> The Search for the Truth of One Pony'sPast > by Brownies13 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Beginning > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo lay in her bed. She was worn out from her long day of Trotting-ham and Cloudsdale. She loved seeing the Wonder bolts. They were amazing even in person! Everything was changing in her life. She now lived with Rainbow Dash! But as she lied in bed able to think about everything that was happening she felt the sudden ache of the flooding questions. She was so caught up with trying to survive without a home she never asked herself about where might her mother have gone. She didn't feel like she would be dead, even after all these years! She knew her mom even for the short time she was with her and she promised. She promised, something she'd never forget her mom doing. Flashback _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was only five years old when mom came walking up the stairs. I was stunned, my dad...he was dead? The feeling of that pain replaced the numbness of shock as I realized the truth. My dad was dead! At this the tears came streaming down. I couldn't stop them when the door to my room opened with my mom standing there. I felt crushed, seeing her try to stay strong for me. She was trying so hard to keep going but I don't blame her. How could she? My mom came over to me and gently rested on the bed hugging me tightly. "I know this is very difficult and you are very young for this kind of thing to happen," she began trying to keep herself together, "but sometimes ponies have their time to leave." "I know its difficult to understand but daddy would want to us to keep going and to stay strong. He'd want his strong little filly to keep going..." I didn't listen to most of what she was saying. I knew she was trying to convince herself to keep going just as much as me. Yet I knew, I knew she couldn't follow a word she was saying. It was to much for her. She'd known dad for so long loosing him was like losing herself. A week later, her mother broke. She was staring out the window when she finally got up. She grabbed her leather bag and filled it with all the food she'd need and left some behind for me. She grabbed her flight goggles and walked towards the door. "Mom?" Scootaloo asked, "Where...where are you going?" Scootaloo yawned it was the middle of the night. Suddenly, Phoenix's eyes filled with tears. "I've just got to go, sweetie," she said, "But I'll be back." "Promise?" Phoenix Fire walked forward. "Promise." she said as she hugged Scootaloo. "Stay strong my little Wonder bolt," Phoenix sadly smiled. "OK." Scootaloo said tiredly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "You promised." Scootaloo sighed and fell asleep. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Rainbow Dash was in the kitchen making oat waffles when Scootaloo came down. Rainbow smiled at the look of the tired Scootaloo. "So, squirt, how'd you sleep?" Rainbow asked while paying attention to the cooking waffles. "Great!" exclaimed Scootaloo. "I'm glad," Rainbow said as she served Scootaloo and herself waffles and set the table. "So what would you like to do today," Rainbow said as she began to dig in. "Huh," Scootaloo said in thought while chewing," I don't really know." "Well, we could do a flight lesson, we could go to-" "Flight lesson!" Scootaloo interrupted excitedly. Rainbow laughed at Scootaloo's enthusiasm. "Alright," Rainbow said happily, "Flight lesson it is!" Scootaloo smiled and continued eating her food. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Alright, my little Wonder bolt," Rainbow began, "You've gotten your flapping down so you can hover, now lets focus on moving around." Scootaloo smiled sadly at the nickname, even though it reminded her of her mother she still clung on to it. "So lets start with hovering and flinging your hooves forward," Rainbow said while showing an example," Sure it looks funny but soon enough your get used to moving forward without an exaggerated fling, like this." Rainbow swiftly moved her arms in front of her while making a big flap. It moved her forward and as she still moved she continued in medium swift flaps. "See," Rainbow said, "All you need is wing strength to get you going." "OK." Scootaloo said cheerfully. She hovered still flapping her wings and readied her arms all the way behind her unlike Rainbow where her arms are just beside her. As she flung her forelegs in front of her she flipped her hind legs behind so she'd be on her stomach and made a huge flap. This shot her forwarded and she began to flap her wings like she did when rising off the ground. She stopped on a nearby cloud when her wings got tired. Rainbow came up cheering and clapping. "Great job, Scoots!" Rainbow exclaimed, "That was excellent! I knew you had potential." Rainbow ruffled Scootaloo's mane. "You learn quick!" Rainbow said," You truly are my little Wonder bolt, aren't you?" Scootaloo smiled. "Ready to go on?" Rainbow asked. As Scootaloo prepared to fly again a great rumble emitted itself from her. They both giggled. "Guess its time for a meal," Rainbow said smiling. "Yeah," Scootaloo said, "Guess so." Scootaloo began to fly down to the ground as Rainbow watched after her. Rainbow was so proud of her. She knew she'd be a great flyer. Her mother was indeed the best. After all, they only make the very best the Captain of the Wonder bolts. "She really does look like her mother," Rainbow sighed, "You really shouldn't have left her, Spitfire." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ > The Search Begins > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash sat talking over there empty plates. They talked about flying mostly and the occasional random idea that came to mind. When Rainbow went to pay, Scootaloo was lost in thought. I wonder where my mom is now. Scootaloo liked to think she was living happily, starting over just like she probably wanted. As a five year old when her mom left, she didn't think much of it but a year later in the orphanage she became angry at her. She had left her, all alone to fend for herself. She didn't know what was going to happen until the police came in from the happening of a neighbor's suspicions. Rainbow returning to the table whipped her out of her thoughts and back to reality. Now at the age of twelve, the suspicion of where her mom went hits her again. "So, squirt we have the rest of the day," Rainbow began, "What else do you want to do?" "I'm thinking of maybe going over to Apple Bloom's and hanging out there," Scootaloo said. "Okay!" Rainbow said, "But be home before dinner." "Alright," Scootaloo agreed,"...mom." Rainbow smiled at this, even if she said it hesitantly. "I love you," Rainbow called after her as Scootaloo walked towards the Apple's farm. "I love you too," Scootaloo said back smiling. Rainbow flipped her wings out and shot into the sky making a beeline to her favorite cloud. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "I wonder what we will be doing today," Scootaloo mumbled to herself. Finally, she came the CMC Clubhouse. "Hey, Scootaloo!" Apple Bloom yelled, "Come on in!" Scootaloo galloped over to the clubhouse and entered. "So whats our plan for today," She asked excitedly. "I don't know," Sweetie said. "Well maybe we could try hang gliding!" Apple Bloom suggested. "I can already fly though," Scootaloo said,"And I think the adventures of the CMC squirrel suit gliders ended bad enough." "I agree," Sweetie said,"It took me long enough to get all that tree sap out of my hair." "Ya ah' guess yer' right," Apple Bloom gave in," anyway it would probably cost a lot to get a proper hang glider." "Well does anyone have a better idea?" Sweetie asked. "I have one but you'd probably be bored by it," Scootaloo said. "No we won't," Sweetie Belle said hopefully,"Just tell us." "Well I kind of...um," Scootaloo hesitated," want to find out more about my mom." Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom both were stunned at first. They expected something extremely adventurous not research, but Scootaloo seemed very serious about wanting to do this so they agreed. First, they headed to the library. Maybe Twilight had some good facts about this. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "So Fluttershy," Rainbow asked the yellow Pegasus that has been her friend since they were small fillies," You deal with animals a lot so I thought maybe you had some advice for me caring for Scootaloo." "Well I do care for animals,"Fluttershy said," But I don't care for little fillies all the time and I'm still getting a hang of babysitting the CMC." "Really, I think Apple Jack would be of good help." "I know," Rainbow admitted," But she's always working so I don't think we'd ever get an actual talk about caring for fillies." "You may be right," Fluttershy said," And she has Big Mac's and Granny Smith's help too." "How about Rarity?" "Rarity?" Rainbow said quizzically," I'd probably have to get into a dress." "Maybe Twilight?" Fluttershy advised. "She'd probably base it off of a book," Rainbow stated. "Maybe Rarity would be my best option," Rainbow sighed, "Guess I'll ask her but I'm blaming you if I have to stand hours of dress modeling." Fluttershy giggled at the last statement. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "I'm sorry girls, but I don't think a library would have the info of where you mom might have gone." "Not a thing?" Scootaloo tried hopefully. "Well there might be a bit of information of your moms birth place and family so you could check there," Twilight advised hopefully. "She might have headed to stay in her home town. But don't you remember anything about where your mom might have gone?" "No, its kind of hazy and I was only five so I don't have much memories of her," Scootaloo said sadly. "Well you can continue searching around here as much as you like," Twilight said," But I don't know how much you'll find." Scootaloo went back to the book she was holding.Citizens of Cloudsdale 2012-2013 "Would somethin' be in the family records?" Apple bloom suggested. "No, I've already checked there," Scootaloo said remembering the time when she ripped out all the pages of her records to research them day after day and to prevent people finding out that she was homeless. Flashback ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was 10 years old. "Thanks again,"I said to the librarian, Moonlight. "Just remember to return them in top condition," she said sternly over her glasses. Moonlight was an old pony who many thought would eventually go into retirement. She didn't really like me, partly because I only used the library once and that was to keep the family records and rip out my page. "Ugh," I sighed at my temporary home. I used to call it that when I was hopeful. Soon I just called it home because I knew I'd probably be there for along time.I'm glad I was wrong. "There is literally nothing about where she might of gone!" Scootaloo exclaimed," Seriously how can a pony just leave without leaving behind a single trace?!" Eventually, I stopped searching and ripped out any pages that would give away my current situation and returned the books. A couple of days later I returned the records. "Thank you," I said as I set the books down at her desk and left. "Wait," Moonlight said. I paused a bit antsy to why I was stopped. "The books look worn," Moonlight said. "Well I did read them,"I said worriedly. She lifted an eyebrow and said,"Go on." I left quickly, afraid of her calling me back and finding out about the ripped pages. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ End of Flashback As the rainbow maned Pegasus entered the shop she was immediately greeted by a very busy Rarity. "The shops closed you'll have to stop by to- oh! Rainbow Dash!"Rarity exclaimed," What do you need?" "Um, actually, I need advise," Rainbow said hesitantly. "Oh of course I can give you style advise, Rainbow!" Rarity said excitedly. "No, that's not why I'm her-" "Why would you be asking me for advise on anything other?" Rarity asked. "Its about Scoo-" "Well first you'll need a good dress and-oh! How about a new saddle bag!"Rarity said. "Rarity!" Rainbow exclaimed stopping Rarity in her tracks. "I need advise on caring for a filly,"Rainbow said,"Not my...style." Rainbow looked at herself a bit hindered of her self confidence. "Well darling, you didn't need to raise your voice," Rarity huffed," You could have just told me." "I- never mind,"Rainbow Dash gave up," I need some advice and you have a younger sister who you practically care for like a daughter so i thought you could tell some tips." "Well you came to the right person," Rarity said," But honestly it seems like your getting on fine by yourself." "Well I guess your right," Rainbow agreed hesitantly. "If you have any questions just do what your parents did, that's what I do," Rarity said smiling. "Yeah,"Rainbow said sadly," Um its just I didn't really..." Rarity looked at Rainbow confused. "I didn't really have,"Rainbow Dash tried to finish," You know...parents." "What?" Rarity asked astonished," But why didn't I know this?" "Well I really only told Fluttershy,"Rainbow admitted sheepishly,"And that was when we were small fillies." "I'm sorry,"Rarity said. "Oh its okay. I've gotten over it really," Rainbow said to try and change the subject. "Well what happened to them?" Rainbow's eyes widened and lowered her head,"They...died." Flashback ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Call the doctor!" a nurse yelled from the Cloudsdale hospital. "She's losing oxygen!" "And clear!" Through all the muffled scuffling and calling, A rainbow maned six year old Pegasus filly was trying to hear some good news. She was very confused about what had happened. A tall stallion who had the same cyan coat and mane as her but green eyes clutched her hoof. "Dad?"The young Rainbow Dash asked,"What's going to happen to mommy?" The stallion remained silent. He quickly wiped his worried eyes and looked down at the filly trying to say something. "Mommy just was in a bad crash, okay sweetie?"he said. "Oh,"the filly responded. All of a sudden there was silence from inside the room. A pink Pegasus nurse exited the room and looked at the pair. "I'm sorry,"she said,"She didn't make it." The stallion sat down shocked. Once the shock wore off he cried still gripping the filly and covering his face with his other free hoof. The filly looked between the room and her father confused. "Dad?"she asked,"what...happened?" Rainbow's eyes were starting to fill with tears, worrying the worse. "Sweetie, mommy...mommy won't be with us anymore,"he said shakily. Rainbow pointed to his chest and to her own. "That's not true she's right here,"Rainbow said smiling sadly with tears. He smiled back and hugged her. "You really do have her eyes,"he said to her. Three years later her father died from a horrible flu. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ End of Flashback "I see,"Rarity said. "Well my best advice is to act the way you saw then treat you for the short time you were with them and when she gets in trouble just discipline her the way you think is best." "Yeah, I guess that would work," Rainbow said taking in the advise," Thanks, Rarity." "You welcome," Rarity said smiling. "Well I'm going to go get Scootaloo, its getting late,"Rainbow said. "I'll go with you,"Rarity said," They should be at the library." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sweetie Belle yawned while Apple Bloom munched on some apples that Twilight gave them. Scootaloo was still intently trying to find out more about her mom. "Scootaloo, I think maybe you should take a break with the girls," Twilight suggested,"There's some food and you probably are hungry from all this research." "Thanks for the offer but I'll pass,"Scootaloo refused still looking at the book,"This is really important to me and I don't want to miss anything that could be a clue." "Maybe the libraries not where the clues would be,"Twilight said in thought," Have you tried asking her friends or people that new her or at least were there when she left?" "I never thought of that,"Scootaloo said with a bit of tired hope," I'll try that! Thanks, Twilight!" Right when Scootaloo put down the book, Apple Jack,Rainbow Dash, and Rarity came through door. Apple Jack had run into them along the way. "Hey Scoots what have you been doing?"Rainbow asked. "I'm trying to find my mom,"Scootaloo said hopefully. Rainbow Dash was a bit taken aback by this but quickly brushed it off. "I'm sure you'll find her,"Rainbow said. when your ready.Rainbow thought. "I think every pony is tired enough,"Apple Jack stated,"Lets all head home." Scootaloo hopped onto Rainbow Dash's back, too tired to fly. "Goodnight,Twi,"Rainbow said. "Yes, goodnight darling,"Rarity said as well as Apple Jack afterwards with her own"g-night". Once, at Rainbow's house Scootaloo collapsed in her bed and immediately fell asleep. Rainbow walked up to her and kissed her on the head. "Goodnight,Scoots,"Rainbow whispered and closed the door leaving a slight crack. > Asking Questions and Small Talk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash were digging into their breakfast hurriedly. "Come on Scoots, if we don't hurry we both will be late!"Rainbow said stuffing her mouth. Today was again, the week days and Rainbow totally forgot about Scootaloo going to school. Thus, the situation here, two Pegasus stuffing their mouths full vigorously to prevent being late. "Okay, lets go!"Scootaloo said trying to swallow one last bit of food. "Brush your teeth first,"Rainbow said on her way to do exactly that. "Oh! Right,"Scootaloo said and flew up the stairs. Once all finished she zoomed down the stairs and waited outside. "Hurry, Rainbow!"Scootaloo called. "I know, I know!"Rainbow said flying and quickly saying goodbye to the picture of her parents while trying to stuff her wonder bolts suit in her bag and putting on her flight goggles at the same time. "Ready?" Rainbow asked. "Yep!"Scootaloo replied. Then the pair dove off the cloud ledge of Rainbow's house. They gracefully flew at a slightly fast pace to the Ponyville school house. "Alright you've got everything, right?"Rainbow asked. "Yep!"Scootaloo smiled,"The new set of pencils you bought me, the markers and highlighters, and the notebook. Really, you didn't need to get me this stuff." "Hey, I noticed you needed some new school gear so I got you some,"Rainbow said over the wind. "Alright, we are here,"Rainbow said while landing,"Have an excellent day." Rainbow hugged Scoots,"Your hanging with the girls right?" "Yep!" "Okay, bye!"Rainbow said and shot into the air at full sped towards Cloudsdale. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Your late," Lightning Streak says as Rainbow Dash enters the Wonder Bolt's locker room. "I know, I know. I had to drop off Scootaloo at school,"Rainbow Dash replied as she opened her messily stuffed bag and begins getting dressed in the uniform. "You're lucky Spitfire's one of your really close friends," she said. That pony has it out for me, doesn't she?Rainbow thought. "Rainbow!"Spitfire said,"Hey!" "Hey Spits,"Rainbow said. " Is Scootaloo at school?"Spitfire asked. "Yep,"Rainbow said,"She seems to have been enjoying school more, besides the homework of course." "That's good,"Spitfire said relieved,"How's she doing?" "She's actually trying to find you,"Rainbow explained a little sadly,"I think its time you face her again." "I don't know,"Spitfire said,"I think I should wait." "You know she's going to come asking me and I'm only going to tell her the truth,"Rainbow said. "I know,"Spitfire admitted. "Spits, please,"Rainbow said,"Stop running from her." "She's a great filly, really. She will understand. She won't be angry. I promise you, but if you keep running from her like this, well, you'll be missing something amazing." Spitfire looked down grimly,"I know but it so hard." "I know,"Rainbow said sympathetically. "She has his eyes, you know,"Spitfire stated in a bittersweet manner. "Yeah?"Rainbow asked. "Yep. That light purple color, really determined look to them...,"Spitfire said distantly. "I want to see her,Rainbow...its just,"Spitfire sighed. Rainbow listened hopefully. "I'm just not ready,"Spitfire stated shamefully. "I know,"Rainbow sighed,"Just give it time,I know you'll want to see her again." Spitfire smiled at Rainbow's hopeful face. "Heh, always the hopeful one huh, Rainbow,"Spitfire appraised. "Yeah, I guess so,"Rainbow Dash said smiling. "Well what do we have planned for today?"Rainbow asked as they left the locker room. "More training for the new routine,"Spitfire grinned. "Great,"Rainbow said sarcastically. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Scootaloo sat at her desk, tapping her pencil trying to think of something to write about. Ms. Cheerilee had assigned every pony with a project to write about something important to them. Scootaloo had thought about writing about her old mom but she realized that she didn't know a lot about her mom. At least nothing that would create a credible essay. "Hey,"Scootaloo whispered,"What are you writing about Apple Bloom?" "Ah' guess maybe ma' family,"Apple Bloom whispered back. "Oh,"Scootaloo whispered in thought,"Sweetie what are you writing about?" "I'm writ-" "Girls, please focus on your work, not chatting,"Ms. Cheerilee said as she looked over last night's homework. Scootaloo looked at her paper. She still had nothing. I have three days to write this! Come on Scoots, think! Scootaloo continued tapping her pencils eraser on her desk while looking out the window in thought. The bell rang and all the fillies and colts waled out of the school. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon just happened to decide to walk over to the CMC. "Can the chicken not think of something?"Diamond Tiara called out. Some of the classmates giggled and Diamond and her best friend, Silver Spoon snickered while chanting their friendship shake. Scootaloo could feel her anger boiling. "I'm not a chicken, Diamond,"Scootaloo retorted,"I thought I showed you that last time you teased me." "All you did was hover,"Diamond Tiara said snobbishly. "Do you want to see me do more than hover to a cloud?"Scootaloo challenged. "Like you could,"Silver Spoon teased. "Try me,"Scootaloo said as she unfurled her wings for take off. Scootaloo flapped into the air making big swoops to lift herself. When she got to a cloud she dove down and combined the move Rainbow had taught her to get her wings strengthened. Once she had control of herself she began flying around the fillies and colts watching and did some flips, some of these though were a bit too difficult and got her to spin to much. Yet, still she regained control, even if it was messy. Finally, she landed right in front of the astonished faces of the two bullies. "I'm no chicken,"Scootaloo said determinedly,"Because chickens don't fly." Scootaloo, Apple Bloom, and Sweetie Belle all trotted to the clubhouse confidently. Scootaloo was bearing a huge smile. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Rainbow Dash quickly did a loop and dove down towards the floor at top speed then curved herself around to face the sky. With a powerful push of her wings she shot straight up and right at the point where she'd do the Sonic Rain Boom in the actual performance, stopped and rejoined the other Wonder Bolts in flying towards the front and bowing and waving. "Excellent!,"Spitfire called out,"Okay I believe that's the end of practice today. You can all leave." Rainbow gracefully flew over towards the locker room, soon joined by Spitfire. "The routine looks great,"Spitfire said. "Yeah, I hope it looks as good as it feels to perform it,"Rainbow said. "So are you going to go pick up Scootaloo?"Spitfire asked. Rainbow easily slid out of her suit,"No, she's with the CMC." "CMC?"Spitfire asked,"Aren't they the group of fillies looking for their cutie marks?" "Oh yeah!"Rainbow realized,"You didn't know Scootaloo was apart of their club." Spitfire shook her head. "They usually hang out after school,"Rainbow said,"But since its almost five I'll probably be picking her up soon. She probably has homework to do, anyway." Rainbow finished getting ready to leave and stuffed her suit in her bag. "Bye,"Spitfire said. "Bye,see you tomorrow,"Rainbow waved. Rainbow left the locker room only to here her name from around the corner. "Yeah,I don't understand how Rainbow Dash and Spits are so close,"a grey Pegasus said. "That shouldn't have known each other for that long,"another Pegasus said. "Actually, I've known her since I was nine years old,"Rainbow said, surprising the pegasi and causing them to jump as she walked away. Flashback ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Rainbow heard loud coughing coming from her dads room. She quickly grabbed some water and ran to her dad. "Dad?"the little Rainbow Dash said,"Here's some water." The stallion grabbed the water bottle and in between coughs drank small sips. Rainbow watched with worried eyes. "Sweetie, could you get me those pills,"he coughed as he pointed towards a small orange container. Rainbow opened the cylinder and poured out two of the orange pills and gave them to her dad. "Thanks,"he said as he popped them both in his mouth and swallowed them with his water. "Did you get that flu shot I asked you to get?" the cyan stallion asked. "Yeah, dad,"Rainbow said. "Good,"he responded,"You aren't going to get this flu, alright?" "Alright,"Rainbow Dash said confidently. The next morning the house doctor that had been coming over every day ushered her out and called 911.Rainbow knew what had happened. She cried for hours until they brought her to the Cloudsdale Orphanage. One Pegasus, a year or two older than her, introduced herself the moment Rainbow Dash got there. "Hey,"the filly with the orange and red mane said,"My names Phoenix Fire. You can call me Fire. What's your name?" "Rainbow Dash,"I said with my voice cracking. "Cool, I'll call you Dash. Wait no! I like the Rainbow part better and it defines you,"the filly called Fire said smiling. Phoenix Fire had always been there for her no matter what. They were like sister to each other. They always protected each other no matter what. When they got older, Rainbow Dash stayed in Cloudsdale and Phoenix Fire, after meeting "the love of her life" as she called him, moved to Ponyville. Everything was perfect. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ End of Flashback Rainbow Dash continued to fly towards the CMC clubhouse. Once she arrived she could hear the chatter from inside. "I just don't know what to write about,"Scootaloo said. "How about flying!"Sweetie Belle suggested. "That's important to every Pegasus. I need to write about something important to just me,"Scootaloo said. "How bout' just your life?"Apple Bloom said,"You could write about life with Phoenix Fire and then write about life with Rainbow Dash." "Huh,"Scootaloo thought,"That would actually work. Thanks, Apple Bloom!" "No problem,"Apple Bloom said. "Hey girls,"Rainbow dash said as she entered. "Hey,"they all said. "Scootaloo I think its time to go home,"Rainbow smiled. "Aww,"Scootaloo whined. "Bye, girls,"She said. So Scootaloo and Rainbow began flying home. > Writing and Meeting the "Witnesses" > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm sorry, Scootaloo,"a middle age unicorn said,"but I wasn't close enough to your mother to know where she might have gone." This was the last person she could think to ask. She was absolutely no where near finding her mother and she had been asking all day! "I'm truly sorry,"the unicorn continued to apologize. "It's OK,"Scootaloo responded,"do you know anyone that might have known her?" "Well,"the unicorn began,"I do know where her old neighbors live so you could ask them." "Really?"Scootaloo asked hopefully. The unicorn nodded and began giving directions to six different homes. "Thanks so much!"Scootaloo said. Scootaloo now had some new hope and she was very excited to start asking the "witnesses" as her friends called them. Unfortunately, when she left the house of the unicorn, she relized it was very late. "Guess I'll search tomorrow,"Scootaloo sighed. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Hey, sweetie,"Rainbow said as Scootaloo entered. "Hey, mom,"Scootaloo said. "So what did you do today?" Rainbow said as she got up from the couch where she was watching TV. "Just asking questions about my mom,"Scootaloo said,"You know, research." "Oh,"Rainbow Dash said. "Rainbow,"Scootaloo said a little sadly,"Do you think I'll ever find her?" "Scoots,"Rainbow said," I know you will." "Then why hasn't she showed up?" Scootaloo said dejectedly. "It just takes some time,"Rainbow Dash said. "She's probably dead,"Scootaloo said. "No,"Rainbow said seriously,"don't ever say that." Scootaloo suddenly broke into tears. Rainbow was shocked but quickly swooped her up and sat down on the couch hugging her. "She,"Scootaloo said in between tears,"she said she'd come back." Rainbow didn't sya anything, just letting the filly say what ever she needed to. "No,"Scootaloo said,"She promised. She can't break that promise." Scootaloo continued to sob into Rainbow Dash. "She'll come back,"Rainbow said,"If she promised she will come back." Rainbow hugged Scootaloo closer to her and kissed the top of her head. Once Scootaloo's tears calmed down Rainbow decided to talk. "Are you hungry?"Rainbow said smiling,"Because I am." Scootaloo nodded. "Would you like to help me make dinner?"Rainbow asked. "Sure,"Scootaloo said smiling. So they got up and went into the kitchen, beginning to prepare dinner. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Rainbow laid in her bed. She kept thinking of Scootaloo and how she cried tonight. Then something hit her. What if Scootaloo wants to be with her mom instead of me?Rainbow thought. Maybe I shouldn't tell her. I mean Spits not even ready herself and I don't know if she'd ever be ready. No! I am loyal to Scootaloo and to Spitfire...even if she doesn't want to live with me. Rainbow suddenly felt fear that she could be separated from the small filly that she has become so close to in the last few weeks. Something will work out. I'll be with Scootaloo, right? But in Rainbow's head she didn't know if she'd be right. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So this is the beginning of my essay. I didn't really know what to write about so this was all I could come up with. The story of my life with my first and my second mom. So here it goes... Scootaloo wrote all about the memories she had of her mom. Them going to the park and her dad pushing her on the swing. Anything that she could think about. Finally, she got in two paragraphs and took a break. "That should be enough,"she said to herself. Scootaloo set down her paper and walked over to her cloud bed and fell asleep. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "OK,"Scootaloo said,"This is the first house." Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle decided to come along with Scootaloo to find out more about where her mom might of gone. They knocked on the door and a light blue earth pony answered. "Hello,"she said cheerfully,"How can I help you?" "I'm Scootaloo and I'm asking around about my mom,Pheonix Fire,"Scootaloo stated. "Pheonix Fire?" the earth pony replied,"I haven't heard that name in some time." "Well I was her neighbor for some time but we weren't that close,"she said. "Oh,"Scootaloo said,"Maybe you know where she went?" "No, I'm sorry but I don't,"the earth pony stated. OK,"Scootaloo sighed,"Thanks anyway." "Well who's next?"Sweetie Belle asked. Scootaloo pointed to a house a couple of blocks down. They walked over and knocked on the door. Like the last, this pony didn't know anything important about her mother. This pattern continued with everyone they asked. Finally, there was only one left. They arrived at the door and knocked. An old unicorn answered. "Hi,"Scootaloo said,"I'm asking about my mother, Pheonix Fire." At this the ponies eyes widened. "I haven't heard that name in some time,"he said,"You must be Scootaloo." Scootaloo nodded hopefully. "Well I wouldn't know where she went but there is one pony who could,"he said. "Who?" the CMC said in unison. "Well she was a close friend to your mother,"he said,"Almost like a sister." "Where can I find her?"Scootaloo asked. "Well she adopted you,"he siad. "Wait what?"Scootaloo asked confused. "Rainbow Flash or something was her name,"he said. "Rainbow Dash,"Scootaloo said to herself. "But why didn't she tell me?"Scootaloo said confused. "Well I don't know,"he said,"I wasn't that close to Rainbow Dash." Scootaloo got up and began walking towards the door. She swiftly flew out and went towards Rainbow Dash's and her own home. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
