We all know life isn't forever. It has to end at some point, whether we like it or not. The same goes for the ponies of Equestria. These are the stories about how nine such ponies met their end.

I Lay there in bed, knowing the end was near. A mare, about fifteen years younger than I, sat next to me. Her face was wet with tears as she held my hoof in hers. "No, please Rarity, don't go!" she yelled through her sobs. "Please!" She lost her ability to speak, and lay her head down. I felt as each sob shook rattled her. I looked over to her as everything began to fade. She brought her head up and for a moment was silent.

I smiled at her before saying, "Sweetie, Don't let me stop you from being happy."

She immediately started to cry gain. "Please!" she screamed. "Please don't leave me!" Before long, the world faded into nothing. I drew my last breath, and passed on with a smile on my face.

I lay in my bed as my life was fading. The animals must have felt it, because not soon, they began to come into my room. The bunnies, Squirrels, and mice climbed on my bed with me. The other animals gathered around, filling the room. I could see the tears in their eyes as they watched me slowly drift into oblivion. I stared up into the ceiling, and wondered who would take care of the animals. I thought for a moment before the perfect pony came to mind. "Find Twilight," I said. "She can help you." the animals nodded. I stared up at the ceiling and smiled, know they would be in good hooves. I closed my eyes, and accepted the darkness that surrounded me. it didn't hurt.

I lay in bed, surrounded by my family. The reunion was going great, until I started going down. Now, I know i'm at the end of my rope. almost my entire family was there. some hung their heads in silence, while others sobbed uncontrollably. A mare, maybe fifteen years younger than me, approached. She placed my hoof and hers as tears silently fell onto the sheets. I looked at her and our eyes locked for a moment. She smiled at me and said, "Thanks for being there for me sis. I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for you."

I responded to this with a smile of my own. "Now you just have ta do the same for yer foals." She gave me a light kiss on the forehead before rushing away. Another pony approached, this one about five years older than me. When he arrived, I said, "'Taint fare." he looked at me confused before I said, "Mah older brother aint suppose ta out live me." He gave a small chuckled before giving me a hug. as he left, I watched a single tear fall from his face. As I felt death approaching, I crossed my hooves and closed my eyes. The crying grew louder before fading into nothing.

I sat in my chair, slowly rocking back and forth. the room was completely empty, save for a few pieces of furniture. I thought back to the day I moved to ponyville. Everyone was always so serious. That changed really fast as I spread smiles all around town. I did that for year. I started thinking about the day Twilight arrived. It was so cool to meet somepony new, especially if they're from out of town. I'm glad she came, things wouldn't have been the same if she didn't.

Then I thought back to the day Sweetie Belle came to get me. She was crying and said something terrible had happened. We rushed over to Carousel Boutique to find rarity dead. I cried my eyes out. I thought back to when Twilight came for me. She was also crying when she got there, and I had a good idea of what happened. We went to Fluttershy's cottage, and sure enough, she was gone too. I cried again, losing another friend. When Applebloom came to my door with red eyes, I immediately knew what happened. I ran over to find Applejack dead. I cried again, now having lost three of my friends.

There's one thing that stood out to me though. When I got there, they all had smiles on their faces. When they passed, they passed while they were happy. If they were happy, then that's all that matters to me. If they're happy, I'm happy. By now I had stopped rocking. I smiled and shut my eyes. I let death take me, just as there was a knock on the door.

I burst through the door to find Pinkie sitting in her chair. I went up to her, shaking her shoulder to wake her up. When she didn't wake up, I started shaking her harder. "Come on Pinkie, this isn't funny." When she would wake up, I started panicking. I noticed she wasn't breathing. "Pinkie? Pinkie!" I screamed. "Pinkie Please! Wake up!" I dropped to the ground and started crying. Pinkie was my best friend, and we were closer than twins. I was closer to he than I was my own husband. Now that she's gone, I don't know what I'll do.

The next few days I spent alone in my house. About a week after I found her, I started drinking. It didn't take much to get me drunk off my ass. I ran out of booze, so I decided to fly out to get more. I jumped out the window and spread my wings. even though I was old, I still had my strength. I flew toward the store, not noticing how much I was swerving. Suddenly, a rouge gust of wind slammed into me. I spun out and crashed into a roof. I rolled down and fell into an ally.

I immediately knew I had some broken bones. I looked around at the damage, and froze at by mid. I had landed on a large piece of metal, which was now lodged into my chest. Blood was oozing from the wound, and it didn't take long for a pool to start forming. A pony came running around the corner and ran up to me. I heard them yell, "Oh my god! Silver! call a medic! this pony is hurt bad!" The mare turned to me. "Stay with me, you'll make it through this!'

I already knew that was a lie. with the amount of blood I was losing, I would be dead in minutes. not to mention the damage I've taken to my lungs. I looked up at the mare. "Don't lie to me. I know I'm not going to make it."

"Don't say that!"

"What I say is the truth. I already feel myself slipping." the mare didn't object. "I need to ask you something before I die."

"What is it?" she asked.

"I need you to send a message to princess Twilight Sparkle. tell her that I died in a drunk flying accident. Tell her not to be broken by this. Tell her I lived a full life, and was not afraid of dying. tell her that she was a great friend, and that I wouldn't be the same without her."

"Alright. I'll make sure the letter get's there tonight."

"Thank you." I looked up to the stars. I watched as star exploded, creating a beautiful display of colors. I found it funny that me and the star get to see each other's end. I heard running hooves as a veil of darkness covered me.

Alicorns have a long lifespan. We live for thousands of years. We witness countless countless generations arrive and leave. However, we are not immortal. there will be a day we finally pass into oblivon. sadly, I knew my day was approaching fast. I lay in bed, sending a guard to summon the other princesses. not long after, the three burst into my room. The moment they entered, they froze in shock. Their once powerful princess was now fading away before their very eyes. When an alicorn dies, they leave no trace. their bodies cease to exist, and their spirits are taken to oblivion.

Twilight ran up to me. "Princess!" she yelled, her eyes filling with tears. Cadence and Luna soon followed. "Princess no!" She put my hoof in hers and placed her head upon it.

Luna stepped forward, and our eyes locked. her eyes too were full of tears. "Tia." she said. " I thought I was ready for this day, but now that it's here, I realized I'm far from it."

"No one can prepare for something like this, no matter how hard we try. I too thought I was ready, but that is not the case." she came close and placed a kiss on my forehead before breaking into sobs. Seeing her and twilight in this condition was too much for me, and I began to cry myself.

Cadence approached and placed her hooves on the bed. "So, this is it then."

"It is."

"Even though we never really connected, I still feel saddened to see you go.'

"I've never heard of somebody being happy a friend died." She chuckled at this and was about to step back when I stopped her. 'Thank you for being such a great sister for Twilight. You and shining really helped her through some tough times." She smiled and backed up, letting Twilight come closer to my face.

"Princess," she said in a very low voice. "Thank you for being my mentor. I learned so much from you, and I'm very grateful."

"Ah, but you weren't just my student. You were a mentor to me as well. We all learn from each other, and I learned alot from you twilight. You grasped concepts I myself struggled with. Had I not met you, things would be much different." She smiled at me, and placed a kiss on my forehead.

My physical form began to dissipate, and all three stepped back. They watched as my body slowly faded from existence. I looked to them to see they all had their hooves on each other's shoulders. I smiled, and my body burst into tiny sparkles that drifted out the window and into the vast space beyond.

It was heartbreaking to watch Celestia pass, so I know how it felt when I did the same. Twilight and Cadence burst into the room. Cadence approached me. "Luna! please, I don't want to lose you!" After Celstia had died, the three of us started hanging out more, and we became very close. "Luna!"

"Calm yourself. While we may not like it, this day is inevitable. Please, do not linger on my death. I want you to be happy."

"Luna." She placed a kiss on my forehead, and back up. Twilight immediately came forward and placed my hoof in hers. We sat there in silence for a moment before I spoke, "I want to thank you Twilight. You and your friends helped save me from nightmare moon and helped me make friends in the world." She remained silent. "I wouldn't have been able to do that without your help. had you not saved me, the world would have been shrouded in darkness forever."

"That's what friends are for." she kissed me on the forehead before backing up. Cadence and her placed their hooves over each other's shoulders as I began to dissipate. I burst into small sparkles, and went to join my sister in nothingness.

I fell to the ground and my crown flew across the room. I tried to stand but found it impossible. I dark figure approached me. I looked up to see king Sombra standing above me. "It was quite entertaining how you put up a fight. Too bad you don't have your crystal heart to help you."

"Shut up!" I yelled at him.

"That's no way to treat a king." He swung his hoof and hit me in the stomach. I collapsed to the floor as he laughed. "As much as I like a good game, I'm afraid I don't have the time." His horn began to glow, the dark energy pulsating from it. "is there anything you want to say before I send your soul to oblivion?"

Knowing there was no way out of this, I hung my head and said, "Goodbye Twilight, don't miss me too much." he laughed, and fired the energy he had been building up. I screamed from the pain as my body was slowly destroyed. Sparkles emerged as it happened, sending them flying all over the place. I heard the king scream as I was destroyed.

I lay in my bed, feeling myself begin to fade from this world. The door opened and my daughter, Dawn, came in. "Oh my god!" she yelled, and rushed over to the side of my bed. "Mom, No!" Her eyes filled with tears. "Please! Please don't leave me! I still need you!" tears began to fall onto the bed, as she cried.

"Do not by sad my daughter. Your going to become to take my place as ruler of Equestria."

"But I can't rule without you! I'm not ready."

"No one can be ready. all we can do is try our best."

"Please don't go."

"I wouldn't if I had the choice. don't linger on this. I want you to be happy. every mother wants their child to be happy."

"I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too, Dawn." She gave me a kiss on the cheek, and I began to dissipate. She gasped and stepped back. My body burst into sparkles.

She lunged forward and yelled, "Mommy!" as my spirit passed into oblivion.

"Mommy!" I yelled as I lunged forward. Her sparkles floated out the window and into the vast space outside. I cried in her room until the guards came in. The comforted me and escorted me back to my room. I cried myself to sleep, and dreamed about being alone.

The following week, thousands of ponies gathered in the plaza outside the castle. I stepped out onto the balcony and the crowd fell silent. "One Week ago, my mother Princess Twilight Sparkle, passed away. She was a great mother, wife and ruler. She was always kind, making sure others were happy before she was. Nopony was a good a pony as her. She has touched the lives of us all, and will be missed. As of today, I shall be the new ruler of Equestria, and will follow Princess Twilight's example." I went back into the castle, tears streaming down my face.

I opened my eyes and stared out into the nothingness. I looked left and right, and all I saw was black. I was about to start walking forward when I heard a familiar voice call out behind me, "Twilight!" I turned around to see all my friends and family standing there.

I ran over to them and grabbed Princess Celestia in a big hug. I let her go and said, "Guys! oh my gosh I've missed you so much!"

"We missed you too Twilight," Rainbow Dash said. We all gathered into a group hug, knowing we'd never be separated again.

"So, looks like we've got a lot of catching up to do," rarity said.

"Yes we do." everyone sat around me as I told my story.
