Join our favorite Ponyville dentist as she comes face to face with a terrifying whale
Colgate's dentist work will extend to the depths of the ocean as she encounters a gigantic whale named Monstro. She might find herself in a pickle until she makes a surprising discovery.
*note: This is something I am working on while working with Dumbo's adventures.
Colgate is a very talented unicorn who lived in Ponyville. She works as a dentist and makes sure everypony has clean teeth while having the special ability to bend time and space. She has been doing her job ever since she built her own dental clinic. Life was simple, but Colgate was unaware that she will embark on a dangerous quest. One day, a special pony came into the clinic. Her name is Zecora and she is a zebra that lived deep in the Everfree forest and speaks in rhyme. Colgate was very surprised to see Zecora since she helped her find her true destiny becoming a dentist.
"Zecora." The light blue unicorn gasped. "I didn't expect to see you here."
Zecora replied "My dear Colgate, I had no time to lose for I have come with not-so good news."
"What are you talking about, Zecora?" Colgate asked.
"I heard of a very ferocious beast that nopony can't stand in the least." The zebra replied. "This beast proves to be a terrible foe that goes by the name of Monstro."
"Monstro?!" gasped Colgate. "What does the beast looked like?"
"You can guess without any fail," said Zecora "that the creature happens to be a whale."
Colgate puzzled "How did you know about this whale."
"I looked at the newspaper page and found a headline about his rage." Zecora said while showing Colgate a newspaper. She soon came to an article that tells a story of sailor ponies surviving an encounter with Monstro. The sailors watched from their lifeboats as their big vessel disappears in the belly of the whale leaving behind broken masts.
"That's impossible!" The light blue unicorn exclaimed.
"This story I am showing you is actually 100% true." Zecora told Colgate. "This large beast has a big throat large enough to swallow a whole boat."
"Does he really do these things?" Colgate questioned.
"There is actually more to this beast with a very load roar. There is something that makes him act really strange and causes him to become very deranged
Colgate soon knew what she had to do. She has to stand up to Monstro and find out what is causing him to act crazy.
"Zecora, I'm off to find this vicious brute and find out what causes him to go on a rampage." She told the zebra. "Where can I find him?"
"This beast lives far beyond the forests of Everfree, underneath the waves of the eastern sea."
"That I'm off to the ocean." Said Colgate with zeal.
"Tsk, Tsk, Tsk." Zecora sighed, "You don't even know the risks. The ocean is teeming with ferocious sharks with hearts that are very dark."
"I know the ocean has dangerous sharks but a whale like Monstro can be more dangerous then a big shark." Colgate remarked.
"Then I wish you luck." Zecora told her. "I hope you're not a sitting duck."
After talking to Zecora, she packed her suitcase and called a substitute dentist to come fill in for her while she's away.
Soon she is at the train station. She knew that the whale lived on the eastern sea so she bought a ticket to Baltimare which is a city that is close to the eastern shore. When the train arrived she climb aboard thinking about what she will do when she gets there.
"All Aboard!" Cried the conductor. Soon the train chuffed away towards Baltimare with Colgate inside unaware of what she might run into.
At last the train arrives in Baltimare. Colgate exits the train looking determined to find some more information about Monstro the whale. She soon walked up to a tavern which has a bar and pool table. Inside she saw tough looking stallions with scars and stitches indicating that they love to roughhouse.
"Can I have everypony's attention?" Colgate declared.
The tough stallions stopped their roughhousing and game of pool and stared at Colgate in a menacing way.
"I need some information on Monstro the whale." she said
And at that moment, the tough stallions became frightened by the mention.
"MONSTRO?!?!" they screamed.
They ran to find a place to hide. Even the pool playing stallions hid under the pool table.
"Was it something I said?" she thought to herself.
"So, you want to learn about o' Monstro." Said a voice.
Colgate turned and spied a tough sailor pony. He was a grey stallion with orange eyes, an ear mark, a scar on his right eye and an anchor for a cutie mark.
"Who are you?" She asked the sailor.
"I be Sheepshank, the toughest sailor in all of Baltimare." the stallion replied. "I've encountered the vicious brute a week ago. Large as a tree and with an aggressive attitude to boot."
A flashback shows that earlier that week, Sheepshank was sailing on a huge vessel while a storm raged on. Sheepshank was at the helm trying to guide his ship straight and true. And to make things worse, Monstro was right on his tail. Suddenly a huge wave tossed Sheepshank overboard but luckily, he was a strong swimmer and manages to get his head over the surface. He saw his proud ship get sucked down the whale's cavernous gullet. And soon Monstro dove into the depths of the sea leaving a surprised Sheepshank.
"And all that was left of me ship was a broken mast." Sheepshank finishes.
Colgate became puzzled. "How did you manage to get back to Baltimare."
"Sea turtles." The sailor pony replied. "Four of them swam under me hooves as I stood on their shells."
"Okay." Said Colgate awkwardly.
"Now Lassie, If you want to confront this beast, you have to be very careful he doesn't make fish food out of you." Sheepshank stated.
"I will." Colgate said determinedly.
"You also need a strong boat that withstands the tough waves." The sailor pony added.
"Okay. If that whale will show his face, I will be ready." Colgate asserted.
She was about to leave the tavern when Sheepshank stopped her.
"One more thing." the sailor pony advised. "Be careful."
"I will, Sheepshank." Colgate nodded.
She proudly trotted having both the courage of a powerful lion and a heart as strong as a hard-working horse.
She went up to the dock and found a small yet strong ship.
"That looks strong enough." The light blue unicorn thought.
Soon she was on the boat and sailed towards the open sea.
"No shark is ever gonna frighten me. I can take on any vicious sea creature, fish or whale."
An hour passed and Colgate if feeling seasick being out at sea. Her face went from light blue to pale green as she threw up over the side of the boat.
"Carrots." she groaned. "It had to be the carrots."
A dolphin laughed as it saw the seasick unicorn.
"Have you had any idea where to find a whale named Monstro?" Colgate asked the dolphin.
The dolphin squealed in fright at the mention of the name and it swan away.
"Maybe he was scared of seeing a shark."
Another half hour passed and by that time, she is far from Horseshoe Bay. This made Colgate very cross.
"How can I find this whale when he is somewhere underwater." She thought to herself.
Colgate decides to chum the water because she thinks it can attract the monster whale.
However she manages to attract 3 big sharks. Colgate is scared at the thought sharks circling a helpless sailor pony on a boat. Then she realizes that she can ask them if they seen the whale.
"Could any of you tell me where to find Monstro?" she asked the sharks.
The three sharks shook in fear and swam away as if they have hearts of a guppy.
"Gee, even the sharks are afraid of him." The light blue unicorn thought to herself.
Suddenly a sea pony popped up to the surface and spotted Colgate. She swan up towards the boat catching Colgate by surprise.
"Don't you scare me like that." She said to the sea pony. "Who are you anyway?"
"I am Seaspray." The sea pony replied. "I hear you are looking for Monstro the whale."
"Yes." Colgate told her. "The sharks and a dolphin swam away when I mentioned the name."
"That's because they don't want to be eaten whole." Seaspray explained. "Although it is known that Monsro swallows boats, his diet usually consists of fish. Even the sharks are on his menu."
"No wonder the sharks were so scared." Colgate thought.
"Would you like me to help you look for him?" The sea pony asked.
"Of course." answered Colgate.
Soon the sea pony helped pull the boat and the 2 friends set off.
Meanwhile, Monstro was taking a nap even though he can't sleep very good. Suddenly he spotted a school of tuna swimming by which makes him hungry. He woke up from his nap taking the fishes by surprise causing them to swim for their life. He opens his mouth to swallow the fish school whole in hot pursuit. The tuna tried everything to escape the monster whale but he was just to fast and relentless for them. They try to ditched the whale by going to the surface but the whale followed close behind. Some fish manage to escape getting eaten but Monstro swallows the rest of the fish and snapped his jaws shut as he landed onto the surface of the water. After a successful meal he went to sleep but he groaned at the moment he snapped his jaws shut. At this point he is easily mistaken for a big island. Later Colgate and Seaspray came across Monstro thinking it was an island.
"Maybe I should rest on the island before continuing the search." Colgate suggested.
"I don't know." gulped Seaspray. "I have a bad feeling about this."
"Don't be such a guppy, Seaspray." Colgate argued. "It looks peaceful. Come to think of it, the island looks barren."
She decided to picnic on the claimed island which is really the back of Monstro.
"Maybe, I think nopony claimed this island." Colgate thought.
She conjured up a small flag to mark the island.
"I nearby claimed this Island in the name of Equestria." Colgate boasted.
She sticked the pole into the whale's back causing it to growl in pain. His back began to move catching Colgate of her hooves.
"Earthquake!" she cried.
"Worse," Seaspray screamed as she stared into the monster whale's angry eye. "MONSTRO!"
Quickly Colgate manages to slide down the whale's back onto the boat.
"STEP ON IT." she yelled.
Seaspray pulled the boat as quickly as possible. Monstro began to chase the duo down with fury.
"Hurry!" the light blue unicorn cried. "He's gaining on us."
Seaspray pulled the boat quicker to lose the whale. He had to come up with a different approach. He dove into the water swam underneath the two frightened friends. He turned around popping his head out of the surface opening his huge mouth to let the ponies in.
"I think we lost him." Seaspray said looking back.
"Let's hide in that cave just in case." Colgate suggested pointing towards Monstro's cave-like maw.
It didn't take too long for Seaspray to realize that that's no cave.
"Colgate, do caves have a uvula?"
"No." Colgate answered. "Why do you ask?"
"That's no cave."
They screamed knowing they are about to be eaten. Seaspray tried to stop the boat but it was too late. Monstro slammed his jaws shut the moment the boat passed his front teeth.
Colgate and Seaspray found themselves swallowed by Monstro. Inside his belly was warm and damp.
"Looks like Monstro has a strange belly. You can see his backbones and ribs." Colgate observed.
"Look over there." shouted the sea pony.
One of the ribs has a sign
"Pinocchio and Geppetto were here." Seaspray read.
"Looks like we aren't the only ones swallowed by a whale." Colgate thought.
She was right. Inside Monstro's belly were different broken remains of ships that he swallowed over the years.
Suddenly Colgate spotted a ship that interests her
"That must be Sheepshanks' boat." Colgate thought.
Colgate and Seaspray went for a closer look.
The light blue unicorn stepped out of her small boat and clambered into the broken remains of what was once Sheepshank's proud vessel.
"This whale makes Pinkie Pie look like she's on a sugar diet." Colgate thought. "This beast really does swallow ships."
She looked around from the side of the ship and saw the other ship remains.
"Seaspray, if we don't get out of here soon, we will end up being digested in the belly of the whale."
"Well, we got to find a way to escape." The sea pony called out.
"Since we got swallowed when Monstro opened his mouth, maybe we can escape the next time he opens it." Colgate suggested.
"I'm afraid that won't work for Monstro only opens his mouth when he's eating." Seaspray pointed out. "When everything that swims comes in, nothing goes out alive."
Suddenly they heard a loud groan. Monstro has been moaning worse then before.
"Seaspray, what's going on?" The unicorn cried. "What's wrong with this whale?"
"I'll try to ask him." Seaspray replied.
Seaspray communicated with the large whale
"What's going on?" the sea pony asked.
"There's something in my mouth that hurts, please fix it."
"WHAT?" Colgate hollered. "You mean I have to go up to the mouth of that whale and risk getting chewed to pieces?"
"You won't get chewed, Colgate." Seaspray argued. "You have to trust me."
"All right, I'll do it."
Colgate climbed down and into her boat with Seaspray towing the way.
Soon Colgate got out of the boat and onto the whale's large and squishy tongue. She looked around the whale's teeth.
"Ah-ha." She exclaimed as she looked at one of his back teeth. "Here's the problem, This whale needs to have his wisdom teeth removed. Not just on one side of his mouth but on the other too."
Monstro's wisdom teeth need to be removed indeed for they feel sore for the whale.
"There's nothing a little dentistry won't fix." Colgate said to herself.
She used her magic conjured up her big toothbrush and other dentist tools.
"Don't worry Monstro, this won't hurt a bit."
She started to work by using a magical power known as clocking up by bending the flow of time. It seems that Colgate is fast as the speed of sound at this point. She brushed the tooth, drilled, and filled. Monstro rarely felt a tickle while the light blue unicorn worked on his tooth. By the time Colgate finished working, his wisdom teeth are finally removed. Monstro groaned in delight knowing that his toothache is gone.
"Thank You so much." The whale said. "Those teeth were bugging me a lot every time I try to eat some fish."
"Does this mean you will let us go?" Asked Colgate.
"Usually I refuse to do it but since you fixed my tooth problem, I would be glad to do it." Monstro answered.
When Colgate got back on to the boat, Mosntro opened his huge mouth to let the sea pony and unicorn out.
Soon Colgate and Seaspray were back on the open sea. Colgate looked back at the whale who felt better now that his toothache is gone.
"I'll never forget what you did, noble pony." He boomed.
With that, he dove into the darkness of the deep.
"I guess I won't forget this day either." Colgate thought to herself.
"You want me to help you get back to Baltimare?" Seaspray asked?
Colgate returned back to Ponyville after an amazing adventure. But she might never guess what happened when she returned to her dentist office.
"I QUIT!" The substitute dentist hollered.
"What happened? Did somepony made you mad or something?" Colgate asked.
"Working on pony teeth is fine but when you are asked to clean the teeth of a fierce dragon, FORGET IT."
With that, he packed his suitcase and marched off the building.
Not knowing what just happened that caused him to leave, Colgate was glad to be back at her job after a bizarre experience. As for Monstro, he still sometimes swallows whole ships but he finally gets to feast on his basic meal of fish thanks to the pony who fixed his toothache.
