> The Papillon and the Fox > by Silentpegasus > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Once a Thief, Always a Thief > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the cold Paris streets, a man wearing a long over coat and dress suit stood as he examined the crime scene. He was in his mid twenties, had brown combed back hair, dark hazel eyes that glistened like silver coins. His grey suit was pressed and his black tie was slightly ruffled. His hair was messy and he had bags under his eyes. “Ah Detective Foxtrot. So good of you to join us.” A man with blonde hair and bright blue eyes walked up to him. His suit was dark brown. He was young, easily twenty-three and was the hot head of the department. “Ugh.” The man groaned. “Oh come on now John. Is that the attitude of a detective?” The younger man teased. “It is when you’re having a nice dinner.” He said in a thick Italian accent. The younger man then handed him a cup of coffee. “Were you spending it with someone?” He asked as he waggled his eyebrows. “Don’t start with that again Jones.” John groaned as he sipped the hot beverage. “Oh don’t be such a buzz kill.” “What have we got? The Ripper?” The two had been on the trail of a serial rapist the past few weeks. Jones shook his head and pulled out a photo of a purple butterfly on a pedestal. It’s wings were decorated in purple jewels. “Looks like he’s back again.” He said as he led him inside. Several photographers were taking pictures of the crime scene. “Took a rare necklace this time. The Fire Ruby pendant.” John gulped. He read that they were among the most precious gems ever discovered. “No alarms were tripped. The call was given in by a night guard who was knocked out. When he came to, the gem was gone.” John ducked under the police line and looked at the black pedestal that now housed a metal purple butterfly with decorated amethyst along the wings. “Yeah, it’s her. Its Papillon” He said as he looked around. “Her? How do you know its a her?” “What guy wears perfume while robbing a museum?” The young detective sniffed and could barely make out the scent of roses. “Well in this town-” “Finish that sentence and I’ll gut you.” The younger man rolled his eyes and sighed. John cracked his neck and looked around the crime scene. “Looks like she came in through the roof.” He said as he shined it up towards a window that had a circle cut into it. As he shined the light around something in the darkness caught his eye. A small shimmer. “Jones, tell the egg heads to scram.” “Why?” “Just do it. I’ll be right out.” The younger of the two shrugged and rounded up the clean up crew and closed the doors behind him. John pulled out his handgun from its holster and switched the safety off. “I know you’re here.” He yelled. “Give yourself up and you’ll be given a fair trial.” As he looked around he saw a reflection in one of the display cases. A black suited figure was hugging a corner pillar. He shot one bullet that shattered the display case. Quicker than lightning the figure leapt from her hiding place and ran. John hastily made his way towards the figure as the doors burst open with his partner and three officers with him. “What happened?” “Papillon is still here! Seal off all exits!” John yelled as he continued his pursuit. Jones joined him and continued to chase the figure through the museum. The thief pushed a large vase off it’s pedestal. John rushed and caught it before it could shatter. Jones fired a few shots from his handgun. The figure ducked behind a corridor. As the man rounded the corner he felt something grab his gun holding hand started to hit him in the chest. The figure’s fists were small but packed a punch. As the two came to a dead lock. The figure pressed her face forwards and locked lips with the young detective. Jones stood stunned at the motion. The next thing he felt was the figure’s foot colliding with his face and knocking his head against the stone wall. The man fell to the ground unconscious and groaned. The figure smirked and picked up a small bag that most likely contained the stolen jewels. She quickly made her way to the upper levels. The thief ducked into a closet and found a ladder leading to the roof. As she reached the outside it was pouring rain. “Finally out.” “I wouldn’t say that.” The figure froze. As she looked behind she saw the man that had blown her cover holding a pistol in line with her head. “Stand up slowly.” He said as he motioned with his gun. The figure gritted it’s teeth. John could clearly make out a female form behind the skin tight latex suit. The woman gripped a loose shingle and threw it at the man’s face. “Fuck!” He yelled as the piece of roofing collided with his cheek. The thief immediately took off running along the roof tops. “Stop!” He yelled as he gave chase. The storm was in full swing and lightning danced across the rooftops as the two ran. They soon jumped off the museum building and were making their way towards the outskirts of the city. John had had enough. He raised his weapon and focused. As a flash of lightning struck a nearby rooftop he could make out he black suited figure. He took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. The thief heard the gun shot and a splitting pain in her leg. She cried out in pain and lost her balance. She fell and slid down the roof desperately trying to get her grip. The rain was pounding and the wind was picking up. The pain in her leg was excruciating and she could feel herself slipping. She looked below to see a spill way turned into a raging river. As she looked back up she saw the man who had shot her extending his hand. “Give me your hand!” He said as he reached for her. The figure weighed it’s options and hesitantly reached forwards. As she grabbed his arm a bolt of lightning came down and struck within a foot of the man. The thief screamed and shot back. She felt a falling sensation and saw the man falling with her. He quickly grabbed her arm and brought her into a tight hold. The two took felt themselves collide with the raging water and were swept away by the current. The officer managed to keep his and her head above the water as they were bashed around by the torrent of water. Soon the man felt a dip and the two came to the end of the spillway. The man groaned in pain as he felt the bruises forming. John looked to his right to see the woman knocked out. He checked her pulse and sighed in relief as he felt a pulse from her neck. He reached into his pocket and saw that his phone was all but broken. His surroundings didn’t look too good either. He was at the bottom of a storm drain with the most infamous jewel thief Paris had seen in a decade. “Fuck.” Soon the woman’s eyes fluttered open and groaned. Her sapphire blue eyes scanned the area and gasped at the sight of the man sitting down and holding a gun aimed at her head. “Morning sunshine.” He said as he cocked the pistol. The woman immediately tried to sit up, but felt a pair of hand cuffs around her wrists. Her arms were cuffed behind her back and she grunted. “Nice try.” “What do you want with me?” Her voice had an English accent to it. She raised her head and managed to get on her knees. She then felt a splitting pain in her leg. She looked down and saw the man’s tie wrapped around her thigh. “You....you shot me!” “You knocked out my partner and stole a priceless necklace.” He said as he walked over to her. In the dim light of the full moon he could see the black skin tight mask with a purple butterfly imprinted on it. “Now then, where is it?” The woman scoffed and turned her head. John reached down and turned her head so that they were facing one another. “Where is it?” He ordered. The woman still remained silent. “If you don’t tell me then I’ll have to search you.” Even through the mask he could see her cheeks turn red. He reached for the zipper of her tight fitting outfit and she squealed. “Wait!” She said. “I don’t have it.” “Sure and that metal butterfly just got there on it’s own?” He said as he crossed his arms. “I don’t have it on me you idiot.” She spat out. “I hid it on one of the rooftops.” John groaned. “It’s probably been picked up by your men now.” She said in disappointment. “Now if you could be a dear and untie me then-” “Nope. You’ve been giving me trouble since I got stationed here. The only place you’re going is prison.” He said in a flat tone. “Meaning we’d better get moving.” He grabbed her arm and got her on her feet. “Fuck!” She yelled as the wound was agitated. Papillon looked down and saw a piece of fabric tied across the wound. “The bullet just grazed you and it didn’t hit anything important.” The man said as he helped her along. “The tie should hold for now. Don’t want you bleeding out on me.” “Oh you’re such a gentlemen.” She said in a sarcastic tone. “And you’re such a lady.” He fired back. The two then came to where a sewer came out. The thief looked back at the detective with a cocked eyebrow. “You have got to be joking.” “Nope. Get moving.” “I have a bullet wound in the leg!” “You’re gonna be moving even slower with two.” He said in a flat tone. The woman gritted her teeth and looked at the large opening. It was three feet above her head. “How am I supposed to-” She was cut off as a pair of strong arms wrapped around her legs and lifted her up. The thief leaned forward and fell on her stomach in the dry pipe. John lifted himself up into the pipe and saw the woman sit up and glare at him. “Lets get moving.” He said as he grabbed her by the handcuff chains and got her to her feet. “Animal!” She yelled. “Sorry, Princess.” He said as the two continued to walk down the hole. The tunnel seemed to go on forever. The walls were built by old brick and were held together by decrepit cement. As the two kept going through the dimly lit tunnel John saw the thief panting heavily. “You okay?” “It’s just stifling down here. Honestly, how can you stand the humidity?” She asked as she looked at his attire. His jacket was covered in dirt and his shirt was torn in several different places. “I adapt.” “Yes, well could you do something?” “I can’t control the weather sweetie.” The woman frowned at him. “There is a zipper on the back of my head. Undo it.” She said as she turned back around. “No tricks now.” He said as he reached up and felt the zipper. He gently pulled it down and looked in amazement at her dark purple locks. He hair went down to the middle of her back and had a wavy look to it. “Oh that feels so much better.” She said with a smile. Her smile then faltered as her mask fell off. John grinned and saw her face. Her skin was almost paper white and her eyes were a deep sapphire color. Her lips had what looked like purple lipstick on them. “So that’s what you look like eh?” The woman gulped as she realized that he knew her face. “Oh please, I already saw it while you were knocked out.” The woman frowned and her face turned bright red. “Oh I see! What else did you do to me then?” She yelled. John looked at her in confusion. “Taking advantage of a poor defenseless girl. I expected better from a Paris officer.” “That’s detective.” He said as he pointed to his badge. “Relax, I only saw your face. That’s it.” He said in a flat tone. “Come on, we still have a lot of ground to cover.” He said as he picked up her mask and put it in his pocket. “Do you even know where you’re going?” She said as they continued walking. “We’re just bellow the Broken Bottle Tavern.” He said. “How can you tell?” She asked as she hobbled along. “I just do.” He said in a flat tone. The time in the cave seemed to be endless. Increasingly, the darkness grew as the two pressed on. “Why a butterfly?” “Hm?” “Why leave a butterfly at the crime scene?” “Actors have catchphrases, artists have their paintings. I have my butterflies.” She said with a shrug. “What about you? You don’t look like normal Paris, PD.” “I’m a transfer from Italy. When I got here they promoted me to detective.” “Detective what?” “Detective none of your business.” He said in a flat tone. “So why are you a thief anyway?” “I have bills to pay and I need money.” She said in a flat tone. “That’s still no excuse. Ever try getting a real job?” “I do have a real job for your information!” She said in an angry tone. “This just pays better and why stop when you’re good at something?” The woman said with a sly grin. “You’re skilled. I’ll give you that much.” He said as the two walked along the tunnel. “Is that a compliment?” “I respect skills. No matter what they’re used for.” He said with a shrug. “Still, someone definitely trained you.” “That obvious am I?” She said with a small chuckle. “I suppose I’m nothing compared to my idol and role model. Now HE was a thief.” “Oh really and who might that be?” “You’ve probably heard of him. I only saw him once, five years ago. The man fought off nearly the entire Italian police force and with his loot intact.” She said with a heartfelt sigh. “He was so strong, so fast and generous.” “A generous thief? That’s a new one.” “Oh but you didn’t see him. After he ditched the cops I followed him a ways and I saw him give a heaping stack of money to some starving orphans.” She said with a happy sigh. “Such a gentleman.” “Sounds like you got a crush on him.” He said as he rolled his eyes. “This guy got a name?” “Only an alias. La Volpe.” “La Volpe?” The man blinked twice. “As in the most infamous thief in the entire UK?” “That’s him.” She said in a sing song voice. “Its my dream to find him one day and then we’ll fall in love~” She said with a smile. “Hate crush your dreams Princess, but Volpe is gone.” He said in a flat tone. “What do you mean gone?” “Gone. Split. Adios. Most people think he’s dead.” The woman stopped walking and glared at him. “You’re lying!” “Believe what you want. I don’t care what a two bit thief has to say.” The woman’s eyes burned. “Two bit thief?” “You heard me. You’re only in it for the cash. While Volpe was a thief he had principles.” He fired back. “You on the other hand are a grade A rip off. You just take and take until you become nothing more than a selfish witch.” The woman was about to unleash a barrage of spite filled remarks but was cut off as the two heard a ringing noise. The thief stopped as she felt something vibrate inside her suit. “Is that a phone?” The man asked in a drawn out tone. “Maybe.” She said as she started to sweat. “Give it here.” The woman scowled and motioned her head towards her cuffed hands. He turned her around so that they were facing one another. “Okay, so where is it?” “On my right side. Why?” John blushed brightly and gulped. “I’m....gonna have to reach inside and get it.” The woman’s jaw dropped and her face turned scarlet. “Forget it! Use your own you pervert!” “Mine broke when we fell. It’s the best way for us to get out of this mess.” The woman bit her lip and hesitantly nodded. The man holstered his weapon and slowly unzipped the woman’s skin tight outfit. His blush intensified as he saw her sweat soaked cleavage. He also noticed a tattoo of a purple butterfly that was across the top of the two fleshy mounds. He hesitantly reached inside her skin tight outfit. She wasn’t wearing a bra. John could feel her skin tense as he made contact. Her skin was surprisingly soft and he could feel her lean muscles across her stomach. The woman’s face was bright red and was biting her lip in an effort to smother her moans. John felt the device and quickly pulled his hand out. He flipped open the phone and pressed the talk button. “Hello?” “Who’s this?” The voice belonged to a little girl. “Detective John Foxtrot. Who’s this?” “Um....I thought I called my big sister’s phone.” The woman gasped and mouthed, ‘let me talk to her.’ “Your sister?” “Yeah, Rarity.” John looked at the woman who was close to tears. He weighed his options and let out a sigh. “Rarity? Does she have wavy purple hair and deep blue eyes?” He said in a convincing dumb tone. “That’s her!” “My apologies Ms.....” “Sweetie Belle.” “Right, Sweetie Belle. Your sister was kind enough to lend me her phone and I forgot to give it back to her. Hold on I see her now.” He put his hand on the talk device and looked at the woman. “Let me talk to her!” The thief begged. “Why should I?” “Please! She’s all I have left!” The woman was in tears and hung her head in shame. The man looked at the woman and gulped. He looked at the battery indicator and saw that it was almost dead. He could hang up on the little girl and call for back up. He put the phone to his ear again and sighed. “You still there?” “Yup.” “Here’s your sister.” He said as he put the phone on speaker and held it in front of the woman. Rarity looked at the man with a smile on her face. “S-Sweetie?” “Hey Rarity, sorry to bother you while you’re at the fashion convention in Paris.” The woman hung her head in shame. “It’s just that Opal hacked up on the floor again. Should I take her to the vet?” “N-no. Just clean it up and take her there in the morning.” “Are you okay sis? You sound kind of...sad.” “It’s....just been a rough night. That’s all.” The woman said as she held back tears. “Sweetie, I may be back later than tomorrow morning.” “How long?” “I’m not sure.” She said with a sigh. “I just want to let you know that I love you.”
“Awe, I know. I love you to Big-” She was cut off as the phone died. John grunted as he looked at the black screen. “Crap.” He said as he slipped it inside his pocket. “We’d better get-” He stopped as he looked down at the woman who was shaking as tears ran down her face. John crouched down so they met eye to eye. “Promise me one thing.” She said in a shaky tone. “Huh?” “Promise me that my sister doesn’t get roped into this.” Rarity said as she looked at the man with tear stained eyes. “She doesn’t even know about any of this! She’s innocent!” John rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. “Please! I’m all she has she’ll die without someone watching over her.” The tears were running down her face like two waterfalls. “If this is some ploy to get me to let you go then-” “It’s not! I may be a ‘two bit thief’ as you put it, but I am deadly serious about my sister.” She said with fire in her eyes. “Fine. Provided you cooperate.” He said as he helped her up. “Mind zipping me back up?” She asked. John sighed and zipped the tight fitting outfit back over her beautiful body. The two continued the rest of the way in silence. Rarity kept her head low until she perked up. “Thank you.” “For?” “Not taking advantage of me. I’ve seen one too many men that have tried.” She said with a small blush. “You may be a thief, but you’re still a woman and no one, no matter what they’ve done deserves that.” “Well, well, well, a cop with a sense of honor. Rare to meet one nowadays.” “I could say the same for you ‘Ms. modern day Robin hood.’” The woman couldn’t help but laugh at the words. “The main reason I steal is for her. So she can have the childhood I never had.” She sad with a small sniffle. “No parents?” “They died in a car accident while we were in London.” “I’m so sorry.” He said in a genuine tone. “Oh please, I wouldn’t expect an officer to understand.” She said in a snooty tone. “Wrong on that note.” He said with a sigh. “I grew up down here. In the sewers of Paris.” Rarity turned around and looked at him in surprise. “Parents didn’t want me and the orphanage was terrible.” “But you said that you’re from Italy and that accent is authentic.” The man cracked his neck and sighed. “I’m from all over the UK lass.” He said as he switched to a Scottish accent. “Been on the run since I was a wee lad.” “So you’re French?” “Yeah, Italian is just my personal favorite accent.” He said switching back to the Italian accent. “I may be a cop, but I understand how it feels.” “To what?” “To steal. I ran with a few other kids from the orphanage. We’d steal, cheat all that stuff.” “So why aren’t you a still a thief then?” She asked. “I found that being a thief eventually catches up to you.” He said in a low tone. “How so?” “A friend of mine stole from the wrong kind of people and they killed him, his wife and their kids.” The woman gulped. “Another got taken in by the cops and was executed.” Rarity gasped at the words. “After that happened, I washed my hands of stealing and applied myself to society. Add in some police training and a few years. Here we are.” The man stopped as he found a ladder leading up to the surface. “Here we go.” He said as he looked up. “How am I supposed to climb that?” She asked as she shook her cuffs. John sighed and firmly gripped her arm. “Hey what are you doing?” He pulled out a key and removed the handcuffs. He then put them back on so that her hands were in front of her. He took her arms and put them over his neck. “Try to strangle me and I’ll drop you. Got it?” The woman gave him a nod. She wrapped her legs around his waist and clung to him. Even through the muck and dirt the woman could still make out the smell of the man’s cologne. She rested her head against he back of his neck and sighed. “The women here must love you.” She purred. “Hardly. I’m not much for the dating scene and French women don’t really....do it for me.” He said with a shrug. “Oh?” She said in a surprised tone. “So what does catch your fancy then?” “Why do you care?” He asked in suspicion. “Just making conversation.” She said in an innocent sounding tone. As the two got to the top of the ladder the man pressed his hand against the manhole cover and slid it off. Rarity got out first with the man right behind her. “Good, now all we have to do is-” He was cut off as he felt a blunt object strike the back of his head. “John!” The woman yelled in shock. She looked up and gulped as he saw a man with a wicked smile on his face and a night stick in his right hand. “Well, look what we have here. It must be my birthday.” He said as he licked his lips. Rarity gulped and tried to run but soon felt the pain of the gunshot creep up. She fell on the ground and grunted in pain. “Oh this is just too perfect.” He said with a laugh. “Just when I thought that tonight was going to be a bust and here you are.” “P-please. If its money you want then-” The woman was cut off as she felt the man grab her by her hair and lift her up. “Put me down this instant or I will-” She was cut off as the man started to feel her up. Rarity tried to scream but felt a callused hand cover her mouth. The man had and evil grin on his face as he started to unzip the woman’s outfit. Rarity felt tears form in her eyes as the man grabbed her breast. The hand was then removed as Rarity felt the man get throne of her body like a gale force wind would a piece of paper. Her sapphire eyes widened as she saw the bloody faced detective slam his fist into the man’s face. The attacker pulled out his nightstick and tried to slam it into the detective’s face. John caught the assailant’s wrist and gave it a hard twist. Rarity gulped as she heard a loud snapping sound. The attacker cried in pain and lashed out at the law man. John parried the attack and grabbed a fistful of the man’s blonde hair. John clenched his right hand into a fist and focused all the strength in his hand as he delivered a bone shattering punch and caused the hair he had in his grip to be ripped from the attacker’s scalp. The attacker grunted in pain and fell on the ground as he cursed. John took several deep breaths before walking over to the side of the alley where his pistol lay. He put it against the back of the man’s head and pulled out another pair of handcuffs and attached them to the culprit’s wrist. “Well, if it isn’t the Ripper. I’ve been looking for you for weeks.” He then looked at Rarity who was still trying to regain her composure. “Stay there. I’ll be right back.” The woman gave him a slow nod. John grabbed the man and kept his gun to the attacker’s head. He led him inside the nearest shop and looked at the frightened receptionist. She looked like she was in her mid forties. A few wrinkles showed near her brown eyes and her dark hair had a few streaks of grey in it and was in a ponytail fashion. “Paris PD.” He said as he showed her his badge. “Call the police and tell them that you saw this man assault a woman in an alley way okay?” The store clerk nodded and quickly dialed the number. He un-cuffed the man and re cuffed him so that his arms were chained around a metal bar that was attached to the floor. “Congratulations.” He said to the clerk who just finished calling the police. “For what?” The clerk asked. “You just caught the Ripper.” Before the clerk could say a word, John hurried back to the woman. Rarity was still sitting on the ground shaking. Tears stained her face. John sat down next to her and put his coat around her. “Hey, you okay?” “He almost.....I could have been.....” The woman tried to spit out the sentence. The woman cried into his shoulder and he put an arm around her. He hesitantly ran a hand through her violet locks trying to calm her down. “Hey, it’s okay.” He said as he tried to comfort her. “I may be a thief, but I’m still human damn it!” She cried. John undid one of her handcuffs and cuffed his own to the open end. “What did you do that for?” “Just so that you don’t try to run or so that nothing else happens to you.” He said with a shrug. “I’ve seen women get treated like dirt and it always makes my blood boil. A good seventy-five percent of me wanted to shoot him dead.” He said as he helped the thief to her feet. “Why didn’t you?” “I don’t want killing on my conscious, plus I think he’ll get what’s coming to him in prison.” The woman tensed up as she heard police sirens. John bit his lip and let out a sigh. “Look, I’m going to give you a choice. Either we both walk out now and you spend the night in the slammer, or if you behave and don’t do anything stupid I’ll take you in tomorrow morning.” Rarity looked at him in shock. “What? Why are you offering me that?” “You may be a criminal, but after something like that the last thing you need is a prison cell.” John sighed. “Do we have a deal?” He asked as he outstretched his hand. Rarity smiled and shook it. “I mean it. No escape attempts, no fast moves and no bullshit or the deals off and I call the cops on your sexy ass.” John blushed as he realized what he had just said. “Checking out my body have you?” She cooed in a soft voice. John blushed as the woman giggled. “I accept your offer detective and I will give you my word that I shall pull no tricks this night.” She said as she shook his hand. “For your sake I hope so.” He said with a sigh. “C’mon my apartment is just a few blocks from here. We’d better get going,” He said as he saw a police car take the rapist away. “fast.” He led the woman through the back alley and through the streets. Rarity held the man’s cuffed hand with her own. “Why are you holding my hand?” “So it looks less suspicious than being handcuffed to one another.” She said in a hushed tone. “Unless you’re into that sort of thing.” She teased. John’s face turned bright red to her delight. “Oh you are so cute when you’re flustered.” “Shut it!” “Here I thought you were enjoying my company.” She said with a snide smile. “Lets just get to my place.” “Getting any ideas?” “Ideas about what?” He asked in confusion. “You. Me. Your place. A nice soft bed. Handcuffs.” She said as she waggled her eyebrows. John’s face turned bright red as he walked into the lobby with the girl in tow. He stopped at the glass door and rang the buzzer near the speaker. “Who is it?” A gravely voice said. “Its John you crazy fool.” The man heard a click noise and opened up the door and led the woman inside. “Why so late J-” The man was cut off as he noticed the beautiful woman standing beside him with her arm wrapped around his. He looked at the man who had a bright blush on his face. “I see. Working late eh?” He said with a smug grin. “Sean, say one word and so help me I’ll-” “Oh don’t be mean to the nice man darling.” Rarity said as she rested her head on his shoulder. “Evening Madame.” He said with a friendly nod. John face palmed and quickly made his way to the elevator. “Have fun you two~” He teased. The detective grunted as he and the woman got in the elevator. “He seems nice.” She chuckled. “Ugh, god give me strength.” He said as he looked up. “Why did I even suggest this?” “Because you’re undoubtedly infatuated with me.” She said with a wink. The motion caused the man to blush brightly. “No! You were in no condition to be interrogated and I wouldn’t get anything useful out of you.” “Such a gentleman.” She purred as she rested her head against his shoulder. The elevator stopped at the seventh floor and the two got out. He walked her to room number seventeen and fished around in his pocket for his key. He pulled it out and entered his apartment. It was complete with a living area, kitchenette, a full sized bedroom connected to a bathroom with a shower and tub. “I must say this is very nice.” “Its not much, but its home.” He said as he put the key on his bed counter. The woman smelled herself and almost puked. “I’d like to take a shower. We were mucking around in the sewers after all.” “Fine.” He un-cuffed her and led her to the bathroom. The room was simple. One toilet and one shower/bath. There were no windows and the man closed the door. “When you’re done put your clothes out here so I can wash them.” “Thank you dear.” A few seconds later he saw the skin tight suit being dropped by a slender light skinned arm. He took the outfit and made his way over to the washer and dryer. As he placed the suit in the washer he felt something hard within the suit. He felt around inside and found a small zipper near the thigh area. He unzipped it and his eyes shrank. He was holding the Fire Ruby necklace in his hands. He frowned as the door opened to reveal a the woman with a towel wrapped around her mid section and one wrapped around her hair. “Ah, that feel so much....uh-oh.” She said as he saw the man holding the necklace. “You told me that you stashed it on a roof top!” He said with a frown. “Oh like I’d throw away a gem that valuable.” “This is going back where it belongs!” He said as he put it on the table. “I figured that you’d find it eventually when you caught me.” She said with a sigh. John grunted and turned the washer machine on. “Your suit will be done in a few minutes.” He said with a groan. He grabbed a set of boxers and a T shirt before making his way into his bathroom. Rarity rolled her eyes and started to look around the man’s apartment. Nothing worth stealing. She came over to his desk and saw an old picture of three small boys. The one on the left had dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes. The one on the right had messy jet black hair and green eyes. The one in the middle had silver eyes and messy brown hair. The thief let out a sigh and returned to the man’s room. She looked out the window to see no fire escape. She could scale the wall had her leg not been injured, but she wasn’t prepared to take that risk. As she looked back towards the bathroom she saw that the door was cracked enough to peek into. The woman silently made her way over to the door and peered into the crack. The man had already stepped out and had a towel wrapped around his lower body. Rarity’s eyes grew wide as she saw a few scars over the man’s well toned chest and back. John twisted his back and turned it so that it was facing the doorway. Rarity’s jaw dropped when she saw a large tattoo on the man’s back. Something clicked in the back of her mind. Something she learned while she was visiting the boot shaped country. The English translation for La Volpe is ‘The Fox.’ She walked over to the man’s badge and looked at his I.D. Detective John Foxtrot. Age: 25 DOB: 2/19/88 Badge #: B1729F The woman’s heart skipped a beat and she heard the door to the bathroom open. She put down the badge and sat on the bed with an innocent look on her face. “What are you doing?” “Just wondering how your T.V. works.” She said as she looked at the 40” flatscreen. The man picked up a remote and clicked it on. A news woman with shoulder length blonde hair and bright blue eyes while wearing a peach colored suit was sitting at a table with a few papers in front of her. “In recent news; the serial rapist known as the Ripper was caught tonight by Detective John Foxtrot.” The man face palmed and groaned. “A bystander claims that the man came in hauling the assailant into his shop and cuffed him to the support beam of the store before vanishing off into the night. The Ripper has been identified as one Han Maxwell, a convicted felon and will be-” The screen turned black as the man clicked the remote. “Fuck.” He said as he sat on the bed. “What’s wrong? You stopped that horrendous man.” “Yeah, but now I gotta deal with the media hounds.” He said as he sat on his bed. He saw the woman’s injured leg and sighed. “If you want I can take a look at that.” Rarity looked down at her thigh and nodded. John got to his feet and pulled out a med kit from his bathroom. He set the kit on the bed next to the woman who was lying on her side. John pulled out some disinfectant and poured it into a rag. He felt the woman’s soft skin beneath his callused fingers. “This is probably going to sting.” He said as he pressed it on the thief’s leg. Rarity tensed and bit her lip at the pain. “You’re a doctor too?” “Far from it.” He said in a flat tone. “I just know how to take care of myself.” He said as he started wrapping the wound. “I’ll take another look at it tomorrow morning.” He said as he got up and put the med kit back. Rarity smirked and walked over to were the necklace was. “Don’t get any ideas.”
“Oh I’m just trying it on Johnny.” She said with a giggle. “Don’t call me that.” He groaned. The woman draped the necklace over her head and looked at herself in the mirror. “What do you think?” John gulped as he looked at her form. Her hips were perfectly ratio’d with her breasts and her gymnastic build gave her a lean hourglass appearance. The damp towel clung to her body. She removed the towel from her head. Her purple hair, no free from the grime, dirt and sweat it had accumulated now shined in the dim lighting of the apartment. The gem necklace was sitting perfectly on her chest just bellow the butterfly tattoo. Rarity smiled as she saw the man’s ever reddening face. “You look...nice.” He said as he turned away. “Just nice?” The beauty as she swayed her hips as she approached him. The woman sat down next to him and looked at him with half lidded eyes. “You always wear your jewels to bed?” He asked with a gulp. “Yes,” She said as she moved her face closer o his ear. “and nothing else La Volpe.” John’s eyes shrank and he turned to look at her. “W-what did you just call me?” “I may not know the complete language, but that tattoo of yours gave it away.” She said with a sly smile. John grabbed her by the shoulders and pinned her to the bed. “Oh frisky as a fox I see.” “Can it!” He bellowed. “Now relax darling. I’m not going to tell anyone.” She said with a small giggle. “For a price at least.” “If its letting you go then forget it. I doubt they’d believe a thief anyway.” He grunted. “Oh are you so sure? I’ll already be going to prison so why would I lie?” John felt sweat forming on the top of his brow. The thought of him spending the rest of his life inside a prison cell was enough to scare anyone. “I wasn’t even going to suggest letting me go because we both know you wouldn’t do it.” “Very true.” He said as he frowned. “So what do you want me to do?” “To steal something from me.” She said with a grin. “What would that be? The gems?” He asked as he looked at the necklace. The woman giggled at the answer. “Oh no, what I want you to steal is something far more valuable than some jewels.” The man was now throughly perplexed at the woman’s words. He felt her good leg wrap around his waist. In one swift motion the woman switched their positions and she pinned him to the bed with her hands firmly grasped on his wrists. “What are-” John was cut off as he felt a pair of warm lips meet his own. The detective froze as his brain tried to comprehend what the woman was doing. A low pitched moan came from the woman as she prodded at the man’s mouth with her tongue for entry. John was so entranced by the kiss that he didn’t feel handcuff being attached to his left wrist. An audible metallic snap brought the man back to reality. “Just so you don’t get an idea’s on leaving.” Rarity said as she lifted up her right wrist and showed the other end. “Why?” He asked with a gulp. “Well, its like this dear.” She said as she leaned in closer to the man. “Nearly all my life I’ve had boys run up to me in hopes of getting some ‘one on one’ time with me. Some of them proposed on the spot, hell some of them were married.” She said with a giggle. “I turned them all down. Want to know why?” “I have a feeling that you’re gonna tell me anyway.” He said as he struggled in his restraints. “I made a promise to my late mother that I would wait for the right man.” “You think that guy is me?” Now it was John’s turn to laugh. “Okay now you’re just crazy.” “Why is that?” “You don’t even know me! I’m a cop and you’re a criminal!” “Opposites do attract.” She cooed. “I’m the guy who’s arresting you tomorrow morning!” “So? If I’m going to lose it to someone I at least want to know their name.” “You honestly expect me to believe that you’re a virgin? Yeah, and I’m Mary Queen of Scott.” “Only one way to find out.” She said in a soft voice. Rarity the straddled the man’s hips and let the towel fall to her sides. The man’s face turned bright red as he saw her full naked form. Her breasts weren’t too big nor too small. Her stomach was flat with muscle. One or two scars were placed on her abdomen. What caught his eyes the most were three sapphire diamonds tattooed around her belly button. “Like them?” She asked as she made circular motions with her finger around the three diamonds. “Th-they’re interesting.” He gulped. He tried to advert his eyes but his mind couldn’t push the image of the beautiful woman out of his mind. Rarity giggled and moved her finger down the man’s muscular chest. The action caused him to become even more aroused. “St-stop that!” “Oh you’re so cute.” She said with a giggle. The woman leaned forwards and looked at him with half lidded eyes. “This is entirely your decision you know.” “H-how so?” John asked as he tried to control his primal urges. “I’m just giving you the opportunity to take something. Once a thief always a thief.” She said in a playful tone. “I could lose my job over this!” “Not unless you tell them and like you said who would believe a thief?” She purred. “Besides its so much fun teasing you.” The woman then started to lightly nibble his neck. Hundreds of thoughts raced through John’s mind. Sure he had been with a few women in his life but he has never been in a position like this. She is very beautiful. She’s a criminal! The war in his head raged on and the woman smirked as she saw sweat forming on his brow. “If it helps then think of this as a last request before I get locked up in prison.” John’s face was red a beat as he felt the woman’s cuffed arm tugging at his. Rarity slowly positioned her self over his groin and started to grind. The thief’s face was bright red as she extended a finger and ran it along the man’s length. “Oh my.” She said with a wink. John’s mind was in a stated of complete chaos. Sure he had been with a few women before but he has never been in a position like this. The thief started to gently rub the man’s shaft and she nit her lip as her face grew red. The last of the detective’s resistance drained away at that moment. He circled his free hand around her back and he made it so that he was on top of her. “Like I said, frisky as a fox.” She purred. The two locked lips and moans escaped them both. With his free hand, John started to massage her right breast which made the woman moan in passion. The motions were almost too much for the woman to take as she started to pant heavily. “Please....I can’t take anymore.” She said as she looked at the man with half lidded eyes. John nodded and put his arms underneath her back as his erect member slowly prodded entrance into her moist walls. Rarity gasped as she felt the man’s rod slowly enter her. John saw a small tear form in her eye and started to pull himself out. “I’ll be fine...I always heard...that it was painful the first time.” She panted. John slid the rest of it in her and her eyes rolled in the back of her head in pleasure. The man slowly brought himself out and quickly thrusted back into the woman. Rarity cried out in passion as she felt his length hit her back wall. John pressed his lips against hers. “You’re such a gentleman detective." the woman cooed. John then felt himself being flipped over again by the woman. Rarity looked down at him with lust in her eyes. “Too bad I’m such a bad girl.” She maneuvered herself over his shaft and thrusted herself down onto the eight inches of muscle. She started to rapidly slide up and down on the shaft as she moaned in pleasure. Her breasts were bouncing with the rest of her body. John was nearing his peak as Rarity continued her actions. “Rarity...I’m going to-” “Me too.” She yelled as she leaned over and locked lips with the man. Her cuffed hand gripped the man’s as she felt her climax reach. A shiver went up her spine as she felt the man’s juices enter her body. John was in pure ecstasy as he felt her tight walls clamp around his rod trying to get every last drop of its prize out from the rod. Rarity collapsed on the man’s chest and panted heavily. “That was just wonderful darling.” She said as she nuzzled her chest.” “So were you.” He panted. “Not bad for your first time.” He said with a smile. After the haze of lust had cleared his mind he remembered that he would be arresting the woman in the morning and a crushing sense of guilt hit him like a train wreck. “I’m....sorry.” “For what dear?” “You just lost your virginity to the man who’s going to throw you in a cell tomorrow.” Rarity sat up and looked at the man. “I told you that I was waiting for the right man and I have indeed found him.” She said as she kissed him. “Its my duty to lock away people like you.” “It doesn’t have to be this way you know.” She said as she rested her head on his chest. The detective looked at her in confusion. “Come with me.” “What?” He said in surprise. “We leave together. Think about it. We’d be the perfect team.” John thought about it and thought about the old days during his 'career.' His eyes shrank and shook his head as his mind was filled with images of his late friends. “I gave up that life.” “Oh well, can’t blame a girl for trying.” She said as she closed her eyes. “Remember no tricks.” “Oh relax darling. I’m in no condition to walk, much less escape.” She cooed. a few minutes later the woman was sound asleep and softly snoring. John closed his eyes and soon fell asleep with the thief in his arms. The morning sun lit up the man’s bedroom and he sighed knowing that he’d have to arrest the beauty. “Morning~” A sing song voice said. John looked up to see the woman in some of his clothes and a smile on her face. His eyes shrank as he felt both his hands bound by the handcuffs he had used to tie her. The chain was around one of his headboard’s railings. He tried to yell but felt a piece of duck tape over his mouth. “Oh hush now.” The woman teased. The man bashed against his restraints. “I’ll take the tape off if you promise not to scream. Or I could leave you here until room service arrives.” The man grunted and nodded. Rarity walked over and ripped the tape off. The sticky substance ripped some of his facial hairs out. “Ow!” He yelled. The woman rolled her eyes and couldn’t help but giggle at the man’s tearing eyes. “You said no tricks!” “If you remember I said I wouldn’t pull any tricks last night and I did this early this morning.” She cooed. “You won’t get away with this!” “Oh come now darling, is that anyway to speak to a lady?” She said as she sat down on the bed and tapped his nose. “Sorry Johnny, but I have a little sister to take care of. Its nothing personal, just business.” “I guess that goes the same for last night then.” He spat out. The woman leaned in close so that her eyes were just inches away from his. “Oh no, that was very personal. It was better than I could ever have imagined.” She said as she pressed her lips against his. “I can easily say that I’ve fallen for you.” She cooed. John gulped as he looked at the thief. “You can have your ruby back. Its on the coffee table along with the key to those cuffs.” She said as she stood up and made her way towards the door. “Hey what am I supposed to do?” He yelled as he rattled the restraints. “You’re a master thief, I’m sure that this isn’t the first time you’ve been in cuffs.” She said as she opened the door with her spandex suit in a plastic bag. “Ta-ta, my little fox.” She said as she blew a kiss to him. The door closed and the man cursed at the woman. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John stumbled into the police station with the ruby in his pocket and a broken right thumb. As he walked into the main floor everyone clapped for him. The young detective walked up to his friend and patted him on the back. “Congratulations!” Jones said with a smile. “For?” “Catching the Ripper!” He said with a smile. “The clerk said an officer came in with a man and chained him to the support beam.” “How did you know it was me?” “She said that he had this brooding look about him. Not to mention we pulled some skin from his teeth and it matched your DNA.” He chuckled. John rolled his eyes and sat down at his desk. “Hey you’re sure to make inspector now.” “If that didn’t do it then this will.” The rookie looked at him in confusion. The detective reached into his pocket and pulled out the fire ruby necklace. The place then exploded in surprise as he held up the gem. The light hit the ruby and it shined like a small sun. “You caught the Papillon?” Another detective shouted. “No, she got away and wiped the gem with ammonia. No prints.” He said as he put the gem on his desk. The young detective chuckled as he looked at the older man. “What's so funny?” “This.” The young man then held up a small evidence bag. At first glance it appeared to hold nothing. John’s eyes shrank as he saw a few strands of purple hair inside the bag. “Jenkins found them on the scene. We’ve got an address. You coming?” “Y-yeah.” He said as he followed his partner towards his car. “What happened to your hand?” Jones asked as he saw his bandaged thumb. “Ripper must have broken it during the scuffle.” John said as he got in the passenger seat. During the car ride the detective rolled around several ideas in his head. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. His mind was torn between the woman and his duty. A slight nudge roused him from his sleep. He looked to see his partner getting out of the car. John quickly made his way out of the car. He looked around to see a small town. The streets were made of cobble stone and small shops decorated the streets. “Huh, never knew this place existed.” The young detective said. “Yeah.” He said in a low tone. “You okay?” “Yeah why?” “Don’t know, you’re acting weirder than usual.” Jones said as the two walked up to a small dress shop. A bell chimed as they opened the door. Soon a small girl that looked like she was at the age of ten came out with a smile on her face. “Hi.” John recognized the voice as the one he spoke to on the phone. The young detective crouched down and smiled. “Hey there, what’s your name?” “I’m Sweetie Belle.” She said with a smile. “How can I help you?” “Is your mother or sister home?” Jones asked. “My sister is in the back. Why do you need her?” She asked in an innocent tone. “We’re detectives.” He said as he pulled out his badge. “Your sister may be in a lot of trouble.” The little girl then kicked the younger detective in the shin. A chuckle escaped out of the former thief. “How dare you!” She said in a squeaky voice. “My sister is the best sister there is! She would never do anything bad.” She argued as the man rubbed his leg. “You always have a way with kids Jones.” John chuckled. “Sweetie Belle?” John tensed up as he heard the woman’s voice. Jones’ jaw dropped as he saw the violet haired beauty wearing a knee length skirt and a white blouse. “Oh hello there how can I,” She stopped dead in her tracks as she saw the detective from last night. “help you?” “Ma’am we’d just like to ask you a few questions.” Jones said as he showed her his badge. “Of course.” she said as she looked down at her little sister. “Sweetie go in the back. I have to talk with these two fine gentlemen about something.” The woman's mind was filled with fear as she turned back around to face the two law men. “Okay sis.” She said as she smiled. John watched the little girl happily skip away. The man’s thoughts were then filled by images of the small girl in an orphanage and succuming to his trajic childhood. “So how can I help you detectives?” She asked. Even though she wasn’t showing it John could see the look of pure fear in her eyes. “Late last night the Papillon attempted to steal the Fire Ruby necklace.” Jones started. “Upon further investigation, we discovered this at the crime scene.” He said as he held up a small lock of purple hair in the bag. “It matches your DNA Ms?” “R-Rarity Belle.” She said as she started to sweat. “I don’t know why my hair would be there. “I have a perfect explanation.” John stated. “It came from me.” Both adults looked at him in confusion. “Jones, I’d like you to meet my girlfriend.” He said as he walked over to the designer and put an arm around her. “What?” Jones yelled. “You asked if I was having dinner with someone last night right? Well, I was.” He lied with a grin. “Her hair must have gotten stuck on my suit and fallen off when I was inspecting the crime scene.” Rarity and the detective were looking at him in confusion. “Isn’t that right dear?” “Y-yes, quite right.” “Then why didn’t you say something sooner?” Jones yelled. “It took us an hour and a half to get here!” He yelled out of frustration. “Remember when you put hot sauce on my sandwich? Payback.” “I ruin your lunch and you make me drive into some back water town?” Rarity frowned. “You send one of my people to the hospital I send one of your to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way.” He said in an American accent. “Oh I love the Untouchables!” Rarity chimed. Jones looked at her and then back at his partner. “How do you get so lucky?” He whined. “I just am.” He said. Jones rolled his eyes and exited the shop. Rarity hugged the man and cried into his shoulder. “Th-thank you!” She said as her tears ruined her mascara. “I didn’t do it for you.” He said with a sigh. Rarity then saw Sweetie Belle peeking her head out of the doorway. “You were the nice man I talked to on the phone weren’t you?” She said as she walked up to them. “Yeah, that was me.” “Rarity! Why didn’t you tell me you were dating?” She said as she made a pouting face. “Last night was our first date.” Rarity giggled. “My sister’s dating a policeman! Scootaloo is going to be so jealous!” She said before running off to her room. “Scootaloo?” He asked. “Her friends all have their nicknames for one another.” She giggled. “Oh and just so you know, this is a one time thing.” Rarity felt her heart sink. “If I catch you again then you’re going to jail.” “I understand.” She said in a sad tone. “To make sure that doesn’t happen I’m going to transfer here so I can keep an eye on you.” Rarity looked up at the man and grinned. “It’ll take a bit of time, but since I brought back the gem, the chief will be understanding.” “I’m planing another heist tomorrow at eight o’clock at the Grape Orchard Restaurant.” “Oh I’ll be there watching you like-” “A fox?” She giggled. "Oh and make sure you bring the handcuffs." She whispered as she gave him a small peck on the cheek. The thief giggled as the detective exited her shop with a grin on his face. The detective couldn't help but smile as he thought about the woman that had completely stolen his heart.
