Love will prevail?
Twilight is the first to awaken on the morning of a special day for her and Spike. A day they both have never celebrated before, due to their own choices of life, and are filled with joy to celebrate it. Well, almost full of joy.
Twilight sneaks past the sleeping dragon of her affection and down the spiral staircase to the library below. She had called for a meeting with Rarity early in the morning before she started her daily dos in order to get some help for the day. She levitates her saddle onto her bag securely fastening it under her belly and heads out the door without so much as a peep.
She makes her way across town to the local boutique where her friend lives. She taps on the door two times and waits for entrance that comes swiftly.
"Twilight! Come in come in!" She beckons motioning her into the main lobby of her abode.
"Thanks for seeing me Rarity..." Twilight says nervous about talking of love for Spike with Rarity.
"Not at all darling though I do wish you would stop worrying over this and you came to me sooner!" Rarity says closing the door behind Twilight who proceeds to take a seat on one of her plush white couch that seems to tie the room together as always.
Looking around the room Twilight can't help but notice how things have... changed. Every few feet or so some type of romantic picture is along the wall or a type of furniture of red and white and sometimes yellow places across the room. She even has a magic field projection of a fireplace against the wall.
"Jeez Rarity you sure are... festive."
"Romantic isn't it! I so do enjoy this time of year where love fills the air and everypony are close to one another! Maybe I'll finally find my special somepony!" Rarity says batting her eyes at a picture of one the hunky stallions on the wall that even Twilight has to admit has her flustered a bit.
"I'm sure you will Rarity but what she I get for my special somepo I mean dragon." Twilight says taking her eyes away from the picture, "I mean I know you told me not to worry about this but you got to admit I have to get him something after all he's my first ever special anything and I don't want him to feel neglected because he might start to hate me and than he'll want nothing to do with me and than."
A hoof in her mouth silences her. Rarity is shaking her head as she removes it.
"Darling you got to understand its not that big of a deal. You have to stay calm and get what you think is best for him."
"But I don't know what is! Best for him!" Twilgiht says slinging herself along the couch burying her head into one of her soft plush pillows of a heart.
Rarity puts a tender hoof onto Twilight shoulder.
"Darling I know how you feel. I remember when I had my very first somepony and I got so obsessed with trying to please him that I got side tracked about what is truly important."
"What's that?" Twilight says looking at Rarity hopefully.
"Showing that I love him."
"Right... But I've showed him how much I've loved him... I just want to make sure he knows I really appreciated him."
"Hmmm how about a dazzling diamond! They say a quickest way to a stallions heart is through his gut." She says with a giggle, "I'm sure he'll appreciate that!"
"Maybe so..." Twilight says getting off the couch, "Do you have any to spare?"
"Sorry darling but I don't. I used up the last bit for a shipment to Manehattan."
"That's fine Rarity. I'll go over to Sugar Cube Corner for something."
"Sounds like a plan. Now remember as long as you put your heart into it money is not that of a matter. Buy him the biggest jewel treat you can muster!" Rarity calls out behind Twilight as she leaves.
Closing the door behind her Twilight begins her walk into town wondering what her lover is up to.

Spike awakens to the sound of knocking on the door. He shoots up in bed and looks over to Twilight's bed to notice that she is not in there. He gets up and shoots down stairs yelling out how he has the door. He then takes notice that she isn't even down there but plays it off as a sign of luck.
He yanks open the door to library to let Rainbowdash in.
"Thanks for coming Rainbowdash!"
"No problem bud! Is the egg head still here?"
"Nope. She wasn't in bed this morning so she must have went out early for something."
"Perfect! Now to truly win her over you have to amaze her! I would do a mega awesome stunt for her if I was you but seeing as you don't have wings and not nearly as fast as me... how about a fire show?"
"And how would you suggest I do that?"'
Rainbow brings Spike outside and to the back of the library.
"How good are you at controlling your fire?"
"Errrr I wouldn't say well but."
"Alright time to get practicing! You'll need to form a heart with you fire along with arrows!"
Somewhere in the back of Spike's mind he wonders if it was best to ask Rainbowdash to help him out with such a task as impressing someone he loves. He shrugs off the thought and thinks to himself what's the worst that can happen. It's not like anything bad can happen on a special day! .... Right?

Twilights opens the doors to the building of many unhealthy and healthy treats. Enough treats to make you belly ache and still crave more. Behind the counter, of course, is Mr. Cake who has a giant smile on his face.
"Good morning Twilight! What can I do for you today!?"
"Hello Mr. Cake. I was wondering if I can buy something made of jewels for Spike."
"Ah! A lovers present got ya!" Mr. Cake says with a wink making Twilight blush.
To think at one point she was afraid of everypony knowing of her relationship with Spike she now only felt embarrassed when somepony mentioned him being her lover. She had even told the princesses and they accepted it with open arms to her thanks.
"Yes..." Twilight responds coughing a bit.
Mr. Cake heads to the back chuckling to himself before quick orders come from him to Pinkie, and most likely his wife, to make a grand diamond sweets for Twilight's sweetie which gains a even darker blush across her face.
"Okey dokie loki!" Pinkie calls out.
"It'll be done soon don't worry Twilight. Why don't you go out for a walk! We want to make sure everything is alright."
"Right." Twilight says wanting to get out of the shop before any more things of Spike's and hers love shows up.
She heads out the door and run smack dab into Fluttershy.

Spike sits panting out of breath from concentrating so much on his flames. He really wants a breather from all this practice.
"Come on Spike! You won't woo her by sitting on your flank all day!"
"I really don't think this is."
"There's no time for thinking only action! Trust me on this Spike I know what I'm talking about! I've wooed more people than you'll ever hope to!"
I hope I'll only have to for Twilight... Spike thinks bitterly rolling his eyes.
"But don't you think I deserve a break?" Spike whines.
"No time for breaks!" Rainbow says landing beside him, "You can take a break after today!"
"Now come on I think yer pushin the feller too hard after all he's still young in 'is years!" A country pony calls out.
"Ah what do you know!" Rainbow says flying into Applejack's face nose to nose.
"I know that even I take breaks so everyone deserves one." She says yanking her friend from out of the air to the ground laying before her, "Now come on Spike lets go take a breather."
Spikes shoots up from the ground and runs over to Applejack glad for his savior.
"Thanks Applejack! You really saved my hide."
"No problem! Now what was all that about?"
Spike tapes his claws together, "Wellllllll."

"Well that sure is something..." Fluttershy says sitting beside Twilight as she lays her head on the other side of the bench.
Twilight had just finished summing up her morning so far and why she had bumped into Fluttershy. She didn't really think it felt right just to bedazzle Spike with something to eat and her love. It felt like she was trying to buy his love.
"I honestly think that you shouldn't worry about buying him something expensive... perhaps you should just say how you feel deep inside."
"But I already have!"
"Are you sure Twilight? If your still so unsure about your relationship with him than you haven't said Everything.
Twilight goes quite and contemplate what Fluttershy just said. She felt like she didn't have anything to hide but than she realizes that some of her fears and wants are still unknown to Spike. She was afraid of what Spike might think of her and she didn't want to reveal everything to him.
"You're right Fluttershy... but... I'm scared... I don't want him to reject me."
"Twilight! Why would he do that? You of all ponies should know Spike would never reject you no matter what!" Fluttershy says jabbing Twilight in the stomach making her giggle.
"Hahaha maybe you're right Fluttershy. Maybe I'm acting silly..."
"Acting? More like are. Oh. I'm sorry am I being to harsh... Rarity told me that I have to be more assertive if I want to find my special somepony..." Fluttershy says hiding behind her mane.
Twilight laughs and shakes her head saying, "Don't worry about it Fluttershy. It's the right thing to wake me up out of this mood I'm in..."
With that on her hooves again Twilight sets out to the library to go check on her sweet heart.

Spike bites into the apple feeling better already. On the way to Apple Family Farm Spike told his friend of the task of wooing Twilight proving his love to her.
Applejack laughed a bit telling him not to sweat over showing off to her. After all no one likes a show off as shown by Trixie.
"You just need to show her your true side be honest with her! Everypony loves honesty! If you two love each other than you'll have to share everything. You do share everything right?" She had said before leaving him here to rest.
It was true that they didn't share everything. Twilight didn't even know what he's been up to let alone the reason why she wasn't there when he got up. Usually they share things like that but ever sense their relationship began they seemed edgier than before. Maybe this was a test of their love. Spike stands up and pumps his arms into his side.
"I won't lose this test! I will ace this test just like Twilight!" Spike roars into the sky before taking off to only stop a short second later realizing he doesn't know where Twilight may be.
Well, just another test.

After finding Spike not home and Rainbowdash loitering around not telling her anything she has taken to the streets to find out where her number one everything has gone. She's asked people around town if they had seen him and they've all usually replied with the same of nope, not really, and hey bug off I'm trying to be romantic here.
The last place she hasn't checked yet is the park. As she enters she notices a dragon looking around most likely for her. She takes off full gallop to go embrace him.
"Hey Twilight we brought you the treat!" Pinkie yells making Spike look and take notice to Twilight as well.
Spike turns and runs for here as well as Rainbowdash who yells about waiting and training. Not realizing what happening the four collide together bringing out a calamity of things. One a green flame burns up Spike's gift as well as his throat due to all the flames he's used today, Pinkie, with her hard head, knocks Twilight out cold will Rainbowdash rolls across the ground injuring herself as well as Spike.
"Whoopsie daysies!" PInkie says rubbing the side of her head and looking around her for her now gone delivery, "You guys okay?"
The response she gets are two groans and silence from Twilight as well as a few snickers from the crowd that has some what gathered.

Twilight awakens in bed and the first sight she takes in is Spike gazing down at her with a worried look.
"Uggggh what happened?" Twilight says blinking dark spots out of her eyes.
"Well."
The explanation doesn't take long and have them both laughing.
"Oh Spike... I'm really sorry about how this day has turned out..."
"Oh yea I forgot to mention you've been knocked out since yesterday..."
"What! You mean I didn't get you anything for Hearts and Hooves day! Ugh! What kind of special somepony am I!"
Spike presses his lips against hers calming her down some.
"The best." Spike whispers into her ear wrapping his body against hers, "And nothing will ever change that."
"But but your gift!"
"Please Twilight. The only gift I need is knowing your okay."
Silence fills the air as they hold one another. Twilight has to admit that Spike truly is more than a baby dragon now. He is even greater stallion than an stallion.
"I love you Spike."
"I love you too Twilight."
