> No Longer Living on the Moon > by WingBeatz > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > So Many Bad Dreams > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luna layed in her bed. The sun outside, blocked out by the shades on her window. She cried. Her sister knocked quietly on her door. "Luna please come out. What is wrong?" "Nothing! Just go away!" She huddled herself in the covers and whimpered. Why? Why was her sister more beloved than herself? Why was she hated for actions in the past? Can she not change her image that has been splayed out for all to see? Was it her own fault that she did not know Equestria after thousands of years on the moon? No, wait. Her sister banished her to the moon. All because she didn't want to put the moon down, because she wanted as much attention as her sister. But now she realizes that to her sister, apparently raising the moon means nothing. She is not needed. When she was gone who did her job? Celestia rose the sun and moon. Luna was not needed. If her sister can do what she does, why is she still here? Celestia knocked once more on her door. "Luna please. It is time for the Winter Moon celebration! You have to raise the moon on the shortest day of year today! Please!" Luna arose from her bed and wiped the tears from her eyes. She did not want to go outside but it was a celebration of her moon. She could not miss it. But then again, would anypony show up? She knew Twilight Sparkle would. Twilight believed in her, but what about anypony else? She opened the door to find her sister looking very upset with her. Another tear ran down her cheek and she brushed it off as the galloped down the corridor. They finally reached the main gate. They stepped outside to be greeted by many press. Celestia answered many questions. Luna answered none. Whenever anypony came close to her they started to become very scared. No one believed that she had truly changed. They sure can hold a grudge. Suddenly a pony came towards her and asked with a smirk, "So Luna, after thousands of years on the moon we've been having Princess Celestia host both celebrations. How does knowing that Celestia can do your job and her's at the same time, make you feel?" Luna had no expression at first but it soon changed to anger as she realized what he was hinting at. this pony hated her, along with all of the other press there. Her mane burst into a night sky, shimmering with what seemed like stars in her flowing hair. Her eyes glowed in anger as she flew to the main podium. She stood and spoke in her natural voice from long ago. "Attention everypony!" "What are you doing sister? The ceremony is not supposed to start now!" Celestia flew to her and looked up at her. She realized something. She was looking up at her. She soon became scared that Luna would rise the moon and never put it down like before, but what she said next surprised her. 'You are right Celestia, but that is because it will not start at all." "Why are you doing this?" The white Princess looked at her with sorrow in her eyes. "Because... Because, I am sick of being your shadow! I am not needed here! You can do my job and watch over the night! You did while I was gone didn't you?!" She was now crying. "Luna! I may be able to, but that doesn't mean I can do it easily! It is easier for you!" The press were running, afraid that Nightmare Moon would appear at any moment from Luna's unhappiness. "No sister! You can raise the moon, and the sun! I do not need to be here! I do not have any purpose... No purpose at all." She looked to the ground. "Besides, aren't you afraid of me? I was... No, I am. I am Nightmare Moon!" Ponies ran in terror. Luan's armor was now assembling. Nightmare Moon had finally arrived, once more. > Banishment, No Banish Me > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Luna I never said you were useless!" Celestia ducked for cover as Luna, or Nightmare Moon's, magic started whipping things around wildly. "What the hay is going on here?!" Twilight had finally arrived, along with the other five of the mane six. "Stay out of this!!!" Nightmare Moon used her magic to throw a table in their direction. They crouched to the ground, the table missing them by a few inches. "Luna! You are going to hurt somepony! Please stop this madness!" "No sister! You can do it yourself!" "But Luna!" "No! You can raise the Moon!" "What?!" Twilight stood quickly. "You don't want to raise the moon?!" "Silence!" Nightmare Moon threw another item in her direction. "But Luna! Why?!" "I said SILENCE!" She levitated a chair towards her and suddenly, Twilight was on the ground. Bleeding, and gored. Everything stopped and dropped to the ground. Everypony gasped when they realised why. Nightmare Moon disappeared in a split second and Luna appeared in her place. "Twilight!" Celestia and her sister flew to her, but Applejack stood in their way. "Don't ya think yu've done anuff?!" Luna was surprised at first, then realised that AJ didn't want her near Twilight. "But I... I." Pinkie galloped to Luna. "Why?! What did you have to do that for?!" Luna started to cry. She didn't mean to hurt Twilight. She didn't mean to hurt anypony in her rampage. But it was all her fault. It's always her fault. Celestia was laying next her most faithful student when the medical ponies started to arrive. She stood and turned to her sister. "Luna..." "Put me on the moon." "Wha- What?" "Aren't you going to banish me? I almost killed Twilight, and as I said earlier, I am not needed here. So banish me to the moon." "Luna. I would never do that to you." These words sent her over the edge. "Never? Never ever?! Are you sure?! Because you've done it before! Do it now! I'm wide open!" Rainbow Dash suddenly spoke up. "Come on Princess! She almost killed Twilight! She isn't gonna do her job! Just do it already!" "I am sorry all. But I cannot do that. I cannot lose her again. I do not wish to be alone, for another thousand years." "Sister. Now I know, you knew how I felt. But I hold strong, and I will not rise the moon." > Flying Through Shooting Stars > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luna spread her wings wide and lifted off the ground. In one quick swoop she was flying upwards into the night sky. Celestia followed her. "Sister where are you going?!" Luna looked down at her and yelled, "If you will not banish me I will banish myself! I do not wish for any more harm to come because of me..." She shot up farther, and faster. The moon was gradually getting closer. "Luna no! I will not allow this! I cannot survive without my sister! I am giving you no choice! Please go back to the ground." Celestia flapped harder and harder but she wasn't gaining much. "Then I will. I hate life, and the terrible beings you and your petty servants are! You want me back on the ground? Than it's no different from going to the moon!" She stopped and hung in mid air while gravity delayed to catch up with her. Suddenly she started to fall. She was gaining speed and slowly closed her eyes, as if accepting her fate. "No..." Celestia whispered. "No!" She raced after her trying to catch her before she hit the ground. But she was too late. To her it was all in slow motion. The stop, the fall, the ground and how quickly it approached. Luna opened her eyes once more to the beautiful face of the one she loved closest. "I love you Tia." "KRAK!" The sound a pony's neck breaking under the weight of herself. The sudden way the dark blue alicorn slumped over, dead and unmoving. Celestia gasped and stood, not knowing what to do next. Her sister. The only thing that she had left to hold onto, that let her sleep at night and know she was right there, was gone. She wasn't there anymore. She fell to the dirt and cried. She screamed over and over letting out the pain of a thousand years. Luna was permanently on the moon.
