> The Moon's Twilight > by Wanderer D > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Moon’s Twilight Part 1 of 2 By Wanderer D Twilight Sparkle was up past her sleeping time. She gazed up into the night sky, admiring the stars and most importantly, the Moon. She could see the shape of the Mare in the Moon clearly on nights like this, where the celestial body would cast its silvery light over all Equestria. “Goodnight Moon,” The filly whispered, giggling slightly as she greeted the orb. “It’s me, Twilight Sparkle!” Twilight waited for a moment, to see if anypony around her had heard her. “I had a good day today... for the most part,” she said when she had made sure she was alone. Which she should be, after all, this was her room. “Princess Celestia started teaching me ancient Equestrian! She said that it was ind… in… in-dis-pen-sable… indispensable… for learning higher magic!” the unicorn added proudly. She deflated. “But she won’t let me see the spells I could cast yet!” she leaned her elbows on the rail of her balcony and her chin on her hoofs.  “She said I wasn’t ready.” She pouted. “I don’t want to cast them all, I just want to study them!” “Princess Celestia then said ‘it’s like flying to the Sun, Twilight. If you get too close you’ll get burnt!’” the filly looked up at the gentle shine of the Moon. “You know… I think I know why I like you so much, Moon… I can see you without hurting my eyes. I can still be bathed in your light, but I’m not blinded by the intensity of it. You brighten up the night, but I can see all the stars too, the deep dark blue in between them and from time to time falling stars. Somehow, I feel that if I get too close to you, I won’t crash and burn.” Twilight sighed and then yawned. She blinked sleepily. “I… think I should go to bed, Moon. I’m sorry I couldn’t stay up longer… I love the night.” She yawned again and hoped into bed, glad that the weather pegasi had forecast clear skies today, she could leave the windows open to the night air and sky. “Sweet dreams, Moon.” “Sweet Dreams, Twilight.” The unicorn smiled and laid her head on her pillow, closing her eyes. Which snapped open not a second later. “W-what?” Twilight looked around. “W-who said that?! I’m not afraid of you!” she whimpered drawing the covers tighter around her. She heard laughter like silver bells all around her. The room seemed brighter, although not as bright as when the sun came up. It was… moonlight. “I’m sorry if I scared you, Twilight Sparkle.” The voice said. It sounded strong and confident, but somehow calm and reassuring. “I am the Mare in the Moon.” Twilight stared in awe at the moon. “You’re real?!” The replying chuckle was almost ephemeral, just like everything else felt around her.  “Yes. I have been here for about almost a thousand years since I last painted the sky and made the stars glow. But in a few more years I will be able to return.” “Wow,” the filly gushed. “You created all of the night?! I love the night! If I could stay up all night I would, if the night could last longer, I could see you more!” “That is very sweet of you to say, Twilight, but don’t let Celestia hear you saying that. She sent me over here because I wanted ponies to look at the stars and wonder and love them just like you do.” Twilight cringed. “But… that’s not fair! Princess Celestia isn’t like that!” “Maybe not now, Twilight, but a thousand years is a long time,” the Mare in the Moon said, and Twilight thought she saw a silvery glint of light where her ‘eye’ would be. “I’m sorry,” Twilight replied honestly. “Your night is so beautiful! Sure the day is warm and it feeds plants but… the dark gives everything around it so much life! The cool air… the mystical feeling of the moonlight… even the most powerful spells I have heard of can only be cast at night!” “Thank you, Twilight Sparkle,” the Mare in the Moon said. “I am touched by how much you love my night… if Celestia will not teach you some spells, how would you like to be my student? I will teach you everything I know.” “But… I’m already Celestia’s student…” Twilight said, shifting a little. “Don’t worry, you can be my secret student. As long as it’s a secret you can learn more and enjoy the night.” Twilight Sparkle smiled. “I would have two teachers! Yesyesyesyesyes!” she gushed as she jumped in circles in her bed, after a moment she stopped. “But, how will you teach me if you are all the way to the moon?” “It’s simple, Twilight,” the voice answered, and the filly could almost feel the smile of the Mare in the Moon as she spoke. “You just need to cast a very simple spell. It’s an incantation, so it requires little else than your magic. Then, I will be able to see you in your dreams and teach you.” “Okay!” Twilight said excitedly. “I’m ready!” “Then, repeat this… In the name of my magic.” “In the name of my magic,” Twilight repeated dutifully. “In the name of my soul,” Their voices became one as Twilight’s horn glowed softly, while the horn of the Mare in the Moon seemed to sparkle in the night. “The Moon is my love. The Moon is my choice. Let her who rules the night and dreams be my guide; my teacher. I swear allegiance to thee, Queen of the Night, hidden in dreams, feared as a Nightmare. Become one with my body, one with my power and let us walk the path of the Night together!” A brief flash and Twilight passed out in bed. The bottom of her left hoof shone with white light as a small moon materialized on it for the briefest of seconds, then faded. The moonlight dimmed and the wind shifted the curtains a bit. For a few seconds everything was quiet, until a white alicorn landed softly on the balcony. She looked around the room, then up to the moon before carefully making her way to Twilight’s bed. Princess Celestia smiled at the sleeping pony and used her magic to cover her up with the bed sheets.  She walked back to the balcony and gazed at the moon once more. “I felt your magic tonight, sister,” she whispered sadly. “At first I thought you were trying to escape again but… It was… kind. I Wonder… when you come back… will I see my Luna? Or will I only meet the Nightmare?” Slowly closing one of the windows so that there would be less of a draft, Celestia took off into the air, flying to her own room, and leaving Twilight to her dreams, unaware that the little unicorn was dreaming of being embraced by black wings. o.0.o “Moon!” Twilight called as she jumped around in the swirling colors of her dreams. “Hello, Twilight,” Moon’s voice echoed all around her. “Guess what!” “What?” “Remember that dragon I hatched for my entrance exam?” “You mentioned it, yes.” “Well, Celestia has entrusted his care to me!” “Congratulations Twilight!” Moon’s voice sounded pleased. “Dragons are very useful creatures, smart and very strong when they grow up.” “I know! I got this book from the library and it mentioned all about the different types of dragons! Spike is a purple dragon, which is a species known for their magic!” “Spike?” “Yes! That’s how I named him because of the green spikes on his back!” Twilight hesitated. “I wanted to name him ‘Puff’, but the Princess said no self-respecting magic dragon would want to be called that…” Moon chuckled. “Very well, my beloved student, we will talk more about dragons later, for now, we should concentrate on teaching you a new spell.” “Yes!” Twilight cheered. “What spell will you teach me now? That fireball spell was amazing! I’ve started turning on some candles with it…” “Twilight… you have to be careful, remember what happened when you used too much magic for the water-sphere spell?” The unicorn’s head drooped. “Oh… yeah… I had a really long talk with Princess Celestia about trying to use magic to drain a tub… through the wall.” Although she could not see her teacher, she could hear the smile in the voice. “Exactly. Be very careful, especially with fire. Tonight, I will teach you a wind spell, it should help you practice control.” “Yay!” Twilight galloped in a circle excitedly, then stopped. “Moon? I know you said I would be able to see you when I grew in power and control, but, how long will that take?” “It doesn’t matter, Twilight,” Moon said kindly. “I’ll be with you for as long as it takes. But remember, our relationship is a secret, even if you trust your dragon, don’t let him know, it might accidentally tell somepony, after all, it is just a child.” o.0.o “Moon! Moon!” A slightly older Twilight cried into the mist around her. She heard a flap of wings and the blurry black form of an alicorn approached her. “What’s wrong, Twilight?” “Glitter Horn was very mean today!” Twilight whimpered, sitting down on her haunches. “She said that I just got lucky and that I was a freak and that Princess Celestia took me out of pity and…” she growled, her demeanor changed into a more vicious one. “I wanted to blast her with a plasma bolt! I hate her!” “Shush, Twilight…” the alicorn said softly, a wing caressing the filly’s head. “She’s just a bully. Celestia wasn’t wrong to choose you, my student, and neither was I. Glitter Horn’s the jealous sort, just like that other foal, Gold Pot. They are nothing more than a waste of space. Remember how he criticized your essay and said nasty things about it and you later learned that he hadn’t even read it? Remember how we exposed him in front of the class as a liar?” the little unicorn nodded, wiping tears from her eyes. “Well, Twilight, here’s what you must do about that bully Glitter Horn…” o.0.o “Twilight,” Celestia looked down at her student, who shuffled from hoof to hoof nervously. “Why did you do this?” she looked down to the courtyard where Gliter Horn was crying inconsolably. Her coat had been changed to a dull gray and her mane had all but disappeared. The other young unicorns either tried to comfort her without success or laughed at her. The purple unicorn looked down. “She said very mean things about you and me and my parents… I told her to stop and even let the teachers know she was doing it, but nopony did anything,” she looked up at Celestia, half ashamed, half angry. “I was just going to take it, but then… I found out she had been bullying the other unicorns too…” The white alicorn sighed. “Twilight, I enjoy a good prank as much as anypony, and I don’t condone violence of any sort in my school… but don’t you think you went over the top in trying to teach her a lesson?” Twilight whinnied, looking down at the crying unicorn with some regret. “Princess… I only cast a reflective spell.” Celestia’s eyes widened. “You…” she looked down towards the crying unicorn. “Who was she casting the original spell at, then?” “Lyra.” Celestia closed her eyes and sighed. “I have to make sure the library doesn’t contain any more of those spells within easy reach, and I will have a long talk with the teachers.” She looked back at her student. “You did well Twilight.” The purple unicorn smiled. “Thank you!” The Princess turned to walk away, but looked over her shoulder. “Twilight? Where did you learn to cast the reflective spell? It’s not in this year’s curriculum, and I hadn’t thought to teach it to you.” Celestia’s student smiled shyly. “I… might have snuck a book from two years ahead out of the library along with several others of my school year.” She watched the Princess walk away chuckling, her honest smile turning a bit more devious as she looked down at the crying unicorn. “Moon was right, leave a rotten apple in sight and a bully will try to throw it at somepony.” She chuckled as she walked towards her rooms. “Too bad somepony else caught it and sent it hurtling back!” o.0.o “There, there, Twilight…” the alicorn held the unicorn close as she cried and cried. “They’re gone…  mom and d-dad…” Twilight repeated for probably the fourteenth time. “Why did they have to go? I…  I only talked to them once since I started school! I wanted them to see me graduate!” she bawled, sure her tears were soaking the alicorn, who never shifted away or broke her warm embrace. “I- I’m sorry, Moon… I’m getting your coat all wet…” “Cry all you want Twilight… losing some of the most important ponies in our lives is very hard, and you shouldn’t be alone.” The purple unicorn cried a bit longer until eventually her sobs died away. The unicorn pulled back and used the back of her foreleg to wipe away the tears. “I… we should start my studies…” “Are you sure Twilight? You could take a break tonight… maybe wake up and talk to Celestia…” “No…” Twilight sighed. “I love the Princess, but…  I can’t talk to her like I can to you… I’d rather learn something new… take my mind away from it all.” The shadowy alicorn nodded with a smile. “I’ll be glad to help you Twilight.” o.0.o Twilight Sparkle stood in the dreamscape, watching the world change constantly as her thoughts were given substance in the ether of dreams. The library shifted into open sky and then into a garden and then into a cliff and then into a whirlpool… she paid them no heed, having grown used to them in the five years since she had first agreed to have a second teacher. She chuckled when she remembered how she had been so scared the first time she had come here and met her second mentor. Twilight had, of course, delved into studying moon myths with a passion soon after, and had unearthed several other names for the Mare in the Moon, including the one that created the conflicting backgrounds. “I haven’t seen this much chaos in your mind since we first started working together, my beloved student,” a voice echoed all around her, making her blink in surprise. Twilight smiled sheepishly as the world around her shifted to imitate one of the many gardens in Canterlot Castle, it was nighttime and the whole area was bathed in silvery moonlight. “I’m sorry, Moon. I discovered something today and it has been on my mind all day.” “Oh?” “Yes, you see… after we talked last night about your other names I went and did some research…” “I see,” the voice said as a beautiful black alicorn mare shimmered into existence in front of Twilight. She was as tall as Princess Celestia, and just as regal. Her teal-colored eyes had dragon-like pupils, and her mane and tail waved in the air more like a deep purple nebula with thousands of stars in them. “And what did you discover?” “Well…” Twilight’s hoof scratched the floor uncertainly. “I found the story of Nightmare Moon being exiled to the moon by her sister.” The alicorn sighed and laid down next to Twilight, who approached her and lay on the grass with her. “Is it true? Are you really Nightmare Moon?” “Yes,” Moon answered. “I am also called by that name. Before my sister trapped me, my name was Luna.” Twilight’s eyes were teary. “But… you’re not evil, are you?” “… my student, my beloved Twilight…” Nightmare Moon whispered, nuzzling the young pony. “Defining good and evil is not as simple as you might think. Sometimes it’s just about your point of view… I love my night, and I wanted ponies to love it just as much.” Twilight watched her mentor as she lifted her eyes to the dreamscape’s night sky. “I became angry when my sister said that nopony wanted to stay up at night and see my stars. I have told you how much it meant to me, but what you have to understand, Twilight, is that there is more to it than just appreciation… the night is my soul… the moon my heart, the stars my magic, space my strength… only at nighttime can my very self take flight. When I created eternal night, I wanted ponies to start looking not at the darkness… but at the light.” Twilight sniffed and curled up to her teacher. “I’m sorry, Moon.” “It’s okay, Twilight.” Nightmare Moon said with a smile, which grew wider as the stars in the dreamscape twinkled brightly. “Moon?” “Yes?” “There’s another thing I should tell you… especially before you teach me the Rite to learn Shadow Walking… but, I’m afraid.” The Nightmare looked down at the teenage filly. She was not looking at her, an odd thing, since her student had always been able to look at her in the eye… after some insisting. “There’s nothing to fear, Twilight,” Nightmare Moon’s voice was soothing. “Moon… Luna…” Twilight looked up. “I’m sorry…” Nightmare Moon’s blood turned cold. Had Twilight told anypony about her? Celestia perhaps? “I… I love you,” Twilight whispered. Her voice gained strength. “I love you more than anypony... more than I could ever love a teacher… or even a friend. I think I would love you even if you were evil.” The alicorn looked deep into her student’s eyes as the fear of discovery inside her evaporated, hopefully for the last time. It was time, perhaps, to take the next step in her plan… and seducing Twilight had proved much more simpler than she had thought. The unicorn trembled as the alicorn looked at her silently. Did Moon hate her now? Was she going to stop teaching her all those wonderful spells? Her thoughts stopped when the Nightmare leaned down and their lips met. The alicorn gently kissed the unicorn for a whole minute before stopping, noticing the arousal of her pupil. This was a game that she had to be careful about, especially if she wanted to get the most out of Twilight’s magic and loyalty. She wanted Twilight to convert completely, after all. “I love you too, Twilight.” She lied, smiling as her student’s eyes widened and the unicorn melted into an embrace with her. She closed her eyes and smelled the lavender-scented shampoo in her student’s hair. The unicorn’s ability to project into her dreams was indeed amazing. The Nightmare smiled. Her plans to bring night eternal would bear fruit… with the willing aid of her sister’s student, no less. She sighed as she sank onto the embrace. And maybe... maybe she didn’t need to lie this time. o.0.o Twilight lay on her bed, the sheets thrown away, her body covered in sweat as her heart hammered inside her chest. Her hoofs slowly left her lower body to rest on her chest. Her breathing was heavy, her eyes watery as she stared at the ceiling. In the next room, she could hear Spike snoring, thankfully oblivious to what transpired in the room. “Moon…” Twilight sighed as her body trembled from the pleasure recently experienced. Her eyelids slowly lowered as she drifted to sleep… and to meet her beloved. o.0.o “Spike, take note.” Twilight Sparkle ordered as she paced her observatory. “Dear Princess Celestia, I have found important news! My studies have revealed that tonight is the one-thousandth anniversary of your exile of Nightmare Moon, otherwise known as the Mare in the Moon. I have cause to believe that she will be released by the stars, and she will come to Equestria and bring forth eternal night! Therefore it is imperative that we prepare for her arrival! We should find the Elements of Harmony as they were the only magic strong enough to defeat her one thousand years ago.” She walked towards the window, staring at the sky. “I await your quick response. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.” “Got it!” Spike said. “Good. Send it.” “Now? But Twilight… the Princess is very busy planning for the Summer Sun Celebration… and it’s the day after tomorrow!” “But that’s it Spike!” Twilight said with a smile, looking at the dragon from over her shoulder. “The day after tomorrow is the thousand day of the Summer Sun Celebration! That’s when Nightmare Moon will be released!” “You don’t seem terribly bothered by it.” Spike muttered. “Of course not, silly. Now, send that letter, it’s imperative that the Princess is made aware of this fact.” “Okay, okay!” Spike whined using his fire to set the note on fire. “There. Sent. But I wouldn’t expect an answer anytime so-” He was interrupted when he suddenly burped a magical burst of flame that reformed into a scroll. “Told you so,” Twilight said smugly.   o.0.o “Really?” Twilight Sparkle growled as the clouds swept past her and Spike. “Nightmare Moon is coming back to Equestria and Princess Celestia wants me to check on the locals to see if the organization for the event is on schedule and waste time making friends? Pathetic! I don’t need any friends right now!” Spike kept silent, watching Twilight as she growled yet again and her horn glowed with energy. He had gotten used to Twilight’s shifts. Although usually composed, the unicorn had a nasty streak to her that only the two of them really knew about. Twilight was very good at keeping Celestia calm with rational explanations. But the baby dragon had seen her do much more than the benign spells the Princess was teaching her. He didn’t know where the knowledge came from, but Twilight would ‘discover’ a new spell every now and then… and those were the ones she chose to share. More than once he had woken up late at night to see her practicing, her room under a silence spell. She could do things no other unicorn he knew could. He had seen some things that bothered him… they felt, unnatural, completely different from the benign magic that Princess Celestia was teaching her. At least Twilight was being quiet enough in her grumbling that it was doubtful the pegasi flying them to Ponyville would hear her. “Well, it doesn’t matter,” The unicorn concluded. “I will quickly finish this task and go back to study at the library about the Elements of Harmony.” “Is… is Nightmare Moon really as bad as the story says, Twilight?” Spike asked. “Is that why you are looking for the Elements of Harmony? To stop her?” Twilight looked at her assistant for the longest time. “Evil is never as simple as people make it seem, Spike. To some she was evil because she wanted eternal night all over Equestria.” “Eternal night? No sun in the mornings? That’s horrible!” the little dragon gasped. “Maybe,” “What do you mean…” he trailed off as he noticed they were descending. The chariot did a slow loop over Ponyville until it finally stopped on the street. Twilight jumped out, followed by Spike. “Thank you, sirs.” She smiled, letting her tail brush against the side of one of them, making him grin while the other smiled. “Ugh, must you always do that?” Spike sighed. “There’s nothing wrong with flirting, Spike,” Twilight said brightly as she felt the stallions’ eyes on her flank, she intentionally twitched her tail with a devious smile over her shoulder, enjoying their reaction. “As my dear teacher once said, ‘knowing you are sexy doesn’t mean that you should play it down. Don’t be afraid to flirt, be sure of yourself and your strength.’” Spike sighed. “I really don’t know where you get this from, Twilight. I’ve never seen Princess Celestia act like that!” “Then you haven’t paid attention.” She continued walking while Spike stood rooted to the spot. “Wait, what?!” “I said you should pay attention, now, what’s first on the list?” “Uh… what about making friends?” Twilight watched as a pink mare gasped so hard at the sight of her that she floated in mid air before shooting away from them. She looked down at the staring dragon. “I’ll give it some consideration. Tomorrow. Or maybe next week.” Spike blinked. “Are we still going to be here by then?” “No. List?” o.0.o “So… this is Sweet Apple Acres.” Spike said, looking at all the apple trees around them. “I don’t know where they got the name!” He grinned at Twilight, who looked down at him until his smirk disappeared. “Fine. It was a stupid joke anyway.” “It’s okay Spike.” Twilight said sweetly. “Someday you will find somepony that will appreciate your simplistic sense of humor.” The dragon followed her into the farm land. “Really?” “Of course not. You should just quit comedy.” The unicorn muttered. “Now, let’s get this over with.” She looked around until she spotted the mare charging at a tree. In an impressive show of strength and balance, the orange mare turned around and bucked an apple tree. The fruits fell straight into several carefully placed baskets all around her. “Wow,” said Spike. “That’s impressive!” “Indeed,” Twilight observed as they made their way to the mare. “And completely unnecessary. Why did she run towards the tree only to stop completely and then kick?” When they were close enough to the orange mare, Twilight spoke up, extending a hoof. “Hi there! My name is Twilight Sparkle!  I am here to-” “Well, howdy-do, Miss Twilight. A pleasure makin' your acquaintance,” the orange mare said, grabbing her hoof and shaking very, very hard. “I'm Applejack. We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like makin' new friends.” “Yes. Friends,” Twilight deadpanned. “Well, I am in fact here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration. And we were told you're in charge of the food.” “We sure as sugar are. Would you care to sample some?” Applejack offered. Twilight stared at her up and down for a few uncomfortable seconds, making the orange mare look around uncomfortably. “Oh. You mean the food,” Twilight clarified. “Uh… yes,” The apple farmer quirked an eyebrow. “What did y’all think ah was talking about?” “Nothing. Never mind,” Twilight said quickly. “Anyway. We would love to try some samples as long as we do it quickly. We have a lot to do today!” o.0.o “Ugh… I’m never looking at an apple again.” Twilight moaned as she walked slowly into town. “Spike, take note; First order of the new regime, forbid apples from the menu...” “What new regime?” “… just forget it. What’s next?” “Um… weather,” Spike said looking at the list. “There’s a Pegasus called Rainbow Dash who is supposed to be in charge of…” He stopped as Twilight’s horn flared and something smacked head on against an invisible shield around them. “Oof!” a cyan Pegasus with a rainbow-mane carefully stood up. “Sorry about that! I didn’t see you there!” “You should be a little more careful…” Twilight started to say when she took note of the hair. “Rainbow Dash.” “Huh? Do I know you?” the Pegasus asked. “Oh, I’ve heard of you.” “Really? Anything good?” the Pegasus asked excitedly. “I heard that you were supposed to clear the clouds over Ponyville,” Twilight replied, looking up at the sky. She sighed. “I'm Twilight Sparkle and the Princess volunteered me to check on the weather.” Rainbow Dash had flown up to a low hanging cloud and was just lying back on it. “Yeah, yeah. That'll be a snap. I'll do it in a jiffy, just as soon as I'm done practicing.” The purple unicorn looked at the Pegasus quizzically. “Practicing for what?” “The Wonderbolts.” The winged pony answered matter-of-fact.” They're gonna perform at the celebration tomorrow, and I'm gonna show 'em my stuff.” “The Wonderbolts?” “Yup.” “Currently the most talented flyers in all of Equestria?” “That's them,” The Pegasus nodded. Twilight Sparkle rolled her eyes. “Please. They'd never accept a pegasus who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day.” “Hey!” Rainbow Dash growled. “I could clear the sky in ten seconds flat.” “Prove it.” The Pegasus shot her a glare, but then proceeded to zoom past them, kicking and punching through all the clouds in sight. Twilight kept a mental countdown of the seconds, but couldn’t help but be impressed by the flyer’s speed. “Loop-de-loop around and WHAM!” Rainbow Dash called as she landed. “What'd I say? Ten. Seconds. Flat. I'd never leave Ponyville hanging.” She smirked as she saw Twilight’s surprised look. “Ha ha, you should see the look on your face. Ha, you're a laugh, Twilight Sparkle. I can't wait to hang out some more.” With that the Pegasus flew away. “Wow. That was really impressive,” Spike said, clearly as impressed as his words. “Yes, but if she had planned ahead she could have shaved off a couple of seconds,” Twilight said after a moment. “Her pattern was too random…” “… yeah… let’s check on the decorations…” Spike interrupted, pushing Twilight towards the Town Hall. o.0.o Later that day o.0.o “Finally!” Twilight groaned as she slammed the door on the pink-mane Pegasus’ face, encasing them in pitch-black darkness. “The Library. A supposed sanctuary of peace and quiet where I can further my research on the Elements without crazy ponies trying to make friends.” “Oh, come on, Twilight! It wasn’t so bad!” Spike answered, trying to see his caregiver.  “You’re right. It was worse!” the unicorn growled. “I’ve half a mind to slow-roast everypony. Now, you, the pink pony from earlier. Turn on the lights and let’s get this over with!”  “SURP-” The lights flicked on and a crowd of ponies, including Rarity, Applejack and Rainbow Dash began to shout, but when Twilight’s words sank in they all stared at her. “H-how did you know?” Rainbow Dash asked. “It was completely dark in here!” “I have very good night vision,” Twilight said. “It was part of my training.” “Oh…” “Aaanyway!” the pink earth pony from earlier jumped eagerly next to Twilight, oblivious to the dangerous crackle of energy on the unicorn’s horn. “Hi. I'm Pinkie Pie and I threw this party just for you. Were you surprised, were you, were you? Huh huh huh? “… I was…” Twilight struggled for the words. “Uh…” she looked at the eager expression on her new acquaintance and sighed. “Yes. Very much so,” She lied. “You see, I saw you when you first got here, remember? You were all, looking around, and I was all, gasp! Remember? You see I never saw you before, and if I never saw you before that means you're new, 'cause I know every pony, and I mean every pony in Ponyville, and if you're new, then it meant you haven't met anyone yet, and if you haven't met anyone yet, you must not have any friends, and if you don't have any friends then you must be lonely, and that made me so sad, and I had an idea, and that's why I went:” she repeated her actions earlier in the day. “I'll just throw a great big ginormous super-duper spectacular welcome party and invite everyone in Ponyville. See? And now you have lots and lots of friends. “ Twilight mostly ignored the Pink pony as she looked around and subsequently poured herself a drink. She levitated the cup and brought it to her lips, just as Applejack took a look at the label. “Twilight! Wait, that’s…” But she was too late. Twilight had downed the cup and it was obvious something was happening to her. Her body trembled and then… “Burp!” an orange flame engulfed Pinkie Pie’s face, leaving it covered in soot. “Oops. Sorry. I haven’t drank hot sauce straight in quite a while.” The ponies looked in shock as Pinkie smiled despite the soot. “Isn’t it delicious?!” o.0.o As soon as she had been able to, Twilight had slipped out of the Library’s main floor and up to her temporary room. She laid back on the bed and watched as the stars slowly moved towards the moon. “Soon…” she whispered, her heart fluttering. She looked down at her hoof as the crescent moon symbol on it palpitated with energy. “I will finally be with you for real… I’ll leave behind everything else I love for you…” she sighed as her hoofs ran down her body. “Just please… don’t ever leave me.” She looked up at the moon once more. The door to her room opened and the unicorn sighed as Spike walked in with a lamp shade over his head. “Hey, Twilight! There you are! You should come down! Everypony is having a great time! We’re about to play Pin the Tail on the Pony! Wanna play?” “No!” Twilight growled. “All the ponies in this town are crazy! How can they expect me to dream about- I mean, study on the elements while they are partying downstairs?! Do you even know what time it is?!” “It's the eve of the Summer Sun Celebration. Everypony has to stay up or they'll miss the Princess raise the sun. You really should lighten up Twilight... It's a party,” The little dragon said. “Whatever.” Twilight rolled her eyes. “Here I thought I have time to learn more about the Elements of Harmony, but, silly me, all this ridiculous friend-making has kept me from it!” she growled. “Tonight’s the night! The Princess should know it!” Spike perked up when he heard the door to the library open and the sound of several ponies trotting out. “Come on, Twilight! It’s time to watch the sunrise!” Twilight shook her head as she followed the excited dragon. “Hopefully not.” o.0.o Soon after walking in, Spike found himself standing next to a hyperactive Pinkie Pie and a grumbling Twilight Sparkle. “Isn’t this exciting?” The pink earth pony asked the unicorn. “Are you excited, 'cause I'm excited, I've never been so excited, well, except for that time that I saw you walking into town and I went,” she gasped again “but I mean really, who can top that?” “I’ve seen this every year since I became the Princess’ student.” Twilight stated. “You know, what would be really exciting?” “What?” “If the sun did not rise!” the unicorn replied with a grin. “Now, that would be a change.” Pinkie Pie blinked. “Yeah! I can see your point! And parties that last all night would last forever!” Twilight blinked. This was the first time in years she wasn’t sure that bringing eternal night was a good idea. “Uh… yeah.” She turned to look out the window as the stars were just about to touch the moon. The Mayor stood in front of everypony. “Fillies and gentlecolts, as mayor of Ponyville, it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Sun Celebration.” As the crowds cheered, Twilight felt the energy of the moon increasing inside of her. She pressed her hoof down to quell the strong light it was sure to be emitting now. “In just a few moments our town will witness the magic of the sunrise, and celebrate the longest day of the year. And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon each and every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Equestria-” Twilight saw the stars finally touch the moon. “Yes…” she whispered, turning to look at the balcony as everypony eagerly awaited the curtains to be opened. “Princess Celestia!” the Mayor announced. The curtains were pulled back, but to everypony’s shock there was nopony there! The purple unicorn smiled. “Remain calm, everypony. There must be an explanation for this…” the Mayor said nervously. Rarity, who had pulled the curtains open peeked behind them. “She’s gone!” Everypony stopped as laughter filled the room. A black swirl of magical energy, glistening with power and the light of stars gathered in the balcony. The ponies gasped as it became a black alicorn. Nightmare Moon smiled viciously at the gathered ponies. “Oh, my beloved subjects. It's been so long since I've seen your precious little sun-loving faces.” Nightmare Moon chuckled. Predictably, it was Rainbow Dash who reacted first. “What did you do with our Princess?” the Pegasus shouted as she tried to fly up to the alicorn. She was stopped by Applejack, who bit the Pegasus’ tail to stop her mid take-off “Whoa there, Nelly!” Nightmare Moon grinned. “Why, am I not Royal enough for you?” she looked angrily at the crowd. “Don't you know who I am?” Pinkie Pie bounced at the chance. “Ooh! Ooh! More guessing games! Um... Hokey Smokes! How about Queen Meanie? No! Black Snooty, Black Snooty!” The alicorn ignored the outburst and looked around, annoyed. “Does my crown no longer count, now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years? Did you not recall the legend? Did you not see the signs?” A purple unicorn stepped forward. “I did,” she said, drawing gasps from those around her and incredulous looks from her five new ‘friends’ “and I know who you are. You're the Mare in the Moon. Nightmare Moon!” The alicorn smirked. “Twilight Sparkle.” The fact that Nightmare Moon knew Twilight’s name did not go unnoticed. Everypony in the room stepped back from the unicorn in surprise and fear. Twilight smiled cockily. “At your service,” she nodded briefly. The ponies were in awe. “She’s brave!” someone whispered to Applejack, who could only nod. The Mare in the Moon laughed. “It shouldn’t surprise me to see Celestia’s prized pupil here tonight.” She looked straight at Twilight and winked. “Well then, you’re coming with me!” Twilight was suddenly enveloped in a black shadow, obscuring her from sight. When it faded away, she was gone. Nightmare Moon chuckled. “Remember this day, little ponies, for it was your last. From this moment forth, the night will last forever!” she laughed as she became a magic mist again and snaked out of the Town Hall. “Come back here!” Rainbow Dash shouted as she followed the mist out of the hall, but by then it had already made it to the Everyfree Forest. “Nighttime? Forever?” “Rainbow Dash!” someone shouted from below. She looked down to see Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy all looking at her. The cream colored Pegasus had Twilight’s little dragon on her back. “Come back here, let’s go to the library and wake up Spike!” o.0.o “Luna!” Celestia called as mist reformed into Nightmare Moon. “Let me go, please! We can work this out peacefully!” the Princess was bound by pitch-black chains that drained her strength and magic to the point of making her useless. “Still singing the same old song, sister?” the black alicorn taunted. “I would have thought that by now you’d know that would not work.” “Please…” whatever Celestia was going to say was cut short by the appearance of a black chain around her muzzle. “Shush now, big sister. I have something to show you… but you shouldn’t be seen… no.” Celestia felt the familiar tingle of magic settling around her, recognizing immediately an alicorn invisibility spell being cast on her. She didn’t dare move as Nightmare Moon cast another spell on her, which she recognized as a spell to prevent anypony from hearing her. She wondered what the Nightmare was planning until Twilight Sparkle walked out of the shadows. Celestia struggled against the chains, her eyes wild with fear for her student as Nightmare Moon turned to face her. o.0.o Twilight emerged into a large room, looking around curiously. It was clearly an old bedchamber in a castle. She had seen her teacher’s chambers enough times to know what befitted royalty and what didn’t. She looked up at Nightmare Moon, who was watching her in silence. The unicorn walked slowly towards the alicorn until they were just a few steps away from each other. Invisible to her student, Celestia trembled. She was amazed by Twilight’s bravery in approaching a legendary evil like that… but she didn’t know how dangerous the alicorn truly was! She had to save her student! Twilight inclined her head to the side, her hoof lifting towards the Nightmare. Celestia tensed, but then… Nightmare Moon leaned towards the hoof, closing her eyes and allowing the unicorn to touch her armor, then her face, then run her hoof through her starry mane. Celestia’s mouth would be hanging open if it wasn’t chained shut. “It’s… it’s really you… Nightmare Moon,” Twilight whispered, although Celestia was able to hear every word. The white alicorn was very confused. What was happening here? When Twilight leaned in and nuzzled the Nightmare, Celestia’s heart gave a lurch. “Yes,” The black alicorn whispered with a kindness that Celestia had not heard from her since before her transformation. “I’m here Twilight.” Tears were flowing unheeded from the gifted unicorn’s eyes. “I’ve so wanted to feel you like this… the real you, not in the dreamscape or in my daydreams.” And then she kissed Nightmare Moon. Celestia ceased struggling at that exact moment, her eyes wide and her mind blank as her student made out with her fallen sister. It was clear that the Nightmare was returning the kiss just as fervently as her student was giving it. She felt suddenly very jealous of Nightmare Moon. Twilight moaned as the alicorn proceeded to kiss her face and neck. The unicorn reciprocated, planting her own warm kisses on the other’s neck.   The alicorn took the initiative, slowly pushing Twilight back to the bed, which was enveloped in a magical field that returned it to its previous, immaculate state. Twilight let herself be pushed back, slowly leaning back as soon as her flanks touched the edge of the bed. Nightmare Moon’s kisses were on her chest now, slow and purposeful as her hoof came up and slowly pushed Twilight until she was lying on her back. Celestia felt herself floating as her position in the room changed thanks to Nightmare Moon, so that she had the best angle to look at what was happening. She felt flushed and embarrassed both at what she was witnessing as well as her reaction to it. “Luna...” Twilight moaned as Nightmare Moon’s muzzle finally reached between her hind legs. Her body arched ever so slightly, her fore hoofs dragged the bed sheets around her as she gasped. Nightmare Moon took a deep breath, relishing the smell of the horny unicorn. Even in the dreamscape it was nothing more than a pale comparison. She closed her eyes, she had waited far too long for this. The fact that her sister was watching just made it even more delicious. Her tongue touched the folds of Twilight’s vagina with such tenderness that the unicorn almost melted immediately, when it went deeper before being dragged out and up, slowly sliding over her clit, the young mare could do nothing but shiver and groan, raising her body to try and press it more against Nightmare Moon’s tongue. Twilight’s heart beat faster than ever before. Even when she had pleasured herself, she had never imagined something like this, much less felt anything like it. Not even the pleasure spells, not even the dreamscape and the countless nights she had made love to Nightmare Moon in her mind had prepared her for something like this. The Nightmare took her time, both for her own and Twilight’s enjoyment, as well as the pleasure of knowing what effect it was having on her dear sister. “Oh, Moon...” Twilight moaned again as her body began to shudder. “Moon... I’m cumming... I’m cumming...” And the Nightmare could feel it, every lick sent the purple unicorn into a sudden explosion of ecstasy. The unicorn’s legs wrapped around Nightmare Moon’s neck pulling her closer, and she complied, digging her tongue in while Twilight screamed her name. She could feel Twilight’s vaginal walls pressing around her tongue; the taste of the purple unicorn now somehow creamier than before. Finally Twilight slumped back and released her hold, breathing hard and moaning in content. Nightmare Moon shot a glance at her sister, noticing with pleasure the wet spot on the floor right under Celestia’s flanks. Nightmare Moon slowly crawled up Twilight’s body, letting her soft fur tickle the unicorn’s clit and causing Twilight to shudder with almost painful pleasure until they both could kiss. “You are delicious, my dear Twilight...” Nightmare Moon whispered between deep breaths. “I have never tasted something so pure... never has anypony surrendered to me as you have.” Twilight’s eyes fluttered open as she stared lovingly at her dream mare. “I want to taste you,” she whispered simply as she slid down under Nightmare Moon, kissing her way down and making the alicorn tremble with anticipation as Twilight finally reached the end of the bed and slid out completely. It was then that Nightmare Moon felt something tug at her magic. She groaned as she slid off the bed herself, looking apologetically at Twilight Sparkle, who looked at her in confusion. “I am sorry Twilight... but there seem to be visitors at the castle...” Nightmare Moon frowned, licking her lips absently. “Celestia damnit!” Twilight hit the floor hard with her hoof. “I’ve waited too long for this! I’ll kill them!” Nightmare Moon chuckled. “Careful, Twilight, Celly could be listening.” Twilight gave her a look. “Let’s go greet our guests,” Nightmare Moon suggested. Twilight nodded, fading into the shadows. Shooting her sister an amused look, Nightmare Moon became mist once more and left Celestia alone, aroused and confused. End Part 1 To Be Concluded... > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Moon's Twilight's Chapter 2 By Wanderer D Celestia struggled against the chains. It had taken her a few minutes to shake off her incredulity and shock at her student's unexpected relationship with Nightmare Moon. She sighed and forced herself to calm down. The chains fed off her magic, and Nightmare Moon knew her chains. Celestia blushed under her coat. Nightmare Moon knew her chains very well indeed. But that didn't mean that they were indestructible. Just like there were no absolutes for anything else, there was always a weaker link... even if it was incredibly strong. She took deep breaths, trying to force herself to not pay attention to the smell of Twilight's arousal, which still lingered in the room. Carefully extending her senses, she probed link by link trying to find out which one would give. “I guess I would have done the same,” Twilight said, startling Celestia out of her concentration. “Trying to find the weakest link, right?” she asked, walking out of the shadows. “I can't believe she actually tried to make you invisible... maybe any other unicorn might have missed it, but I'm too familiar with both your magic and her's to not have noticed!” Celestia said nothing, studying her former student in carefully concealed surprise. Not that she could have said anything with her muzzle chained shut. “I think you'll find it soon, I'm sure of it,” Twilight said, pushing some chains to the side. “Luna was a bit hasty with these ones.” She walked in front of Celestia and gave her a small smile. “Oh, come on, don't give me that look, I know you enjoyed the show. In fact, I can smell it.” Twilight walked behind Celestia and pushing the sun-goddess' tail to the side, she sniffed loudly. “Yep. You enjoyed it,” she laughed, giving Celestia's lips a quick peck, which made her jump. Twilight chuckled and lay down next to Celestia, who stared at her for a moment, before laying down herself, looking expectantly at Twilight. “I guess you want to know, huh?” Twilight sighed. “She didn't bespell me or anything like that, if you're wondering. I've known Luna for years now, we've been friends, teacher and student and well... at one point I fell in love with her.” She grinned. “Oh and she's soooo good at going down on me. That was... I have no words!” Celestia rolled her eyes. “Oh, come on,” Twilight grinned. “You know she is.” Celestia did not betray any thoughts, but her eyes widened when Twilight stood up, cantered to just in front of her and lowered herself, down, lifting her tail and planting herself just within reach of Celestia's mouth. She could smell Twilight and unconsciously she moved just a little bit forward. “You can't talk much,” Twilight breathed, “But I'm sure you can poke your tongue out? Don't tell me you haven't wanted this. I noticed your looks, ever since I came of age. If Luna hadn't been coaching me in the art of seduction, I would have been completely unaware. But I know what you want, and I'm giving it to you right now. You don't have to feel shame. I love you, and I love Luna. You both have shared before, haven't you?” Celestia struggled with what she was hearing, with the smell of Twilight, how inviting she looked, wet and ready for her tongue. But, could she just give up and surrender to this? Celestia gulped and slowly leaned forward, her tongue poking out and taking in the first taste that she had so wanted for the last four years. From the shadows, hidden from her sister, Nightmare Moon's grin grew when Twilight moaned and pushed herself more onto Celestia's mouth. Her sister hadn't even noticed when her muzzle chains had come off. o.0.o “I really don't like this dreadful place,” Rarity said, looking around the crumbling ruins. She stepped on something squishy and her eyebrow twitched. Looking down, she slowly raised her hoof, which trailed behind it a long, green, sticky substance. “Eek!” She quickly scratched it off. “Correct that, I really HATE this place!” “I ain't too fond of it myself, sugarcube,” Applejack replied. “But there ain't much we can do about it right now. Twilight needs us! “Are you girls kidding?!” Pinkie Pie asked, jumping from behind a pile of broken rocks. “This place is great! Look at all the hiding places! Can you imagine playing tag here? Or hide and seek?” She gasped. “Do you think we could organize the next annual Ponyville Hide and Seek competition here?” “Pinkie Pie, we don't have an annual Hide and Seek competition,” Rainbow Dash pointed out. “We do now!” Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and looked at Fluttershy. “You doing okay, Shy?” “I'm... um... okay... I think,” Fluttershy replied, peeking out from behind some rubble and looking about quickly. “I just wish that we could find Twilight and get out of here. But... with Nightmare Moon around I don't know how dangerous this is, just that it is and... well... I just want to go home.” Rainbow Dash looked at Applejack and shrugged. “My, my, my...” Nightmare Moon laughed. “What do we have here? Would-be rescuers?” Nightmare Moon chuckled, materializing from the shadows right behind Fluttershy. The pegasus' eyes widened and she was gone in an instant, hiding behind Applejack, who was glaring at Nightmare Moon. “Not, 'would-be', but 'will-be'!” Rainbow Dash announced, turning for a moment to look at Rarity. “That's how it should be said right? I didn't say something stupid, right?” “Rainbow Dash, I'm sure we wouldn't be able to tell the difference,” Rarity replied. “Right!” Rainbow Dash stated, and turned to face Nightmare Moon. “And we're here to stop you!” Nightmare Moon tilted her head. “Stop me from doing what, exactly?” “Whatever it is that you're doin' to Princess Celestia and Twilight Sparkle!” Applejack stated. Nightmare Moon raised an eyebrow. “I'm not doing anything to them.” “Where are they then?” Applejack demanded. “Ah ain't gonna trust your word just like that!” “I think they're busy,” Nightmare Moon said. Her horn glowed and the sound of moans and grunts echoed in the room. “O-oo-oh... Celestia...” Twilight's voice filled the room. “Y-yes, right there... ooooh.” The five ponies hesitated, some blushing, some amazed, but all wide-eyed. Nightmare Moon's magic died away and the moans died just as Celestia's voice replied. “Twilight... push s-slowwwwer!” “Yes,” Nightmare Moon nodded. “Busy.” “I don't get it!” Pinkie Pie bounced up to Nightmare Moon. “It sounds like they're having fun!” She turned to look at the others. “What's wrong with having moaning, wet, intense, steamy fun?” Rarity cleared her throat. “Eternal night?” “Well, I don't care if Twilight and Celestia are h-having... I don't care if they're enjoying each other's... company!” Rainbow Dash growled. “We're here to stop you and that's final! You can't simply foalnap Twilight so that she can have sex with Celestia! She's a sweet, loyal servant... uh... concubine of Celestia's!” Nightmare Moon shook her head. “Foals, all of you.” She laughed. “I didn't foalnap Twilight! She's been my apprentice and lover for a long time!” “I knew she was a spy!” Rainbow Dash muttered, slamming one hoof on the other. “But you just said—” Fluttershy raised a hoof. “I said I knew she was a spy!” “Meep!” “Now, calm down, y'all!” Applejack called. “Even if Twilight was your servant all along—” “A most delicious and moany servant,” Nightmare Moon interjected. “...yes, that too,” Applejack fanned her face with her hat for a second before placing it back on her head. “That don't explain why you're all calm and even sort of friendly now!” “Heeeey!” Pinkie Pie gasped. “That's true! Whenever there's stories about you during Nightmare Night, they say really horrible things about what you will do to Equestria when you returned! Like, taking all the candy!” “And ripping our souls out to eat them,” Rarity added. “Or torturing ponies to hear their screams of pain like music!” Rainbow Dash added. “Or, create a huge harem of ponies to take advantage of and be worshiped as a goddess of sex, lust and sexual deviancy. I've spent a lot of time and money building you a shrine!” Fluttershy muttered accusingly. “I heard that,” Nightmare Moon winked. “Meep! I-I mean... Oh... my...” “Or razing the forests and cities to the ground with giant fireballs of screaming souls that will emerge from the flames to kill whoever survives and feast on their corpses while those whom you favor laugh at the bloody and depraved sport of watching zombies tear living ponies apart!” Applejack stated. She looked at the others. “What? Granny Smith has very specific visions of the Ponypocalypse.” Nightmare Moon had been nodding. “Well, yes all of that is true...” Pinkie gasped once more. “Even the candy? You're eeevil!” “...or it would be, except for something that happened a few years ago.” Nightmare Moon stated. “What happened?” Fluttershy dared to ask. “Twilight did.” o.0.o There had been a moment, that same night, when Celestia had been tied by chains. Her thoughts had been of escape and confronting Nightmare Moon. That was not the case anymore. Twilight's hooves tenderly pushed back the foreskin over Celestia's clitoris which quivered expectantly, engorged and ready for attention. Her tongue touched it and drew a long, slow lick over it, pressing down so that the sensitive skin around the bud would feel the texture of her tongue. Twilight breathed in the smell of Celestia's pussy, drew in the heat from between her legs and leaned forward, following her tongue's trail upwards so that she could bury her tongue between those soft lips. She groaned, gyrating her crotch around Celestia's hoof, which was massaging her own pussy in slow, perfect circles, from time to time pushing against her entrance in just the right way. Although Celestia had made her cum more than once already, the Sun Goddess loved to take her time and dedicate as much attention to pleasuring her student. With renewed vigor, she licked, pushing her tongue as deep into Celestia as she possibly could, enjoying the taste so much. Her nose rubbed the area between Celestia's vagina and anus, making the princess gasp and squirm, but to her credit, she never stopped paying attention to Twilight's pleasure. Another link of the chain slowly faded away. “Twilight,” Celestia moaned. “W-why did you join Nightmare Moon's side? Why—oooh yess—didn't you t-tell me about y-your link to her?” Twilight withdrew from Celestia's pussy, licking her chops and eliciting a disappointed moan that faded away when her horn lit up with magic and suddenly Celestia was experiencing a very thorough massage of every inch of her pussy and ass as wave after wave of magic licked her almost as deliciously as Twilight's tongue and even penetrated her and went deeper with still that sense of being licked. Celestia's tongue lolled out of her mouth, and her eyes rolled up while a goofy smile on her lips grew and grew. She could barely understand what was happening as her body quivered with a series of orgasms that would not stop. They were not as intense as the first one, but it was a comfortable looooong amount of shuddering pleasure. “She helped me grow up,” Twilight explained, taking a moment to bite playfully at Celestia's belly and grinning when Celestia gasped and her body shook before returning to the twitching reaction of her spell. “Just like you... and she taught me that there's no such thing as a completely evil mare... she was alone, you see.” She nuzzled Celestia's cutie mark and watched another chain disappear. “Just like I noticed you were.” o.0.o The Dreamscape wobbled, staying barely cohesive as the last of Twilight's orgasm faded into a pleasant warmth. “Luna?” Twilight asked, slumping down, her imaginary self covered in sweat. She was having a hard time keeping herself together after Luna had made love to her for the very first time. It wasn't physical... but it sure felt like it! “Hmm... yes, Twilight?” “Why did you have to be sent to the Moon?” “...I have a vision of Equestria, Twilight, a vision not ruled by the constricting morals created by the sense of 'justice' of a bunch of old unicorns and the limited, conservative and unbending perspective of Earth Ponies of old... There's more to the Night than a simple lack of the Sun. Or the need to sleep. Night... that's when you can let go; when you can dream and love; when the light of day is not burning on you or leaving you open for everyone to see. Night is secrets and passion, the type of passion that belongs to you alone and those ponies that you want to share it with, unhindered and unchained, where loving and being sexual is sensual and mysterious.” Twilight frowned. “But ponies have sex all the time. Day or night. It doesn't matter.” “Now they do, a bit more,” Luna nodded, playfully biting Twilight's ear and earning a few giggles. “But passion, true passion can only be achieved with shadows and light, when the allure of the unseen invites you to explore. When your eyes are not completely reliable, and you turn to your other senses to help. The smell of your partner, the feel of their fur, the taste of their lips, their skin, their sweat...the sound of their gasps, or the speeding up of their heartbeat... the Day won't let you experience that fully like the night does.” “I think I can see that,” Twilight whispered, nuzzling Luna's starry mane. “But, why would they hate your Night then?” Luna laughed, tracing her hoof down Twilight's back. “Those stuffy old unicorns and those Earth Ponies... they hated the Night... the latter because they feared secrets and what they could not see, and the former because they couldn't control passion.” She looked down at her lover. “It was a different time, when nobles would control the populace by limiting what they knew. By Day, it was easy... nighttime? No to much.” “And is that the only reason?” “Of course not, Twilight. That was the fertile ground upon which my hatred thrived and grew. For, as I grew to despise all those that sought to limit and control my subject's love for me and the Night, so it was that I began to look down on my subjects for giving in too easily. “I gathered my forces, those loyal to the Night, those that were prosecuted for not submitting to the edicts of those... zealots, and I made my case to Celestia. But her power had grown, and the zealots viewed her as the absolute proof that their views were right. Her coat was as white as could be, her domain was the light of the Sun which scared away the shadows and those that would hide in them. They had gotten to her, and they convinced her that they were right and by extension their will became hers. When my followers and I spoke to her... she accused me of sedition and hating our subjects. She exiled me and ordered me to do nothing but my duty of bringing up the Moon... we withdrew, but not to cower, no... we searched for the Griffin and Dragons; Timberwolves and Manticores, serpents and even changelings. All of those that hunted under the moon or thrived in secrets and passions. “I allowed my anger and hatred to feed my power and became Nightmare Moon, and, forcing the night through these powers, I wrestled the Day from Celestia and buried it away. It was time for the Night to rule.” Luna's eyes flashed. “And this time, I'll make it last forever!” Her decisive face crumbled when Twilight curled up to her. “It sounds wonderful,” she whispered. “A time when we can give in to what we love? To magic and lust... to crazy ideas and secret moments... but what about Celestia?” Luna frowned. “My sister will stand in our way. Although she is not the same zealot she was before, she doesn't understand. She controls herself at the expense of her love. She doesn't believe in being selfish, even for once... even-even at Night.” Twilight giggled. “Maybe, but that doesn't mean that she has no needs,” she said, turning and resting her chin on Luna's back. “I've caught her looking, you know?” Luna snorted. “Looking at what?” “Me,” Twilight whispered. “She's really good at appearing nonchalant about it if I'm not quick enough to catch her. But sometimes, just sometimes, I've noticed her staring at my flank or leaning in a bit more, or even holding me a bit longer than usual.” “It has been a long, long time since my sister gave in to anything like that,” Luna wondered. “Perhaps, all she needs to do is remember the night.” Twilight's eyes shone with mischief. “You know, she's really not bad looking.” Luna laughed. “Are you proposing we seduce her?” “Would you rather have her as an enemy?” Twilight shrugged. “She trapped me for a thousand years in the Moon, Twilight.” Luna reminded her. “I know,” Twilight sighed. “But... Luna, I love her too... just like you, she's been here for me, she's taken me under her wing and... well, she would have made me a prude, but you saved me.” “I cannot, in all honesty imagine you as a prudish mare, Twilight. Awkward and naïve doesn't suit you.” “Who knows what would have happened if you hadn't called to me that night?” Luna chuckled. “I want to overthrow my sister and rule in her stead.” “And I want you to succeed.” Twilight nodded. “And yet, you don't want me to cast her away?” “I just don't want to lose either of you,” Twilight confessed. “I love you both, and I want you both.” “You dare speak like that to Nightmare Moon herself? Demand that I give up my revenge? What have you to offer that would compensate for a thousand years trapped in the moon?” “Our love, for you and your night, for as long as you'll have us,” Twilight said promptly. “You can promise Celestia will surrender herself to me?” Luna asked. “That is a bold promise, Twilight. What if you fail?” “I won't and...” “And?” “Whatever happens, you'll always have mine.” Nightmare Moon stared at the young mare lying on her back. She remained silent, calculating and conniving and finding in the end... o.0.o “... that I had fallen in love with her and could not deny her request.” Nightmare Moon grudgingly admitted. “So...” Pinkie Pie blinked. “You're saying Twilight Sparkle is up there, in your bedroom, having wild sex with your sister who hasn't gotten laid in more than a thousand years?!” She turned to look at the others. “Girls, we have to go help her!” “Wow. Hold on. Ah ain't got nothin' against a good ol' roll in the hay,” Applejack said, “But—“ “Hm, roll in the hay, she says,” Rarity huffed. “...or in Rarity's bed,” Applejack amended. Another huff. “Or the Twin's backroom,” Applejack added. What about my.... “Or Fluttershy's hut,” Applejack sighed. Rainbow Dash smirked. “Or Big Mac's—” “Hold it there, Rainbow, that's mah brother you're bringing into this conversation, and your know that ain't happenin'. He know's bare-backing ain't the way to go until marriage.” Nightmare Moon frowned. “Wait, does that mean that you woul—” “AND! Going back to th' subject matter at hoof, there's no way Ah'm gonna go up there and assist in seducing our Princess to the dark side!” Nightmare Moon glanced at Rainbow Dash. “I notice she did not mention you.” “Eh, I'm not into mares. So...” Rainbow Dash ventured. “I guess Twilight's pretty good in the sack, then?” Nightmare Moon smirked. “She created a spell. I like to call it 'the thousand tongues of Twilight'. It makes you feel like she's licking you all over, outside and inside... really slowly and with just the right pressure... all at the same time.” The gathered mare's eyes widened in shock. Pinkie Pie started drooling. “Girls,” Applejack turned to the others. “We've got to help Twilight turn Celestia to the dark side.” “Right!” the other four shouted. “I thought you weren't into mares?” Nightmare Moon asked Rainbow Dash. “I-I might have spoken a bit too soon,” Rainbow Dash admitted, fidgeting a little. “Inside and outside, soft, firm, fast and slow at the same time?” Nightmare Moon laughed. “Yes, but as much as I would like to encourage this kind of behavior, Celestia and Twilight are making love. This is their time. Until I join them. The four of you should return to Ponyville for now.” “Awww...” Pinkie Pie pouted. “Ah guess there's nothin' else to it. Come on, girls, let's head back home.” Applejack sighed, leading the group out of the castle. Nightmare Moon blinked. “It actually worked.” Her grin twisted into an evil, mischievous, smile. “Twilight, you incorrigible mare.” o.0.o “So, how is my sister doing?” Nightmare Moon asked, slowly fading into the room. Twilight, lying on her side on Nightmare Moon's bed, looked up and smiled, nodding to the completely free Celestia, who was sleeping on the floor, a smile on her face. Thin chain-like marks flowed around her coat, almost looking like tribal markings, but no actual chains held her in place. “She's free of her chains, even if they will take some time to fade away,” Twilight whispered. Nigthmare Moon nodded. “And the mark?” Twilight's magic levitated Celestia's hoof carefully, presenting the underside to Nightmare Moon, who tapped it with her horn. A glowing, silvery moon shone into view, dimming and increasing in force in time with Celestia's breathing. Nightmare Moon nodded, gently lowering Celestia's hoof down. “Twilight Sparkle,” she whispered. “You've given me everything I could ever wish for. You even gave me my sister back... she accepted the night and my dominion over her with no violence and by giving in to her passions.” She nuzzled the unicorn and kissed her softly in the lips, lingering there for a moment and pulling back slowly, smiling as Twilight leaned over, trying to taste her lips again. “How can I ever repay you?” Twilight smiled and pushed the princess gently onto her back on top of the bed. “There is only one thing I want, my princess...” she whispered, kissing Nightmare Moon's neck and chest, and slowly making her way down. “And it's to spend my life loving you. Please let me start now.” Nightmare Moon nodded and closed her eyes, leaning her head back and gasping with each small kiss. Truly, she thought to herself, Twilight is the only one to bridge night and day. Soon enough all her thoughts fled as her body and soul reacted to Twilight's love. Her last thought, before bliss consumed her was that of any nights, this one night, should last forever. o.0.o The End o.0.o
