It was a dark night in Ponyville, and Twilight Sparkle was now tucking Spike into his bed. She pulled the covers up to Spike's bed and gave Spike a kiss on the forehead. "Goodnight, Spike." said Twilight to her sleeping dragon. She then went downstairs to continue with her studies. A crack of thunder startled Twilight. She went to the window and saw about to close it until she saw somepony who was very small heading into the forest. Twilight looked confused by this. She used her magic to levitate an umbrella over her as she walked outside in the rainy weather. She saw the small pony run through the forest. She instantly ran in the forest, looking around for the pony.

Twilight was looking around for the small pony for a long time. She was tired of getting wet, so she decided to turn back and go home. But another crack of thunder startled her. But then she heard some small whimpering. She heard it come from a nearby bush. She peeked through the bush and gasped. It was a small unicorn colt. It had a blue coat and spiky white-blue hair. He looked cold and terrified as he looked with Twilight with his big purple eyes.

"Hey, there." said Twilight, reaching her hoof out. "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." The colt backed away at first. But then another crack of thunder was heard, frightening the colt. He then hid under Twilight in fear as he cried quietly. "Shhh," said Twilight, comforting him. "It's okay, it's okay. You're in good hooves now. Do you have a home to go to?"

The colt looked up, but then shook his head. Twilight's eyes widened. She didn't know how to respond, for this colt didn't have a home. "Well, you can come home with me right now." said Twilight. The colt showed a small smile to Twilight. Twilight then levitated the colt on her back as they left to go to Twilight's house.

As they walked inside, Twilight gave the colt a blanket to warm himself up. "Are you hungry?" She asked. The colt looked down, but then shook his head. "Well," said Twilight. "Just in case, here's an apple."

Twilight gave the colt an apple. The colt then started to eat the apple. "I'll run you a nice bath." said Twilight. Twilight then began to walk upstairs, but then stopped when she heard a voice.

"Thank you." said the colt.

Twilight turned and smiled at the colt. "You're welcome." She said. Twilight walked upstairs as the colt followed her. Twilight then started the bath, making sure the water was warm as she then helped the colt get in. She stood by the colt the whole time he was in the water, helping him get soaped up as well as drying him up afterwards. Spike walked in the bathroom, rubbing his eyes.

"What's going on?" said Spike, yawning.

"I'll explain in the morning." said Twilight. "Just go back to sleep right now."

Spike shrugged and headed back to sleep. "Hmph," He said. "I can stay up if I can."

"Hoo?" said Owlowicious, sitting on his perch.

Spike raised an eyebrow at Owlowicious and then mumbled to himself. "Show-off."

After the bath, Twilight got in her bed as she allowed the colt to sleep with her. "Goodnight little guy," said Twilight.

"Star Gazer," said the colt.

"Huh?" said Twilight.

"My name is Star Gazer." said the colt.

"Well, goodnight Star Gazer." said Twilight as she ruffled Star Gazer's mane. Star Gazer then started to fall asleep, as Twilight put an arm around him as she then fell asleep too.

Twilight awoke the next morning to the sun shining. She yawned a little, and then noticed little Star Gazer still under her arm, and he was snuggled into her fur. She smiled at him like how a mother would to her son, as she gave him a little kiss on the forehead. Star Gazer then started to wake up. "Good morning, Star Gazer." said Twilight, sweetly to him.

Star Gazer smiled at Twilight. "Good morning," said Star Gazer, getting up.

Twilight then put her hoof on Star Gazer's shoulder. "So, how come you don't have a home?" asked Twilight.

"I-I'm an orphan." said Star Gazer, looking down. "My mom died when I was a foal."

"And...your father?" said Twilight, nervously.

"My dad blamed me for Mom's death, and he didn't want anything to do with me. And one day...he...he left me." said Star Gazer, trying not to get choked up.

"And how did you end up here?" said Twilight.

"I was trying to get away from...my aunt Trixie." Star Gazer grumbled.

Twilight's eyes widened. "Your aunt who?" She asked.

"My aunt Trixie." said Star Gazer. "Or as she prefers 'The Great and Powerful Trixie'."

Twilight couldn't believe what she was hearing. The nephew of the Great and Powerful Trixie was now with Twilight's care.

"Aunt Trixie is bringing back her traveling magic show that was previously busted by another unicorn named Twilight Sparkle."

"Star Gazer," said Twilight.

"Yeah?" said Star Gazer.

"I'm Twilight Sparkle." said Twilight.

Star Gazer's eyes widened. "You're Twilight Sparkle?" He said. "I also heard that you defeated Aunt Trixie even when she wore that magic amulet, how did you get her out of town that time?"

Twilight, looked worried. "I, I forgave her." said Twilight.

"How could you forgive her?" said Star Gazer. "Why would she do something like this to you? It's not your fault she's a big fake."

"Well," said Twilight. "How did you get away from her?"

"It started when she did a show in Mane-hatten." said Star Gazer.

Trixie was now impressing the residents of Mane-hattan with her new magic tricks. And little Star Gazer was backstage, he was watching what his aunt was doing but then accidentall fell out from back stage and crashed into two other colts.

"Oh, sorry." said Star Gazer, getting up. The two colts got up, but they weren't looking happy. Star Gazer started to back away, frightened.

"Watch where you're going, you idiot!" said the first colt. "And what's that mark you got on your flank?" They looked and saw Star Gazer didn't have a cutie mark. "So, you don't have a cutie mark yet, huh?" said the other colt.

"Well, let's make sure he never gets one!" Said the first colt.

Star Gazer tried to run away but the colts tackled him and started beating him up. They then finished beating him up and threw him in a puddle of mud. Star Gazer then got up as the colts walked away, laughing.

Star Gazer then walked into the wagon where he saw Trixie looking for him. "Hi, Aunt Trixie." said Star Gazer, weakly.

Trixie looked at Star Gazer and gasped. "Star Gazer!" She exclaimed.

"Well, I was-" said Star Gazer.

"You know you're too young to play in the mud!" said Trixie. "Now, go clean yourself up! We need to get going to the next place soon!"

Star Gazer looked down sadly but then looked up angrily. "Do you even want to know what actually happened?!" said Star Gazer, angrily.

Trixie looked over at her nephew. "Star Gazer, your Auntie Trixie doesn't-" said Trixie.

"Your fame is all you care about!" said Star Gazer. "You're never there for me!"

"Star Gazer, I-" Trixie started to say.

"Just leave me alone!" said Star Gazer as he angrily went into their bathroom and slammed the door. Trixie looked concerned for her nephew, but then shrugged it off, assuming that he'll grow out of it.

"I then ran away when Aunt Trixie when she wasn't looking," said Star Gazer. "And I'm never going back to her."

Twilight was very worried, now.

"Well, don't you think Aunt Trixie might be worried about you?" said Twilight.

"I don't see why she would." said Star Gazer. "She never thinks of me."

"But I'm pretty sure-" Twilight started to say.

"You can't send me back to her!" said Star Gazer. "You're the only pony in my life who has ever shown any concern and love for me! If I go back to Aunt Trixie, she's never going to listen me like she always does!"

"Well, you're going to stay with me, at least until I know what do." said Twilight.

"Oh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" said Star Gazer, hugging her.

"Now, I'll start breakfast in a little, you can go downstairs a while." said Twilight.

"Okay." said Star Gazer, as he went downstairs.

As Star Gazer went downstairs, Twilight looked down. She had no idea what she was going to do. She was thinking Trixie was probably crying her eyes out for Star Gazer right this minute.

Trixie was concerned right now as she was leaving Mane-hattan. Star Gazer didn't come out of his room since he finished cleaning up. Trixie decided to go check on him.

"Star Gazer," said Trixie, going to Star Gazer's door. "Are you feeling okay?" said Trixie. She tapped on the door and noticed it was unlocked. She opened the door and saw a bundle under the blanket of Star Gazer's bed.

"Star Gazer, you can't stay under there forever." Trixie said as she pulled the blanket off and noticed Star Gazer wasn't there, but a bunch of pillows were there instead and she saw a note. She picked up and read it.

"Dear Aunt Trixie, by the time you read this, I will be gone and far away. Seeing how you're never there for me and focus more on your magic tricks then me, instead of being concerned when I was bullied and thrown in a mud puddle, I decided to leave you to your business. From, Star Gazer."

Tears were welling up in Trixie's eyes as she finished reading. "Oh, Star Gazer!" She cried, dramatically. "My darling nephew! What have I done?!" She then got up. "No! I must find my nephew! Don't worry, my little Star Gazer! You're Auntie Trixie is coming!"

Later that day, Twilight was watching Star Gazer play outside. She smiled at this, but then she started to think. "Twi?" Spike asked. "You okay?"

"Yeah," said Twilight. "I'm alright. I just don't know what to do about Star Gazer."

"Well, you're not alone, Twilight." said Spike. "I don't know if we should keep Star Gazer, or if we should give him back to Trixie who first treated him badly. I'm mostly worried about what's going to happen to you. I almost lost you the last time she came to Ponyville."

Twilight then smiled at Spike. "You don't have to worry, Spike." said Twilight, putting her hoof on Spike's shoulder. "No matter what's going to happen, we're always gonna be together. Besides, last time Trixie was here, I forgave her, and she left with a happy look on her face."

"I know," said Spike. "But if you're still worried, you should talk to one of our friends about it."

"Maybe you're right," said Twilight. "I just need to get some fresh air right now." Twilight went to open the door as Pinkie Pie then poked her head through.

"HIYA!" said Pinkie Pie, happily. Twilight fell to the ground and saw that Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were at the door.

"Hello, Pinkie." said Twilight. "You startled me as usual."

"Yep!" said Pinkie Pie. "Fun, ain't it?"

"We were just walking along when we noticed a colt playing outside your house." said Rainbow Dash. "Who is he?"

Twilight's eyes widened. She then looked down. "Do you girls promise not to tell?"

"Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!" said Pinkie Pie as Rainbow Dash nodded.

"Okay, girls." said Twilight. "The foal's name is Star Gazer...and he's..." She mumbled the last part.

"Huh?" said Rainbow Dash.

Twilight mumbled the last part again.

"Ex-squeeze me?" said Pinkie Pie.

"He's Trixie's nephew!" said Twilight.

Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash just stood there, speechless. They then burst out laughing.

"For a second," said Rainbow Dash. "I thought you said you had Trixie's nephew!"

"What a crack up!" said Pinkie Pie.

As the ponies laughed, they noticed Twilight looking at them seriously. They both realized Twilight was telling the truth. And Rainbow Dash flew in Twilight's face.

"What are you doing with 'The Great and Powerful' Trixie's nephew?!" said Rainbow Dash. "Do you remember what she did the last time she was here?!"

"I know this is a big of a shock," said Twilight. "But Star Gazer is not all that bad."

"Not all bad?" said Rainbow Dash. "Only the nephew of one of Ponyville's greatest threats, that's all! What if he's just as bad as Trixie?"

"He told me he ran away from her!" said Twilight, starting to get annoyed. She then calmed down. "What I mean to say is that Trixie didn't treat him as well, and I'm taking him in right now."

"Well, you better think of what you're going to do." said Rainbow Dash. "This is something to really think about."

As Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie left, Twilight peeked through the window and saw Star Gazer still playing outside.

Twilight smiled at this, but then sighed. She then turned to Spike. "Spike, write a letter for Trixie."

Spike picked up a quill but then looked at Twilight. "Are you sure about this?" He asked nervously. Twilight put her hoof on Spike and gave him a reassuring look. "Don't worry, Spike." said Twilight. "Everything's going to be fine."

Spike nodded to Twilight as he then got ready to write the letter. As Spike finished the letter, he used his fire-breath to send it to Trixie.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Equestria, Trixie was in her wagon still looking for Star Gazer. Trixie was looking miserable. She felt awful for treating her nephew so horribly. But then, a letter poofed in front of her. Trixie looked startled at first, but then she looked at the letter.

Dear Trixie, you're probably worried about your nephew, Star Gazer right now. But don't worry. He's in good hooves with me and Spike in Ponyville. If you want to see how he's doing, you know where to go. Love, Twilight Sparkle

Trixie's eyes widened as she smiled big. "My nephew is safe!" She said. Trixie then used her wagon to head in the direction in Ponyville.

The next afternoon, Spike was looking out the window. "Are you sure Trixie's going to be coming?" said Spike.

"Oh, I'm sure she'll be coming right about..." Twilight then saw Trixie's wagon. "Now." She said, smiling.

She then noticed Trixie running to her door. Twilight opened the door before Trixie could knock. "Oh, thank goodness." said Trixie. "Where's Star Gazer? Is he okay?"

"Star Gazer's fine." said Twilight, giggling. "He's outsi-" Before Twilight could continue, Trixie saw Star Gazer walking inside from the back door.

"Star Gazer!" said Trixie, happily as she ran towards her nephew. "I'm so relieved that you're-" She stopped when Star Gazer turned away from her.

"What are you doing here?" said Star Gazer, stubbornly.

"Oh, my dear nephew." said Trixie. "Your Auntie Trixie wants to apologize, I had no idea what you've been through. But I can change all this." Trixie held her hoof out. "Please, trust me."

Star Gazer looked at his aunt, but then sighed. "I just can't. I'm sorry." said Star Gazer, sadly. He then walked upstairs to Twilight's room. Twilight watched what was going on.

"Don't worry, Trixie." said Twilight. "I'm sure he'll realize tha-" Twilight saw Trixie sadly walking from the library.

"Trixie, where are you going?" said Twilight.

"I'm leaving, Twilight Sparkle." said Trixie.

"But what about your nephew?" said Twilight.

"I don't need to worry about that anymore." said Trixie, sadly. "Star Gazer's with you. I had my chance to be there for him, and I failed. So, goodbye."

Trixie then sadly walked away as Twilight watched. She then walked into the library to talk with Star Gazer.

Twilight noticed Star Gazer sitting on Twilight's bed, sadly.

"Star Gazer?" said Twilight walking towards him.

"Aunt Trixie keeps saying she can change," said Star Gazer. "But she never does."

"Star Gazer, you need to listen." Twilight said to him. "I told Trixie where you were."

"How could you do this to me?" said Star Gazer. "Aunt Trixie's always doing stuff, she barely has time for me!"

"It's because she's trying." said Twilight. Star Gazer stopped talking and looked at Twilight.

"This kind of thing is new for you and Trixie both," said Twilight. "She took you in when you were all alone in the world, and she truly loves you very much. But it takes time for everypony like this. You need to give your aunt a chance."

Star Gazer got off the bed and looked out the window and saw Trixie heading for the wagon. "I need to stop her!" said Star Gazer. He was about to go downstairs, but hugged Twilight first. "Thanks, Twilight." said Star Gazer.

"You're welcome." said Twilight, smiling.

Star Gazer ran out of the library and ran over to Trixie's wagon where Trixie was getting ready to leave.

"Aunt Trixie!" called Star Gazer. "Wait!"

Trixie noticed Star Gazer and got out of the wagon.

"Aunt Trixie!" said Star Gazer. "I-"

"Let me speak first," said Trixie. "I am truly, sincerely sorry for how I treated you. I was given a chance to look after you, and I failed. You are now in good hooves with Twilight Sparkle. And right now, I wouldn't blame you if you never wanted to speak to me agai-"

Before Trixie could finish, Star Gazer ran over to Trixie and hugged her tightly, burying his face in her chest. Star Gazer began to sob as he said. "I love you, Aunt Trixie! I'm so sorry I left you!"

When Trixie heard that, tears welled in her eyes as she smiled. She wrapped her hooves around Star Gazer, comforting him. "Shhh," said Trixie. "It's okay...I'm here...my darling nephew." As Trixie and Star Gazer were sharing their embrace, Twilight and Spike watched what was going on, smiling.

Later that night, Trixie just finished brushing her hair before going to bed. She then noticed Star Gazer standing outside the bathroom door. "Aunt Trixie," said Star Gazer. "Is it alright, if I sleep with you tonight?"

Trixie smiled at Star Gazer. "Of course you can." She said.

Trixie went to her bed and Star Gazer jumped in her bed. Trixie got in bed with him as Star Gazer snuggled into Trixie's fur. Trixie smiled warmly at Star Gazer, and held him close as he was asleep. "Sweet dreams, dear nephew." Trixie whispered as she then kissed him on the forehead and fell asleep with him.
