Blood Burn, a young unicorn filly, begins to learn magic from Twilight Sparkle, along with her friends Silver Night, Sweet Grass, Bolting Thunder, Plum Fool, and Arctic Blast. But as they learn from Twilight, a new threat grows in Equistria, one that makes Tirek look like a kitten...

It was a beautiful day in Ponyville. The sun was shining, and a young filly named Blood Burn was going for a walk. Her black and red mane looked beautiful in the sunlight, as the deep red fit well with her coat. She was going to see Princess Twilight to take a bit of magic study. Blood Burn , while being a unicorn, was still learning magic. But she had been very focused on learning anything she could, and had neglected almost all but some basic magic. Her mother, Beating Heart, and father Burnt Ash had decided that Blood Burn had to learn more magic. After all, magic was a very useful skill, and that could be what her special skill was. So Blood Burn was walking over to the castle that lay smack dab in the middle of Ponyville. As she walked, her friends, the fillies Plum Fool and Sweet Grass and the colts Arctic Blast, Bolting Thunder, and Silver Night, walked by her sides.
Silver Night, while being a unicorn of the same age of Blood Burn, had a good sense for magic and was the son of Princess Luna and High Luster, and as such, wasn’t studying from Princess Twilight.
Plum Fool was a silly Pegasus pony, the daughter of Derpy and Grape Vine, but was a proficient flyer.
Sweet Grass, daughter of Braeburn and Fluttershy, was less shy than her mother, and was proud of her Apple family heritage, though she was a little upset about no wings from her Pegasi heritage.
Arctic Blast was a pony from the Ice Glades in the north, and had been found by Rainbow Dash as a foal and raised as her son, so he had lots of speed from her flying lessons.
Bolting Thunder was an earth pony who was a child of Spitfire and Flash Sentry before Flash had married Twilight Sparkle, but was oddly an earth pony, although a child of Pegasi.
As they walked, all the ponies of Ponyville seemed to be happy. Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie Pie were drinking coffee at Clip Clop Café, all very quiet. Fluttershy noticed the group of fillies and colts walking nearby, and flew over to them.
“Hello, all. I hear you’re headed over to see Twilight at the castle. I hope you all learn anything you can. And Sweet Grass, I packed a healthy nutritious lunch for you!” Fluttershy said, rather happily.
“Aw, Mom! But Dad already packed me a lunch. See?” said Sweet Grass, holding up her Filli-Second lunch box.
“Yes, but he also puts in whatever you want him too. You need to eat healthy if you want to grow stronger.”pointed out Fluttershy as the rest of the group chuckled to themselves.
“Alright, fine.”said Sweet Grass as her mother tucked a brown paper sack into her saddlebag and kissed Sweet Grass on the forehead.
The group walked onwards to the castle. Bolting Thunder was lightly teasing Sweet Grass.
“Hey, Sweet Grass, did mommy pack you a diaper too?” He snickered.
“Shut up. At least my mom isn’t a jerk.” Said Sweet Grass.
“Well, yo mamma’s so…”
“Finish that sentence, and you will be swallowing Mom’s egg tofu salad down your nostrils.”Sweet Grass said.
“Dude, yo momma jokes are a pathetic way to talk smack.” Arctic Blast said.
“Guys, can we stop this? We’re near the castle.” Blood Burn said, a little annoyed with her friends, but smiling all the same.
Sure enough, the castle door stood open, with Princess Twilight Sparkle standing there, her husband, Prince Flash Sentry, by her side.
“Welcome, my fellow pony friends. I see that you are ready to learn now. Come in and we’ll eat before we start learning.” said Twilight, as her guards held the doors open for the fillies and colts. Plum Fool flapped her wings, too excited at the prospect of meeting a princess, and accidently slammed into a guard, pushing him into the moat that had been constructed.
“Oops, my bad. I just don’t know what went wrong.” Said Plum Fool as she galloped on into the castle.
Twilight’s dining hall was very beautiful, comfortable, and fuctional. Blood Burn, being the main reason her friends had come to the castle, sat at the head of the table with Twilight and Flash. Between the royals lay a young purple Pegasus foal in a cradle.
“This is my son, Prince Shimmering Scout.” Said Twilight to the group of friends.
“He’s beautiful!”said Blood Burn.
“ Yes, he is. He’s got quite the appitite, just like his father.”giggled Twilight as Flash shoveled some of Applejack’s apple cake down his throat.
“What? Applejack is a great cook.”said Flash through a mouthful of cake.
“Flash, where are your manners? You’re a prince.”
“Sorry Twi, but I rarely need to make an appearance in public. So I never need em.”
“But it’s still nice to have them so Scout learns his sooner rather then later.”
“He won’t need them to eat Applejack’s cake.” The colts and fillies giggled at the playful argument. Even little Scout smiled at his father’s sillyness.
“So, let’s get to training. Silver Night, do you need magic instruction?” asked Twilight as they all finished lunch.
“I have a lot of study of it, but I could use a touch up.” Said Silver Night, adjusting his mane.
“Okay, then, go to the magic practice room with these two unicorns. Plum Fool and Arctic Blast, I understand you need flight education?”
“Well, Dash taught me some, but not a lot.” Admitted Arctic Blast, looking rather sheepish.
“Then report to the track with Flash and Rainbow Dash. Earth ponies, what are you here to learn?”
“I came to learn botany.”said Sweet Grass.
“ And I came to read some of the historical charts, see if I can track down some questions I have.” Said Bolting Thunder.
“Okay then. Sweet Grass, the botany room is with Applejack in the greenhouse. And I will accompany Bolting Thunder to the scroll room. Everypony, let’s go.”said Twilight Sparkle, as she got up from her chair. “And, please, put Scout in the nursery for a little while.”she said to one of the servants as she walked away with Bolting Thunder, on to the scroll room.
Bolting Thunder was holding up a lantern, searching through the scrolls until he found a scroll marked Flash’s family tree. He unrolled the scroll, and began to read. Flash’s parents appeared to be of a pure pegasi lineage. Even far back as Bolt could go, it was purely Pegasi.
“Nothing from Flash, I’ll check mom’s.” said Bolting Thunder to himself.
As he prepared to unfurl the Spitfire scroll, a loud bang was heard outside.
“Twilight, somepony’s breached our perimeter! Let’s get going.”Flash yelled in the doorway. Bolting Thunder and Twilight started to run, but a blast of energy destroyed a part of the tower, revealing two ponies, both a light cyan, but one was a unicorn, and the other had wings, but their faces were concealed. The unicorn grinned at Twilight as she removed her hood.
“Well, hello Twilight Sparkle, princess of friendship.”said the unicorn.
“Trixie, what are you doing? I thought you ended our grudge when we got rid of the alicorn amulet.”said Twilight.
“I did. But then, I was shown the light, the light of Destruction.”
“Who’s the other pony? Show your face!”
The winged pony removed their cloak. Underneath lay Fleetfoot, wearing a strange mechanical device on her head.
“What have you done to Fleetfoot? She’s a wonderbolt, why would you do this?” said Twilight.
“It’s simple Twilight. I am going to create an army. I have implanted a device, allowing her to harness her Pegasi magic as unicorn magic. The Great and Powerful Trixie has made the first of her army, the faux Alicorns! And she shall soon perfect the device allowing Unicorns to harness their magic for flying. In addition, the device has a specialized chip preventing the subjects from ever disobeying me. But Fleetfoot wanted the device implanted in her. I just made some adjustments before doing so.”said Trixie, laughing manically.
“You won’t get away with this, you bitch.”hissed Twilight as she prepared a spell. But Fleetfoot blasted her with a very strong stream of energy and held her in place as Twilight felt her magic fade away.
“And now, by collecting all of your magic, I can defeat you!”Trixie declared. Blood Burn and the other ponies rushed in. Bolting Thunder was cowering in the corner.
“Little fillies and colts shouldn’t mess in adult affairs!” said Trixie, turning her own magic on the group. Blood Burn and Silver Night felt weakened by the draining effects. As Fleetfoot and Trixie started to drain them, a loud noise came through the hole in the roof. Flash Sentry and Rainbow Dash slammed into Trixie, causing her magic to malfunction. Trixie turned to cast a spell, but Twilight threw her across the room, slashing Trixie’s face on broken floor tiles. Fleetfoot turned to Flash, and slammed him to the ground, crushing his legs with a sickening snap.
Rainbow Dash charged at Fleetfoot, but stopped in front of her. She had idolized Fleetfoot since she was a filly in Cloudsdale. She couldn’t even bring herself to lift a hoof to retaliate.
Fleetfoot had no qualms however, and harshly slammed Rainbow Dash into Blood Burn. Rainbow looked at her right wing. Shattered, with a few primary feathers missing. She coughed, and blood flew from her mouth. Trixie, grabbing her damaged face with her hoof, shot a beam of magic at Fleetfoot, teleporting them. Everyone checked themselves over. Other than Rainbow’s broken wing, and Flash’s shattered legs, everyone was ok.
“What happened to Trixie?”wondered Twilight. The young group was walked to the magic room with Twilight, while Rainbow and Flash went to the infirmary.
“Alright, my little ponies. I’m afraid I must send you on a quest to stop Trixie. She must be stopped before her faux Alicorns destroy ponykind.”said Twilight gravely.
“But why don’t you do it? You are one of the former Elements of Harmony.” Silver Night pointed out.
“Because I have to attend to problems here at the castle. I can’t leave Flash and Scout alone. And besides, you may discover what you are searching for out there.”
So the epic packing montage was skipped, due to budget cuts, and the 6 young ponies began a wonderful journey. A journey into the unknown to defeat a faux Alicorn, and the Great and Powerful Trixie.
Blood Burn hefted her saddlebag. She was rather annoyed with her friends. Already they were lagging behind and she was far ahead even though they had just left town. Thank Celestia they had their own bags to carry instead of all on one pony. She held up, waiting on the others, and whipped out her Gamecolt, and started to play Super Mareio Bros. She managed to beat six levels by the time the others got over to her. She saved as Plum Fool, last behind, settled down on the ground, panting.
“You’re late.”said Blood Burn, with a bit of chiding in her tone.
“A unicorn is never late, Blood Burn, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.” said Silver Night.
“Are you re-reading The Return of the Colt again?”
“No, I just like the book. I’m reading Harry Trotter and the Half-Corn Prince now.”
“It’s out?”
“You missed it, the Deathly Swallows has been out for like 6 years now.”
“I’m such a dummy…”said Blood Burn, putting her hoof on her face.
“Who are you calling dumb?”said Plum Fool, as she walked over, but tripped on a rock, launching her pack into Silver Night, causing him to lean forward, fall, and hit his head on a rock. As Silver Night leaned forward, he knocked down Blood Burn and their lips connected. For a moment, there was an awkward silence, and even birds stopped chirping, as the two unicorns froze in an accidental kiss that felt like pure bliss to the young filly and colt. Suddenly realizing what was happening, Silver Night pulled away from Blood Burn. Silver Night felt his cheeks burn, and if Blood Burn could turn any redder than she naturally was, she already had.
“ Sorry, I…”started Silver Night.
“Whoa, slow down lover boy.” Blood Burn said, half embarrassed, and half amused.
Bolting Thunder giggled. “Blood Burn and Silver Night, sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N… Ouch!” he screamed as he felt Sweet Grass’s well aimed stone hit him in the head.
“Don’t be a dick about everything, Bolt.” Said Arctic Blast.
“Excuse me, mister ‘barely any exposition for me even though it’s the third chapter.’”
“Whatever, earthling.” said Arctic Blast.
“Ah, I love a little bit of anger among friends.” Said a voice from above.
Discord, the chaotic draconnequis, had appeared on the road.
“While I’m a big fan of chaos, it’d be in your best interest to quell your arguments now. Friendship is important.” said Discord, his arms around Plum Fool and Arctic Blast.
“Also, a romance? How cute! I haven’t been to many recent weddings. Last one I was at was Fluttershy and Braeburn’s wedding. I wasn’t on good terms with Braeburn since the Apple’s Christmas party back in ‘03, so I didn’t get to be a groomsman. It was touching, seeing them getting married so young. But Braeburn had a sense of responsibility, plus it was a shotgun wedding, so yeah…”
“What’s a shotgun wedding, and why did my parents have one?”asked Sweet Grass.
“Oh, so you’re Fluttershy’s little filly! I’m Discord, by the way. Your mother and I go back a while.”
“That doesn’t answer my…”
“Hush, now. I have something for you to munch on.”
“Is it like a cookie or something?”said Plum Fool.
“Kids these days…. No. I mean, that friendship is part of the key to defeating Trixie.”
“Why?”
“I’m not telling you. With Celestia busy, I get to be the trolling one now. Goodbye.” Said Discord as he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
“Well, he wasn’t very helpful.”Blood Burn huffed.
“Actually, my mother said he is helpful, but he has a strange way of putting his help.” said Sweet Grass.
“Ok. But why would friendship be important?” asked Blood Burn.
“The Elements of Harmony, Rainbow Power, and Rainbow Ro-”
“Shut up, Rainbow Rocks is technically non-canon despite its positive reception among the fandom.”
