering I’m human and I'm in love with Fluttershy who a mare. I’m glad it all worked out between Grandpa Regimen and I. I’m also astounded to have a new grandpa and more to that, a real family. It may be small but honestly, I couldn’t be anymore happier than I am right now. Looking back to this day always brings tears to my eyes but even if he’s long gone, I can feel his presence smiling proudly with my brother and sister and his family. > Final Part: Cerulean Protector > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Throughout the 44 years Fluttershy and I have spent in my world, we went through many changes. We grew close, we became friends but that bond continued to grow into something we call love but even then it continues to grow. I could never get enough of her, she would fill me with such joy and remind me of how lucky I am to have ever met her. Telling her how much I loved her would never satisfy me, I would immediately think of new things to say within seconds. In all honesty I’m surprised my head hasn’t exploded. She was the reason why I lived, without her I was lost, alone and afraid. I’ve fought so hard for her, I fought myself for her, I fought her depression, anger, fear, loneliness, tears, mental and physical scars. I helped her become a strong mare, a mare who could stand up for herself and not back down soon after. I helped her grow up, and in return she made me grow up as well. Honestly, when I look back at how I was back then I almost forget who that person was. I’m sure the same went for Fluttershy. It was early in the morning, Fluttershy and I were sleeping peacefully until someone began knocking on the the door. I was the first to wake up from it but Fluttershy, not long after, did to, “Who the hell could that be?” I wondered, “It’s like 6 in the morning!” funny I say that even though I didn’t have a clock or anything to tell time. Fluttershy shrugged her shoulders as she turned around to give me a good morning kiss, “Should we go check it?” “I’ll go but you stay put just in case.” I rolled out of bed, grabbed my cane, gun and knife and went downstairs to the door. As I came down the knocking turned into banging that soon became excessive. I paused for a moment, wondering who could it be but regardless I opened the door only to be surprised by a group of robed strangers. They stood in silence, their robes covered their whole bodies which weren’t all that tall except for two who stood in the back, they were close to my height and as for the rest they were all around Fluttershy’s height. “Can I help you?” I asked simply, wondering whether this was some cult or something else. They stayed silent, giving a glance to each other before responding in a calm manner, “We’re looking for a friend of ours.” they said, “She went missing sometime ago and we were wondering if you happen to have any information.” I raised a brow at them, “Who exactly are you looking?” One of the two tall ones answered, “You know very well who, there’s no point in lying, I can sense her presence within this household.” Then why did you ask, I wondered as I furrowed my brows at them, now wondering if I should flash them my gun as a warning but a better solution came into mind. If they’re who I think they are then they shouldn’t have a problem doing this. “Remove your hoods.” I demanded, “Let me see your faces.” Without arguing they did so, one by one they pulled back their hoods to reveal their faces. I wasn’t shocked when I saw them, I was more saddened honestly. Part of me knew this day would come by the other part didn’t want to believe it. I can’t deny what i’m seeing though, this is nor allusion or a dream, this is real. “I was expecting more of a surprised reaction...” said a white alicorn who stood gracefully before everyone. Her mane flowed on its own despite the lack of wind. Her face, strong but unreadable, same goes for her dark blue sister. She carried herself the same way, her mane flowed in the same fashion also as it shined its millions upon millions of stars. It’s funny how they’re sisters, one is light while the other is dark. I nearly smiled at her remark but I held my face firmly and spoke, “When you grow old, not much can scare you Princess Celestia, don’t you agree?” This made them a bit uneasy except for Celestia who showed no changed in her expression, “It’s not about age,” she replied, “it’s what you’ve experienced that affects you.” “But doesn’t that occur over your lifetime?” I argued. Celestia was silent now as she raised her brow at me in question. We stared into each others eyes before I let them in. I took them to the living where I had them seated. We were in there for what seemed like hours though in reality it was a few minutes at most. No one said a word though, most of them were examining my house. I nearly chuckled every time the white unicorn with a purple curly mane and tail would shudder at the decor. As for the others, they simply raised their brows in curiosity at a few things. “Quiet a house you got.” complemented Celestia in a sarcastic manner, “Never seen one such as this before.” I only rolled my eyes, “Certainly not your first time either.” That seemed to struck a few nerves, “What makes ya say that?” said the orange country pony with a blonde mane, tail and brown hat. Her accent was clear to pick up though it made her voice more threatening with the serious tone she used. “Am I not allowed to make a simple joke?” I wondered, looking them all in the eyes before stopping on the pink mare with the cotton candy like mane and tail. “If that’s the case Pinkie Pie might go insane!” “You know my name?” said Pinkie with curiosity, “Are you like some magical wizard? Oh and jokes are a great way of breaking in the mood!” she hopped excitedly as she giggled. “Heh, nothing more to expect from the Element of Laughter.” I said gladfully, “You really do bring a smile to everyones face.” Shockingly Pinkie was now embarrassed, her face turned red slightly and her ears went back, “Aww, thanks...” she said quietly. I laughed at her adorableness for this was a rarity, “Don’t think I’m coming onto you just yet, I need to take you out to dinner first.” Pinkie and few of them giggled while the rest raised a brow in either disgust or confusion, “Um...Not to change the subject or be rude,” said Twilight, “but how do you know about the Elements of Harmony?” I laughed even more before responding to Twilight, “Your friend has told me a lot about you all. I basically know almost everything about you ponies. I know how you all met, the trails you’ve faced, what makes you all special and the friendship you all share...” My joy soon faded as I lowered my head, “It’s a shame she gave up on you all long ago...” Everypony was wondering what that meant but part of them knew the answer. “Gave up?” repeated Applejack, the orange country pony, “Can you...Go into more detail on what ya mean?” she asked in a kinder tone. “She doesn’t hate you,” I said firstly, “it’s just that...When I first found her she had high hopes but a year later-” “A year?” interrupted Celestia, “How long has she been here?” Everypony at first seemed confused on why she asked that but one by one it hit’em. LIke a frying pan to the face they were all taken back with the realization. Pain was now present as they looked up with pleading eyes. I know they were wondering how far gone was she, were they too late? It was obvious to see those questions but I kept my composure as calm as can be. “44 years,” I said, loud enough that everyone could hear me, “she’s been here for 44 years.” This finally surprised Celestia, she was actually speechless for a full minute. I could finally see her emotions, pain and regret yet interest. This made me raised my brow slightly, was there something more to this than I assumed? Now it was my turn to ask a question or two. “How long has she been missing in your world?” I wondered, “Has it been 44 years for you?” “Not exactly...” said Luna, “From what Twilight has told us she’s been missing for no more than 44 days. The fact she's here for that long is really...Incomprehensible.” I couldn’t agree with her more despite the fact I didn’t know what that word meant, “She hasn’t aged,” I explained, “she still looks the same when I first found her.” Everypony was now confused again, “That’s impossible!” lashed out Twilight, “You can’t sit there and say so much time has passed and she HASN’T AGED in the slightest!” “Would you believe him if you saw it with your own eyes?” said a voice from the back. I frowned slightly before turning to her, she stood on the stairs. Peering over all of us though there was no joy, not even the slightest bit of relief seeing her friends after so many years. She came down quietly, not once did she look over to them as she came to my side. She stood silently, giving me a quick peck on the cheek but nothing more. Celestia was the first to speak but even she was fumbling words in her head, “I am glad to see you are well after...So many years, Fluttershy.” “Likewise,” replied Fluttershy as she tried to avoid eye contact with everyone, “I see you all haven’t changed in the slightest...” hesitation came over her, she paused to think then spoke, “How are my animals?” she asked, “Has anyone been watching them?” “Of course!” replied Rainbow Dash, a blue pegasus mare with a rainbow colored mane and tail. Her voice was a bit raspy but there was great determination in it. Her Element is Loyalty however so it doesn’t come as much as a surprise, “We’ve all pitched in on taking care of them.” she added, “I can't imagine how you put up with Angel though, little brat does nothing but yell and kick, talk about manners!” Fluttershy smiled faintly hearing that, “Sounds like he misses me...” “We all miss you.” Rarity said, taking a few steps to her friend. Her white coat sparkled from the light that shined through the windows. Her purple curly mane and tail bounced with each step before coming to a halt. She stared into her friend’s eyes before hers filled up with tears, her makeup began to smear as it ran down her cheeks but that was the least of her worries. She was basically overjoyed to see her most dear friend safe and sound after being lost for a seemingly long time. I knew how close they were, out of the rest of them Fluttershy trusted Rarity the most. Not only was she caring, she was understanding and supporting to her problems. She stood up for her the most and was there just as many times as I was for her. She truly was a true friend to her. “May I?” she asked, turning to me with tear filled eyes. I nodded as I gave her a light hearted smile, “You may.” Not even a second later they were wrapped in their arms. Rarity, finally in her friend’s arms let herself go as she wept softly. Fluttershy stayed strong as she held Rarity closely. I could see her fighting back the tears with all her might, it brought another smile seeing the bond they share is still strong. “Thank you for watching over her...” murmured Rarity, “Thank you so much!” I simply nodded, “It was truly an honor, Rarity.” This tugged a few strings for everypony, even the princesses were sniffling from all this, “No words can express my gratitude towards you.” said Celestia, “Truly no words...” Everyone took a moment to settle, once they did it grew quiet instantly, “I guess...We should take our leave then.” said Luna who turned to Fluttershy, “Are you ready to go?” she asked. Fluttershy, who was still recovering from her reunion with Rarity, turned to Luna and stared at her in silence. When she finally spoke her voice was loud and clear for everypony to hear, “No.” she said, “I won’t go unless he comes along.” she extended her wing over to me and held me closely, “If he’s not coming then i’m staying.” she stated. There was hesitation now in everypony, “I'm sorry Fluttershy,” said Celestia, “but I cannot do such a thing...” “Then I’m staying.” she argued simply. Celestia began biting her lip but proceeded, “Fluttershy truly you must see that he wouldn’t belong in our-” “If she’s staying then she’s staying.” I argued, “I’m sure you can respect her decision.” “B-but!” Celestia tried to remain calm and collective but I’m starting to her struggle, “What if he passes away, what then! He only has so many years left and you can’t age, Fluttershy you must return to your world, it’s where you belong!” Fluttershy and I were actually surprised seeing Celestia resort to begging so quickly, for someone as old as her you would think she’d be pretty level headed, “If that’s the case,” said Fluttershy, “I want to be by his side to the end so he’ll never be alone.” Twilight finally couldn’t hold it back anymore, “Listen to yourself!” she pleaded with anger in her tone, “You’re choosing him over us, think of the consequences!” Fluttershy turned to Twilight with a harsh glare as she looked her dead in the eyes, “I don’t care.” she said bitterly, “If you really want me back so badly, you’ll have to drag me by force!” Twilight stepped back, her eyes showed terror as she wasn’t familiar with this side of Fluttershy. Nopony has ever heard her speak in such a manner also. The Fluttershy they knew was quiet and going of the flow but this Fluttershy, this new Fluttershy was different. She stood out more, carried herself differently and spoke loud enough so everyone could hear her voice. It’s like when she was taking advice from that Iron Bull guy a while back but that’s not the case, Fluttershy has merely grown up. “I think we’re at an impasse.” I said quietly as I rubbed the side of Fluttershy’s ear, “Either you allow me to come with her or she stays here, I highly suggest you let me come if you wish to keep your friend.” “But we can’t!” argued Celestia, “You don’t belong in our world just as she doesn’t belong here. You would pose many risks and-” “Are you going to repeat what happened to Rainbow Dash, Princess Celestia?” Celestia was stopped cold as her eyes widened with shock, “How do you know of that!” she hissed. I couldn’t help but laughed at how obvious the answer was, “Fluttershy also told me your secrets and a certain one stuck to me all these years. A secret I nor Fluttershy could let it be forgotten. In all honestly, I’m relatively glad you brought her with you.” I looked over to Rainbow Dash with curious eyes, “Tell me Rainbow, when you came to this world have you noticed anything strange?” Rainbow took a step back but nodded her head in response to my question, “Why do you ask?” “Does any of this seem familiar to you?” “Familiar?” questioned Rainbow. “This world, this house, the argument we’re having, does any of this remind you of something?” Rainbow was only confused as to why I was targeting her but something made her nodded nervously now, “To be honest...You do remind me of someone I once knew but...I can’t put my hoof on it.” “Rainbow!” shouted Celestia angrily as she stomped her hoof on the floor, causing the house to shake momentarily, “If you say anymore to him I will send you back home without hesitation!” “So now you let her speak?” I questioned sadly, “You’re utterly disappointing Celestia.” Celestia gritted her teeth as her anger began to show, “WHAT DO YOU KNOW!” she barked, “YOU DON’T KNOW THE SACRIFICES I’VE MADE!” I wasn’t all that fazed by her anger, Fluttershy wasn’t also compared to her friends who were shaking like frightened puppies at the sight of Princess Celestia’s anger. I actually began to smirk but it was because Fluttershy had grown so strong now she can stand up against Celestia herself. I’m truly proud to see how much she has grown in my time. That smirk was soon gone though as I looked deep into Celestia’s eyes, “Let me ask you this but not as a human,” I said in a serious tone as I took a step towards her, “but as one of your many faithful subjects. Are secrets more important than friendship?” Is it worth the pain and suffering that you are in right now?” Celestia went silent, her head just dropped as soft whimpers were now heard, “I’m sorry...” she said quietly as her horn began to glow. My eyes widened as I knew what would happen next, I quickly pushed Fluttershy to the side. I then brazed myself as I felt a strong force enter and leave my body. I began to grow weak next as blood was starting to flow out of me, screams of horror filled the room soon after. Fluttershy’s screams rained over everyone’s as she was by my side the next second. My body was in unimaginable pain next as I doubled over, my breathing was picking up as my body entered shock. That pain however, the sock, all of it, soon turned into unbelievable anger. Everything in me was in flames, I felt like I could take on another blast and not even feel fazed. I pushed myself up as I reached into my pocket, everyone was shocked to see me do this with the wound I just received from the princess. I pulled out a old, rusty looking pistol a old friend gave to me. Just the look of it brought back memories. “The world is dangerous Amigo, you gotta do what you think is right to survive.” I’m not sure if that’s how exactly he worded it but I smiled hearing his voice. I flicked the safety off and aimed, I took in a deep breath, exhaled slowly and fired. The first shot brought her down to knees. The second shot missed but more screams were heard from all sides as everyone took cover. The third shot brought her down, I could feel Fluttershy’s grasp now as we approached the moment of truth. One more shot between the eyes and through the brain, that’s all that was left. Celestia showed signs of struggled as she tried to bring herself up but if my aim is still as good as before, there’s no way she’ll be able to stand right now. I had a clear shot, no way I could possibly miss. Why Luna nor the others hadn’t intervene was beyond me, they could’ve easily taken me down, I am wounded and they magic themselves. Well Twilight, Rarity and Luna do but it almost seemed like they were just waiting for the outcome. Was this possibly planned? I placed my finger on the trigger and began to pull it back, I took in a few steady breaths but cringed as some pain was returning. My arm began to tremble and soon, it gave out and the gun slipped out my grasp, falling with a low thump on the rug. “I can’t...” I muttered hesitantly, “I can’t do it.” “Why are you resisting?” questioned Luna, “You won the battle now claim your victory.” To hear her say it disgusted me but I shook my head and slowly dropped to my knees, “I’ve done enough...If I go through with it I won’t only be hurting you ponies, I’ll be hurting Equestria and worst of all, I’ll be hurting My Dear Fluttershy.” I looked over to Fluttershy, she was still holding onto me the entire time. She was just a mess right now but I could sense relief and gratitude. I smiled warmly with my decision though. My body couldn’t hold itself up anymore, I nearly collapsed but Fluttershy caught me and laid me down. Luna then stepped in, she stood over me in silence before her started glowing. I was then encased in a strange bubble, I looked around as everything darkened and went mute. I wasn’t sure what was going on anymore but I didn’t fight back anymore, I surrendered myself to whatever would happen next. I felt warm and fuzzy now, it made me smile as I heard Fluttershy’s voice next. “I will always be by your side because I love you. You make me feel so alive and I can’t imagine being separated from you. No matter what happens I will always love you...” Her voice began to trail off as everything was quiet now. I’m dead, I thought but just then a bright light shined. I was blinded for a moment as my eyes readjusted themselves. I was back in the living with Fluttershy and the others who were surrounding me. The pain was no longer present but something didn’t feel right. When I stood up I noticed I was at Fluttershy's height but just a bit taller. I also noticed I was standing on all fours now. In all honesty I’m sorta disappointed I didn’t figure it out right there though i’m not the brightest, even now. “How do you feel?” Fluttershy asked softly. I raised a brow at her and shrugged, “Um...Better to say the least.” I paused as I again noticed my voice was different, “Woah...OK now I’m a little scared, what’s going on?” I was in her arms the next second, the sudden surprise almost made us fall over, that would’ve made an interesting scene if you ask me. I looked around to see the others smiling at me, I wasn’t sure how to respond really. I thought I was dead, Celestia’s shot should’ve been fatal for my age but here I am. Standing, breathing, alive in Fluttershy’s arms but what happened? Why am I shorter, why am I standing on all fours, why does my voice sound different and how many more obvious question must I ask? I could feel myself going mad with these questions, I needed answer to all this but it was there, I was just too thick in the head to see. “I guess we should give him a name.” suggested Applejack, “What should we name him?” “Name?” I replied confusedly, “What are you talking about?” “Why not Cerulean?” said Rarity, “He’s not exactly the shade of the color but it seems to fit him well.” “What type of name is Cerulean?” questioned Pinkie, “We should name him Blue!” “How about Blue Blazer?” suggested Rainbow. “Don’t be ridiculous!” argued Twilight, “Why not Blue Flame?” “That’s the same thing!” shouted Rainbow. “Blueberry Muffin!” screamed Pinkie. “Blue Apple!” yelled Applejack. “Blue Marine!” argued Rarity. The ponies continued to argue back and forth, spouting hundreds of names with blue in them. I never even imagined blue could go with so many things but my patience was wearing then. Fluttershy and Luna tried to contain the madness but that proved little to affect as their debate heated on. I soon found myself screaming at the top of my lungs, I couldn’t take it anymore so I told them all to quiet down...In a not so polite way. After they settled, including myself, I sighed before speaking, “Before you all have a war over a stupid name, would you mind telling me what the hell is going on before I lose my well being again.” Twilight and the others looked at each other before snickering, “Oh right, maybe this should shed some light on you.” appearing from thin air was a large mirror that was brought over to me. My eyes widened as I saw my reflection, I gently pushed Fluttershy aside as I went up for a closer look. I couldn't believe it at first but as I blinked my eyes and moved my body, the reflection followed my every move. My eyes began to water up with the realization. In the mirror was me but not as a human, but as a stallion pegasus. I stood with a dark blue coat but not as dark as Luna’s. I had brown eyes with a black shaggy like mane that covered them slightly. My tail was black also and seemingly long for a stallion and my wings, basically copies of Celestia’s but in a dark blue. As for my cutie mark, it showed a shield with spears crossing in a X fashion from behind while a sun rose in the back of it all. I wondered what it meant but the answer came instantly. I smiled proudly as I brought my front hooves up only to have myself fall back next. I landed with a light thump and laid there, dazed slightly before Fluttershy helped me up. She steadied me before giving me a peck on the cheek. “How do you like the new you?” she asked. I smiled once more, “I’m one fine looking stallion, a little skin and bone compared to you girls.” Fluttershy giggled as her face reddened, “A few more pounds wouldn’t hurt and...You are quite a handsome stallion.” I blushed lightly before Applejack interrupted our moment, “You can kiss later,” she said, “but we gotta name ya and head home before something else happens.” I sighed for a moment before giving her a quick glare, “Why not Cerulean Protector?” I suggested, “The color sounds nice and Protector seems to fit well, what do you all think?” “Why Protector?” wondered Fluttershy. I chuckled at her question, “Well think about it, I’ve done nothing but PROTECT you since we met and I still am today and I also plan on PROTECTING you in the future.” I smiled happily at myself, “I’ve been your protector for a very long time, a guardian though i’m no Angel. I also like the name Cerulean because it sounds interesting yet calm and powerful.” I winked at Rarity who merely smiled, “Plus it sounds GLAMOROUS!” “Oh hush up!” spouted Rarity, “I didn’t take you for a suck up.” “Says miss dramatic.” I replied. “AHEM!” said Luna, stopping our bantering and gathering our attention, “If you have chosen your name then we should be off, I don’t want to stay here longer than needed.” “Um...Right.” I said quietly before realizing something, “Wait, what about Celestia?” I looked to where I assumed Celestia was at but she wasn’t there, in fact, there no sign of her. “In due time...” said Luna as a portal opened up next to her, “You will have your answers.” I raised my brow at her before entering the portal with Fluttershy by my side. I was then thrown into chaos as I passed multiple dimensions and worlds within seconds. I couldn’t even fathom what I was seeing before blacking out. When I woke up I was in a meadowy field with Fluttershy cradling me. I groaned quietly as I stood up, my head was throbbing for a moment but quickly went away. “Well...That was one hell of a LSD trip.” I mumbled. “Are you going to be ok?” questioned Fluttershy. “Yeah.” I replied, “I just never went into a PORTAL or anything,” I soon found myself smiling, “this is going to one interesting life for sure.” to this day i’m not sure whether I regret saying that or not. “Hmm hmm, me neither and i’m glad I still have you by my side.” “Hey, where are the others?” I wondered as I looked around, “did they make it back ok?” “They already went to their homes,” Fluttershy explained, “Luna and Celestia weren’t here when we all came back but I assume they’re back in Canterlot.” I nodded my head before remembering something, “Wait, what about Rainbow Dash? Did she get her memory back after everything that happened?” “Let’s head inside first, it’d be better for us...” I raised my brow questionably at her, “Inside? Where are we at?” after saying that I noticed a tree like house, a cottage if I remember correctly, in the distance. I hoof palmed at the realization, “Nevermind...” I grumbled. Fluttershy helped me inside since I wasn’t used to walking like her kind, the moment we came in we were ambushed by critters of all kinds. Too many to name off but what a sight it was to see all of Fluttershy’s furry critters holding their caretaker so lovingly. When they finally noticed me they sniffed me out before gagging at how foul my stench was, this made me laugh at the fact I haven’t showered in years but I couldn’t help but blush a bit. “I wonder how many baths I’ll need until they’re within arm’s reach.” I joked simply. Fluttershy smiled lightly but it soon faded away and everything went silent, “I guess we should head into the kitchen, there’s a note for you.” “A note? From who?” I wondered. “I’ll read it to you...” she replied, taking a few steps to the kitchen before stopping, “Oh and it’s from Celestia.” I watched her with concern but did my best to follow her into the kitchen. Along the way I began to hear whispers from behind though when I would look back everything went silent. This happened a few times before I started to freak out a little but once in Fluttershy’s kitchen things seemed to settle down a bit. Just as Fluttershy said there was a note on a table, we seated ourselves and Fluttershy read the note, “Dear Cerulean Protector, I am glad to announce you have...Passed our test. You have permission to live in our world but there are rules we have set for you. Rule #1, you must not mention any of this to any other pony beside Fluttershy, her friends, Princess Luna and I. If you should by chance tell anypony who you really are we will send you back to your world without hesitation. Rule #2, you must act like a normal pony, this means you must learn our culture to blend in and not bring suspicion to yourself or your friends. Doing so could lead to many problems and as before, a sentence back to your world without hesitation. These are the only rules we have made so far, if other rules are made we will inform you as soon as possible.” Fluttershy needed to pause for she was in tears as she continued to read, “I would also like to inform you that we have confiscated your weapon you used on me for beneficial reasons. We believe this could aid our military and we are currently researching the materials for this weapon. Also about Rainbow Dash, her memory has been restored, she remembers everything now and we’re not sure what the outcome will be. We can only assume she must be thinking through some things but I figured this would be best since what you said was true. Friendship is more meaningful than secrets for it has destroyed me in the inside. Lastly, I have assigned watchers for you, 6 of them. One of them being Fluttershy, each of these watchers will teach valuable life lessons you’ll need to survive in this world. You’ll meet them all when they’re available so be ready. Oh and one more thing, there will more tests to come so be prepared for your new life in Equestria could depend on it.” Fluttershy slowly put the letter down with trembling arms, her face was red with anger and tears as she restrained herself from lashing out. I wasn’t faring so well, my rage was unexplainable at the moment for my sanity was completely shattered now. It was all a lie, no not a lie, a test. This whole experience, was nothing more than a goddamn test that Celestia put us through just to gather DATA. Part of me screamed in agony while the other part was in a deep void of regret. “I’m going to kill her...” I muttered quietly, “I swear to you all, I’m going to kill Celestia, rip her head off and show it to Equestria. I don’t care of the outcome I will kill her, one of these days...” THE END Epilogue: A Few Months Later It’s been a few months now since I came to Equestria, things have been quiet around here which isn’t any different from my home. I’ve been staying with Fluttershy since I had no where else to go and I wasn’t ready to go out there just there yet. We sleep together in her room though we’re ordering a larger bed because hers is a bit too small for us. I’ve been helping out with the animals, one thing i’ve discovered was that I could communicate with them like Fluttershy could. This meant I could talk to them and they would talk back, this was thanks to Celestia though i’m not all THAT thankful. Aside from Celestia, I figured out my watchers were Twilight and the others. I was pretty shocked to realize this but I was rather glad that it was them. I really thought it was going be some royal guards or drill sergeants. Guess I dodged the bullet on that. For their roles, Twilight is teaching me pony history and how to read and write in pony. Applejack is letting me work at her farm so I could build character with some hard labor, she’s practically the only reason I go out though it’s only to her farm which is pretty large, including her family. Rainbow Dash was assigned to be my coach in flying since i’m a pegasis, I’ve been practicing hard but she says I could use A LOT of work, I assume she’s supposed to teach me how to be a good sport. Also, she hasn’t spoken much about getting back her memory, whenever I bring it up she just tells me she’s thinking over it and avoids further conversation. I can only imagine what she’s going through... Anyway, Pinkie Pie needs to break my anti socialness so I can socialize better once i’m able to go out more. So far she’s just been showing me how to goof off and make witty comments, i’m not all that spastic like her but I do know how to banter. Lastly as for Rarity, she’s showing me fabrics and how to identify colors and what not. Really i’m not sure what i’m supposed to learn from her but apparently to her i’m some type of charmer with the mares. What that means is beyond me but Fluttershy seems to get a kick out of it whenever I bring it up. I can honestly say, I don’t really like having them all as watchers, especially Fluttershy though it's not to say they don’t like it either. However, I do take the time to get to know them better and form a friendship with them. I can’t believe I wanted to kill them honestly, they’re such great ponies it would be horrible if I just killed them. I can say i’m learning a lot from them but i’ve already learned so much from Fluttershy, without her I would still be struggling in my world and she would never have grown up. I’m glad I got to come with her, but I hate the fact i’m being tested under it all. Really I don’t know what to expect but I still plan on killing Celestia, I don’t know when but one day, I will succeed.
