CHAPTER 1 – Welcome home


“Okay, my turn, I spy with my little eye something beginning with….. T!”
Onyx sighed “Is it a tree?” he said in a tired tone.
“Ummm, yeah, it’s a tree. When are we getting there anyway?” Ash said
“Hmmmmm, I’ll ask the drivers, hey guys! When are we getting there?”
The Dark Pegasi guards grunted in disgust and turned away from him.
“I wonder why they won’t talk to you, is it because you’re a-“
“Don’t…… just don’t” Onyx interrupted “I don’t like to be reminded of what I am.”
One of the guards sneered and said “Get used to it runt, you were born a reject and will always be one till the day you die.”
Onyx would have taken notice if he weren’t used to the barrage of insults from almost everypony he came across. There were a few who took pity upon him, but they were far and few. There was one he was particularly fond of, but memories of her were too painful and made him well up with sadness. 
“We’re here, I hope our stuff’s here too.” Ash hopped out of the chariot and trotted over to the door to the house.
“It’s definitely been a while since I’ve been in Ponyville, 5 years I think. I wonder if they’re all still here.” He followed after Ash before turning around “Oh, nearly forgot, thank you for taking us here gentlecolts… assholes.” The guards heard him but disregarded the remark as they took off back to Canterlot. 
“Well, let’s take a look inside.” Onyx and Ash stepped inside and saw their new home. “Wow, they even unpacked for us.” Ash said “Wait, they didn’t unpack everything, right?” Ash jumped in realization before dashing upstairs.
“I worry about that mare sometimes, anyway, I have someone to visit. I hope she remembers me.”
Onyx left the house and began to trot towards town as he heard Ash scream “OH SWEET CELESTIA THEY UNPACKED EVERYTHING!!!” 

Onyx trotted through town as the memories flooded through him again “What do you know, the petition to keep Sugarcube Corner worked, and they got rid of the homeless ponies as well.”
It was then he noticed the massive crystal structure on the outskirts of town. “That is most definitely new.” He decided to go to the one person he knew in town who could give him an explanation as to why the crystal structure was there, who as a coincidence, was walking through town as he thought of her. He filled with happiness as he went over to her and stood behind her and said “Miss me?”
Applejack turned around and when she saw the grey Unicorn in front of her she rushed over and gave him a hug “Onyx!” she cried in excitement “Why it’s been ages since I last saw you? How’s Canterlot? Did you pass?” 
Onyx chuckled and said “Easy there, no need to get too excited, and of course I passed, you know me!” Applejack let go and managed to calm down “Sorry there, it’s just been so long since I’ve last seen you, I mean, Big Mac and Applebloom’ll be so excited to see you here!”
Onyx gave a short laugh as he said “Sure, I mean, I’ve got about…. the rest of my life to see them!”
Applejack gasped “You mean?”
“Yep, Luna said my research can be conducted in Ponyville, I thought that it’d be a great place to be, due to the strange magic and the fact that most of my friends and family are here.”
Applejack picked up her things and said “Well that’s just great Onyx, I’m sure everyone will just love that you’ll be staying here for a while. Anyway, let’s get movin’, they’re expecting me, or us now.”
As they walked off a figure was watching them from the alley, they began to smile an unsettling grin as they disappeared into the shadows, leaving not a single trace of them even being there.


“Hey everypony, guess who I found!” Big McIntosh and Applebloom turned towards Applejack and rushed over to the unicorn behind her “ONYX!” they yelled as they jumped on him “Oh craAAH!”
He was cut short as they landed on him and Applebloom laughed as Big McIntosh began to cry.
“Could you please get off me?” Onyx wheezed. Applejack chuckled before saying “Alright ya’ll, time to get offa’ him.” The 2 got off him as he gasped and began to get up “I think I *gasp* got weaker when I *wheeze* was in Canterlot.”
“Well there’s plenty of time to toughen you back up, ‘cause he’s gonna be stayin’ for a real long time.”
Applebloom cheered and began to jump up and down as Big McIntosh giggled with excitement.
“I forgot to mention, how’s Granny Smith? She still got that bad leg?” Onyx asked.
“Oh she’s fine, but the leg’s been replaced by the hip. It has led to a few incidents, but none the less it’s been all fine and dandy. Although some things have been…..odd.” Applejack explained.
“Does that include the giant crystal tower over there?” Onyx pointed a hoof towards the crystal structure.
“Eeyup!” Big McIntosh said
“Huh, still don’t say much do you?” Onyx asked.
“Eeyup!”
“Still got that yoke stuck round your neck?”
“Eeyup!”
“Still got the hots for Cherilee?”
“Eeyup! I mean…. Uh… Nope….?”
Onyx, Applebloom and Applejack began to laugh as McIntosh stuttered trying to recover from the trap Onyx laid out.
“Yeah, anyway, the tower.” Onyx said
“Yeah, the tower.” Applejack continued “That’s a reeeeealy long story, we better sit down”

CHAPTER 2 – A Lil’ Backstory

“Wow, well that explains those ponies I shotgunned.” Onyx said
“They weren’t ponies, they were changelings.” Applejack said
“Ohhh, so that’s why their blood was green and they were all buggy.”
“Yeah, they were kinda a nuisance, but anyway-“
“Wowowowow….. so Twilight’s a princess now?”
“Uh, yeah, is that bad for you?”
“Well it’s just a surprise that a cheating little bitch like her would get such a prestigious honour.”
Applebloom gasped at Onyx’s statement as Big McIntosh put his hooves over her ears.
“Onyx!” Applejack exclaimed “Why would you say such a horrible thing about my friend, and especially in front of Applebloom!”
“Oh, you’re friends with her,” Onyx responded “I haven’t told you about what she did in college did I? She stole and copied my ideas, criticized my work and she thought she was better than EEEEVERYONE just because she was Princess fucking Celestia’s little helper!” 
“Look, One, you’re lucky lil’ Applebloom’s ears are covered otherwise her mind would be poisoned by the filth you’ve spoutin’ and Two, what are you talkin’ about? Twi’s a loyal friend who would never do such a thing!”
Onyx composed himself before talking “Look, I’m sorry, just the memories of college and…….. a certain incident just… just…” Onyx began to cry and buried his face into his hooves. 
Applejack was about to comfort him when he rose again, he rubbed his bloodshot eyes and sniffed “Anyway, I should probably see everyone else, I haven’t seen everypony in a while and I should probably see how they’re doing.” 
“O-Okay then,” Applejack said with worry “What uh, what’s with this ‘Incident’?”
Onyx stared at her with a blank expression before saying “I’m not ready to talk about that yet. Let’s go.”
Onyx left without checking to see if Applejack was following or to give McIntosh and Applebloom a goodbye. McIntosh took his hooves off Applebloom’s ears as she said “Applejack, what does fucking mean?”
Applejack sighed and said “You’ll find out when you’re older.” 
Applejack left the room with Big McIntosh and Applebloom standing silently, when Applebloom broke the silence by saying “Can you tell me McIntosh?”

“Where is it, where is it!?” Ash said desperately as she searched through all of the drawers of her cabinet. 
“I just need to get some eye drops then I’ll be right back!” Ash heard through the floor.
“Oh no oh no oh no!” Ash said desperately as she tried to tidy up but instead was busy trying to feel for her glasses which she dropped. “Oh crap! Where are they?”
“You mean these things?” Onyx said as a pair of rectangular framed glasses were floating in mid-air with a purple aura surrounding them.
Ash gasped and said “I think, I don’t know, I need my glasses to see the damn things!”
Onyx sighed and placed them over her eyes “Better?”
Ash pushed them up her muzzle “Yeah, better”
“You’re not still looking for it are you?”
Ash turned from a light blue to a sleety grey colour “You…you know about it?”
Onyx sighed “Yes, I know about it, you really have issues.”
“Up your’s Stiel, you shouldn’t be nosing through my stuff.”
“And you need a coltfriend, you’re keeping me up all night with the noise you’re making.”
Ash’s colour returned and she kept her look of frustration “Piss off will you?”
“Well only since you asked nicely.” Onyx said with a smug expression
As he left the room he heard Applejack say “Onyx! What the fuck is this and why is it in here?”
“Umm, what is it?” Onyx shouted back
“It looks like a big dick.”
Onyx turned to Ash with a smirk on his face before saying “Have you met Ash yet?” Onyx was trying his hardest not to laugh when Applejack said
“It isn’t hers is it?”
“Take a guess” Ash said embarrassingly 
Applejack was heard laughing downstairs as Onyx finally let it out.
“Shut the fuck up you assholes” Ash stormed downstairs and grabbed the item before coming back upstairs and pushing Onyx out.
“I think we should go now” Onyx said
“Yep, probably now.” Applejack replied.
“Just leave and don’t look back, Pegasi get stormy when they’re angry.”
The figure appeared again looking intently at the house then back at the other 2 ponies before vanishing again.

> Chapter 3 - Kinda like a Reunion

CHAPTER 3 – Kinda like a Reunion

“Well, here we are.” Applejack said as they arrived at the crystal castle
“Now you will be courteous, right?”
Onyx chuckled “Of course I will, I am a gentlecolt you know.” 
Applejack stared at him curiously “Yeah, right. Just please don’t mess this up for me? Please? For your lil’ sis?”
Onyx rolled his eyes “Ugh, fine, I’ll do it!”
“Good, cause if you do, there’ll be sandwhipa’ hurt in for ya!”
Onyx stared at her unamused “Let’s just go in”
They walked towards the castle as 2 guards raised their pikes for Applejack and then suddenly pointed them at Onyx. “Halt! We don’t allow… things like you into such locations!”
Onyx stared at them and said “You aren’t serious, are you?”
Applejack put her hoof between the 2 guards and said “Don’t worry fella’s, he’s with me.”
The guards kept their eyes on Onyx and said “I’m sorry ma’am, we can’t allow him in, he’s…. impure. I’m sorry, it’s the law.”
Applejack got frustrated when Onyx said “Don’t worry, I got this”
His horn glowed and a roll of parchment with a black ribbon appeared out of thin air
“Here,” Onyx said, giving the roll to one of the guards “read it.” 
The guard glowered at him as he unrolled the parchment and read it out loud
“To whom this may concern, I, Princess Luna, grant my student Onyx Stiel access to any location that they wish to access, signed, Princess Luna.” 
The guard grunted and said “You’re lucky I’m in a good mood.”
To which Onyx responded with “You’re lucky that you followed orders.” Before walking inside.

“Okay, remember to keep calm, okay?” Applejack reminded Onyx 
“Of course I will, now can we just go in?” Onyx asked
“Okay, fine, just….. please.” 
Applejack opened the door to the main chamber and they both entered where they were greeted by Twilight Sparkle.
“Hey Applejack how-“ She stopped as she saw Onyx standing next to Applejack
Twilight finally continued “Applejack, what’s he doing here?”
“Ummm, that’s Onyx, my other brother” Applejack said nervously
“I know his name, and I asked,” Twilight steps closer “What is he doing here?”
“He…uh” Applejack mumbled
“WHAT IS HE DOING HERE!?!” Twilight shouted
Onyx jumped in front of her
“Don’t you dare talk to her like that you bitch!” Onyx shouted
Twilight calmed down as she realised what she’d done.
“I’m… sorry Applejack… I just…”  Twilight said apologetically
“It’s nothing, I should go!” she said as she ran out of the room
As she left the doors swung closed as Onyx stared angrily at Twilight
“You haven’t told me why you’re here.” Twilight asked
Onyx glowered at her and said “Research, Princess Luna sent me to study Dark Magic and I decided to go to Ponyville as a location.”
Twilight smiled and said “Well, now that we’re on equal terms, let’s try not to fight as much….. for our friends’ sake.”
Onyx lowered his guard and said “Agreed, I don’t want more bad memories”
Twilight looked puzzlingly at Onyx before asking “How are you and Applejack related anyway? I mean, you’re a Unicorn, and they’re Earth ponies, soooooo?”
Onyx looked at her and said “I was left on the doorstep of Sweet Apple Acres as a foal, now can we please move on?”
“How sweet.” Twilight grinned “Now…… as a princess, what I say, goes, so you must listen to me and me only…. oh, and you must call me ‘Princess Twilight Sparkle’!”
Onyx stared at her and said “One, I only take orders from Princess Luna, and two, get fucked.”
Twilight laughed “Oh, I’m going to have fun with you.”
An unsettling grin set upon her face.
“Now go, and don’t disturb me unless it’s important.”
Onyx left the room and walked home, hoping to find something he thought he most definitely needed.

> Chapter 4 - An 'Undesirable Trait'

CHAPTER 4 –An ‘Undesirable Trait’

As he entered the door he found the downstairs living room to be a mess. He also heard noises coming from upstairs, but he ignored them and headed straight to the kitchen where he rummaged through the cupboards and grabbed a transparent bottle filled with a clear liquid. He read out the label on the front “Wicker Brand Vodka, huh, that’s a new one.” He opened it up and began to down it as he lay down on the couch. He stopped drinking it for a second as he thought about what Twilight said, just as a door to upstairs opened with Ash in the doorway dressed in a maid outfit panting turned behind her and said “*puff* Be right *pant* back!” She looked down the bannister and said “Don’t come up will you?” Onyx stared at her with a look as though she asked a ridiculous question. 
She pushed her glasses up to her eyes as she said “I’ll take that as a yes.”
Ash galloped back into her room and closed the door behind her as the noises began again.
Onyx felt the memory come back again “Why………” he though “Why?” it intensified “Why!?”
Onyx’s eyes were crushed closed as he remembered his previous assistant….. and her demise
“Why why why!?!?” 
It became more and more visible
Tears welled up on the sides of his eyes
“WHY!?”
He gritted his teeth as the memory became reality.
“……why….”

“This isn’t normal, you have to snap out of this Onyx!”
Onyx became corrupted. Black creeped up his legs and over his face, only half untouched as it stopped moving. His eyes were entirely black with the exception of a purple dot at the centre of each eye.
“Please,” Autumn pleaded “this isn’t you, don’t listen to the voice!”
Onyx laughed “Too late!”
He snapped on a rubber glove and tightened up his tie as he said “Let’s begin!”
His demonic voice echoed through the ears of the Pegasus strapped to the table coupled with the sound of the crazed unicorn’s assistant pleading for him to not kill the Pegasus on the table.
“Oh shut up and help me get the wings off!” the possessed Onyx said as he revved up the rusty chainsaw in his hooves.
Onyx brought the chainsaw down upon the frightened Pegasus’ wings, blood and matter spraying over the victim, Onyx and the floor. The Pegasus’ begun to cry when Onyx pinched the Pegasus’ cheeks and said “Oh, don’t worry, it’ll aaaall be over soon!” Onyx clapped his hands together and said “Nurse! Scalpel!” he had his hoof out stretched waving it about when he turned to his left to see Autumn standing there mouth agape in horror. “Oh fine, I’ll do it myself!” Onyx said with frustration as he took the scalpel and began to cut down the crying and gagged Pegasus’ chest, making him shut his eyes in pain. “Onyx, stop!” Autumn finally said, Onyx ignored her “Onyx!” Onyx busy slicing down the Pegasus’ chest, ignoring Autumn’s words. Autumn finally gained the courage to walk over to him and attempt to wrestle the scalpel out of his hooves. Onyx’s hoof slipped and the scalpel sliced through Autumn’s neck, however he didn’t notice until blood sprayed over his lab coat, shirt and tie. He looked to see Autumn slowly fall to the ground as she choked and spluttered from her own blood. The black begun to fade from Onyx and his eyes returned to normal. “No, no nonono!”
he said desperately as he put his hooves upon Autumn’s whose were on the incision on her neck.
And although it stopped the bleeding, it did not stop her from violently coughing up blood and choking her. “Please, no no no, I’m sorry Autumn!” Onyx had become fully normal though, as tears flowed from his eyes. Autumn put her hooves on Onyx’s, she looked as though she was trying to say something. But in doing so caused her to go into a coughing spasm and blood came from her mouth as it slowly began to slow down…… until it stopped entirely.
Onyx continued kneeling there, crying into a dead Autumn’s shoulder, as the vision slowly faded away.

Onyx awoke gasping, he looked over the couch to see Ash rushing a cyan coloured Unicorn out of the house. He vaguely heard the words: “Shhh, quick! I think he saw you!” before passing out on the couch, but not before saying “Close……enough.”
