Chapter 1 - Where Am I?

*Joshua’s P.O.V.*


It’s almost been a year since I came to Equestria, two months since I was saved from Sombra.  Mine and Dinky’s date on Hearts and Hooves Day was the best night I ever had.  Today isn’t a good day though.  Nyx is sick.   Right now, Mommy is making her some orange juice for me to take up to her.

“Just be careful around her, Joshua,” she said giving me the cup, “Whenever a unicorn or an alicorn gets sick, there’s no telling what their magic will do, especially when they sneeze.”

“I’ll be careful Mommy,” I said.  I then walked up the stairs to the room we all shared.  Spike wasn’t at the library today.  He had to go to Canterlot for some important business Mommy said.  I then knocked on the door to Nyx’s room.  “Nyx?  Can I come in?  I brought you some orange juice.”

“Come on in,” she said.  I opened the door and saw Nyx lying in the bed we shared.  Her eyes were half open and red.  When Nyx first got her cold, a white Earth Pony mare with a pink mane and tail, blue eyes, and a red cross cutie mark named Nurse Redheart came to check up on her.  She said that Nyx had to stay in bed for a few days.  I felt bad for her.  Mommy and I couldn’t be in the same room as Nyx when we slept at night, or else we might catch her cold.

“Are you feeling any better big sister?” I asked her.

“A little bit,” she said sniffling, “But I’m sure the orange juice will help.  Thanks Joshua.”

I walked over and put the cup of juice on the nightstand next to her bed.

“You're welcome, big sister,” I said smiling at her.  She smiled back at me.  I then saw a book on her bed.  “What are you reading?” I asked.

“It’s the next Daring Do book; Daring Do and the Legend of the Seaponies,” she said.

“That’s cool,” I said.

“Yeah,” Nyx said nodding, “There’s one part where Daring is being chased by Ah...........AH.........AAAAHHHH...CHOO!!!”  Nyx sneezed and a blast of magic came out of her horn.  It started bouncing around the room.  “Joshua, watch out!” Nyx said.  I stood up and ran to the door, but I felt the magic blast hit me.

“AAH!!!” I yelled.  I got knocked down onto the ground.

“JOSHUA!” I heard Nyx yell, but her voice was going quiet.  I could hear her calling for Mommy, but I was falling asleep, “TWILIGHT, HELP!!!  Joshua is...”


*Twilight’s P.O.V.*


I was quietly working on a report for Princess Celestia while Joshua took the glass of juice up to Nyx.  I was worried though.  One blast from Nyx’s magic when she sneezed, and who knows what could happen to Joshua?

“JOSHUA!” I heard Nyx yell, “TWILIGHT, HELP!!!  JOSHUA IS FADING!!!”

I ran up the stairs as fast as I could and burst through the door into Nyx’s room.  I saw Joshua in front of me on the ground, but he was fading away.

“JOSHUA!!!” I said trying to pick him up, but my hooves went right through him!  “OH NO NONONONONO!!!  What happened?!”

“I was showing him a book I was reading, but then I sneezed and a blast of magic came out of my horn and hit him!” Nyx said tears stinging her eyes.  I used my magic to read what spell Joshua got hit with, and gasped when I realized what it was.

“Well Nyx,” I said to her, “There’s good news and there’s bad news.  The good news is you didn’t hurt Joshua.”

“Well that’s brings some relief,” Nyx said, “But where did he go?!”  I looked down and saw that Joshua was no longer there.

“That’s the bad news Nyx,” I said to her, “You teleported him to another dimension.”


*Joshua’s P.O.V.*


When I woke up, I felt blankets over me.  I opened my eyes and I saw that I was in Fluttershy’s room in her cottage.  I then sat up and looked around.  I felt very dizzy too.  Nyx’s magic put a funny feeling in my hands and feet.

“You’re awake!”

I looked to the side and was surprised to see another human standing there.  He looked about my age, had light skin like me, brown hair, a red hooded jacket, a blue shirt, blue pants, red and black sneakers, and glasses on his face.  He ran over to the stairs and called down them.

“Momma!” he said, “He’s awake!”

“Oh thank goodness!” said a voice that sounded like Fluttershy’s, “I’ll be up there in a minute sweetie!”

He then walked back over to me and put his hands on the bed.

“Are you okay?” he asked me.

“I think so,” I said, “But I feel a little dizzy.  How did I get in Fluttershy’s cottage?”

“Huh?” he said, “How do you know Momma?”

“Momma?” I asked, “Fluttershy’s your Momma?”

“Yeah, she is,” he answered smiling.

“But, I don’t remember her having a human in her house,” I said, “How did I get here though?”

“You came in a white ball of light,” he said, “I was outside helping Momma with her animals when I saw a white ball of light appear in front of me.  You fell out of it onto the ground and the white ball of light went away.  Momma helped bring you inside and you haven’t woken up until today.”

“How long was I asleep?” I asked him.  He put a hand to his chin and rubbed it thinking.

“Two days,” he said, “Momma’s making something for you to eat.  You must be hungry.”

My tummy growled when he said that.

“Yeah, I am,” I said nodding.  I then realized we didn’t tell each other our names.  “My name is Joshua,” I said holding out my hand, “What’s your name?”

He smiled, put his hand in mine, shook it, and said, “It’s good to meet you Joshua.  My name is Toby Mason!”

Chapter 2 - Joshua’s Story

*Toby’s P.O.V*


As I wait for Momma to come upstairs I give Joshua a soft smile. Although I didn’t show it, I was so excited and in awe about seeing another human, another kid in Equestria. However, it made me wonder exactly how he ended up here in the first place.

That sure was strange for him to just appear out of nowhere like that. It was just like magic. Maybe after he gets something to eat and if Momma won’t mind, we could go see Auntie Twilight. She’ll probably know what to do since she is a princess, but also the Element of Magic.

My thoughts were cut off as I could hear hoof steps approaching. Joshua and I turned around to see Momma reaching the top of the stairs. I watched as she was carrying a small bowl on her back and I walked over to her.

I smiled up at her as I walked over to her side. “Here Momma, I’ll take it over to him,” I said softly. She leaned down a little for me to reach the bowl and I carefully took it off her back.

She stood back up and gave me a soft kiss on the forehead. “Thank you sweetheart,” she said as nuzzled at my cheek, causing me to blush. I turned around and walked over to Joshua to give him his bowl of oatmeal.

“Here you go Joshua. You’ll like Momma’s oatmeal, it’s my favorite food to eat for breakfast,” I said with a bright smile. “She adds milk to it to soften the oats, and honey to make it sweet.”


*Joshua’s P.O.V*


I gave Toby a nod as I looked down at the warm bowl of oatmeal. It did look tasty, and I was hungry. I took the spoon offered by Fluttershy into my hand and scooped some out to take my first bite. As soon as the oatmeal touched my tongue and I started eating, a soft smile formed across my mouth.

“Mm… that is good Toby,” I said as I continued to eat at my breakfast. I looked up to see Fluttershy gently trot up behind Toby and place a hoof gently on his shoulder.

“Oh, I’m sorry Momma,” he spoke softly as he looked up at her with a soft smile. “Momma, this is Joshua. Joshua this is my Momma, Fluttershy,” he said with a blushing smile as she returned it.

I let out a light giggle as I watched the two together. I put the spoon down in the bowl for a second “Hello Fluttershy, it’s good to meet you, and thank you for the oatmeal. I was getting hungry,” I said with a soft smile.

She nodded and returned the smile “Hello Joshua sweetie. It’s nice to meet you too and you’re very welcome. I’m glad you like it.” She looked down at Toby with a warm smile and kissed him on his forehead.

Hm… I wonder how Toby ended up in Equestria. Well, not the Equestria that I know, but still I wonder how another human ended up here.

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Fluttershy speak to me “How are you feeling Joshua? You were out for two days, and we were starting to get worried that you won’t wake up.” I sighed softly as I finished up the oatmeal quickly, because I was so hungry.

I placed the empty bowl over onto the table beside her bed and turned back to her and Toby. “I’m feeling okay, but I didn’t know I was out for two days.” I reached up to scratch the back of my head.

Fluttershy gave me a warm smile, but questioning look “Well, that is good to know sweetie… but if it’s okay for me to ask Joshua… what happened to make you appear in a flash like that?” She kept her hoof on Toby’s shoulder as he hugged at it.

I looked at both of them and sighed softly. “Before I woke up here, the last thing I remember was taking my big sister Nyx some orange juice, because she was sick. When I walked into her room she was reading a book, and I asked what it was about,” as I spoke I could see confusion on each of their faces.


*Fluttershy’s P.O.V*


While the little one was explaining how he ended up outside mine and Toby’s cottage, Toby looked up at me and I looked down at him confusedly. I softly cleared my throat “Um… excuse me Joshua… I’m sorry to interrupt, but whose Nyx?”

He looked at me and Toby with an awkward smile “Oh, hehe… I guess I’ll explain,” he said as he took in a deep breath and exhaled deeply.

It all started when I was living on Earth with my mommy and daddy. We were a happy family who did everything together like play board games before I went to bed, had dinner every night in which my mommy always cooked the best food, and they would tell me bedtime stories when they tucked me in. We loved each other very much, but it all would change on my seventh birthday.

I saw Joshua lower his head toward his lap and I could see a stray tear fall down his cheek. I frowned as I carefully lifted my hoof off Toby’s shoulder and trotted over to my dresser to retrieve a tissue and brought it back to give to him. He gently took it from my hoof and thanked me. He wiped away his tear and continued.

My mommy and daddy both worked as scientists, and together they worked on a project starting on my fourth birthday. When my seventh birthday came, I woke up to some really loud noises outside and I climbed out of my bed, and ran to look for them. I didn’t find them in their room, so I decided to go down to the basement where they were working on their project.

I was scared of what was happening so I burst through the basement door to see they were finishing up whatever they were working on. I asked them what was going on, and they said the world was coming to an end, but there was a way to escape it. But the only way to avoid being involved in it would only save me.

The project they were working on was a portal machine that would send whoever got inside it anywhere they wanted. They didn’t want to tell me what they were building, because I was too young at the time to understand. I was a little happy to know that there was a way to escape the end of the world, but my heart broke the instant they told me the machine only had enough energy to send me away.

I started to cry, but they did all they could to comfort me, and told me that as long as I have my locket…

I and Toby watched as he pulled a heart shaped locket. As soon as we saw the locket, I looked down to see Toby looking up at me with a wondrous smile because it looked like the locket that his own mommy gave to him. I gave Toby a warm smile as we looked at Joshua as he continued his story.

I would always have them in my heart, and then I told them that I loved both of them very much and good bye before I was teleported through the portal. The machine teleported me to somewhere strange, but then I met Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. I gave them a note that my mommy and daddy wanted me to give to whoever found me. It told the ones who found me to give me a good home and take good care of me.

Princess Celestia and Princess Luna took me to see Princess Twilight Sparkle who would soon become my adoptive mommy. Then I met her daughter Nyx who is the filly version of Princess Luna’s darker side, Nightmare Moon. That’s another long story that I might tell you two later. Nyx would become my big sister, Spike my big brother, then I would meet my aunts; Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and you Fluttershy.

Finally I met the best friends a kid could have in Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and more. Then I would meet a filly who would become my filly friend, Dinky Doo.

We smile at Joshua as a blush forms on his cheek.

And that is how I ended up in Equestria, and Twilight became my mommy and I have a big loving family.

“Well, that is good to know that you have a family Joshua, but I’m terribly sorry for the loss of your mommy and daddy. We both are,” I said as I looked down at Toby and I could sense he was on the verge of tears. I leaned my head down to kiss the top of his head “Hey sweetie, how about you go take Joshua’s empty bowl down to the kitchen and get it washed. Then we’ll go and introduce Joshua to our friends.” I gave him a warm smile.

He looked up at me with a light smile and nodded “Okay Momma.” He walked over and took the empty bowl off my bedside table and turned to walk downstairs.

Making sure he was out of view I carefully trotted up to the bed and sat next to it. I reached up and placed a hoof on Joshua’s shoulder “You know Joshua sweetie, your story of how you ended up here is similar to my precious little one’s story. Would you like to hear it?” He gave me a nod “Okay. However, I have to warn you Joshua, it is a tragic tale, but I feel I should tell it, because it hurts Toby too much every time he has to retell it.” He nods in understanding.

I took in a deep breath, and exhaled deeply as I began to tell Toby’s story.

Chapter 3 - Toby's Story

*Joshua’s P.O.V.*


Fluttershy’s face became sad looking when she started telling me Toby’s story.

Over a year ago, I felt really lonely.  I thought about how all of my best friends had someone special to care for, but I didn’t.  That night, I made a wish on Princess Luna’s moon to be the mother or older sister of a little colt or filly.  The next morning I woke up to see Angel trying to tell me something.  I followed him to the edge of the Everfree Forest and there, I saw that he found a little human shivering.

“Was it Toby?” I asked.

“Yes it was,” Fluttershy said nodding and smiling.  She then continued.

I took Toby to introduce him to all of my friends, but while introducing Toby to everypony, he acted very shy and timid, even more so than me. The next day we all showed him to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.  While we were there, Princess Celestia could tell that something was bothering him.  What he told us was very disturbing and heart breaking.  He said that he lost his mother a year ago, and his father told him that it was his fault that she was gone.

“What?!” I said surprised, “Why?!”

“I’ll get to that in a little bit,” Fluttershy said.

We decided to throw Toby a celebration in Canterlot to welcome him to Equestria and show him that he truly was loved and cared for.  During the party, I asked Princess Luna if we could look into Toby’s mind while he was asleep to find out why he was acting shy and timid around us.  Princess Luna agreed and that night while he was asleep, all six of us along with Princess Luna looked into Toby’s memories.

We saw one of when he was a baby, when he was four years old when his mother gave him his locket, which looks a lot like yours, and one shortly after his mother died.  But the last one we saw was terrible.  It was his last night on his old home.  Toby ran into his room crying with his father close behind him.  He said to Toby that why his mother died was so she couldn’t look at his blubbering face again, and he slapped Toby’s cheek really hard.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.  Why would a daddy hurt his own son?  I saw that Fluttershy had tears in her eyes.  She then took a deep breath and continued.

After his father left, Toby looked out the window and made a wish to be in a new home with a new family that would love him and never be mean to him.

“And he was sent to Equestria?” I asked.

“That’s right, and it was Princess Luna who brought him here,” Fluttershy said smiling.

The next morning, I told Toby that we all wanted him to be a part of our family.  He said he would, and he asked me if I could be his momma.  I said yes and adopted him the day after that.  My best friends became his aunts and Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo became his big sisters.  He also gained a filly friend in Silver Spoon.

Fluttershy smiled after she said that, but then frowned again, “Later on though, we found out the real reason his mother died.”

“What happened?”

Princess Luna heard the mind of somepony, and that somepony was Toby’s father.  She looked into his memories and what she saw was terrible.  She showed all of us, Toby included, what really happened.  His mother was on her way to pick him up from school when his father came up and knocked the horseless carriage she was in with his own into a ditch, all because she wouldn’t show him the same amount of attention that she showed Toby.

“So it was his daddy that did it?” I asked, “Because he was jealous?”

“He was and he did,” Fluttershy said nodding sadly.  I felt tears in my eyes when I heard that.

Princess Luna brought his father here so we could confront him and tell him how wrong he was for blaming his own son for his mother’s death.  Everypony then started to decide what punishment would be fitting for Toby’s father, but then we had a surprise visit from Toby’s mother.  After she told Toby that she knew he would make the right decision, we left it up to him to decide what to do.

“So what did he do?” I asked.

“He forgave his father, because his mother taught him that if he stayed mad for a long time, it would change who he was, and he didn’t want to be mad like his father,” Fluttershy said.  I was surprised.  “Toby’s father turned himself in to the authorities back where he came from for killing his wife, with a little bit of chaos on the side.”

“Discord, right?” I asked.

“Mm-hmm,” Fluttershy nodded.

“Wow Fluttershy,” I said sniffling a little bit, “You’re right, that was sad.”  I rubbed my hands against my eyes to wipe away the tears that were falling.  I felt Fluttershy put her hoof on my back and she rubbed it.

“Well, are you feeling better now?” she asked me after I stopped crying.

“Uh-huh,” I said nodding my head, “but I don’t know how I’m going to get back though.  I miss my mommy and Nyx and Spike.”

“Well, we don’t have a Nyx here, but we do have a Twilight and Spike,” Fluttershy said, “Would you like to come with me and Toby and see them, along with our other friends?”

“Yeah,” I said.  Even though it wasn’t going to be the Twilight I called Mommy, it was still going to be Twilight.

“Well, let’s head out then,” Fluttershy said helping me out of her bed.  We then walked downstairs where we saw Toby coming out of the kitchen.  “Are you ready to go sweetie?” she asked him.

“Yes Momma,” Toby replied nodding.  Fluttershy then looked over to a white rabbit who I knew was Angel Bunny.

“Angel, you’re in charge while we’re gone okay?” she said.  Angel nodded and put his paw on his head.  Fluttershy smiled, and Toby and I followed her out of her cottage.

Meanwhile…


*Nyx’s P.O.V.*


It’s been two whole days since I accidentally teleported Joshua to another dimension.  I felt really guilty doing that to my little brother, but at least he wasn’t hurt, or I hope he wasn’t.  Twilight went to Canterlot to tell Princess Celestia what had happened and if there was a way to get him back.  She asked Fluttershy to take care of me while she was away, and she happily accepted.

My cold was starting to go away, but I still had the sniffles though.

“Are you feeling any better Nyx?” Fluttershy asked me.

“Well, my cold is going away,” I said, “But I still feel bad about sending my brother away like that.  Twilight said I teleported him to another dimension.  What if I sent him back to where he came from?!  I would never be able to forgive myself if I did that!”

“Nyx,” Fluttershy gently but firmly said placing a hoof on my back, “I’m pretty sure it’s not as bad as that.  I really don’t believe you sent him there.”

“I’m still worried about him though,” I said.

“We’ll get him back somehow,” Fluttershy said, “Don’t worry.  Everything will be okay.”  I then let out a yawn.  The cold was making me more tired than usual.  “You get some sleep Nyx,” Fluttershy said, “I’ll be here when you wake up.”

“Thanks Fluttershy,” I said falling asleep.


*Twilight’s P.O.V.*


“...and that’s what happened,” I said finishing.  I was in the throne room telling Princess Celestia and Princess Luna what happened to Joshua.  Spike was with me in the room and was shocked to hear what happened as well.

“I see,” Princess Celestia said, “And you say that Nyx is the one who accidentally sent him?”

“Yes,” I said nodding.

Princess Celestia closed her eyes for a few seconds.  She then opened them and looked at me seriously.

“There is only one solution for getting him back then,” she said, “Since Nyx is the one who sent him, then she is the one who has to go wherever she sent him and bring him back.”

“WHAT?!” Spike and I exclaimed.

Chapter 4 - Meeting the other Twilight

*Joshua’s P.O.V*


As we headed toward the Golden Oaks Library to visit Mommy, well just Twilight in this universe, I couldn’t help but look over at Toby every once in a while. I couldn’t stop wondering why a daddy would be so cruel to his own son like Toby’s father was toward him before he came to Equestria. I felt bad for him after going through all that he went through, but he still treated those around him with great care and love.

My thoughts were interrupted when Fluttershy spoke up softly “Um… Joshua, I know that you said Nyx is your big sister in the universe where you come from… but who is Nyx actually… um, if that’s okay for me to ask?” She gave me a warm smile.

I returned the smile and nodded “It’s okay to ask Fluttershy,” I said as I took in a deep breath and exhaled deeply.

When I first came to Equestria, my Mommy wasn’t at home, but Nyx and Spike was. While we waited for Mommy to come, Nyx told me the story of how she came to be. She told me that Mommy once got kidnapped by a group of bad ponies who wanted to bring the evil Nightmare Moon back. They did get some of Mommy’s blood to bring her back, but Princess Celestia stopped them in time before they could fully do it.

Not having enough of Mommy’s blood caused something to happen in bring Nightmare Moon back, and she turned into a filly who would be Nyx After Mommy got better from her kidnapping, she decided to go back to the area where she was taken to and see what she could find out about that group of bad ponies. She couldn’t find anything, but she did find a young filly in the bushes near the area alone and hurt.

Mommy took the filly into her home, washed her up, got her wounds better, and then with time adopted her as her daughter. She then named her Nyx.

“Oh… my, that does sound like a tragic event happening to Twilight, but at least she met her daughter through it all.” Fluttershy gave me a warm smile as we soon arrived at the library.


*Fluttershy’s P.O.V*


When we arrived at the library, I reached a hoof up to knock on the door. “Coming,” we heard the voice of Twilight as soft hoof steps approached. The door opened in her usual lavender magical aura to reveal her standing in the doorway. “Well, hello every pony… oops… hehe… I mean everyone. Please come in,” she said with a warm smile on her face as she stepped aside to let us enter.

“Um… hello Twilight, I hope we aren’t disturbing you or interrupting you if you’re studying.” I lowered my head timidly.

“Of course not Fluttershy, you aren’t disturbing me. Besides, I’m just tidying up the library while Spike is away at Canterlot. Princess Celestia invited him to have lunch with her and Princess Luna and also to get him out of the library to give him some time to himself.” She gave a warm smile as she looked at Toby “And how is my favorite little nephew doing today?” She leaned her head down to nuzzle at his cheek.

Toby giggled at the nuzzle “I’m doing good Auntie Twilight.” I watched as he wrapped his little arms around her neck as she returned the hug, wrapping a foreleg around his back.

She smiled down at him “That is good to hear sweetheart,” she said softly, and then looked over at Joshua. “Oh, and who might this be?” She asked curiously.

Joshua stepped up beside me “Hello M--- I mean Twilight, my name is Joshua,” he said a little hesitantly. I think he wanted to call her Mommy, but he knew she wasn’t the Twilight from his home.

Twilight smiled warmly at him and nodded “Well, it is a pleasure to meet you Joshua. It certainly is weird though to see another human here besides Toby.” She raised an eyebrow and looked at Joshua curiously “If I may ask Joshua, how did you end up in Equestria in the first place?” She asked with a caring tone.

I looked at him as he was about to speak, but I gently placed a hoof on his shoulder “Um… Joshua, if it’s okay, could I explain to Twilight how you got here?” He gave me a light nod as I smiled warmly and turned to Twilight “Well… um… Twilight, it’s quite a long story.”

She grinned widely “Ooh, I love stories!” She said excitedly as she motioned us to trot over to the center of the library. She levitated pillows over for us to sit on and she beamed at me “Alright, I’m all ears!”

I nodded and started to tell Joshua’s story.

After a few minutes…

Twilight looked at Joshua with her eyes stung with tears “Oh you poor dear, I’m awfully sorry for what happened to your mommy and daddy.” She levitated a tissue over to wipe away her tears “Also, for being separated by your family like this, but I promise we’ll find a way to get you back, okay?” She gave him a reassuring smile.

Joshua nodded and gave her a light smile “Okay Twilight, thank you.” He got up and went over to hug her around her neck and she returned the hug.

“You’re very welcome dear. Now, while I look in my books to search for a spell maybe to get you back to your home and time Joshua, how about you three go visit our friends? I’m sure they would like to see their little nephew and his new friend.” She gave Toby and Joshua a blushing smile.

I nodded “Um… we were just going to do that after we came to see you Twilight.” I let out a small giggle as I stood up from my pillow. I looked down at Toby and over at Joshua “Are you two ready to go see the others?”

“Yes!” They replied in unison. We went over to the door, and before we left we waved at Twilight.

“See you all later.” She waved a wing at us as we exited the library.

I looked at the two boys “Where should we go first?” I asked with a warm smile.

Toby looked up at me with a big smile “I know Momma, how about we go see Auntie Pinkie first? I know she will be happy to meet Joshua.” He let out a giggle as well did Joshua, and then I joined in.

I nodded “That sounds like a good idea honey. How does that sound to you Joshua?” I looked at him curiously.

He nodded “Sounds good to me. It would be interesting to see how the Pinkie Pie acts in this Equestria apart from the Pinkie Pie in my home.” He smiled at me softly and all three of us made our way to the Sugarcube Corner.

As we walked toward the sweet shop I couldn’t help but think to myself. I hope Twilight will be able to figure out a way to get Joshua back to his home. I can just imagine how the Twilight, his Mommy is feeling without him there. I felt very sad when Toby wasn’t with me when he was kidnapped by that big dumb meanie Queen Chrysalis. I sighed softly as we continued on.

*Twilight’s P.O.V.*


“Why Nyx?!” I asked suddenly, “Why can’t I do it?!”

“When a pony teleports an object or another pony to one location, then that pony has to go wherever he or she teleported the object or other pony went to get it back,” Luna explained.

“But Nyx’s magic isn’t strong enough!” I protested, “And who knows what kind of danger Joshua could possibly be in!”

“Twilight,” Celestia interjected, “The charm from when Sombra was still around is still on Joshua’s locket, correct?”

“Y...Yes,” I replied.

“Then wouldn’t it have notified you if Joshua was in danger?” she asked.

She was right.  So far, other than when Joshua got accidentally teleported, my horn hadn’t alerted me of him being in danger.  Wherever Joshua was, he was safe for the moment, as far as I knew.

“But even still Celestia,” I continued, “Nyx’s magic isn’t strong enough.  That spell was completely at random when she sneezed.”

“I know Twilight,” Celestia said, “Which is why you must train Nyx in the art of teleportation if you are going to get Joshua back.  The spell in question takes a full day to recharge for one pony.  If Nyx is going to bring herself back along with Joshua, then she’ll have to stay with him in that dimension for two days.”

“I see,” I said dejectedly, “Thank you for your help Celestia.  Is Spike done here?”

“Yes Twilight.  Spike may return with you to Ponyville.”

“Bye Princess,” Spike said as we walked out.

“Tell Nyx that I wish her good luck,” Celestia called after me.


*Nyx’s P.O.V.*


“Well Nyx, I am happy to say that you have completely recovered from your cold!”

“Thanks Nurse Redheart,” I said.

Now there was some good news.  All that rest and medicine had helped cure my cold.  Now all I had to do was wait for Twilight to come back with information about how to get Joshua back.

“Well, I must be off now,” Redheart said, “I’ll see you later Nyx, Fluttershy.”

“Bye Nurse Redheart,” Fluttershy said, “Thank you for your help.”

After Redheart left, Fluttershy and I had lunch.  While we were cleaning up after finishing, I heard the library door open.

“Fluttershy!  Nyx!  I’m back!”

“Twilight!” I said happily.

I rushed out of the kitchen to see her and Spike walking in.  I ran up to her and nuzzled her under her chin.  She returned it.

“Hello Twilight,” Fluttershy said coming out, “Good news!  Nurse Redheart came by and said Nyx has completely recovered from her cold.”

“That’s good,” Twilight said, “Because now she and I can get to work.”

“Get to work on what Twilight?” I asked.

“Nyx,” she said taking a breath, “Celestia and Luna said that the spell you accidentally used on Joshua has only one solution: you’re going to be the one to bring Joshua back.”

“ME?!” I exclaimed, “Why me?!  My magic had a spur-of-the-moment thing when it fired that spell!”

“I know Nyx,” Twilight said, “But you’re the only one who can go wherever Joshua went to bring him back.  The spell also takes a full day to recharge, so if you’re going to bring yourself and Joshua back, then you’re going to have to stay with Joshua in that dimension for two days before you’re ready to bring the two of you back.”

“But I don’t even know basic teleportation yet!” I said.

“Which is why I’m going to teach you how,” Twilight said determinedly

*Toby’s P.O.V.*


As we walked toward Sugarcube Corner to see Auntie Pinkie, I began wondering what Joshua’s big sister, Nyx, must be like.  He said that she was supposed to be Auntie Luna’s evil self, Nightmare Moon, but he also said that she wasn’t bad like the old Nightmare Moon was.  The more I thought about her, the more I wanted to meet her.

Soon we were in front of Sugarcube Corner.

“Looks like the one from the Equestria I’m from,” Joshua said.

We walked up to the door, opened it up, and saw Mr. and Mrs. Cake behind the counter.  They looked up and saw us after hearing the bell over the door.

“Hello Fluttershy!” Mrs. Cake greeted, “Hello Toby, nice to see you again.”

“Hi Mrs. Cake!” I said waving, “Hi Mr. Cake!”

“Hello there Toby,” Mr. Cake said to me.  He then saw Joshua.  “I see you and Fluttershy made a new friend.”

“Yeah, this is Joshua,” I said introducing him, “Is Auntie Pinkie here?”

“She’s upstairs in her room looking after Pound and Pumpkin,” Mrs. Cake said, “Go on up if you’d like.”

“Thank you Mrs. Cake,” Momma said.  The three of us went upstairs to the door that led to Auntie Pinkie’s room.  We saw her standing outside the door that was a tiny bit open.

“Where’s Pinkie Pie?~” she said in sing-song.  She then pushed the door open, poked her head in, and said, “HERE I AM!”  We heard Pound and Pumpkin giggling from inside.  She then closed the door almost all the way and did the same thing again, making Pound and Pumpkin giggle again.  She then bounced into the room and blew a raspberry at them, making them squeal in laughter.  I found myself laughing too.  Auntie Pinkie must’ve heard me, because she stuck her head out in the doorway and when she saw us, she smiled.

“Hi everyone!” she said.

“Hello Pinkie,” Momma said.

“Hi Auntie Pinkie!” I said running over to hug her.

“Heya Toby!” she said returning the hug, “How’s my cutie-wutie nephew doing today?”

“I’m doing good Auntie Pinkie,” I said, “Momma and I have a new friend for you to meet.”

“Someone new?!” she said excitedly, “YAY!  That means another party to plan!  Where is the new friend?!”

“Right here Pinkie,” Momma said behind us.  We looked over and saw her place a hoof on Joshua’s shoulder, “Pinkie, this is Joshua.  He’s...”

“He’s from a different Equestria where he’s Twilight’s adopted human son and has a big sister that’s a reformed Nightmare Moon filly who sent him here after accidentally hitting him with magic while sneezing?” Auntie Pinkie said quickly in one breath.

“That’s...That’s right,” Joshua said, “How did you know?”

“Just a hunch!” Auntie Pinkie said shrugging the grinning, “Anyway, it’s nice to meet you Joshie!”  She then bounced over and gave Joshua a hug.  Joshua returned it smiling.

“You too, Pinkie,” Joshua said.

“So what are you all doing?” Auntie Pinkie asked.

“Well, um, we’re introducing everypony to Joshua, and after that we’re going to go back over to Twilight and see if she knows of a way to send Joshua back,” Momma explained.

“Cool!” Auntie Pinkie said, “I’m sure they’ll all really like meeting him, just like we did with Toby.  I need to get back to watching Pound and Pumpkin, but I’ll see you all later!”  She then went back into the room where Pound and Pumpkin were waiting.  The three of us left Sugarcube Corner after leaving Auntie Pinkie.

“So, where to next boys?” Momma asked.

“How about Auntie Rarity?” I suggested.

“Okay,” Momma said nodding, “Is that okay with you Joshua?”

“Sure,” he said.  The three of us then started making our way to the Carousel Boutique.


*Twilight’s P.O.V.*


It had been at least an hour since Fluttershy, Toby, and Joshua left the library, and I hadn’t found anything that could possibly send Joshua back to the alternate Equestria he came from.  What really intrigued me was that he had a reformed Nightmare Moon filly as an older sister, and that I was his mother over there.  How they managed to get Nightmare Moon and Luna into two separate beings was beyond me, but I would ask Joshua about it later though.  Just then, I heard the library door open.

“Twilight!  I’m back!”

It was Spike.

“Hey Spike!” I said walking over to hug him, “How did lunch go with Princess Celestia and Princess Luna?”

“It was wonderful!” Spike exclaimed, “They had a nice, ripe fire ruby there for me, and it was delicious!”  Spike then looked at the piles of books behind me.  “What are you doing exactly?  It’s not reshelving day already, is it?”

“No Spike,” I said, “This morning, Fluttershy and Toby came here with another human.  His name is Joshua, and he’s from an alternate Equestria where I’m his adopted mother, and you’re his brother.”

“Wow,” Spike said, “What are you going through those books for though?”

“I’m trying to find a spell that could possibly send him back,” I explained, “But so far I haven’t found anything.”  I then levitated a new book about magic off the shelf and started to read it.  Eventually, I found a section on teleporting magic.  “Ah-ha!  Let’s see what we have."



When an object or another pony is teleported to another location by the pony that cast the spell, then the one who cast it is the only one who can bring back what he or she teleported.



"Oh dear.”

“What is it, Twilight?” Spike asked.

“Well, it seems the only way Joshua is going to get back is if the pony who accidentally sent him manages to come here to get him,” I explained, “And that somepony is his older sister.”

“Wait, what?” Spike said confused, “I don’t recall you adopting a daughter.”

“Well, in the Equestria Joshua came from, I did apparently,” I said, “And he told me that it was a reformed filly Nightmare Moon named Nyx.”

“Reformed?  Like how Discord was reformed?  And how can there be a Nightmare Moon without Luna?  Isn’t that Luna’s dark side?” Spike asked again.

“Well, I’ve been meaning to ask Joshua that Spike, but Fluttershy and Toby will probably bring him back to the library later so he can tell me about it,” I said.

*Fluttershy’s P.O.V*


After we left Sugarcube Corner, we soon arrived at the Carousel Boutique to introduce Joshua to our Rarity. I sure do hope she won’t overreact or freak out about witnessing another human here in Ponyville. I gently shook my head of those negative thoughts. C’mon Fluttershy, you know Rarity will be as accepting and welcoming to Joshua like she was when she first met Toby.

“Momma, is something wrong?” My thoughts were cut off again, this time by the voice of my precious little one.

I looked down at him with a soft, reassuring smile “Oh, of course not sweetie. I was just thinking silly thoughts,” I gave out a light chuckle and rubbed at his head, ruffling his hair a bit. “Now, let’s see if your Auntie Rarity is home first,” I said with a nod as I reached up with a hoof and knocked on the carousel door.

“Coming!” rang out Rarity’s voice as the door opened to reveal my friend. A bright smile crept across her face “Well hello Fluttershy darling and my dear little nephew Toby. How are you two doing on this fine day?” She reached up and stroked at the top of Toby’s head, being the caring aunt she is.

Toby blushed and giggled “We’re doing good Auntie Rarity. Me and Momma have someone for you to meet.” He motioned toward Joshua who stood on my other side “Auntie Rarity, this is Joshua and… well... he isn’t from here, but from another world.” He looked up at Rarity awkwardly.

I gently placed a hoof on his back and rubbed at it soothingly as I looked at Rarity “That is true Rarity, Joshua magically appeared in our yard when we were tending to our animal friends.” I smiled warmly at Joshua who nodded.

She gasped “Oh my.” She placed a hoof on her chest as she was a bit taken aback by this “Well, it’s a great pleasure to meet you Joshua, but I’m terribly sorry for that under the circumstances.” She reached out a hoof toward the boy.

Joshua reached out his hand and very gently shook Rarity’s hoof “It’s nice to meet you too Rarity, and what Toby and Fluttershy told you is all true. I’m not from this Equestria, but from another one,” he said with an awkward smile.

Rarity nodded in understanding “Well, please come in you three and we all shall share some tea,” she spoke warmly and stepped aside for us to enter.

After several minutes…


*Joshua’s P.O.V*


After re-telling my story to Rarity, she pulled me in a warm and comforting hug “Oh you poor, poor darling. You’ve been through so much for a child so young,” she spoke with tears rolling down her cheeks.

I returned the hug around her neck “Thank you Rarity, and I might have been through a lot, with the loss of my parents, but I know they’ll always be with me in my heart,” I said with a warm smile. I pull out my locket and show her “My Mommy on Earth gave this to me, and she told me as long as I have this, they will always be with me.” I felt like I was about to cry, but I prevented myself from doing so.

Rarity gave me a tearful smile “Well, that is very true indeed Joshua. They may be gone physically, but they will always live with you in spirit.” She rubbed at my back. We broke the hug and I turned to see Toby sitting on the steps with his hands in his lap and his head down.

I looked at Fluttershy “Fluttershy, what’s wrong with Toby?” I asked with concern in my voice.

She turned to look at her son with a frown on her face “I don’t know Joshua sweetie.” I can see concern etched on her face as well.

“The poor darling must still be upset about the loss of his mommy too Joshua,” Rarity said softly. She looked over at Toby with a frown of her own and turned to us “Where are you three planning to go next?” she asked quietly.

Fluttershy turned to Rarity “Well… um… maybe we could go visit Applejack.” She gave a soft smile, but turned back to look at Toby, deeply worried.

Rarity nodded in agreement “That sounds like a marvelous idea. Sweetie Belle is over there spending quality time with Applebloom and Scootaloo. They are coming up with another insane idea to get their cutie marks.” She rolled her eyes, and I couldn’t help but giggle a little.


*Fluttershy’s P.O.V*


I trotted over to Toby and I could see he was upset about something. I decided to sit down in front of him and talk to him before we left. I lifted a hoof and gently placed it under his chin to lift his head to look at me “Toby sweetheart, is something the matter? You know you can tell your Momma, don’t you?” I gave him the warmest of smiles.

He looked at me as I could see his eyes glazed with tears “N…no Momma, I-I’m okay,” he spoke, sniffling and reached up to wipe at his eyes. He sniffled again as he looked at me with a soft smile “Where are we going next?” he asked a little weakly.

I reached up and stroked at his head “We’re going to see your Auntie Applejack and big sisters,” I spoke happily to try and cheer him up “How does that sound sweetie?”

He gave me a nod “That sounds like a good idea Momma,” he spoke happily as he got up slowly off the stairs and walked over to Joshua and Rarity.

Oh Toby sweetheart, there is something bothering you, isn’t there? I’ll ask him later. I don’t want to upset him anymore than he is.  I sigh softly as I trot over to the three.

“We are ready Fluttershy darling if you are,” Rarity spoke with a warm smile and I gave her a nod.

All four of us exited the boutique and made our way toward Sweet Apple Acres.

*Nyx’s P.O.V.*


“I think I almost got it perfect, Twilight,” I spoke to Twilight as I was working on improving and strengthening my teleportation spell so I could teleport to where my little brother is.

I’ve been training for the past two days with Mom and I know I’m ready to go get Joshua back. The first day was rough as I was only to teleport from the top floor of the library to the bottom of the steps. The second day I was able to teleport from inside the library to the outside. Now today, I’m able to teleport from the library to other places such as Sugarcube Corner.

“I can see that dear, you are doing wonderful,” Twilight says to me with a proud smile. She trots over to me as rubs at my shoulder with a hoof “I just wish I could go with you Nyx, because there is no telling what dangers lie in this other universe.”  She gave me a look of concern “And there is no telling what danger your little brother could be in.” She sighed heavily.

I nod in agreement “I wish you were coming with me too Twilight, because I’m a bit scared of going to a new world without knowing any pony there.” I frown a bit, but take in a deep breath and stare at her in her eyes. “However Twilight, Princess Celestia said that the pony who causes another to end up in a different universe or place, then that pony has to fix it. So I’m willing to do it, for Joshua,” I said proudly as mom swallowed me up in a bone crushing hug.

“I’m so proud of you dear!” she squeed as she hugged me tight for a while before letting me go and I gasped for air. She let out a nervous giggle “Eh… sorry Nyx.” She cleared her throat “Now when you get to this new place dear and find Joshua, you might have to rest for a couple days to regain your strength. Do you understand?”

I nodded in response “Yes Mom. I promise, I’ll be careful, and I’ll make sure nothing bad happens to Joshua.” I smiled confidently. “Now it’s time for me to go and save my little brother!”

Mom nodded and stepped back “Okay dear. Now just focus as hard as you can,” she spoke to me as I nodded and closed my eyes.

I concentrated on getting my little brother back as Joshua’s face flashed in my mind. I could feel great power resonating from my horn, and with one strong stomp on the floor I felt myself vanish.

I was still searching through my books along with Spike to see how to get Joshua back to his home when I was blinded by a sudden bright flash of light. I blinked my eyes “What in Equestria?!” I exclaimed aloud as I looked to see a strange black dark coated filly. I gasped as I looked at her “Hello, who are you?”

“M-M-Mom?” she asked weakly and suddenly she collapsed.

“Oh gosh Twilight, what happened to her and why did she call you mom?” Spike asked me curiously.

I shook my head and carefully trotted up to her. She was still breathing, but just weak. I look at Spike “Spike, I believe this filly is Nyx, the big sister of our new guest here in Ponyville, Joshua.” I looked her over.

“Well, that is good, isn’t it Twi? I mean the kid will be excited to see his sister again.” He gave me a big smile.

I nodded “Yes he will Spike, but first we must make sure that she is well rested and feeling better when he, Fluttershy, and Toby return.” With that said, I levitated the filly onto my back, trotted upstairs carefully, and placed her in my bed, laying the blankets over her. I leaned my head down to speak into her ear softly “Now you just sleep for a little bit dear, and we’ll see you when you get up.” I turn to Spike “C’mon Spike, let’s go back downstairs until she wakes up.” He nodded in agreement and we both went downstairs.

We went back to the books and there was one thought running through my head I can’t believe that Nightmare Moon is back, but as a filly?! She doesn’t look harmful, but we better all take precautions when she awakens.

Chapter 7 - Reunited

*Nyx’s P.O.V.*


“Joshua?” I called out frantically, “Joshua?!  Where are you?!”

The last thing I remember was getting the teleportation spell to work right, but for some reason, I ended up back in the library.  Now, I’m in some kind of burning wasteland, trying to find Joshua.

“Joshua!  Are you there?!” I called again, “Please answer me!”

“Nyx?  Is that you?”

“Joshua!”

I heard his voice to the left of me.  I turn and see him walking slowly forward.  I begin to rush over to him.  Suddenly, the ground beneath him lights up and begins to crack.  Then...

BOOM!

...

“NOOOOO!!!”

I shoot my eyes open and look around frantically.  No burning wasteland.  It was all just a dream.  I breathe a sigh of relief, but then I notice that I’m inside the library, in my room, or what looks like my room.  I realize that something is missing.

“The bed that Joshua and I share,” I say to myself, “Where is it?”

Just then, I hear the door open.  I look over and see Twilight and Spike standing there.

“Are you alright?” Twilight asked me.

“I think so,” I say.

“Are you sure?” she asked again, “You screamed in your sleep.”

“Just a bad dream,” I reply then adding dejectedly, “I guess all that work was for nothing.”

“What work?” Twilight asked confused.

“Trying to teleport to a different dimension to find my little brother, remember?” I say to her.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t recall,” Twilight said.

So it’s true.  The spell did work.  I’m in a different dimension, but did I end up in the right one though?

“Excuse me,” Twilight said interrupting my thoughts, “but who are you?”

“My name is Nyx, reformed filly reincarnation of Nightmare Moon,” I say, “And no need to tell me who you two are, I know.”

“Looks like you were right, Twilight,” Spike said looking at her, “It is the big sister of the new kid.”

“New kid?” I asked.  Then suddenly, I realized who it could possibly be!  “Wait, Joshua!  Is Joshua here?!”

“Yes, he is but calm down,” Twilight said, “You passed out the minute you arrived here.”

“Well, my Twilight said that spell would take a while to recharge,” I said reflectively.

“If you don’t mind, I have a few questions to ask of you,” Twilight said, “When Joshua came here to visit, he mentioned you, but didn’t give that much detail.”

“Well, okay,” I said.

Road to Sweet Apple Acres...


*Joshua’s P.O.V.*


As we head toward Applejack's farm, I keep looking over at Toby a few times.  Ever since we left the Carousel Boutique, he's been looking down.  I slow down, walk around behind Fluttershy, come up next to him, and put a hand on his shoulder.  He then looked up at me.

"Are you okay, Toby?" I ask him.  He then gave me a small smile.

"I'll be okay," he said, "It's hard to believe how much you and I have in common, you know?"

"Yeah," I say, "But are you sure, you'll be okay?"

Toby stops for a minute, and I stop next to him.  Fluttershy stops a few steps in front of us and looks back at us.

"Yeah, I will," Toby said nodding.  He then put his arms around me.  I haven't hugged another human for a long time.  I smiled at him and hugged him back.  I saw Fluttershy looking at us with a smile.  After we finished the hug, I hear a whooshing sound.  We all look up and see Rainbow Dash flying overhead.

"Auntie Rainbow!!!" Toby calls out waving at her.  Rainbow then looked back, saw us and came flying toward us.  She landed on the ground in front of Fluttershy.

"Hey guys!" she said, "What's going on?"

"Hello, Rainbow," Fluttershy said, "We were our way to visit Applejack and show her our new friend."  She then looked back at us and smiled.  "Rainbow, this is Joshua.  He's from a different Equestria where Twilight adopted him."

"Hi," I said to Rainbow.  Rainbow smiled at me and came up to me and Toby.

"Nice to meet ya," Rainbow said giving me a noogie.  She then turned to Toby.  "How are you doing, awesome nephew?"

"I'm doing okay Auntie Rainbow," Toby said giving Rainbow a hug, "We're going to see Auntie Applejack and my big sisters."

"I was on my way there as well," Rainbow said, "How about I join ya?"

"Okay!" Toby said breaking the hug.

"Hey, how about we fly there?  It'll get us there quicker."

"Can we Momma?" Toby asked Fluttershy.

"I'm okay with it, but are you okay with it, Joshua?" Fluttershy asked me.  I felt a little nervous about that.  The only time I've ridden a flying pony was when Princess Celestia first brought me to Ponyville, and I haven't ridden on a flying one since.  But then again, it did sound fun and it would get us to the farm faster.

"Sure, Fluttershy," I said nodding.  Rainbow and Fluttershy then got down low enough for me and Toby to get on.  Toby got on Fluttershy's back while I got on Rainbow's.  Toby and I wrapped our arms around our rides’ necks, and the two pegasi then stood back up and started flapping their wings.  We then started flying toward Sweet Apple Acres.

*Twilight’s P.O.V.*


“...when she gave out her punishment, I was put to sleep, so I didn’t really feel what was going on.  When I woke up, it was night, and I saw you standing there in front of me, but bigger than me.  I looked down at myself and saw I was a filly again, and my voice had been returned to normal.  Then you told me that Princess Luna took back all her old powers and the memories that were never mine in the first place.  My ‘punishment’ was that I had to live with you.  The next day, we discovered this.”

The small black filly slid the sheets covering her flank to show a dark blue, kite-shaped shield with a royal blue crescent moon on it.

“After asking Princess Celestia about it, we discovered that it meant that my talent is protecting other ponies, no matter who they are.”

“That is a very interesting story, Nyx,” I said to her, “And you say this was shortly after the Crystal Empire came back?”

“That’s right,” she replied, “Now you said Joshua came here to see you?”

“Yes, but he’s with Fluttershy and Toby right now,” I said.

“Toby?” she asked raising an eyebrow, “Who’s Toby?”

“Well, one year ago...”

*Toby’s P.O.V.*


When we got to the entrance of Auntie Applejack’s farm, we saw my big sisters about to go in with Auntie Applejack behind them.  Before she went in, she looked up and saw us coming up.

“Howdy, Fluttershy!  Howdy Rainbow!” she said waving.

“Hey, AJ,” Auntie Rainbow said as the two of them knocked their hooves together.

“Hello Applejack,” Momma said.  Joshua and I then got off of Auntie Rainbow and Momma’s backs.

“Hey there, sugarcube,” Auntie Applejack said as I came up and gave her a hug.

“Hi Auntie Applejack,” I said to her.  She then looked over at Joshua.

“Well, hey there,” she said, “And what’s yer name?”

“My name’s Joshua,” he replied, “It’s nice to meet you.”

“Nice meetin’ ya too, sugarcube,” she said reaching over and noogying Joshua’s head, “What brings y’all here?”

“We were just introducing Joshua to everypony else,” Momma said, “He’s from a different Equestria where Twilight adopted him.”

“And I’m mainly here to pick up Scootaloo,” Auntie Rainbow said.

“Well, we were all just about to have lunch,” Auntie Applejack said, “Why don’t y’all join us?”

“Sounds good to me!” Auntie Rainbow replied.

“I’d love to,” Momma said.

“Me too!” Joshua and I said together.

“Hey sis!  You comin’?” Apple Bloom called from inside.

“Be right there, AB!” Auntie Applejack called back, “We’ve just got some guests here to have lunch with us.”  She then turned back to us.  “C’mon in y’all.”  We followed her inside to the kitchen.  I didn’t see Papa Big Mac or Granny Smith at all though.

“Auntie Applejack, where are Granny Smith and Papa Big Mac?” I asked her.

“They’re visiting relatives in Manehatten for the week,” she replied.

We entered the kitchen, and saw my big sisters all sitting next to each other on one side of the table.

“Hi big sisters!” I said waving to them.  They looked up and smiled at me.

“Toby!” they all said.  They got out of their seats, rushed over to me, and hugged me.  I hugged them back.

“It’s good to see ya, little brother,” Apple Bloom said.  We then pulled away from each other, and then Scootaloo saw Joshua.

“Hey look guys,” she said, “Another human, like Toby.”

“Neato!” Sweetie Belle said.

“Big sisters,” I said to them, “This is Joshua.  He’s from an Equestria different to this one.”

“So y’all know who we are, right?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Yeah,” Joshua said nodding, then pointing and naming each one, “You’re Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, right?”

“Wow,” Scootaloo said, “You’re good.”

"Alright, everyone, y'all can get acquainted with each other while we're eatin'," Auntie Applejack said guiding us to the table.

Minutes later...

After having a yummy lunch with everyone, Momma, Joshua, and I are now heading back to see Auntie Twilight.  Hopefully she found something that can send Joshua back to his Equestria.  I'm going to miss him when he goes, but maybe there's a way I can see him again.  Still, it's nice to have another human as a friend.

We finally made it back to Auntie Twilight's library.  Momma knocked on the door.

"Coming!"

It was Uncle Spike.  He must've been back from his lunch with Auntie Celestia and Auntie Luna.  The door opened up and there was Uncle Spike.

"Oh, hey guys!" he said.

"Hello, Spike," Momma said, "How'd your lunch go?"

"Great!" he said.  He then looked and saw me and Joshua.  "Hey there, Tobes.  Twilight told me about your new friend there."

"Hi, Uncle Spike," I said to him.

"Is Twilight still here?" Momma asked.

"Yeah, she'll be down in a minute.  C'mon in," he said opening the door more for us.  There were a lot of books on the floor.  Auntie Twilight must've looked through them all to find a way for Joshua to get back.

"Twilight!" Uncle Spike called, "Fluttershy and Toby are back!"

"Coming, Spike!" Auntie Twilight called back.  The rest of us sat down on the cushions we were on when we first came here.  Soon, we all saw Auntie Twilight coming down the stairs, with another pony.  She was a filly like my big sisters, colored black, with a horn and wings, which means she's an alicorn.  She also has a purple mane and tail, and her cutie mark is a shield that looks like Uncle Shining's, but with a blue crescent moon instead of a pink star.  And her eyes look a lot like Uncle Spike's, having a lighter green than him.

Joshua looked up and gasped suddenly.

"Nyx?!" he exclaimed.

The black pony looked up and gasped too.

"Joshua?!" she exclaimed.


*Joshua's P.O.V.*


It's Nyx!  She's here!

"Nyx!!!" I exclaim happily, standing up and running over to her.

"Joshua!!!" she said running over to me.  We meet in the middle of the room and hug each other, with Nyx nuzzling her cheek against mine.  "Oh, Joshua!  Thank Celestia you're alright!"  She then pulled away to look at me.  "I'm sorry about hitting you with that spell.  I never meant to do that."

"It's okay, Nyx," I say to her, "I know you didn't mean to.  I forgive you.  Now that you're here, we can go back now, right?"

"Well, there's a small problem with that," Nyx said, "The spell that was used to bring us here takes a full day to recharge.  If I'm going to bring the both of us back, we're going to have to stay here for two days."

"Oh," I said sadly.  I won't be able to see the Twilight I called Mommy for two more days.  "Well, at least you'll be with me during that time, big sister.  I'm so glad you're here."  I then hug her again and she hugged me back.


*Toby's P.O.V.*


The rest of us look on with warm smiles as we see Joshua reunited with his big sister.  I want to go over and introduce myself, but I'm feeling a little nervous.  Joshua and Nyx then break their hug, and Joshua looks back over at me.

"Hey Nyx," he said to his big sister, "I want you to meet someone."  He then walks over to me with Nyx behind him.  Nyx looks at me in surprise, probably because I'm another human.  "Nyx, this is Toby Mason.  Fluttershy's adopted human son in this Equestria.  Toby, this is Nyx, my big sister."

"H-Hi," I say nervously holding a hand out, "It's nice to meet you."

She the smiled at me, put one of her hooves in my hand.  I wrapped my hand warmly around it and we shook.

"It's nice to meet you too, Toby," she said to me.

Chapter 8 - What's Wrong with Toby?



*Toby’s P.O.V.*


After Joshua introduced me to Nyx, I quietly stepped outside the library to be alone for a little bit. I sat down on the stump and laid my head in my lap. Oh mommy, I miss you so much. I know you are with me forever in my heart as long as I hold my locket, but I wish I could hug you one last time. I allowed a couple tears to travel down my cheeks.

With Joshua telling Momma, me, and everyone his story, it made me think of my mommy and daddy. His mommy and daddy loved him with all their hearts, and my mommy loved me, but I never received love from my daddy. Joshua’s daddy sounded great, unlike my daddy who was mean to me. Yet when Joshua said that his home of Earth blew up, it made me wonder if it was the same Earth my daddy lived, and if he blew up with it.

Daddy, I know you did terrible things to me, and also killed mommy, but I’ve always loved you daddy before all that. I just wish I could see you one more time and maybe help you with whatever is wrong with you. Deep down Daddy, I miss you and I still love you. I started to shake some with sobs as I continued to cry.


*Fluttershy’s P.O.V.*


While I was watching the reunion between Joshua and his big sister Nyx, I looked to see that Toby was nowhere to be seen. I started to panic, but I saw that the door was slightly opened, so I decided to trot outside. When I got outside, my heart immediately broke at the sight I saw. I watched my little boy sitting there and I could hear him crying into his arms.

“Toby sweetie, is everything okay?” I asked as gently as I could so not to scare him, but he jumped a little and looked up at me. I saw a few tears running down his face and I immediately trotted next to him, sat down, and laid a wing over his small form. I brought him in close to hug him and nuzzled at the top of his head “Oh Toby, please tell Momma what’s bothering you? You know you can tell me anything and I promise I won’t get mad or anything. I love you Toby, and I don’t like to see you sad.” I rubbed my wing up and down his back soothingly as I could feel him shudder.

He sniffled, rubbed at his eyes with a little arm, and looked up at me. My heart shattered as his little lips started quivering “M-Momma, I miss my mommy so much!” He cried out as he buried his face into the warmth of my chest. I could feel him shudder harder as he turned his head to the side “Please don’t be mad at me Momma, but I also miss my Daddy, because deep down, although he did such terrible things to me and my mommy, I still love him.” He placed a small hand against my chest and looked up at me with a deep frown.

I felt tears of my own threaten to escape, but I refused to cry in front of my son. He needed me at this time, and I am always there to protect him. I wrapped a foreleg around him and hugged him tighter. I kissed the top of his head and started to speak softly “I know you miss your mommy honey, but I also know this. She is watching over you from up above, and she is truly proud of the strong boy that she gave birth to.” He looked up at me and I gave him a reassuring smile and nod.

He sniffled and spoke softly “Thank you Momma. I know Mommy is watching over me, but I just wish I could hug her one last time.” He took in a shuddering breath.

I nodded in understanding “I know sweetheart, I know.” I rubbed along his back with my foreleg “And Toby, don’t you ever think I’ll be mad at you for still loving your daddy, even through all the dreadful things he has done. He is still your daddy, and no matter what he has done, even though he may not have shown it when he was here, he still loves you.” I gave him a reassuring smile.

He looked up at me and sniffled as he wiped away the last remaining tears “Momma, do you think that Daddy blew up with the Earth where Joshua came from?” A look of shock forms on my face at the question.

“Well… um… I really don’t know sweetheart. Remember Toby, Joshua is from a different universe than we are, and so maybe the Earth he came from is different from yours.” I look down at him with a reassuring smile.

He looked up with me a soft smile and nodded “You’re maybe right Momma.” He looked up at me with a pleading look “Momma, when we get Joshua and Nyx back to their Equestria, do you think maybe Auntie Luna and Auntie Celestia could let me see how my daddy is doing back on Earth?”

My heart became torn at the question, because I didn’t want that monster to even be thought of by my son, but also he is Toby’s daddy still and I know Toby still loves him. I closed my eyes softly in deep thought, took in a deep breath, and exhaled deeply. I opened my eyes back up and looked down at him “I’ll tell you what sweetie, after we get Nyx and Joshua back to their home, I’ll talk with your Auntie Twilight about going to meet the princesses. Does that sound like a good idea?” He looked up at me and nodded softly. I give him a kiss on the forehead “Now let’s go inside and see what we can do for Nyx and Joshua.”

I stood up and Toby climbed up on my back as we trotted back into the library.


*Joshua's P.O.V.*


I'm really glad Nyx is finally here.  It is sad that we can't go back to our Equestria for two days, but at least Nyx and I will be together.  There was one problem: Where we're Nyx and going to sleep?  I went up to to Twilight and tapped her foreleg.

"Twilight?" I asked her, "Nyx and I need somewhere to stay while we're going to be in this Equestria."

"Well, I'd be happy to let you both stay here for now," she said, "You can both share the spare bed.  I hope you don't mind it being too big though."

"It's okay, Twilight," Nyx said behind me, "We don't mind."

I then looked back and saw Fluttershy trotting in with Toby on her back.  I felt kind of worried for him.  He seemed to be keeping something to himself.  Maybe it was because he missed his other Mommy, just like I missed mine, and my Daddy.  I walked up to them and looked up at Toby.

"Are you okay, Toby?" I asked.  He looked at me and nodded.

"I'm okay now," he said climbing off Fluttershy's back.  Just then, I heard Spike behind belch a letter.  It must've been from this world's Princess Celestia.  Twilight levitated it over to her and read it.

Dear Twilight Sparkle,
Two days ago, I sensed a peculiar energy surge near Fluttershy's cottage, and a few moments ago, I sensed a similar energy surge near your library.  If you haven't done so already, please investigate it and report your findings to me as soon as possible.

Twilight looked worried when she finished.

"Twilight, what's wrong, if you don't mind me asking?" Fluttershy asked.

"The energy surges she must've detected was when Joshua and Nyx each individually arrived in Equestria," she said, "I can easily explain about Joshua, but Nyx might take a bit more than normal."

Chapter 9 - Sleepover at Twilight’s

*Twilight’s P.O.V.*


Dear Princess Celestia,
I’ve already discovered what these energy surges that you detected were.  They are both surges from a teleportation spell.  The first one from two days ago at Fluttershy’s cottage brought another human child here.  His name is Joshua, and he is from an alternate Equestria, where I’m his adoptive mother.  Fluttershy and Toby found him unconscious while taking care of their animals.
The second one was actually inside my library.  What appeared from it is a tad bit complicated.  From it came a small black alicorn filly named Nyx.  She’s from the same Equestria Joshua came from, and his older sister.  One other thing is that she’s a reformed reincarnation of Nightmare Moon.
Apparently, she’s here to bring Joshua back, because she accidentally sent him here with a sneeze-induced teleportation spell.  From what she explained after she reunited with Joshua, they will have to stay here in this Equestria for two days so she can bring the both of them back to the Equestria they come from.

This is what I know from the situation.

“Okay, Spike,” I said levitating the scroll over to my assistant.  “Send it, please.”

Spike nodded and blew his green flame on the scroll, sending it to Celestia.

“I’m kind of worried about what’ll happen,” Nyx said.

“Why?” Joshua asked.

“Well Joshua, in this Equestria, my story didn’t happen,” she said, “So I’m probably heads are going to be looking my way if ponies see me.”

“I’m sure it won’t be that bad,” Fluttershy said.

Just then, Spike belched and another letter from Celestia appeared.  I caught it in my magic and opened it up to read it.

Dear Twilight,
I thank you for reporting your findings to me so soon.  I would like to meet these two in person in Canterlot tomorrow.  I will send chariots to the library in the morning to pick you all up.

“Okay, now I’m kinda scared,” Nyx said, “The Princess Celestia in mine and Joshua’s Equestria knows me, but the one in this Equestria doesn’t.”

“Don’t worry,” I said to her, “We’ll be right there with you.”

“Momma,” Toby said, “Can we go with them tomorrow?  I want to see Auntie Celestia and Auntie Luna again.”

“Of course we can Toby,” Fluttershy said, “If it’s okay with Twilight that is.”

“Sure,” I said to them, “Why don’t you two stay here for tonight?  That way we’ll all be here tomorrow morning for when the chariots arrive.  Now, let’s have some dinner.”

“Hey, Twilight?” Nyx said, “Can we have celery soup and daffodil sandwiches?  It’s my favorite.”

“I don’t see why not,” I replied, “Spike, can you handle that?”

“You got it, Twi,” Spike said running off toward the kitchen.  After we all had dinner, Spike and I got the main room of the library ready for Fluttershy and Toby to sleep in, by bringing out one of the sleeping bags we had in our storage room.  After Fluttershy and Toby snuggled themselves into their sleeping bag, Joshua, Nyx, Spike, and I went upstairs to my room.

"Good night, Auntie Twilight," Toby called out to me.  I turned my head around to look back at him and smiled.

"Good night, Toby," I said to him.

Everyone else said their good nights to each other, and my group went up the rest of the stairs.  Spike curled himself up in his basket, while Joshua and Nyx helped each other get into the spare bed I had.  After they tucked themselves in, I saw Nyx wrap one of her hooves around Joshua and pull him closer so that his back was pressed against her chest.  I smiled at that cute sight and couldn't help but utter a soft "d'aww."

I tucked myself into my bed and fell asleep.


*Joshua's P.O.V.*


I woke up with a yawn.  It was still the middle of the night, and Nyx, Twilight, and Spike were still asleep.  I needed a drink of water so I got up and went to the bathroom.  When I got there, I saw Toby in there in front of the sink.

"Toby?" I said.  He jumped when he heard my voice and turned to look at me.  I saw he had something held in his hands when he turned around to look at me.

"Joshua," he said, "You startled me."

"Sorry," I apologized, "I just needed to get a drink of water.  What's that?"

Toby looked down at the object in his hands and sighed.  "It's the locket my mommy gave me on my fourth birthday.  Yours looks a lot like it."

I pulled out my locket and looked at it, then to Toby's.

"You're right," I said, "It does."  I opened up mine and showed him the picture.  "This is what my mommy and daddy looked like."  Toby looked into it and smiled.  He then showed me the picture inside his.  I opened my eyes in surprise.  "Is that your mommy?" I asked him.  He nodded his head.  "She's beautiful."

"Thank you," he said closing his locket, "This locket is the only thing I have left to remember her by."  He then sighed.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.  He looked up at me with a sad frown.

"You're the first human friend I've made in a long time," he said, "I'm going to miss you when you go."  I put a hand on his shoulder and looked at him.

"I will too, Toby," I said to him sadly, "But maybe when we see Princess Celestia tomorrow, we can ask her if she can make a way for us to keep talking with each other, even when we're dimensions away from each other, okay?"

Toby smiled at me.  "That sounds like a good idea, Joshua," he said.  He then yawned.  I yawned too.  Yawns really are contagious.  "Let's go back to bed okay?"  I nodded at him.

"Okay," I said.  He then wrapped his arms around me and I did the same.  "Good night, Toby."

"Good night, Joshua," he said to me.  We then let go of each other, and he left the bathroom.  I then got up on the sink and got my drink of water.  After that, I went got back into the bed with Nyx and fell asleep.

I really hoped my idea to keep in touch with Toby would work.

Chapter 10 - The Meeting in Canterlot



*Nyx’s P.O.V*


We were aboard the Friendship Express heading toward Canterlot Castle to visit Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. I was anxious in meeting them from this Equestria, because I was worried about how they would react to me being the filly version of Nightmare Moon. Joshua and I were sitting next to each other while Toby was sitting across from us “Toby, do you think your Aunt Celestia and Aunt Luna will be welcoming toward me?”

He looked over at me with a warm smile “Oh, of course Nyx. Aunt Celestia and Aunt Luna are very nice and I know they will like meeting you and Joshua.” I breathed a sigh of relief after he reassured me.

He is such a sweet little boy, just like Joshua, even after all he has been through. I feel awful for him losing his mommy, but also his father being cruel to him by blaming him for her loss. I could feel tears threaten to escape as I looked over at Toby, but I blinked to prevent them from shedding.

Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked at Joshua “Are you okay Nyx?” He asked me with concern in his voice and a look of worry on his face.

I gave him a nod of reassurance “I’m okay Joshua, don’t worry. I just hope Celestia and Luna can figure out how we can get home.” I gave him a soft smile.

He patted my shoulder “I’m sure they will Nyx. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna always are able to figure out a solution to any problem.” I nodded at him in understanding as I turned to look out the window. We were approaching Canterlot as we passed through the entrance gates.


*Joshua’s P.O.V*


As we arrived at the train station in Canterlot, Fluttershy came up and let Toby climb up onto her back. This earned a light-hearted giggle from Nyx and I, because we could see the love Fluttershy had for her son. I hope we get home soon, because I miss our mommy. I shake my thoughts away as we exited the train.

We made our way through the city until we arrived at the castle where there were two guards standing at the palace doors. They stood at attention when they noticed Twilight “Welcome Princess Twilight Sparkle and friends.” One of the guards spoke “The royal sisters are awaiting your arrival and are in the throne room. You may enter.” They stepped aside and we carefully entered the castle.

While we walked through the castle I couldn’t help but get a little nervous myself in meeting Princess Celestia and Princess Luna of this Equestria.  I trusted Toby though that they would be welcoming toward Nyx and I. I hope they would be accepting of my idea of keeping in touch with Toby when me and Nyx goes back home.


*Twilight’s P.O.V*


Soon we arrived at the throne room where the royal sisters were standing at the throne.  We approached them and bowed our heads. “Hello Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. I’m glad that you both could see us at this time.”

They nodded “Rise my little ponies and guests.” Celestia spoke as we lifted our heads. They slowly descended the stairs “Hello Twilight, Fluttershy, our dear little nephew Toby, and our two new guests.”

“Hello Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.” Nyx and Joshua spoke in unison.

I look up at Celestia and Luna “Princesses, these two are the ones that I spoke of in my letter I wrote you.” I motion for Nyx and Joshua to approach “This is Joshua,” I placed a hoof gently on his shoulder “And this is Nyx.” I placed the other hoof on Nyx’s shoulder gently.

“Well, it is an honor of mine and my sister’s to meet you two,” Luna spoke with a warm smile. She titled her head side to side as I could see her examining Nyx.  A look of curiosity formed on her face “Thou look awfully familiar young filly.” I swallowed nervously as I turned toward Nyx.


*Nyx’s P.O.V*


I swallowed nervously and shook on my legs, but I took in a deep breath and exhaled. I bowed my head to Luna and Celestia “Well Princess Luna, I may look familiar, because in the Equestria I come from, I’m Nightmare Moon, but just a filly and reformed.” I watched as their jaws dropped a little.

“Oh my, that is a shock to hear my little pony.” Princess Celestia spoke softly “If I may ask, could you maybe tell us how you came to be?” I look up curiously at her question, but inside I smile, because I felt that they really wanted to hear my story.

I gave her a nod “Okay Princess Celestia. It’s a bit of a long story, but I would be honored to tell you and Princess Luna.” I took in a deep breath and started to tell my tale.


*Toby’s P.O.V*


After Nyx told her story I couldn’t believe all that she went through to finally be adopted by Auntie Twilight in her Equestria and have a family of her own.  and I couldn’t help but shed some tears as Momma, Auntie Twilight, Auntie Celestia, and Auntie Luna did the same. I wiped away my tears as Joshua went ahead and told his story.

When both Nyx and Joshua were done, I carefully walked up to Auntie Celestia and tapped her on her foreleg “A-Auntie Celestia?” I asked kindly as she looked down at me.

“Yes my dear little nephew, what is it?” She asked softly.

I swallowed a little nervously “C-could I maybe talk with you for a moment?” She gave me a warm smile and nodded.

She turned toward Momma and the others “Please excuse us for a minute my guests.” We carefully walked over to the edge as I looked up at her. She gently stroked at the side of my arm with a hoof “Is something wrong Toby?”

I shook my head as I looked down at the ground “Well no Auntie Celestia, but I was wondering if maybe…” I shake nervously.

“Yes my dear nephew? What is it that you would like to ask? You know you can ask me or your Aunt Luna anything and we’ll do our best to answer.” I felt her rub my shoulder comfortably as I took in a deep breath and looked up at her.

“Well Auntie Celestia, I was wondering if I could maybe see how my daddy is doing back on Earth?” I looked up to see her jaw drop a little. She closed her eyes and turned her back toward me. I shake a bit.  “You aren’t mad at me, are you Auntie Celestia?”

She sighed heavily and turned to look down at me with a soft smile “Of course not my dear, but why would you want to see your dad again, especially after all he has done to you?” I watched as a look of worry came upon her face.

I understood where she was coming from, but I replied “After I listened to Joshua’s story about his mommy and daddy, it made me wonder if my daddy still has a little bit of good in him. I know he done bad things to me, and killed my mommy, but he’s still my daddy and I still love him.” I frowned up at her.

She placed a wing over me and pulled me into a hug. I couldn't help but cry into her chest “Shh… it’s okay dear. I’ll talk with your Aunt Luna and we’ll see how we can get you to see your daddy, okay my little nephew?”

I sniffled and looked up at her with a tearful smile “Thank you Auntie Celestia.” I sighed softly as she hugged me.


*Joshua’s P.O.V*


As me, Nyx, Fluttershy, Twilight, and Luna were talking with each other I glanced over at Toby and Celestia embracing each other warmly. I noticed that Toby appeared to have been crying, but I knew Celestia was calming him down. I looked at Princess Luna “Princess Luna, could I maybe ask a favor of you?”

She gave me nod “Of course Joshua, what is it?” She asked kindly.

I looked around at the others before looking back at Luna “Well, when Nyx and I return home, I was wondering if you and Princess Celestia knew of a way I could keep in touch with Toby? It would be nice to talk to another human in Equestria, although we are from different universes.”

Luna gave me a warm smile “You know what thou young one, that sounds like a good idea. I shall talk with Celestia about that, and I believe we could come up with a way for you two to keep in touch.” I smiled at her warmly.

I nodded “Thank you Princess Luna.” She replied with a nod. I turned to see Celestia returning with Toby.

“Well my little ponies and humans, what do you all say we have something to eat, and then we can figure out how to get you two back home?” We all nodded in agreement.

Toby climbed up on Fluttershy’s back as me and Nyx followed behind Twilight. We all headed toward the palace dining room.

I can’t wait to get back home and see Mommy and all of my aunts again.

*Joshua’s P.O.V.*


After having a delicious dinner with everyone, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna let us stay at the castle that night.  Toby and Fluttershy stayed in one room while Nyx, Twilight, and I stayed in a room next to them.  We had a long day and wanted to get some sleep.  While Nyx and Twilight were getting ready, I walked over to Toby and Fluttershy’s room.  I knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Fluttershy said.  I opened the door and saw Fluttershy and Toby reading a book together on the bed.

“Hey Joshua,” Toby said smiling at me.

“Hey Toby,” I said, “Hey Fluttershy.”

“Hello Joshua,” she said, “Are you feeling alright?”

“Yeah,” I said, “I just wanted to say goodnight to you two.”

“Oh, well, goodnight Joshua,” Fluttershy said.

“Goodnight,” Toby said.

“Goodnight,” I said, “See you tomorrow.”

I walked out of the room and back over to the room I was sharing with Nyx and Twilight.  Tomorrow, Nyx would be able to send us both back to our Equestria, and I would be able to see Mommy again!  I walked into my room and saw Nyx and Twilight already in bed.  I climbed into bed next to Nyx and pulled the covers over me.  I then felt a hoof being placed over me.

“Good night, Joshua,” Nyx whispered to me.

“Good night, Nyx,” I whispered back closing my eyes.

I was then in a very black room.  I was confused.  My dreams didn’t start out like this.

“Joshua?  Can you hear me?”

That sounded like Twilight, but I thought only Princess Luna could enter dreams.  Did she have help from Princess Luna?

I turned around and saw a bright white light shaped like a doorway and Twilight standing in front of me, but there were tears in her eyes.

“Are you okay, Twilight?” I asked.

“I’m just happy you’re okay, sweetie,” she said, “but since when did you call your adoptive mother by her first name?”

“Huh?” I said even more confused.  Then I realized it was the Twilight that adopted me, the one I called Mommy!  How was she doing that?!  How did she get into my dreams?!  “Mommy?” I asked.

“It is sweetie,” she said.  I ran over to her, and we hugged each other.

"How are you here in my dreams?" I asked her.

"I had a little help," she said looking back to the bright doorway.  I looked behind her and saw the Princess Luna from the Equestria I'm from standing there.  She smiled at me as I waved back at her.  "She was able to connect our dreams.  That's how I'm here with you in your dreams.  Are you alright, sweetie?  Did Nyx make it to you?"

"Yeah, she did," I said.

"How are you two doing?  What's the dimension you're in like?" she asked.

"It's a different Equestria," I said, "You're there as well as your friends, my friends, everypony.  But there's no Nyx in this Equestria though.  But, there is another human here.  His name is Toby Mason, and the Fluttershy in this Equestria adopted him."

"Wow," Mommy said, "That's so fascinating!  Who knew there were alternate Equestrias out there?"

"Mommy?" I said, "Nyx said the spell used to bring us to this Equestria needs two days to recharge, right?"

"Mmhmm," she said nodding, "48 hours.  Nyx did the spell to send herself to you at 3:00 PM in the afternoon, so that's around the time she'll need to do it to bring the two of you back.  Make sure to tell her that, okay?"

"Okay," I said, "I'll see you tomorrow, Mommy.  I love you."

"I love you too, sweetie," she said kissing my forehead, "Pleasant dreams."

We gave each other one more hug and then she trotted back through the bright doorway to Princess Luna.  The doorway closed and I was alone in my dreams again.

Wait a minute.  Could Toby and I continue talking to each other through our dreams?  That might work.  I hope Princess Luna will think it's a good idea, this Equestria's Princess Luna I mean.


*Nyx's P.O.V.*


THUMP

I heard a thump in the middle of the night.  It's not Twilight or Joshua because they're both still next to me.  It's somepony else.  An intruder!  I stay quiet as I spot a shadow sneaking against the walls in the room.  I gently shake Joshua awake.  He looked at me and opened his mouth about to say something, but I gently put a hoof on his mouth to keep him from talking.

"Shhh," I whispered hushedly into his ear, "There's somepony in the room.  Keep quiet."

I felt Joshua nod his head while my hoof was still on it.  I took my hoof off his mouth and we looked at the dark shadow sneaking through the room.  I felt Joshua turn around and wrap his arms around me.  I brought my hooves around him in return and held him close to me.  I felt Joshua clench his fist lightly behind my back and felt his hand grow warmer.  He must've been preparing his magic.  During our training sessions, his magic has been getting stronger, but this dark figure looked like a full grown stallion.  I wasn't sure if he could stop him.

"You should've never come here, Nightmare Moon," a stallion voice spoke.

I knew that voice, but Joshua didn't.  I felt Joshua tighten his fist and the stallion was caught in his white glow.  He yelped in surprise as he floated in front of us.  Suddenly, Twilight woke up hearing the yelp.  She turned and saw the stallion caught in Joshua's magic.

"WHO ARE YOU?!" she exclaimed jumping at the stallion.  Joshua's glow disappeared when Twilight tackled the stallion.  She held him down on the ground.  The door suddenly opened up, and Fluttershy and Toby were standing in the doorway after the light was turned on.  I was right about who the voice belonged to.

"Blueblood?!"
