It was noon in Manehatten, and ponies left their businesses for one of the best times of the day, lunch break. The Tasty Tomato was a very popular restaurant for this time, and their sandwiches were to die for!

Filthy Rich, owner of Barnyard Bargains, was enjoying his own DLT, and reading the paper. The headline said "Elements of Harmony stop Discord!". As he read the paper, he didn't notice his shadow turn a shade darker and stretch up onto his shoulder. Filthy's shadow stretched back down to the ground, where a black shape shot out from it. The shape traveled along the ground and around the restaurant.

The shape stopped when it reached the back of the restaurant. It then rose up onto the wall where a somewhat clearer shape could be made out. It was black, like a shadow. It also bore a resemblance to a ghost. The ghost-like being had an eye that was located in the center of where it's face would be. The "eye" narrowed as the being muttered to itself.

"So, Discord has been defeated, eh?" it's voice sounding like a creepy male whisper, "Cool, that means I'm at the beginning of season 2. Which also means that a certain series of events will occur soon." The being made an eye smile.

"And with those events, a chance to have my revenge on you, traitor!" With that said, he shot up to the roof of the building, where a flock of pigeons were resting. He entered the shadow of one of the birds, and began creeping up the body of the bird. Soon, the entire bird was pitch black in color.

The shadow being then chuckled, "Alright, now to Ponyville!" he said, then took off toward the small town.

As he flew, he thought back on how he had gotten into this mess in the first place.

Flashback
Xavier's POV, 1,005 yrs. ago

I rolled my eyes as I listened to my friend, Jack, talk Pinkie Pie style about My Little Pony. Now, don't get me wrong, the show is interesting, I'll admit that, but it gets annoying to listen to your best friend to talk about it all the time.

Ok, maybe I should explain. My friend Jack and I are going to a friend's house for a Halloween party. Jack had dressed up as Soundwave from Transformers Prime. Even though he loves MLP, he will always be a Transformers fan boy. I chose to dress up as my Ectonurite OC, Shade. I was wearing a dark grey hooded robe that had black crack-like lines on various parts of the robe. The hood could be zipped up, and on the zipped up hood was a single blood red eye with a slit pupil. On each of my sleeves, I wore manacles with some designs on them. I had gotten them at Comic Con.

Now, I have seen some MLP episodes, my favorites being Discord's premiere and the Mare-do-Well episode. But Jack has seen every episode, beginning to end. He even memorized some of them. That is dedication in my book, dedication or just flat out obsession. Either or, take your pick.

Anyway, I notice Jack slowing down about the newest episode. "Alright Jack, chill," I said, happy to finally get a word in edge wise, "I know you like the show, but can you calm down? Some of the people in there probably don't want to hear you talk their ears off about it."

Jack thought about it for a second before answering. He sighed, "Alright, I'll tone it down."

I smiled, "Awesome, now let's get in there and party!"

When we entered the house, the party was in full swing. It has been about an hour since then, and the party showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

I was at the punch bowl when Jack walked over. "Yo dude!" He said, "How are you liking the party so far?"

I grinned, "It's awesome dude! Some of these costumes are really fucking cool!"

"I know, right!" he said, "Hey, I was meaning to ask you earlier, but where did you get those manacles anyway?"

"I got them from a guy at Comic Con."

"From Comic Con, where all of those people disappeared?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Just wondering. Hey, are they supposed to be glowing like that?"

I looked down. Just as Jack had said, my manacles were glowing a purple color.

"They shouldn't be." I replied, a little freaked out. But before we could do anything else, there was a purple flash, and then darkness.

I awoke feeling strange. I looked around, and noticed two things. One, for some reason, I could only see from one eye. Two, I appeared to be in some kind of forest.

"Oh, great," I grumbled, "did someone spike the punch bowl or something?" I looked down, and screamed. I had lost my legs, and in their pace was an ethereal tail.

"Holy!" I exclaimed, "What the hell!" I tried to stand, and quickly levitated up into the air. Mentally freaking out, I looked around, and noticed a pool of water nearby. I wobblingly floated over to it, not used to not having legs and floating. Once there, I quickly noticed that my robe had become skin-like, and that I had no zipper to show my actual head. I looked at my hands. They were a dark grey, the same color as my robe, but I had lost two fingers, with each hand having only four digits as opposed to the usual five.

"Okay, I'm in a forest in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere, and I've apparently been turned into my OC." I muttered, trying to rationalize the situation. Looking back at my hands, I noticed that my manacles were still on.

"Damn it!" I hissed, glaring at the metal cuffs. "This is all your faults!"

"Hello?" A new voice called out, "Is somepony there?" It sounded like a girl.

Just sit still, and don't make a noise. Maybe she'll go away. I thought.

I could hear the sound of foot steps. It sounded like two people were coming over. A bush rustled for a few minutes before the beings came out. Or, should I say, being. It was a horse, it was a midnight blue color, with a mane and tail that looked like parts of the night sky. It had a unicorn horn, and from what I could see, it also had a pair of wings tucked at it's sides.

Holy shit, it's Princess Luna. I thought to myself before my eye widened in realization.Wait, that means I'm in My Little Pony. Oh, come on! Why couldn't it be the Naruto universe, or the Young Justice universe?

As soon as Luna spotted me, her eyes widened before glaring at me. "Halt foul creature! Who and what art thou, and what is thou's business here?"

Thinking quickly, I responded. "Greetings! I did not mean to intrude upon anything you may have been doing. I have gotten lost."

Luna was still glaring at me, but it had softened a tad. "Very well. But, thou still haven't answered our other questions."

Thanking my natural ability to think up things on the fly, I answered. "Oh, yes, of course. I simply forgot them. My name is Shade, and I am an Ectonurite."

Present Day
Xavier/Shade's POV

Shaking myself out of my trip down memory lane, I noticed that I had almost reached my destination.

Damn, how long was I reminiscing? I thought to myself before I saw my destination coming up. Ah, there you are!

I landed on the window sill, checking to see if she was home. Luckily, she was sitting on her bed, reading a story. Once I did that, I then released the pigeon. It let out a shrill cry of surprise, before flying off once I had let it go fully. I winced, expecting the resident to look up from her story, but thankfully, she didn't. Dumb flying rat. Could've gotten me noticed. I mentally grumbled.

I quietly went over to the wall that she was facing. Loudly clearing my throat, I eye-smiled again as I saw her jump in surprise. As she looked around for the source of the noise, I cleared my throat again. This time she looked over to me, and her jaw dropped to the floor. Suppressing the chuckles that threatened to spill out, I spoke.

"Greetings Ms. Dash. I would like to have a word with you."

"Greetings Ms. Dash. I would like to have a word with you."

A few seconds later, Rainbow Dash finally picked her jaw off of the floor.

"Who the what are you?" she asked.

"A friend." I responded.

"Ok," Rainbow said, glaring at me. "Well, if you aren't going to answer my question, then I have another, why are you here?"

I rolled my eye. "One, I did answer your question. You asked me who I was and what I was, and I answered it with 'a friend'. Two, I am just here to talk."

"What about?"

"I am here to warn you about an event that will happen in the next couple of months."

A minute passed before Rainbow crossed her forelegs. "Well? Are you going to warn me?"

"When you hear three specific words, in this order, come find me in the Castle Ruins."

Rainbow glared more intensely at me. "And they are?"

Can all she do is glare? I wondered. "Sheesh, someone is impatient. Fine, the three words are: Mare Do Well."

"Ok, how is it that helpful?" She asked.

"It will help you deal with events in the future."

Rainbow didn't seem convinced.

"Uh-huh. And what's going to stop me from telling my friends about you?" She questioned.

"They won't believe you. They'll think that either you had a hallucination, or that you had a VERY realistic dream." I cooly responded.

Any further discussion was stopped when the duo heard a noise from the window. They looked, and sitting there was Twilight's pet owl, Owlowicious. I did an eye-smile. And there is my escape route.

"Well, it's been fun Rainbow Dash, but that's my ride." Before she could say anything, I shot over and took over Owlowicious. Taking off, I flew into the Everfree, and landed in the Ruins of the Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters.

Rainbow Dash's POV

Who was that? I wondered. And what did he mean by Mare Do Well?

Landing on my bed, I began thinking about what he said. I should tell Twilight and the others. But, what if they don't believe me? I thought about it until I fell asleep. When I awoke the next day, I had just thought it was a dream.

A Few Months Later
Rainbow Dash's POV

"Whoever this pony is, they have a lot of nerve!"

I am currently in my house, ranting about the mysterious pony that stole my thunder yesterday.

"I mean, seriously-" I was cut off at the sound of somepony knocking on my door. Making my way to it, I could feel my eye twitch at how the costumed pony completely upstaged me.

Opening the door, I saw Ditzy Doo, or Derpy as I like to call her, standing on my porch with a newspaper in hoof.

"Hey Rainbow Dash!" She greeted,

"Hey Derpy, what's up?" I said.

"Just here to deliver your newspaper." Derpy said, hoofing it over to me before going into the air.

"Well, see ya later Rainbow!" She said as she waved goodbye, not noticing that behind her was a tall tree.

"Derpy, look out for that-" Derpy looked back just in time to run into it. "...tree."

Derpy fell to the ground, but was more or less unharmed.

I waved goodbye as she flew back into the air and back to Ponyville. I then went inside, and began to read the paper. However, I froze as soon as I read the headline.

Who is this mysterious "Mare-Do-Well?

About a Month after Shade & Rainbow's Meeting
Shade/Xavier's POV

It's been a month since I met Rainbow Dash, and I am bored out of my mind. I would go out and mess with the Ponyville inhabitants, but then I might miss Rainbow Dash coming by. Yeah, I'm paranoid. Can ya tell?

'Damn, dude. How long does it take for Mare-Do-Well to show up?' I thought to myself. To pass the time I have started stretching my hands onto the castle walls and creating shadow puppets. It's interesting to see what I can make.

I felt my eye twitch as my patience grew thinner and thinner. "Where is she? Mare-Do-Well couldn't have happened already." I muttered as I formed my hands into a tyrannosaurus rex skeleton.

"No, it hasn't happened yet." "You just met with Rainbow Dash very early."

"Holy shit!" I jumped. Well, as close to a jump as I could manage. I quickly moved over to an adjacent wall to see just who managed to sneak up on me.

My eye widened in surprise. The Lutece Twins. How the hell were they even real in this universe?! Although, an even better question would be how the hell did they sneak up on me. I didn't even sense them! I thought.

Robert rose an eyebrow at my actions. "Hm, looks like you won the bet. I thought he would have been able to find us." I narrowed my eye. "Bet? What bet?"

"We bet on whether or not you would be able to detect us. I bet that you wouldn't, my brother bet that you would." Rosalind answered.

I rose an eyebrow. "Ok then. New question, how are you two even here."

"My brother and I decided to go to a comic book convention-" Rosalind began.

"where we bought a silver coin that brought us to a different version of Equestria. The same thing-" Robert continued.

"has happened to multiple other beings. A good majority of them have items-" Rosalind continued.

"that allows them to be summoned to the different Equestrias where others like them have been brought to." Robert finished.

I was floored. "Wait a second, the comic book convention? I remember you guys! I saw you two before you disappeared. And then the convention was ended because so many people went missing." I then remembered the last part of their explanation. "Summoning items, eh? I may get in on that racket. Well, as soon as I get my body back."

Rosalind nodded. "We were a few universes over-"

"And decided to inform you on our shared predicament." Robert finished. "And now, we should be going."

"I thank you for both the information and the company. It has been some time since I have had a decent conversation." I said.

"Well, we must be off." Robert said, "We need to get back to our universe."

"Yes, we should get going." Rosalind agreed, "Good-bye Shade."

"Good-bye you two! Hope you excel in whatever you need to do." I waved them off. The two smiled as a tear opened up behind them. The twins then turned and walked through the tear, with it closing up behind them after they did.

"Nice people, those two." I muttered, before going back to making shadow puppets.

Present Day
Rainbow Dash's POV

I landed in front of the ruins that night. The words "Mare-Do-Well" were ringing in my head. I walked in to see an empty courtyard.

I huffed as I scanned the courtyard, "Not here. Great." I was about to take off when I heard a chuckle.

"You don't have very much patience, do you Rainbow Dash?" the shadow came up on a nearby pillar.

I sighed. "While this "Mare-Do-Well" is around, not really." As I said this, I saw the shadow's "eye" narrow into an calculating glare.

"What are you doing?" I question.

"Well, I felt something coming from you, and upon further study, I have figured out that you, Rainbow Dash, have been hexed." it said.

"Wait, what?!" I nearly yelled. The shadow nodded. "Yes, and this a very rare kind of hex. It only activates when the caster wants it to. Unfortunately, I can't sense what it does. But, I have an idea on how to figure out both what it does, and who cast it."

"Which is?" I asked, hoping that it would get rid of whatever this hex was.

"I follow you into town tomorrow. Then I will be able to see what it does, and track the magic it releases back to the caster."

I felt a little uneasy, seeing the shadow in Ponyville is something I don't want to get used to, but if it gets this hex off of me...

I sighed again. "Ok, that doesn't sound like the best idea, but I can deal with it."

The shadow nodded again, "Alright. And before I forget, my name is Shade."

"Now, can we PLEASE talk about Mare-Do-Well?" I plead, hoping to figure out a way to get rid of her.

"Ah, yes. The root of the problem. I have a feeling that whoever put that hex on you is Mare-Do-Well, or is someone who hates you and thinks Mare-Do-Well is better than you. But back to the matter at hand. Follow me."

I trailed behind Shade, with him leading me up to where we had defeated Nightmare Moon. On the pedestal was a few different things, along with what appeared to be a map of the ruins.

"What is all of this stuff?" I question.

"This stuff is a bunch of things that I think can help in both of our cases. Look at that flyer." I picked up the indicated flyer. It read:

Equestria-wide Talent Competition
Grand Prize winners get 3 wishes granted by the Princesses
Rules...

I stopped reading and looked over at shade. "So, how would this help me?"

Shade sighed, "The grand prize winner gets three wishes granted by the Princesses. If you win, you could use one to unmask Mare-Do-Well."

"Oh. That makes sense." I said, "Mind if I hold on to this for a while?"

Shade shook his head. "Nah, keep it. I don't have any need for it."

I nodded. I then made my way over to the window.

"Wait." I stopped and turned. Shade as looking at the ground and had a claw behind his head. "Do you mind coming by again sometime after this whole 'Mare-Do-Well' thing is over? I could really use the company."

'Well, he is pretty much alone out here. And plus he did just help me figure out a way to beat Mare-Do-Well.' I smirked and nodded. "Maybe."

I then turned and took off back toward my house. I needed some sleep, that way I could be ready tomorrow to show Mare-Do-Well a thing or two.

Present Day
Shade's POV

It was bright and sunny outside the next day. I narrowed my eye as I tried to keep pace with Rainbow Dash and stay out of sight.

'I get that being fast is her thing and all,' I thought, 'But does she really need to fly so fast when we have a mission to do?'

Rainbow landed on a tree branch and I shot up to her shadow. "Ugh, there is nothing going on today!" she said, scanning her surroundings. She would have said more if not for the large amount of screaming that came our way. A cart of what appeared to be tourists barreled down the path, past the two of us.

"There are reasons why you never say things like that." I said.

Rainbow rolled her eyes before taking off and chasing down the runaway carriage.

'It's moments like these where I'm glad I can just stay in someone's shadow.' I thought.

Flying up along side it, she said "Never fear, your friendly neighborhood Rainbow-"

"Excuse me, do you think you can skip your catchphrase and just hurry up and save us?" a brown earth pony said.

"Ugh, fine." Rainbow Dash said. "Picky picky" she then muttered as she flew up to the front of the carriage. Rainbow dug her rear hooves into the dirt as she tried to stop the carriage.

It was then that I noticed an extremely thin magical link that was attached to Rainbow Dash begin to glow, before she lost her traction and was thrown out of the carriage's way. I shot out of Rainbow's shadow as I followed the link.

The link had lead to a crowd of ponies, who were standing along the path the carriage was traveling. Hiding in the shadow of a nearby tree, my eye narrowed as I scanned each of the ponies.

'Now then, where are you? I thought, before I found the pony the link was connected to. 'Ah, there... you... no way.' My eye widened as I found the caster. While I still could't see them, I could see their cutie mark, and that was enough to shock me to my very core.

Later that day
Rainbow Dash's POV

After Mare-Do-Well saved the day again, I had gone looking for Shade, but couldn't find him. So, I went out to the castle ruins again.

"Shade? Shade, are you here?" I called.

"Ah, Rainbow. Just the pony I was looking for." Shade's voice rang out as a pitch black timberwolf stalked into the room.

"WHOA!" I yelled as I shot up into the air.

The timberwolf let out a chuckle as Shade's voice rang out once more. "Relax. Remember when I overshadowed your unicorn friend's pet owl?" I nodded.

"Well, I'm doing the exact same thing to this timberwolf."

I blinked in surprise. "Oh." I landed and walked over to Shade. "So, did you find out what this hex does and who put it on me?"

Shade nodded. "Yes, I have for both of your questions. The hex basically causes you to have bad luck, figured that out when right after it was activated, you lost your traction."

"So THAT'S what happened!" I exclaim, "I was wondering why I had lost traction so quickly."

"Yep. As for the caster... well..." Shade nervously said.

"What? Who is it?" I asked, getting right into his face.

"Well, I couldn't get a very good look at the pony." My shoulders slumped when I heard this. "But..." My ears perked up at the word. "I did see their cutie mark."

"What was it?" I asked.

Shade seemed to look at me for a second before he sighed and began walking out of the castle. He looked over his shoulder and said "I'll show you."

I followed him outside, where he began drawing a picture with his claw.

Shade asked me to come look at the picture. When I saw what it was, I could have sworn that my heart stopped beating for a second. The image was of a six-pointed star with 5 smaller stars surrounding it.
