A thousand years ago in the land of Equestria there lived a tribe known as the Tumbogees. The Tumbogees had a simple lifestyle they farmed and ate and slept yet they were constantly at war. The ponies who came to Invade the tribe were simply known as the Krakenshini(Inharmonious in the tribal tongue) the ponies invaded not only because they wanted the Tribes' resources but also because there was rumor that an ancient treasure was found deep beneath the surface of the tribes' village. An ancient temple known to the natives as Boduni (the temple of love) where it held riches and wonder to the pure but death and suffering for those who were not worthy. The Krakenshini thought that they were worthy and killed every last one of the tribesponies in the village to prove that they were indeed worthy of the treasure kept within the temple. The temple weeped for the tribesponies and created defences for itself one of which was to curse the Krakenshini with undeath and to protect the temple so that nopony could enter its reaches and commit treacherous to obtain the treasures within it. It was not well known but there was an ancient artifact hidden deep in the depths of the temple camouflaged by the surrounding treasures capable of either destroying or saving a world. Since then it has disappeared into the depths of the land never to be seen again and renamed Lakranka (the temple of doom) because anypony who went in search of the temple was never seen again. However a thousand years later a certain pony by the name of Finnie Nara would come along and change the entire history of Equestria.
Finnie Nara was having a decent day, Well decent for a pony who has a job of transporting mail to and fro living in a working class home and having little to no free-time and the little time she had, she used to read some books. She really liked reading those Daring Do books even though they were meant for kids because it gave her a sense of adventure and oh how Finnie Nara wished that one day she would be on a adrenaline-pumped, Risk-inducing adventure. Today was a really busy day what with Hearth's Warming Eve coming soon and many many ponies sending their gifts by mail or ordering them by mail. Needless to say Finnie Nara was having a real hard time at work today what with her boss yelling at her because she arrived late (mainly because she overslept due to spending too much time on said Daring Do books) and all the mail she had to deliver oh how she wished that one day all she had to do was to press a button and all the mail she needed to send was all sent. But alas life is cruel and technology would not be that advanced until another thousand years later.
Finnie Nara was lounging on the grass thinking about how easy it would be to send mail by a push of a button when she heard hoofsteps nearing her.
"AND WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING LYING DOWN AND HAVING A BREAK WHILE THE REST OF YOUR CO-WORKERS ARE WORKING THEIR FLANKS OFF DELIVERING MAIL THAT YOU OUGHT TO BE DELIVERING AS WELL?!" Finnie's Boss, CheeryPuff (Ironic isn't it?), screamed into Finnie's head.
"Ma'am i was uhm...er... thinking of ways to improve the uh delivering service!" Finnie said as she nervously awaited the next torrent of spittle to spray onto her face
"DO YOU TAKE ME FOR A FOOL?!" shouted Ms CheeryPuff "IF YOU WERE ABLE TO MAKE THE MAIL SERVICE BETTER DON'T YOU THINK YOU WOULD BE WORKING WITH THE OTHERS IN THE RESEARCH DEPARTMENT?! YOU HAVE NOT DELIVERED A SINGLE PIECE OF MAIL SINCE YOU CAME FOR WORK TODAY!!! I OUGHT TO HAVE YOU FIRED FOR THIS INCOMPETENCE! BUT SINCE I AM SOO FORGIVING I THINK I'LL JUST DEDUCT YOUR MONTH'S SALARY AND GIVE YOU CLEANING DUTY WON'T THAT BE FUN? THEN YOU HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO THINK UP YOUR DUMB IDEAS WHILE CLEANING THE BUILDING!"
"but but but...." Finnie protested
"NO BUTS OR I'LL SIMPLY FIRE YOU!" Ms Cheerypuff shouted spraying Finnie with even more of her disgusting spittle "NOW GO AWAY OR I'LL HAVE YOU DEMOTED....AGAIN!"
No wonder she's single thought Finnie as she sighed in defeat knowing full well that she had no choice but to give her mail bag to another mailpony and grab a broom to sweep the building. Slightly out of view a very worn, very old piece of paper floated down into an open window in the nearby mail company's building.
Finnie walked through the building again making sure that every nook and cranny had been cleaned else she would definitely get a new spray of saliva spit onto her face the next day. As she walked through the building, she saw a very old piece of paper probably made a few hundred years ago at least the kind that ought to have been in a museum. it was covered in symbols and a few sketches. A few of the symbols Finnie recognized from taking history class back when she was in school but she forgot what they meant (Finnie never paid much attention during history lessons i mean who does right?). Finnie decided to employ the help of a certain Twilight Sparkle as soon as she was done cleaning the building.
A few hours later, Finnie emerged from the dull, bleak looking building and trotted happily into the market completely forgetting about the piece of paper she had tucked in one of her saddlebags. Finnie got some apples and saw a yellow pegasus with a pink mane shyly haggling with a store owner for some berries. It looked to Finnie as if the pegasus was getting scammed out of her money. Finnie never liked people who scammed others and stormed towards the looking to help the yellow pegasus get her money back.
"Well you did say that i you wanted to pay me 20 bits for that berry Miss"
"Oh no no i wanted to pay you 2 bits for that berry Mister if its not too much trouble could i have the 18 bits extra i gave you back please?"
"Oh no missy you aint gonna scam me!"
"Hey you there give her her money back!! she only needed to pay 2 bits and it says so on your board right there!!!" Finnie shouted and pointed a hoof at the sign above the store owner which clearly stated that the berry only costs 2 bits.
"sigh fine take your damn 18 bits i have better things to do anyways" muttered the store owner
"Oh thank you Miss..." the yellow pegasus trailed off.
"Oh i'm Finnie Nara nice to meet you." Finnie said
"Thank you Miss Finnie, my name's Fluttershy." Fluttershy whispered
"Oh so you're the Fluttershy i've been hearing about. I heard you saved us from eternal night sometime ago." Finnie said with joy
"Oh yes...That was a few years ago Princess Luna is so much nicer than her meany alter ego Nightmare Moon!" Fluttershy squeaked
"A few years ago?!" Finnie exclaimed "I know i don't get out much but seriously? A few years?!" Finnie exclaimed loudly
"Um...yes?" said Fluttershy shyly
"Well it seems as if i have alot of catching up to do i guess if thats all i'll be going then."
"Um ok...see you soon?" asked Fluttershy
"Sure!"
Finnie started to trot away when she heard Fluttershy calling for her.
"Um Finnie i think you dropped this..." mumbled Fluttershy
" Oh yes that!!! i totally forgot to about that i was supposed to ask Twilight to help be analyse it but im sure its nothing much." Finnie said conversationally
"Oh you're heading to Twilight's?" Fluttershy asked
"Yeah why?" Finnie replied
"Um i'm going there too... would you like to walk with me?" Fluttershy asked
"Oh what a coincidence! Sure i'll tag along." Finnie replied cheerfully.
It seemed like no time at all but they eventually reached Twilight's home which was to say the least, a treehouse. Finnie knocked on the wooden door twice and waited another five minutes before knocking again this time before she could even tap the door it suddenly opened causing Finnie to fall forwards due to the momentum of the knock and land on something scaly and hard.
"Oof"
"Ow!" shouted the scaly hard object beneath Finnie.
Finnie got up and saw Twilight's number one assistant, Spike, stretching his back as he started to stand up. Realizing that Spike was the scaly hard object Finnie fell onto, Finnie quickly apologized and helped Spike onto his feet.
"Spike i heard crashing who is it?" asked a voice above
"It's just Finnie and Fluttershy Twilight!" replied Spike grumbling about a hurt back and needing lots of sleep as he walked back to his basket and fell asleep almost immediately.
"Oh hi girls what are you doing up so late tonight?" Twilight asked conversationally
"Oh i was just here to pick up that book on animals um i think it was called... Caring and Loving animals"
"Ah yes i have it right here!" Twilight said as she conjured a thick book out of thin air
"And what can i do for you Finnie?" Twilight asked
"Um i found this old piece of paper on the floor at work today i hoped that you could translate it for me it seem to be written in a really old language." Finnie replied
"Oh let me take a look...... Oh my Oh my... Finnie where exactly did you get this letter?" asked Twilight
"At work why? What does it say?"
"It says : Hello Finnie i do not have much time to explain this as time is of the essence but there is great trouble brewing and it seems that only you can help us save Equestria from it. The decision is yours to save Equestria by taking a huge risk or living the dull boring life you live everyday i hope you choose well. The fate of Equestria is now in your hands.
Sincerely, Yhsrettulf That's all it says" finished Twilight
"Let me get this straight Equestria is in trouble and only i can save it?" Finnie asked
"well not only you the letter says you can also bring a companion... and the letter spells Fluttershy in reverse so i guess we know who'll be your companion should you choose to go on this adventure of yours... the also letter included some co-ordinates i have never seen before in fact there shouldn't be anything there but i guess you'll have to see for yourself."
"Looks like the decisions been made for me. I have no problems with it. What do you think Fluttershy?"
"Um im not too keen on big scary adventures with big scary mean monsters and the whole saving Equestria isn't helping my nerves" whispered Fluttershy nervously
"Aw c'mon Fluttershy! It"ll be fun i swear! and i won't let you get hurt!"
"I don't know...."
"Please" said Finnie begging with puppy dog eyes
"Oh all right so long as i'm back to feed Angel Bunny, He's going to be so afraid and lonely" replied Fluttershy
"We'll be back before you know it!" exclaimed Finnie
"Alright girls it looks like a decision's been made time to teleport you girl's to the Temple Of Doom!" said Twilight as she readied the teleport spell
"The TEMPLE OF WHAA....." Fluttershy trailed of as she and Finnie were teleported to the co-ordinates indicated in the letter.
Outside the treehouse in the nearby tree was a pony clothed fully in black as he whispered into his radio" They're going sir they should be there by sunrise"
"Um...oof...i....do...n't...kn...OW!" exclaimed Fluttershy as she and Finnie's rolling came to an abrupt stop as she smashed into a large boulder luckily not breaking anything (although she doesn't look it, Fluttershy has a really tough body too)
"Well at least we stopped rolling" Finnie said
"Um yeah but can we not do anything that dangerous again please that was really scary" Fluttershy replied
"Yeah nothing is going to be that scary Fluttershy" Finnie said knowing full well that a temple of doom is going to be much scarier than a simple roll down a hill.
Finnie and Fluttershy decided to scout the island intending to look for inhabitants or civilisation. When they saw smoke coming out from one of the areas of the thick jungle they decided to head towards that area immediately to seek shelter before they were eaten or hunted by something in the jungle. And so journey into the thick intimidating jungle they did, after Fluttershy disagreed profusely of course.
"Um HELLO?" shouted Finnie as they navigated through the jungle "WE COME IN PEACE SO CAN YOU GIVE US ALL YOUR RESOURCES AND LET US STAY IN ONE OF YOUR HOUSES?"
"Um Finnie i don't think that they are going to give us all of their resources and let us stay in one of their houses just like that." Flutttershy mumbled to Finnie
"Of course they will, i've read enough Daring Do books to know that the people living here are probably natives who have no clue whatsoever what the word civilisation or technology is" said Finnie
"Of course you would think that" said a voice very near Finnie " but you must be misunderstanding us, we are not the uncivilised ones you are!"
"EEP!" exclaimed both Fluttershy and Finnie as they desperately tried to search for the voice hidden away in the trees
"And why would you think that we would be so foolish as to give you all our resources and get nothing back? we have traded with others outside the island before you know and most of the time if we aren't satisfied with what we got in return, that pony never returns home." said the voice threateningly
"Um actually all we really need is food and water and we'll be on our way... heh heh" stammered Finnie
"HA HA! LOOK GUYS I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO SCARE A MARE!!!" shouted the voice though not as intimidating as before.
"Huh?" said both Fluttershy and Finnie as they searched wildly for the source of laughter
"Oh right i forgot camouflage clothing sorry." said the voice as a whirring noise was emitted
Fluttershy and Finnie gasped as clad in futuristic-looking armor was a stallion with a long flowing mane and a big yet slim body finished with clear white teeth and blue eyes.
"What? what's wrong now?" said the stallion as he looked over himself"oh my bad its the camo again its not working right i tell you"
Finnie and Fluttershy heard the whirring sound again as the stallion before their eyes transformed again into... an average looking pony.
"Oh...well that's what i was expecting anyways" said Finnie
"Yeah sorry about all that confusion the camo is broken i'm saving up to get a new one later this month"replied the stallion" my name is Lemonsqueeze what's yours?"
"I'm Finnie Budding adventurer with my sidekick here Fluttershy!" replied Finnie excitedly as she placed one arm firmly around Fluttershy who was cowering behind her.
"Um...okay i'm guessing you girls would like to visit the town with me?"
"Yeah we'd love to!" replied Finnie
"I'm not so sure..." said Fluttershy as she slowly tugged Finnies' hoof indicating that she didn't want to go anywhere.
"C'mon we have food and houses and tech oh and many exotic animals not found anywhere else!" said Lemonsqueeze
"ANIMALS?! yay!" exclaimed Fluttershy as she took flight with her wings
"Alright then let's go sun's about to rise anyways" said Lemonsqueeze
The group made their way to the town knowing that at least they now had a place to stay.
As they arrived into the town Finnie and Fluttershy noticed that a part of the jungle started to shimmer a little and started to look the same.
"Uh are we close yet?" asked Finnie
"Yeah we're here already can't you see?" said LemonSqueeze "Oh wait you girls don't have the glasses sorry wait here a sec."
"Okay...just don't abandon us alright?" said Finnie
"Now why in the world would i do that?" replied Lemonsqueeze as he galloped off into the depths of the surrounding jungle
"Um he is coming back right?" asked Fluttershy as she and Finnie waited for what seemed like hours even though her senses told her it was only a few minutes
Then just as they thought they were alone a rustling noise came from one of the trees behind them.
"Eep!" screamed Fluttershy as she quickly cowered behind Finnie
"Um LemonSqueeze is that you?" Finnie asked
"..."
"Uh if it's you Lemonsqueeze its not funny..."
"..."
Then just as they thought it was all just their imagination, a brown stallion with a brown mane, blue eyes and an hourglass cutie mark jumped out of the bushes.
"Oh hello there i didn't know that there were ponies out here too you can call me the Doctor also what exactly are you two doing out here in the jungle all alone?"said the Doctor
"Uh i'm Finnie and she's Fluttershy... we're here to save Equestria! and go to the temple of doom of course." replied Finnie as Fluttershy gave a brief nod indicating that Finnie was in fact correct about everything.
"The temple of Doom? why that's where i'm going too seems as if its hidden away and there's something about it that seems to keep the locals scared. And i'm here to find out exactly what it is." the Doctor said" also why don't you have your glasses on? don't you want to see the town?"
"We don't actually have any glasses... our...tour guide went off to get us some but he seems to be taking a rather long time..." Finnie replied
"Oh what a coincidence i have two extra glasses... here you go!" the Doctor exclaimed
"Why thank you Doctor." replied Finnie
"Oh it's no problem really it's all i could do to help two lost mares like yourselves!"
"You're headed to the temple too right? so... would you like to be our companion as well?" Finnie asked
"Me a companion....." the Doctor trailed off
"I know it's a lot to take in but i'm sure you'll love..."
"Why should i be your companion i'm the Doctor!!!"
"And i'm saving the world!!!"
"But i can time-travel!!"
"You can what?!"
"Exactly so if you'll be so kind as to be my companion we can forget all about this nonsense and con..."
"NO YOU BE MY COMPANION OR I'LL BE LEAVING!"
"FINE!"
"FINE!"
Both Finnie and the Doctor walked away as Fluttershy said "Wait why can't both of you be companions it would be so much easier... right?"
Both Finnie and the Doctor looked at Fluttershy then at each other
"Why i never thought of that"
"that's a great idea"
"both companions both are equal"
"COOL!"
"Brilliant!"
"Glad we could finally come to an agreement" said both finnie and the Doctor
"Ah there you are i thought i heard some yelling" said Lemonsqueeze "And it looks like both of you have your glasses which means i spent my money for nothing."
"Ah well never mind let me show you round the town anyways and don't forget to put on your glasses!"
When Finnie and Fluttershy put on their glasses they saw rows of houses much like the ones in ponyville covering the land as far as the eye could see.
"It looks amazing!!" said Finnie
"Yeah let me show you round and then i'll show you where you're gonna be staying." replied Lemonsqueeze
"Lead on!" said Finnie
The group walked away not noticing a pony fully clothed in black with black goggles covering his eyes speaking into his walkie talkie "They're here sir"
"Good ready the preparations i want them done by sundown today!" came the static disembodied reply.
