> The Ransom For a Princess > by BewhoUr > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Day one: The Foalnapping Of a Princess - part one > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the day where your hooves find themselves placed in straight formation atop the glistening stairs of none other then the princess. Her name is Celestia, and though shes not the princess, shes still a princess in training, which is practically the same thing. In fact, when you first met her in kindergarten, you thought that she was the ruler of the land. The real rulers of the fair land in which you reside, Equestria, are Celestia's parents, King Nightfall and Queen Galexia. They always thought very highly of both their daughters, Celestia and their new daughter, whom you have not yet met. You do not know her name, word is going around that shes adorable though. You are very lucky to be Celestia's best friend, and even luckier to be on her parents good side. You learned first hoof that her parents are very picky about who Celestia is 'exposed' to. You know because you were there when someone was rejected. It was Celestia's first colt-friend, a handsome colt named Fireleap. But the second her parents had seen him, they had ushered him out the door and banned him from the royal grounds. It would be a painful understatement to say that her parents were overprotective and untrustworthy of strangers. But lucky for you, her parents accepted you after a couple days of getting to know you. You are quite an enjoyable mare after all. Your name is Starshine, and you are a kind pegasus pony with light apricot sunset fur tone and long, bouncy orange mane and tail. You and Celestia clicked almost immediately, and it have been hard to reject you after Celestia came home, bouncing with excitement because she had finally gotten a best friend. 12 years had passed, and you and the princess were as tight as ever. So today, you feel the smooth and familiar marble of the palace stairs under your hooves as you scramble up them like an exited filly. You are careful not to scratch them, however, for you want to stay on the side of not owing any debt to the kingdom. You know that they charge crazy interest. The reason that you are here today is for the sole purpose of studying for the upcoming semester at Bridgelon high school (and, if you know your best friend, gossiping and laughing rather loudly about someones hair or another subject that only best friends can talk about without the conversation becoming awkward.) You raise a freshly polished hoof and take final look at your surroundings. The view from the top of the castle stairs is absolutely breathtaking, with a full view of the ever free forest and the small towns beyond. You can see the sunshine, and blue skys, the glow of the dewy Everfree grass, the looming trees and the young saplings. You breathe in the calming aroma of the forest beyond and knock on the door, shuffling your hooves and waiting patiently for an answer, while taking time to look at the old castle that you've come to love. The white marble walls shine like diamonds in the light of the suns rays, the towers with their guards standing on top of pedestals that made them look like statues with their stone expressions and their unmoving features. The whole thing is just incredibly glorious, and most anyone would agree. Its everyponie's dream to live- or even visit here! Another reason why you consider yourself lucky. You are so deeply strung in the web of the castles beauty that you barely even realize it when the heave door slowly begins to creak open. Whoever is on the other side must be having some trouble- "Hello! I'm Luna!" Your heart melts right then and there. A small, blue muzzle accompanied by a set of twinkling aquamarine eyes pokes its way through a crack in the large, heavy stone door. "I... I can't really open the door all the way, but I'm getting stronger!" She extends her wings and grins wildly. You just keep staring at her, lost in a trance. Shes brave, cute, awesome, strong, sure of herself, heart- meltingly adorable, EVERYTHING that you want in a little sister. And at that moment, a wave of the green flu infects you. You are painstakingly jealous of your best friend. You have always wanted a little sister. One to teach, to hug, to laugh with, even to argue with- you just hated being the only foal. You look for a couple more moments before Luna tilts her head and innocently asks, "Are you broken?" You shake your head back and forth quickly and smile with embarrassment, looking at the young filly with kindness in your gaze. "Oh, I'm sorry My name is Starshine, I'm here to see Celestia." Luna looks at you suspiciously, and her eyes narrow. "But how do I know you're not an intruder?" Luna says smartly, then she drags a small blue hoof across the ground and does a little roar, jumping onto you and clinging to your leg like a monkey. You snicker and toss your leg around, pretending to battle her as she squees excitedly. Your eyes sparkle for a moment. Shes already grown on you. She screams excitedly as she scrambles quickly up your leg, nimbly flutters her tiny wings and lands on your back with humph, and proceeds to jump up and down on your back like you're a trampoline. You laugh heartily and fall to the ground, shouting, "I'm wounded!" You glance up from your battle for a moment and see Celestia at the door, looking amused. "That's enough Luna. Starshine isn't a playground." Luna sighs but quickly perks her ears up. "OK Tia! I'll see you later miss Starshine!" Luna jumps off of you're back with a final battle cry and she runs back through the stone door. You smile after her. Celestia sighs and tilts her head at you apologetically. "I'm sorry Star. Luna's a brat sometimes." You immediately shake your head. "Oh no, shes fine!" You follow Celestia into the castle as you make a decision. You're not just here to study with your friend today.
