> The Friends of the Night > by Noctis > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Day Begins > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luna and Twilight were spending another day together, as Luna had promised the purple princess ages ago. The two friends have bonded and become closer than ever, ever since the mall incident. Luna helped out Twilight in her hour of need, just like Twilight did for Luna, when she freed her from Nightmare Moon. The Princesses were in Ponyville, making a trip to Aloe and Lotus Blossom's spa. Twilight Sparkle had planned this day weeks in advance. Just like the last time, the organization-obsessed pony had brought a list that detailed all that they were going to do that day. "Twilight Sparkle, must you really create those accursed lists for every single day? Your life is nothing more than writing things on a paper, and then executing the tasks on said piece of paper." Princess Luna said as she contested the purpose of her friends list. "Oh be quiet Luna. Before we became friends, all you did was sit around and mope because you had no one to talk to but your sister. That, and your English was horribly broken." Twilight argued. "My English was simply not contemporary! I spoke fluent early modern English, plebeian. It was not as if you could not understand me at all. My speech was exquisite and had charm. The essential word in that sentence being was, as you and your lectures sought to contemparize it." "Ugh. Let's just go to the spa now. Please? It's not like it's the mall where hundreds of ponies are walking in and out every minute. It's sole purpose is to relax the patron! We've wasted enough time, Luna." "Very well then, Twilight Sparkle. You shall lead the way, and I shall follow. A nice, relaxing, and stress-relieving spa would be most pleasing." The two princesses trotted through Ponyville, giving a greeting smile to all the members of the public as they passed by. It was a sunny day in Equestria. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining vibrantly, the smell of spring was in the air. It did not take long for them to arrive at the Ponyville spa run by the spa twins. The Spa looked as crisp and clean as ever as the sunlight reflected off of the new coat of glossy paint that was applied to the exterior of the building. The bright and colorful decorations on the spa filled one up with positive energy with just the mere sight of it. As they walked closer to the door, the Spa pony sisters opened the door themselves from the inside and greeted Twilight and Luna with excitement. "Hello princesses! We're ever so happy to have you here! Welcome to our humble spa!" The blue and pink ponies said with smiles on their faces. "Please, please, no need to recognize us as princesses. We're just here to enjoy the spa. I always love to come here with the girls, but this time I've convinced Luna to tag along. You don't have to give us any special treatment just because of our titles." The modest Twilight told the kind ponies. "Indeed, we seek nothing else different than your usual treatment. We are here just as patrons, not as princesses. Twilight Sparkle and I merely wish to enjoy your relaxing spa, if that is alright with you both." Luna added. "Alright, if you both insist. Please, help yourselves to the sauna, hot bath, or mane salon! We only want the absolute best for all of our patrons!" Aloe insisted as she nodded to her sister. "Yes! We always do our best to make sure every patron has the best time they can! If you need any help, just call one of us over, and we'll gladly help!" Lotus Blossom said with a smile. Luna and Twilight giggled a tad when they saw how lively and happy the two sisters were. The friends then nodded in agreement, and went to go try the bath. The two friends trotted over to the nice, warm, and relaxing bath. The candles that surrounded the water let off a calming and soothing aroma that added in a sense of atmosphere. "After you, Twilight Sparkle." Luna insisted. She had a smile on her face and she intended for Twilight to take the first step into the bubbly water. "What, are you scared of water now to, Luna? I didn't know you were so wicked." The pony said with a grin on her face. Twilight started a pointless, but fun, friendly, and playful battle with Luna, both continuously arguing that the other should enter first. "Twilight Sparkle, it seems we have reached an impasse, a stalemate, a gridlock. We both insist that the other go in first, and yet we are doing nothing but wasting time for the sake of wasting time. While I admit, the banter has been rather playful and fun, we are drawing some rather undesired attention towards ourselves. We are disrupting the peace, and I can sense the unpleasant thoughts they are thinking of us." The nervous blue pony said as she interrupted the loud banter that her friend and herself were having. Twilight snaps herself out of the playful argument and proceeds to look around. As she turns her head and moves her eyes, she sees the displeased spa patrons with increasingly annoyed expressions on their faces. "Oh..eh..heheh...heh... sorry." The nervous purple princess apologized with remorse as well as with a hint of embarrassment in her voice. "Luna... let's just go in the bath before we draw anymore attention to ourselves..." "I couldn't agree more, my dear lavender friend. Let us just relax in the water and take our mind off of these... watching... eyes..." Luna began to get nervous as well. Even though she was more outgoing than she once was, she still did not like having all eyes on her in a public setting. The two ponies then nodded in agreement, and stepped inside the bath, with the Spa Sisters' consent. The Spa ponies then did everything they could to make the atmosphere calm and relaxing again by having smooth music playing. The two ponies spend about a half an hour simply being soothed by the calm and warm water. The Spa eventually quieted down and all was well. Soon afterwards, Aloe and Lotus came to check up on the two peculiar patrons. "Hello Luna and Twilight, how are you enjoying your bath? My sister and I do really hope you are satisfied." "Ah, this water is ever so soothing. Everything is simply divine! I must say, I can not believe that you do not get more business! This is truly a spa unlike any other." Luna praised The two spa pony sisters grew big smiles on their faces and became immensely excited as they heard the Princess' praise for the spa that they spend every day and night perfecting. They let out a soft scream of joy as they danced in place out of sheer euphoria. "Oh Princess Luna! You're too kind! We're not as good as you say we are, but we really are happy that you enjoy this place so much, right sis?" Aloe said while she was trying to humble herself and her sister. "Oh yes, Princess, you're praise goes quite the long way for our humble Ponyville spa. I'm sure if you go to some high-class spa in Canterlot, that you'll be serviced far better than you were here." Lotus Blossom added as she denied her and her sister's true excellence. "I refuse to allow yourselves to neglect and deny your true excellence in this extraordinary spa. This establishment is unique, and has it's own flair. The service here is unrivaled! Why not a single "stuck-up" and "snooty" Canterlot spa can compete with such perfection as the one a patron in need of stress-relieving can find here. The atmosphere is gives off a sense of pure euphoria! I contest your statements for I know for a fact that they are not true. Why do you wish to humble yourselves and not be given credit where said credit is due? It baffles me, to be honest." "Come on girls, you know you're great! But I get that you want to kinda be more on the down-low. Trust me, I don't like to be recognized as a princess and treated differently because of it, but I still am. Am I considered to be great by others? Yes. But I feel uncomfortable, and I think that's exactly how Ms. Never-ending Praise is making you feel. Anyways, I think it's time we get out of the spa, and dry off." Twilight proceeded to exit the bath with Luna as they playfully splashed each other on their walk out. They asked the spa pony sisters if they could be shown to the salon so they could have their manes done. As they approached the Salon section of the excellent, yet extremely modest spa, the two friends encountered a pony currently getting her mane blow dried. It was none other than the White coated, purple maned fashionista herself, the element of generosity, Rarity. Rarity looked up as she noticed the obstruction in the lighting of the room and sensed that ponies were coming near her. When she looked up, she was surprised, but definitely not disappointed to see Twilight. "Twilight! Darling! How have you been! Why, I haven't seen you since I went to Manehattan to help Coco Pommel with her dress line! It has been far too long!" Rarity exclaimed as she saw her old friend. Luna soon appeared, coming from behind the purple pony. "Oh, and why if it isn't the princess of the night herself, Princess Luna! How good it is to see you under pleasant circumstances!" "Likewise, fair Rarity. It is rather unusual to see you under non-troubling, non-urgent circumstances. There is typically always some sort of dire situation that only you, Twilight, and the rest of your friends can only resolve. It does get rather repetitive and formulaic seeing you under such circumstances, so I must say, that without a doubt, it is most good to see you here. I trust you have been well, Rarity." Luna was excited to see another one of Twilight's friends with whom she did not spend much time with. This was her chance to make a closer bond with Rarity and form a close friendship with her. "Girls, girls, come on, let's drop the formal greetings. We're here to relax, and it's time we start doing that." Twilight interjected, but had gone unnoticed. "Why yes, in fact, I have been very well! I have recently designed a whole new fashion line with Coco Pommel! I simply can not wait to present it to everyone when it's ready!" "Pray tell, what is the concept of your fashion line? Modern fashion intrigues me, for it has so much more individuality and uniqueness than it did a thousand years ago" > Meeting Rarity > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As they approached the Salon section of the excellent, yet extremely modest spa, the two friends encountered a pony currently getting her mane blow dried.
