The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Dusk Shine lay in his bed, listening to the tick of the clock, wishing to Solaris that he might think of something to do. Everything that needed to be done was done. He had re-sorted the shelves, gave books to everyone who needed them, even had time to read his own book for a while, but he was still bored. He decided to go ask his friends if they could do something.

Dusk, having just finished his lunch, was walking over to his friend Applejack’s farm. He saw the huge, apple-red barn from a long ways away. On the outskirts of town, it was a quiet, but large plot of land. This didn’t help him while he was trying to find his friend. When he got there, he was forced to weave his way through the trees. He knew his friend would be in here, but it was a question of where. That question proved to be quite a hard one to answer. But he was eventually able to find the stallion in question.

“Hey AJ” Dusk Shine called.

“Hi Dusk. What brings you here?”

“I had just finished up the work I had to do in the library, so I was going to ask all our friends to hang out later. You free?”

“Sorry, and I hate to say it Dusk, but I’m afraid I can’t. I have a hay lot of work to do, and if I take a break, none of it will ever get done.”

“That’s ok. I understand. See ya round?”

“Yeah. Just give me some more notice next time, ok?”

“I will.”

Dusk was slightly disheartened by the rejection from Applejack, but it didn’t take away from the skip in his step. He decided his next stop would be Elusive’s Boutique, since it was on the way to Butterscotch’s Cottage.

By the time he got to the bridge by the shop, he could tell something was going on inside the tall, circular house. He thought he saw some figures wrestling around in the upper level of the house as he walked up. He went up to the door anyways. It’s only polite to ask. He thought as he knocked on the door.

When Elusive opened the door, Dusk let his jaw drop in surprise. His mane and tail all frizzled, which was very unlike the fashionable pony usually looked. “Why hello, Dusk, my friend. How are you on this fine day? What brings you here?” he panted.

“Hey, Elusive.” he smiled, “What’s up with your hair?”

“Oh nothing,” he insisted. “Is there something you needed?”

“Oh yeah,” he facehoofed, “Duh, I was hoping to get the guys together tonight. Just hang out.”

“I’d love to, but I have some other… commitments tonight.”

“Oh, ok” Dusk said, looking somewhat disappointed, “Maybe next time?”

“Definitely. See ya around?”

“Sure” he said, and start to walk towards Butterscotch’s cottage.

Dusk’s disappointment started to show now. He moved a bit slower, dragging his hooves as he went, and he couldn’t force himself to smile. Well, thats two friends who can’t do anything. Hey! I still have three more chances to hang out with someone. This thought made him smile a bit, and it was good timing too. He was at Butterscotch’s door step.

He knocked on the door lightly, trying not to scare the shy stallion. He waited a few minutes and still got no answer, so he tried again. Still no answer.

He must be out back somewhere. he thought and went to go confirm his conclusion. When he got back, the he saw thousands of bunnies gathered around Butterscotch. He must be doing a census for those bunnies. I wouldn’t want to get in the way. So, he left the light yellow pegasus to do his work.

Dusk tried to remain optimistic while he made his way over to Sugar Cube Corner, but it proved to be quite hard. He thought earlier he had more friends he could go to, but now he had two left, and he couldn’t find Blitz anywhere. He frowned. He had really been looking forward to talk to the light blue pony.

He walked into Sugar Cube Corner, hoping desperately that Bubble Berry would be able to do something, or at least cheer him up. “Hi Bubble Berry.” he said to the always energetic stallion.

“Hey Dusk” Bubble Berry replied cheerily, “What’s wrong?”

“Oh, I was just hoping that the guys could get together and hang out, but no pony seems to be able to. Would you happen to be open?” Dusk asked hopefully.

“Sorry Dusky, I can’t. I have to watch over the store and the baby Cakes. It’s a lot harder than you think.”

“Oh, I believe you.” Dusk said as he turned to leave.

“Hey Dusk! You want a cupcake? It’s a new recipe I’m trying out and the just came out of the oven.”

“Promise they’re not hot sauce cupcakes?”

“Promise” Berry giggled

He walked in the door to the library, looking quite sad. None of his friends could do anything and he couldn’t think of anything else to do alone. He was, in fact, relying on his friends to have something they could do together. However everyone was busy. He really could have used somepony to talk to. He had something he really needed to get out. It was a secret he could only really tell one of his friends. It had already started to drive him insane.

He liked Rainbow Blitz. Not like he liked his friends. He felt something more towards the prismatic maned Blitz. And Blitz was the only one he hadn't talked to that day yet. He found it quite ironic that the stallion he liked most was the only pony he couldn’t talk to.

He’d never thought about anypony this way before, much less a guy. He was always in the stuffy library and never outside with anypony. Nonetheless, he still knew how some ponies reacted to ponies like that.

He still had no idea why he liked the cyan colt. Blitz was constantly flying around, trying out new tricks for the Wonder Bolts. Not to mention how cute he looked. That messy, prismatic mane always stood out. His eyes were deep cheerful understanding pools of purplish pink. Dang it! Why can’t I stop thinking about him? What do I do? I’ve wanted to ask him out for a while, but I just don’t know what to say. What if he thinks it’s weird?

Just then, the colt he was thinking of walked into the library. “Hey Dusk!” he called. “Where are you, dude?”

His ears perked up as he heard the voice he heard the voice of the only friend he hadn’t talked to today. “Be right down,” Dusk called back, getting out of bed. He noticed that it was starting to turn to dusk. “What’s up Blitz?” He asked when he got downstairs.

“I’m here to pick up the next Dashing Dare book.”

“Oh my, I forgot to deliver it!” he said, attempting to hide the blush that started to show.

“Doesn’t matter how I get it as long as I get it right.”

“I guess you’re right,” He chuckled. “Which one would it be?”

“Umm… Dashing Dare and The Amulet of Dogs. Or whichever is after The Emerald Eye

“Yup, that would be it. Wait here just a sec and I’ll grab it for you.” He said.

Dusk just got to the shelf when Spines walked in. She looked over at the pegasus and waved, saying “Hi Blitz,” not paying attention to where she was walking. “What’s u- ooof” she cried, walking straight into the shelf Dusk was at.

It wobbled because of the impact, and gravity caused everything on it, including a statuette perched on top, to come tumbling down onto a surprised, unexpecting Dusk. The only thing he heard was Blitz calling his name before everything went black.

Chapter 2

Sick Day

Blitz stood there, jaw dangling in complete shock, looking at his fallen friend laying on the ground. He saw scarlet blood starting to ooze out of the wound on top of his friend’s head where everything had hit him. All of Dusk that stirred was his chest, moving up and down with his breathing. At least he’s breathing, thank Solaris for that. He thought. Still, I should make sure he doesn’t have any other injuries.

He walked over to his unconscious friend. His natural instinct was to check his head first. Seeing no more than he had earlier he checked the rest of Dusk’s body for any other major injuries, blushing slightly as he did so. He only saw a few scrapes and bruises.

“He’s gonna be ok, right?” he heard a voice squeak from the corner of the room.

He turned to see who the voice came from. It was then he saw Spines huddled in a corner. He had totally forgotten about her in his rush to help Dusk. She must have been in as much of shock as he was, if not more, because she caused it.

“I- I don’t know…” his voice was shakier than he wished it was. He wanted to assure the baby dragon more than he did, but he couldn’t really say he knew for himself. He started getting his friend onto his back as he talked. “I’m gonna bring him to the hospital. They‘ll know what to do there. Can you hold the fort down here while I do that?”

“Sure… I guess” She said sounding unsure of herself.

“Great. I’ll pick you up after I’ve dropped him off.” he turned to leave

“Ok. And Blitz,” she called before he left. he turned his head to face him. “Be careful with him. You wouldn’t want to hurt him more.”

“Of course.”

When Dusk woke up, he noticed he had a splitting headache, and when he tried to open his eyes he struggled because the lights seemed too bright. When he was finally was able to sit himself up to observe his surroundings, he already had legs around his neck. What’s happening? he thought, And where am I?

The second question was easy to answer, seeing all the medical equipment. He was in the hospital, but why? He looked down to see the pony who had their legs around his neck. It wasn’t a pony though, and they weren’t legs. It was a baby dragon hanging onto him, and she was crying.

“I’m sorry, Dusk Shine. It’s all my fault.” she cried into his shoulder.

“What’s your fault?”

“Knocking the books on top of you. I was saying ‘Hi’ to Blitz and wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. I bumped into the bookshelf and everything fell off. I was so scared when you didn’t get up.”

Dusk smiled “It’s ok, Spines. I’m not mad at you.”

“Told ya she wouldn’t be” a voice called from the door of the room.

He looked up to see all of his friend enter the room. “How’d you guys all know to come here?”

“Oh, we’ve known for a while now.” Elusive said “Thursday was it?”

“Wait! What’s today?” Dusk asked, desperately

“Saturday, Silly.” Bubble Berry giggled

“Saturday!?” Dusk almost screamed “Who’s watched the library? What about my studies?” he wanted to ask a thousand more.

“Don’t ya worry about the library.” Applejack said comfortingly “Spines’ got it all under control. As for your studyin’, ya aren’t really in a good condition for that.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Have ya looked at yourself lately? Yer head’s in bandages fer ponysake. You shouldn’t be doin’ nothin’ for a while now.”

“We were so worried about you. You wouldn’t wake up for so long.” Butterscotch shuttered

“You even scared me dude” It was Rainbow Blitz. His cheeks started to heat up. He didn’t know he scared everypony that much.

“Well, I’m sorry for worrying you all so much,” Dusk said sympathetically “but would somepony please fill me in on what l missed over the past few days.”

“Sure thing” Blitz said.

It seemed like they were talking for hours but eventually got bored and started to play games. It was about an hour after that the doctor came in. She giggled as all of them stumbled over their excuses, each trying to get their own out first. “Don’t worry. You don’t have to leave yet. I’m just here to check on Dusk” She said smiling. She turned to the stallion she’d come to see “How are you feeling?”

“I’m feel fine. I had a bit of a headache when I woke up, but that’s gone now.”

“I’d expect you to have a headache, especially after you took such a hit to you head. You’re lucky it’s only a concussion.”

“Well,” he hesitated, and the room got suddenly quiet “I’ll make sure I’m aware of my surrounding next time.”

“And I’ll pay attention to where I’m walking.” Spines put in.

“You’ve learned something from this experience. Good, but you’re still injured now; you shouldn’t move around too much, and we’re gonna come to check on you tomorrow, so you could leave by then. Which brings me to my next topic. You’ll have to have somepony stay with you at all times to make sure you don’t injure your head any more than it already is. I don’t care who it is, but they need to be able to help you out, too. ” she turned to leave.

“Thank you, doctor” Dusk called, “See you in the morning!” the doctor nodded as she closed the door behind her. “You guys heard her. I could be out of here tomorrow, and I need somepony to help me around the house.”

“Oh silly” Bubble Berry giggled “you have Spines, and she already helps you all the time.”

“That’s just it.” Dusk said matter- of-factly “I need somepony to watch over me, not the house. Either way, Spines already works enough.”

Apple jack started “Well, I’m sorry sugarcube, but I can’t. With applebuck season comin’ up, I have more work than when y’all asked me if Ah could do anythin’.” he said

“Elusive?” Dusk asked

“I’m sorry as well.” Elusive said “The day you came over was the one day I took to spend with my sister. Even though it’s been four days, I’ve still been rushing to get orders in on time.”

“How about you Butterscotch?” Dusk asked

“Oh I’d love to,” she said, and Dusk’s ears suddenly perked up “but I have to take care of my animals. I couldn’t possibly be there all the time.”

Dusk’s ears drooped again ”Oh… ok. I guess that makes sense. Could you help me out Bubble Berry?

“No can do, Dusky. The Cakes just went on vacation and put me in charge of Sugar Cube Corner! It’s my first time doing it all by myself!”

He turned his head to the last pony in the room who hadn’t answered. He was, ironically, the only pony he had feelings for. “What kind of Element of Loyalty would I be if I just left you hanging? Of course I’ll help you.”

Home Day

Dusk woke up the next day feeling refreshed. The headache from the previous day still lingered, but it was to be expected. The thought that he might get to go home today made him forget about it though. He was excited to get home and start getting back to running the library and doing his experiments. Crap, he thought, doctor didn’t want me doing any activity. Screw her! She won’t be there to watch me.

That’s when Rainbow Blitz walked through the door. That’s also when Dusk remembered what was happening. “Hey Dusk” Blitz greeted him. “How are you feeling? You ready to leave?”

“As much as I’d love to, the doctor hasn’t come in and cleared me yet.” Dusk sighed

“Been in here too long? Missing home?”

“Yeah, but even when I get home, I won’t be able to do anything. You heard the doctor.”

“Yeah. That’s gotta suck dude. At least I’ll be there. I’ll make sure each day is totally awesome.”

The doctor walked in with her clipboard, ready to check to make sure Dusk was physically ready to go. She did all sorts of things including checking his blood pressure, listening for steady heartbeat, and checkinged to make sure his head wasn’t bleeding any more and was somewhat healed. She also did some concussion testing to make sure his concussion was almost completely gone.

“Well, everything seems to be fine. You are able to leave today, Dusk.” she looked over to Blitz. “I assume he will be staying with you.”

“Yes. This is Rainbow Blitz, one of my good friends.” he introduced her to Blitz

“Well, Mr. Blitz. I expect you to watch him very carefully. For the first couple days or so, he should stay at home, other than to bathe. Make sure he gets plenty of sleep. You’ll have to do anything else that he needs help with. No magic.”

“Ok”

“After the first few days, he can start doing light activities. Taking walks outside, for example. Still, no magic."

"Anything else?"

"After that, just keep gradually letting him do more. He can use magic after about two weeks.” she turned to leave. “Oh yeah. I almost forgot. He won’t be able to remember much short-term. You’ll have to write down stuff so he’ll remember them.”

“Got it. Thanks Doc.”

“No problem. I’ll meet you downstairs so we can fill out the paperwork.”

Having filled out all the paperwork at the hospital, Blitz and Dusk were able to leave. They started towards the library. Dusk Shine stumbled clumsily over his own hooves, almost falling to the ground. He would have actually hit it had it not been for Blitz’s dash to his side to catch him.

Dusk started talking really fast “Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh. Thank you so much for catching me. I don’t know wh-” he was stopped by a hoof lightly covering his mouth.

“Hey” Blitz interrupted, “I would have done it for any of you guys. Especially for you, in your condition. Apparently you were already ready to start resting” he joked and lowered his hoof to let Dusk talk. This action also revealed a slight blush on Dusk’s face. Blitz was surprised he could see it through Dusk’s dark coat.

“I’m just really glad I don’t have to go back there.” Dusk replied pointing towards the hospital they had barely gotten 50 feet from.

“Come here. You can lean on me, and I’ll put my wing around you. That way we know you won’t fall.”

Dusk gladly accepted the offer and leaned up against the speedster’s side. As he did so he felt the wing fall gently around his back. He took a second to absorb the warmth and softness of the feathered appendage. They continued slowly towards the library, Dusk leaning on Blitz the whole time. Dusk was surprised Blitz didn’t complain, much less could hold his weight the whole way there.

As soon as they walked through the door, they were instantly greeted by a hard working Spines. “Hey! You guys are back. Just in time, too. Lunch has just finished. Come on. I’ll serve you guys up a plate.”

Spines was an amazing cook. Once both them had eaten their fill, they thanked Spines for the meal and walked out into the living room.

"What do you want to do, Dusk?" Blitz asked

"I kind of wanted to play a game. You up for some Magic?"

"As long as you promise not to use your magic to levitate the cards. I'll go grab my decks."

Blitz was jus about to leave when Dusk called out "Wait, you're supposed to watch me." Not wanting Blitz to leave for a moment, wether it was his fear of something happening to him or just not wanting Blitz to leave was a question still to be answered.

"My house is right above here. I think Spines can handle you for a bit."

"Ok, but come right back. I have something I really need to talk to you about."

"Got it. I'll be back in ten seconds flat."

Dusk just laughed at this as Blitz flew off, and went to grab his own deck. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna tell him how I feel. Just the thought of telling Blitz lifted a huge weight off his shoulders. He went to levitate his deck, but caught himself just before doing it and went over to pick the deck box in his mouth. He didn'want to risk having to walk on three legs downstairs.

Whe he reached the bottom, he saw Blitz setting up. He walked over to the coffee table and set up his own side. "So, what was it you wanted to tal to me about?"

This is it. It's now or never. "Blitz... I really like you."

"I really like you too. That's why we're friends right?

"No, it's more than that for me. I love you Blitz. I love everything you do. I love who you are"

"You really feel like that?"

"You probably think I'm stupid now." Dusk almost started crying

That was until Blitz spoke "Why would I think you're stupid? You're my best friend."

"I just admitted I'm gay and love you" he said, surprised at Blitz's calm voice. "How could you be so calm about this?"

"Because I've had the same feelings for you. You're much braver than me. You were able to admit it, unlike me."

"So, will you be my special somepony Blitz?"

"I wouldn't want anypony else." He said, kissing Dusk "Now let's get this game started, and don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're my coltfriend now."

"Dang, that burn deck is really good. I don't get how you do it."

Dusk just laughed "Lots of playing with Spines. She's even better."

"Spines is better than you!?"

"Well, yeah. She's even gone to a Pro Tour."

"She's been to a Pro Tour!? It's like impossible to get there!"

"Like I said, she's really good" He let out a great yawn. "I guess all this playing has made me tired "

"Come on," Blitz laughed "let's get you to bed, sleepy head."

He walked with Dusk upstairs, and got him in bed. He heard a light snoring as he was leaving and looked back at his coltfriend. He's so cute when he's asleep. He thought as he closed the door and walked down stairs to try and challenge Spines to a game.

Revelation day

The world real world pulls me from my dreams with a kiss from my new coltfriend. I peel my eyes open to see him staring into my eyes, and I do the same, taking in everything there is from the deep pools. We don't say anything, just lay there appreciating each other's company. I break the silence, saying "I love you." and kissing him. It's the first time I've actually kissed someone, and it starts my heart racing.

When we finally break, I ask the question that had somehow slipped my mind before. "Am I the first pony you've kissed?"

The cyan stallion across from me thinks for a bit before he answers "I'm pretty sure you are, but I'm absolutely sure it wasn't a bad thing."

We both laugh and just enjoy cuddling with each other. Eventually, Blitz bursts out "I'm hungry" half whining. It causes me to laugh even more.

"Come on. Let's get something to eat." I look over at the clock. It read 8:04. "No wonder you're hungry we missed dinner. I'm sure Spines has left some leftovers in the fridge." We walked down the stairs together, I leaning on Blitz all the way down. Even after reaching the bottom, we're so close our pelts are rubbing against each other.

When we enter the kitchen, we see Spines staring at us like we're crazy. "What's up?" Blitz asks.

"Did something happen between you two that I don't know about? Why are you two so close?"

I look over to my lover and finally realize that we hadn't told Spines. I'm kind nervous, not knowing what my number one assistant would think. Would he even want to work with me any more? Blitz eliminates my fears by just saying it. "Dusk asked me to be his coltfriend and I sad yes. You cool with that?"

"Yeah, as long as the two of you are happy."

"Thank you Spines. Now Blitz, we're gonna have to tell our friends pretty soon."

"Sure. Why don't we have them over? Berry's been going crazy about not being able to throw you a "get well" party. We can tell him can throw her party and we can tell them there."

"You sure?" I was just thinking about her reputation

"Of course. We're gonna have to tell them at some point, right?

The party was a week later when I felt it was safe for me to be at it. Bubble Berry's party, like most, was happy and upbeat. With as easily as Spines had noticed, we expected that our friends would at least be able to recognize it. Blitz had his wing draped around me the whole time.

When it finally came time for us to tell everypony, Blitz was the one to say it. I had tried my best, but I just couldn't get the words out. I'd end up stuttering or not speaking at all. Eventually, Blitz just blurted it out. "Me and Dusk love each other and now we're together!" He said as fast as he could, almost putting Bubble Berry to shame.

All of them looked confused, trying to break apart what Blitz had just said. Elusive was the first to speak. "I'm sorry darling could you say that again?"

Blitz opened his mouth to speak, but I got there first. "He said we love each other and were together now."

There was a collective "ooh" and everypony gathered around, congradulating us on our new found love.

"Oh darlings, that's simply wonderful. How, may I ask, did you two find out?"

Blitz was a bit calmer now and decided to not speak at supersonic speeds. "Well," he said "I had just brought Dusk home and we had eaten lunch that he told me he wanted to play Magic. He also told me at that point that he wanted to tell me something when I got back, 'cause I had to grab my cards, right? So I come back, and there he is waiting for me. We started to shuffle up, and asked him what it was he wanted to talk about and he jus told me then and there."

"And you said yes?" Asked Applejack

"Well, duh. Why would we be together if I hadnt. I'd had the same feelings for him for a while and I planned to be the one to tell him. So when he told me, it took me by surprise."

Bubble Berry pulled them in a bone crushing hug. "I'm so super duper happy for you two." She suddenly gasped, almost inflating herself to a ball like state. "Do you know what this means?! We have to throw a 'Yay! Dusk and Blitz finally admitted their feelings to each other and just got together' party for you guys!"

"Awesome, Berry. Wouldn't have any one else throw it." Blitz said

"But, how do the rest of you feel about this." Dusk put in, "I know it's really sudden, and it's not exactly normal-"

"So what if it isn't normal? We're the Elements of Harmony! No pony really expects us to be normal." AJ said

"I know that, but some ponies think it's just wrong. You know, with old traditions of a mare and a stallion."

"Who cares what they think darling? It's your life. You do what you want."

"Anyone who thinks otherwise can just go screw off" Everypony turned to the source of the comment. Their eyes widened as well when they saw it was Butterscotch who had said it. "Did I say something wrong?" He asked, his timid voice returning.

Everypony laughed at this. "Nothing wrong, sugar cube. Just wasn't expecting it from you." Applejack said, walking up to comfort the yellow Pegasus.

"Well, I'm glad you're all so accepting." Dusk said, now held by Blitz's wing. "We're still gonna have to tell our parents, but for now, I think we'll have to take Bubble Berry up on his offer of a party." Looking at the bubbly pony, he commented "It looks like he's about to explode."

"I am!" He squealed, "I'm just so happy for you guys."

"I'm happy, too" said Blitz, "Happy I got so lucky."

Date Night

View Online

It had been just one day since Bubble Berry's party. Blitz had taken the time to help Spines take the decorations down and tidy up. It wasn't a super crazy party or anything, but there was still cleaning to be done. Rainbow did most of the hanging things (mostly since Dusk still couldn't use magic) while Spines took ground patrol.

They now sat in Dusk's bedroom, playing a 3-player game of commander. Spines loved her dragon tribal deck, and had good reason to, considering how many times he savagely beat his adversaries. Dusk, like his standard deck, played a simple, fun Melek burn deck.

Blitz, on the other hand, wasn't having much fun at all. As good as he thought his deck was, he just couldn't seem to draw any reanimator spells, much less board wipe. "Dang it! That's five games I'm out first."

Dusk just leaned over and kissed his colt friend. "You're so cute when you're mad."

Blitz folded his arms and pouted. "I am not cute!"

Dusk couldn't help but laugh. "You're not helping your case. Just admit it. It's one of the things I love about you."

Blitz let a smile creep onto his face. If there was anything he loved more than the pony next to him, it was his smile. To him, it was a contagious thing the lit up the world and spread happiness to all that saw it.

He was brought out of his daze when his colt friend asked, "So, when are we gonna go on a date?"

The look on his face was one of pure shock. He hadn't expected it so soon. "Well... Maybe... How about..." He babbled tripping over his own words until he was finally stopped by hoof in his mouth.

"I'll start then. How about tomorrow at 7?" Blitz just nodded. "Ok. See you tomorrow then." He said as Blitz let himself out.

And I thought I was the brave one. He thought leaving the library and taking off towards his house in the sky.

It was the night of his first date with Blitz, and his heart was racing. He figured he should dress formal, but now he was having second thoughts. He wore his tux Elusive made him for the Gala. Subtle but elegant, as the pearly white stallion had always said. When he finally opened the door to reveal Blitz, he was greatly relieved that his friend had had the same thought process as him.

They walked out from the library onto the main road. "So, where do you wanna go? You asked me so I figured you'd have a plan." Blitz asked

"Actually, I hadn't thought that far ahead. I was a bit worried about how I looked."

"Well you shouldn't." Blitz said laying his wing over Dusk's back. "You truly do look amazing." Dusk just blushed. "Hey, why don't we go over to Lyre and Bon Bon's place?"

"Isn't it a candy shop?"

"We're grown ups now. No pony's to tell us we can't have desert first."

"I guess that's true."

There was an air of calmness in the sweets shop. Lyre played his lyre for any pony who happened to walk in. Bon Bon was straightening the candies in the display case, not having anything better to do. They all smelt so delicious that he could hardly resist taking a few. The door bell stopped him from giving into temptation.

"Hello! Welcome to my sweet shop." He started his normal routine and stopped when he looked up and saw a couple of his friends, one's wing draped over the other's mid section. "Oh my god! You two are together? You guys look so cute."

The pair blushed as Lyre, who had stopped playing, came up from behind them. "Hey guys. Nice to see there's another couple like us around."

Dusk tilted his head, unknowing. Finally, Blitz had to explain. "They're together, too. He means another guy couple. An "o" formed on Dusk's mouth as he finall understood.

"Yeah. Most guys are too afraid to make it public. I kind of get they have some kind of reputation to uphold or what ever. So, how'd you guys get together?"

"You mind if we get some candy and sit down? We haven't eaten yet." Blitz said.

"Sure, I'll ring you up." Bon Bon said as they all trotted over to the register.

"So mostly we've just been hanging out, talking, got a couple walks in for some fresh air. We were just going out for our first real date." It felt nice for Blitz to just let loose and talk. He'd been really nervous while his friend was unconscious.

"Well great for you guys! We'll let you guys go then. It's nice to know there are more ponies in Ponyville who are kinda like us." Bon Bon said

"Yeah. You guys have a good time." Lyre called as they walked out. "We're always open to talk if you need, too."

"Thanks guys." She said over her shoulder. "We should go on a double date sometime."

"Sounds like a plan." The both said simultaneously and then laughed.

They walked down the street after having dinner, Dusk leaning on Blitz for support. They had lost track of time, and now payed for it in grogginess. They had been lost in each other's tales of stuff they had done.

Blitz could have listened forever if he didn't have to sleep. The voice of his partner was like angel calling him to heaven and bringing him nearly into Dusk's body in the stories he told. And he certainly had a lot of them, considering he was the prince's protégée.

Suddenly, he heard Dusk whisper in his ear. "Do you want to stay over at my place?" He asked.

Blitz instantly blushed. He knew what Dusk meant, but, for some reason, couldn't stop it. "S-sure." He stammered, then kissed Dusk on the forehead.

By time they reached the library, Spines had gone to sleep. They silently tiptoed up the stairs to Dusk's bedroom. They got under the covers, and Dusk took Blitz in his embrace not wanting to ever let go. "I love you" he whispered and kissed Blitz. Both closed their eyes and drifted into their own worlds, not too far from the other though.
