> My Little Player 2: Mushrooms are Magic, too! > by Ponykiin > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > World 0: The game begins! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most of us know the story of Mario, The man of wonder who saved the princess countless times, over and over, as we barely notice his little brother. Most of us just refer to him as 'The man in green', because most of us just forget his name. However, this will be his chance to finally shine. Don't know what I mean? Then perhaps I'll take you on a small trip of how he will finally become the star of the show... v~~~~~~~v It all started on a normal summer afternoon. Mario had gone to save the princess, and all that was left to do for Luigi was tend to the chores. As a matter of fact, all he had to do was go out and grab the mail! It had come a few hours early, but that just meant that Luigi could have more free time to himself. After he had made himself a delicious mushroom sandwich, he went outside to check on the mail. Jumping down the steps, he semi-rushed to get to there. It was a bit chilly out, and Luigi wanted to get back inside, just in case it got colder. He was about to open the mailbox when he had seen a strange light emanating from the deepest reaches of the forest that surrounded the Mario household. Out of pure curiosity of what was held in the deepest reaches of the forest, he began walking towards the light, wherever it may have been coming from. One place would be lighter than another place, and Luigi would follow the brightest path until he found the source of it. And he did find the source of it. In the middle of an opening, surrounded by broken branches and upturned earth, was a swirling mass of a dark blue color. Luigi, inspecting the strange phenomenon from behind a tree, curiously walked over, and put his hand up to what can only be assumed to be a portal. The strangest thing about the portal was that it felt like water, which couldn't possibly float like that in any kind of situation! Portal or not, that's not normal. Luigi tipped his hat, and gulped, as he slowly placed his face through it, making the biggest mistake he could have ever made. He was suddenly grabbed by some unknown force, that then dragged Luigi into the portal. He screamed and kicked, only to feel nothing but the liquid of the interior of the portal. The longer Luigi stayed in the portal, the more he felt as if he was drowning. He quickly looked around for an escape. There had to be something somewhere. A rip in the fabric of this portal, or perhaps even a door would work at this moment! He found a very similar looking portal, which was a pitch black compared to the dark blue of the portal itself. He didn't have time for questions though, as he lunged himself in the direction of the portal, hoping for the best, as the supposed exit grabbed Luigi, and pulled him out into a night sky, where he could see nothing but one singular star, which then turned into many other stars, and quickly into millions. Luigi had almost forgotten the fact that he was now falling. He quickly looked down, and screamed for help, holding onto his hat as he kept falling, and falling, and falling. He blacked out before hitting the ground, due to a panic attack. There, he slept, feeling an ominous presence looming over him. This feeling had soon left Luigi, as his mind began to wander into a strange world. A dreamy world, that can only be described as blank. It was nothing at the moment, nothing but a blank canvas full of nothing. There was so much nothing that nothing could make something out of this nothing, but that's beside the point. In the middle of this world, stood Luigi, tired and weak. He looked around, confused of where he was. Clueless as to what had happened, and what was happening. Shortly after questioning if he was alive or dead, a voice spoke to him softly. "Greetings, thing in green..." It said. This startled Luigi, causing him to fall back on his behind, and scoot backwards, hopefully away from the voice. He quickly bumped into something soon after, and jumped up to face his possible foe. He looked up the large pony that loomed over him. "Now now..." It said, its voice calm and firm. "No need to be afraid..." Luigi gulped, as he slowly backed up to get a full picture of the pony. It was a crossbreed between a Unicorn and a Pegasus, that had a dark blue coat, with a blue mane that almost perfectly mimicked the night sky. Its mane had been blowing in some kind of invisible wind, either that or Luigi couldn't feel the current at all. It was just a magical sight that would bring a tear to someones eye. Luigi shook his head, as he made sure he wasn't just seeing things. The pony smiled a kind smile, as it spoke again. "I know you are confused, little one, but there is no reason for such fear." It said, as it lowered its head down to Luigis. "Now, I have something that I must request of you..." Luigi blinked. "W-wha?" He said, scratching his head in confusion. "Ah! So you do speak!" The pony said, rearing its head up with a face of joy. "But that is irrelevant to the case at hand..." It continued on, with a sullen look. "You see, I need your help. My sister has refused the use of dimension jumping, but I have no choice. You're our only hope..." The pony took a deep breath, and continued on. "There is a great many threats coming to Equestria, my world, for the next ninety moons. These threats will grow stronger and stronger, and without any help, we will be crushed under our enemies. For this reason alone, I must ask you to please help us...". The pony looked at Luigi with a look of hope. Luigi needed to think this through... He had been forcefully ripped from his own dimension to become a hero of a new dimension. What would his brother say in a situation like this? He would probably say no. He already had too much on his plate in his own dimension. How would he survive saving two? But...Luigi didn't have anything to do in that world. He was a nobody. Just a guy that stood around Mario for the majority of his free time. Probably a big fan that liked the color green a lot. Luigi looked up to the pony. "I'm sorry to interrupt any thought you may be having, but I don't have a lot of time left. Should we stay here any longer, and my sister would be sure to find out..." She said, worriedly. Luigi put a thoughtful hand to his chin. This was his chance to finally become a hero! A tale that no other would be able to tell at home! He will finally be just as good as his brother Mario! He looked up at the pony with determination, and nodded in agreement, making a promise that this world will not be harmed on Luigi's watch! The pony smiled a great smile at this. "Excellent! I hope this is no inconvenience to you..." She said, as her horn began to glow a purplish aura. Soon, Luigi's vision began to fade, and he heard these final words, before he woke up. "Our world, is in your hooves now..." > World 1: First five minutes on the job! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a little moment of what Luigi thought was waking up, he saw nothing but darkness. He yawned, as he felt around to see if he truly was awake. After a moment, Luigi came to the conclusion that his face was covered. He quickly kicked off the blanked and jumped out of the bed he was resting in. Strange, he could have sworn he was supposed to be shoulder deep in a crater he made in the ground. Maybe THAT was a dream, too... He looked around the small area. There happened to be multiple things in the house he was staying at, which ranged from normal furniture to lots and lots of animal care items, which ranged from food to beds. Luigi just so happened to be sleeping in a...somewhat human bed. Or perhaps it was a bed for some kind of bear? Luigi shook his head. It was best not to think too much about it. He quickly grabbed his cap from the ground and placed it on his head, before heading out. He opened the door and left the small cottage he had been placed him. Someone must have been real nice to take care of a stranger like that! Luigi tipped his hat in the direction of a small village, and made his destination just as so, as he began waking down the path that hugged the edge of a very dark forest that loomed over Luigi with a certain...eeriness. Good thing Luigi wasn't going in there anytime soon! He looked around, a small smile on his face, as he observed the wildlife that roamed the area. It was a very calm sight, and it sent joy through Luigi to know that Mario will always keep it this wa-... Wait a second.... Luigi stopped in his tracks, and looked around, his hand on his chin in thought. He can still remember that dream so clearly, that pony, those final words that were uttered upon him. Is Mario even here? Is this the mushroom kingdom, or 'Equestria'? Luigi looked to the town he was walking to. No mushroom house in sight...Perhaps that dream really was the real deal... But if that's so then...where are all the ponies? The only life that Luigi could see was only the wildlife that pranced around him. He had to get to town and see what was going on, and he probably had to get there fast! Luigi quickly dashed down the dirt road, determined to keep this world safe...Implying he is in another world... It didn't take too long for Luigi to run into town. He slowed down to a walk, and looked around the almost barren town. Ever house look completely empty of any toad or pony. What happened here? He looked across the road, and squinted into the distance of the town, barely seeing a thing.... Until he found something move in the corner of his eye. There, he could have sworn he had seen something fluffy and pink move behind a building. Luigi quickly went to investigate, but found nothing. He couldn't give up though. This may mean that there just might be someone, or something, hiding around! Luigi took it upon himself to investigate the insides of the houses for any sign of life! He decided he would start with that bakery on the corner of the street, which looked like the most suitable place to hide in. It had food, and that meant that if someone had to hide for an extended period of time, they could! He readied himself, as he went over to the door, and opened it, taking a walk inside. The inside was very lively, and had the smell of burnt cake batter coming from the back. "Hello?" Luigi called out, as he continued to look around. That's when he heard it. Coming from upstairs was a bunch of rattling, and then a crash, followed by screaming! Luigi jumped, and quickly made a dash up the stairs, hoping to find the source of the screaming. After hearing one plea for help coming from behind a door, he quickly smashed it down, hammer ready, and he saw three ponies, cornered by one large....thing! Luigi couldn't tell WHAT that was! It seemed to be a large mix between multiple things, including a dragon, a lion, and peach knows what else! It reared its face to Luigi, with a smile, which turned into mad cackling, as Luigi was punched into a nearby wall. Dazed and confused, Luigi stumbled around, before regaining his bearings.... And then he got smacked through the wall. He was followed out by the strange creature, which chuckled. "If Celestia thinks some kind of hairless monkey in green and defeat me, she has a whole 'nother thing coming!" It said, as it cackled in laughter. Luigi jumped up, and cussed him out in protest! Green is an excellent color! This only made the strange creature laugh even more. This pushed Luigi over the edge, as he jumped high into the sky. Hammer ready, he fell, executing a perfect plunging attack on the beasts head, dazing it. Luigi wouldn't show it any mercy after it made fun of him, and he stomped on the beasts head, which them trampolined him into the sky. He did a neat little trick in the air, and whipped out his hammer again, attacking the beast with yet another head shot for maximum damage! The monster waddled back, hands over his head in pain. He was hearing all sorts of ringing, bells, whistles and all! "Argh! Why you little..." It grunted in anger, as it snapped its fingers, a magic cannon popping up in front of it. The beast lit the fuse, and before long, a three cannon balls erupted from the end, all headed towards Luigi! Luigi was clever though, and with his hammer in hand, he hit those cannon balls back at the beast, all of them hitting it dead on! "Whoo! Get 'em!" Said a voice behind Luigi. He quickly looked back, and saw a small orange pegasus, cheering him on with a little green flag. Luigi tipped off his cap in its direction, and then returned to the battle at hand. The beast had smoke coming out of its ears, and it charged forward, its hands clenched into fists. Just before it could hit Luigi, it was sent flying into the sky with an uppercut delivered by Luigi's hammer! This was Luigi's chance to finish him. The beast had begun falling down, and Luigi sent it flying up higher, before dropping his hammer to ready a fireball in his hands. He mustered up all the power he could, turning it into a large green flame in his hands. He looked up at the beast, which was still in an upwards motion, and he blasted it even further into the sky, sending it spiraling into the horizon with a magnificent dark green smoke trail following behind it. "Bye bye!" Luigi said, waving the beast goodbye, as he smiled at his victory. "It actually did it..." A voice said. Luigi turned, and saw a very small group of ponies. There was a maximum of fourteen ponies there, and about four of them looked like fillies. This must have been quite a small town. A Pegasus stepped out from the crowd, a Blue one, with a rainbow mane, and its wings were bandaged to its body. "Who do you think you are taking my glory like that?! Do you even know who I am?! Basically, kind of a big deal!" It protested. Luigi scratched the back of his head in confusion, his eyes nervously darting to the left. "Sorry..." He said sheepishly, with a comical shrug. "You better be! I have half a mind to-" "Rainbow, will ya stop pesterin' the thing? It helped us and we should be grateful!" An orange pony said as it swayed its yellow, and ironic ponytail mane, as it made its way out from the crowd. "I agree! You should be friendly to the thing! It singlehoofedly took out Discord!" A white pony said from the back of the group, as it adjusted its curly purple mane. "Or...is it 'handedly'?" Luigi looked at all the ponies, scratching his head in awkwardness. Mama Mia, noone said these ponies would be so...fascinatingly oblivious. Do they even notice how different Luigi is to them? Or is this something they all see on a daily basis? Luigi stood there, fiddling with his thumbs, and barely noticed that it was very quiet, and all the ponies were looking at him in an odd way. "Huh?" He questioned, looking back at the group. "Wow! Thats super duper amazing!" A pink pony said, jumping out from behind Luigi. "So he's like, Super L guy or something! Wow! He must be out of a comic book! I've never seen a super hero! I've only seen one super hero and that's you! Hey, can I have your autograph? Oh, wait right there! I'll get my notebook! Oh, and I'll get a party planned just for you! It's gonna be the 'Super hero super party'! And, hey, what's your name anyway? I bet it's something super cool! Like Lombardo! Or even better, Luigi! Oh, that would be so sweet if your name was Luigi! That's the best name that begins with an L, ever!" Everpony just stared at the overly energetic pony. This was going to be a looooong day....
