Chapter 1: New beginnings

View Online

A gleaming moon rose just at the midpoint of the sky. The Moon graciously shined down a light over a certain garden. A castle rose above it all towering over the garden in a brilliant design.

“Midnight, Amethyst? You both need to come in, Twilight is looking for you.”

A slender looking mare stood in the garden with a rainbow mane. She looked as if royalty just came to her naturally.

A young filly came trotting up to the regal mare.

“Mother, I don’t know where Midnight is.”

The filly had a purple tinted coat with light blue mane. She had very calm features with only one exception, a rainbow streak shot out in the front of her mane.

The regal mare looked dead at one tree.

“Midnight! Come out now! Twilight and I are about to leave for Canterlot.”

A colt, seemingly just a bit older than the filly poked his head from around the tree. His coat was black with a mane of tussled deep purple hair. However his eyes shined brightly with magenta.

“Try and see if you can catch me, then I will go with you.”

The cyan blue mare started walking towards the tree.

“You realize that you just gave away where you are hiding, right?”

The colt’s facial expression dropped.

“Dah, crap!”

The colt spread his wings, revealing that he was a pegasus.

Just as he got ten feet away, the regal mare spread her wings and dashed after him.

Immediately she caught him.

“Amethyst now!”

The rainbow Pegasus had enough time to look up before a bucket of water fell on her.

The colt and filly immediately started to giggle.

The now drenched mare looked at the two children, and joined in the laughter.

“You know I can’t let you two get away with this, right?”

Both of the little ponies froze. The rainbow Pegasus still smiled however.

“Come over here Amethyst.”

The filly took a slow walk towards the others.

The Pegasus put a hoof right on the rainbow streak on her head. She moved her hoof pushing away some of the hair revealing a unicorn horn.

“I thought you didn’t know how use that.”

The little filly looked up.

“I just learned today! Midnight said we should prank you with it.”

The colt pushed the filly

“No I didn’t!”

The older Pegasus leaned in.

“You know what that magic isn’t going to help you against? “

The young ponies both froze and their eyes lit up, for they both knew what was coming.

“Tickle fight!”

Both ponies tried to dart away from the Pegasus, but were caught quickly by two hoofs.

The Pegasus started to nuzzle the ponies with her muzzle.

The laughter soon insinuated.

“Tee hee, stop!”

Amethyst was able to escape from the hold. Out of breath she quickly jumped right at the pegasus and rubbed right under her left wing.

“Ppppppfffff hahahaha!”

The pegasus fell on the floor letting go of Midnight. Amethyst continued her tickle assault on the older mare, with Midnight joining in.

“Okay! Okay! You guys win!”

Amethyst and Midnight climbed off of her. Slowly regaining her breath the pegasus stayed on the grass.

From the castle a guard stepped out. He approached the mare on the floor.

“Madam, Princess Twilight has sent for you.”

“Oh, I completely forgot about that! Midnight, Amethyst, you two go on ahead on me.”

Midnight pouted.

”Why are we heading on without you?”

The mare picked herself from the floor.

“Because I am going to pick Twilight out a book.”

Amethyst was already by the entrance to the castle.

“Come on Midnight. We don’t want to be in trouble.”

The colt turned and flew towards Amethyst. As soon as he got to the entrance he turned to the mare in the court yard.

“We will see you in a little bit, right mom?”

She smiled back.

“Of course you will.”

The colt smiled and went inside with Amethyst.

Inside the entrance was a long hallway leading towards a wider room. Midnight smiled towards Amethyst.

“Hey we should race. I won’t use my wings.”

Amethyst didn’t bother to even turn her head.

“Why would I want to race you if there is nothing in it for me?

“Well… umm for fun?”

Midnight turned his head just long enough to look back up, and see Amethyst halfway down the hall.

“What? Amethyst, that’s cheating!”

Faintly a voice returned.

“When have I ever declined a race!?”

Midnight immediately started after her. The ponies raced down the hallway almost running over a guard.

They were neck and neck until the end where they each reached a large corridor with a formidable door in front of them.

Amethyst came to a halt.

“Hey Midnight.”

“Wha-“

As soon as the colt turned his head, he ran face first into the large door.

“You won.”

Amethyst came to the large door and did a six knock sequence. The door swung open after it was enveloped in a purple hue. A slender lavender unicorn stood near the center of room. A panicked expression enveloped her face, but a crown rested on the top of her head.

“Oh good, Midnight, Amethyst, you’re here.”

Her face went from panicked to happy into frustrated.

“And you’re covered in grass and soaking wet.”

The little ponies looked at themselves. Just like Twilight had said they were covered in grass and soaking wet.

Twilight rolled her eyes.

“This has to be the work of-“

Before she could finish the door flew open again. The cyan pegasus from the garden came through. Her rainbow mane was dripping wet and had a twig tangled in it, a small bag hanging from her back.

Twilight smiled slightly, breathing out the next word.

“Rainbow.”

Rainbow came over and pulled a book from her bag.

“I thought we could read this.”

Twilight looked at the three ponies in her throne room, all soaking wet.

“Nice example you’re setting for children.”

Twilight went over to Rainbow and kissed her, Rainbow blushed after the kiss.

“Hey beautiful.”

Twilight turned towards Midnight and Amethyst.

“As for you two, shouldn’t you think that it was a bad idea to prank Rainbow before we left?”

Midnight’s eyes widened.

“How do you know we did that?”

Twilight nuzzled the small pegasus.

“Because I am your mother, and mothers know everything.”

Rainbow flew right over Twilight.

“Yeah!”

“Rainbow, you’re getting me wet!”

Rainbow backed up a little but leaned in to whisper in Twilight’s ear.

“Aww but that’s not supposed to happen until tonight!”

Twilight’s eyes shot open.

“RAINBOW!”

Amethyst leaned towards Midnight.

“What are they talking about?”

“Isn’t it obvious? They get to go swimming in Canterlot without us! That is so unfair.”

Amethyst backed away and threw herself on Twilight.

“Come on, let us go too!”

“No sweetie, Rainbow and I have to go and see Celestia privately. Don’t worry though, I asked Pinkie Pie to come babysit you and your brother.”

Midnight shot up.

“Auntie Pinkie is coming!”

Amethyst sighed and backed away from Twilight. Pinkie Pie was great and everything, but her parents left almost every week for some assignment Celestia asked them to do.

“Mom, do you have to go?”

“Yes, I am afraid me and Rainbow are needed in Canterlot.”

Rainbow flew over to where Twilight and Amethyst were.

“Twi’ you go on ahead to the carriage. I will put Amethyst and Midnight to bed.”

“Okay, I will see you in a bit.”

Rainbow picked up Amethyst and Midnight.

“Okay kids, you ready for something awesome?”

Both Midnight and Amethyst giggled. They knew that whenever Rainbow put them to bed they would take a high-speed lap around the castle. Twilight absolutely hated that Rainbow would do it and would fret about getting the kids ‘hyped up’.

Rainbow started to fly down the hallway at least three times the speed that the children experienced on their race up it, all the way down the hallway slowly increasing speed until they reached the door leading to the garden area.

“Okay kids hold on tight.”

Rainbow slowed down, did a 360° turn and kicked the door open almost giving the guard next to it a heart attack. She flew outside and did a roll upwards until her rainbow mane created an afterimage.

She looked down onto Midnight and Amethyst smiling faces.

“Okay, we are going to do a sonic rainboom.”

Midnight’s face displayed extreme excitement, Amethyst’s face however, decided on fear.

“Now mom, do you really think we are ready for this?”

Midnight quickly interjected.

“I am!”

Amethyst shot him a look of almost complete distain.

“Mom, you have never done it before with us-“

Rainbow nudged Amethyst and smiled at her lovingly.

“I’m doing it anyway.”

Rainbow took a quick turn around until they were facing towards Equestria.

Amethyst looked and saw how the clouds were under them.

Fear shivered up her spine.

“Mom, no! No, no, no, no, no. NO!”

They quickly picked up speed until Amethyst’s screams could barely be heard over the wind. A cone of compression started to surround them, slowly getting tighter until it felt as if they had escaped a rapidly shrinking hallway. Amethyst couldn’t even open her eyes, and she didn't want to. The sound of the wind and Midnight’s laughter filled her ears until Rainbow’s voice broke through.

“Look behind us Amethyst.”

Amethyst opened her eyes when she turned around and didn't feel the wind assaulting her eye lids.

“Whoa.”

She looked behind and the color of Rainbow’s mane seemed to flow flawlessly from her to night sky.

Rainbow smiled at Amethyst.

“Look at your mane.”

Amethyst’s eyes moved until she saw the top of her bangs. The one streak of rainbow in her hair flowed just like her mother’s did.

Twilight walked slowly towards the door leading outside to her carriage.

Come on Twilight; don’t feel so bad… but you do. The look on Amethyst face almost tore me to pieces! I’m sure that Rainbow is tucking them in right now.

Twilight opened a large door and was greeted by her royal guard waiting in the carriage.

“Okay, we need to wait on Rainbow. She is putting the children to be-“

A large boom shook the air and Twilight looked up to see a large Rainbow circle leading to…two rainbow streaks.

Rainbow, if you have Amethyst up there I am going to kill you!

“Please stay here I will be right back.”

Twilight immediately turned around and headed towards the castle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amethyst and Midnight burst through the door leading to their bedroom, behind them followed Rainbow Dash.

"Okay kids it's night-time for you two."

Midnight and Amethyst both frowned.

"Oh come on, Twilight is waiting on me. I have to leave."

Amethyst looked out the window and turned back to her mother.

"Okay leave...it's your grave."

"What?"

Rainbow walked over towards the window to see Twilight running towards the main gate of the castle.

"Or on second thought I could just hide" Midnight flew over to the closet and opened it up signalling for Rainbow to get in.

Only seconds passed before Twilight burst into the room.

"Hi, mom."

"Where is she?!?"

Amethyst simply shrugged at the comment. Twilight came to her bed and scooped Amethyst up in her hooves.

"Oh, sweetie are you alright? Do you want me to punish Rainbow? Oh I'm so sorry she did that to you, it must have been horrifying!"

"Actually, it was one of the most funnest things I've ever done!"

Twilight looked at her daughter's rapidly expanding smile, irrationally scared that if it got any wider it would go past the edges of her head.

"Funnest is not a word, darling."

Midnight raised a hoof from his bed.

"I had a lot of fun too. Also I wasn't scared."

Twilight looked over to Midnight.

"I knew you would enjoy it. Now I will ask one more time, where is your mother?

Rainbow opened the closet door and snuck up to Twilight.

"Boo."

Twilight jumped from the bed with her heart racing.

"Oh come on Twi' that wasn't scary in the slightest!"

A voice rang from the carriage outside.

"Twilight, Rainbow we need to leave!"

Rainbow and Twilight both took turns saying their goodbyes to their children savoring the moment best they could.

"I love you."

Amethyst and Midnight both raised their heads, nuzzling their mothers as much as the time left allowed.

"We love you too mom, also you mom."

"Well I love all of you at least 20% more than you love me."

"Shut up Rainbow."

The carriage ride was along drawn out scene until Rainbow and Twilight reached the Train station.

As they walked onto a private train that awaited them, they headed towards the back.

In the back cabin there was a luxury suite with one bed. Twilight sat on it and sighed.

"I feel guilty about leaving the kids."

"Don't, there isn't much we can do."

Rainbow sat on the bed right behind Twilight and nibbled her ear a little.

"Now what about this punishing me you spoke of?"

Twilight turned around until she was face to face with Rainbow.

"Oh, I haven't forgotten."

She pushed on Rainbow until she was completely on top of her.

"You’re going to stay on you back with no resisting."

Rainbow let out a soft moan and nodded.

"Ugh."

Amethyst was slowly drawn from her slumber.

She looked around the large bedroom until her eyes focused on Midnight's bed.

"Midnight?"

Amethyst propped herself up in her bed, wavering slightly from sleep still holding on.

"Miiiiiiddddnnnniiiggghhhttt. Where are you?"

Amethyst leaned over her bed to get a better look at Midnight's bed. She quickly lost her balance, falling straight onto the floor with a muffled thump.

"Oh, hello floor. I'ma gonna sleep on you."

Amethyst plopped her head onto the floor, and stayed there for an unknown amount of time until a familiar noise interrupted her slumber.

"That is classy Amethyst. Especially for a princess."

Midnight stood in the doorway glancing towards Amethyst.

"How long have you been there anyways? You look terrible."

Amethyst slowly got off the floor and dragged herself towards Midnight.

"I look fantastic, so you can shut your face. As for how long I haven't a clue."

Amethyst walked past Midnight and headed into the hallway.

Midnight looked towards where she was heading.

"Wrong way Am’.”

Amethyst stopped dead in her tracks and glared down at Midnight. Who simply pointed in the other direction.

She walked towards where he pointed, entering a bathroom. Propping herself in front of a sink she grabbed a toothbrush.

"Not going to use magic for that?"

Midnight stood at the door.

"Magic is stupid."

"Because you can't use it."

"I can use it, I just don't want to."

"Sure, there is a brush in the second drawer if you want to do something with your mane."

Midnight turned and left down the hallway. Amethyst looked in the mirror, her light blue mane tousled while her rainbow streak was but a tuft in her bangs.

Why would I bush my mane, it's fine.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An extensive library stood before Midnight. An older looking mare came to him.

"Finished that book already?"

Midnight smiled and looked at the older mare. Her features were soft and friendly, a white coat and blonde mane complimented her rather well.

"Hello, Libra."

Midnight flew over and hugged the mare. Looking into her eyes he asked.

"Do you have the new one?"

"I have a lot of ‘new ones’, you’re going to have to be more specific."

Midnight pouted.

"Oh stop that, your face might stick like that. Now I guess we better check if 'The New Adventures Of Graywood' has arrived."

"You’re the author, shouldn't you know?!?"

Libra brought out a box from a cabinet nearby.

"Yes, but I'm not the one who creates copies and ships them out though."

"You know, don't you?"

Libra smiled.

"Yes, I know the exact day that we will receive it. If you listened the first time I told you, we wouldn't be having this conversation now."

Midnight’s shame made the floor much more interesting at that moment.

"I know, I just thought you would get it earlier."

Libra smiled and put a hoof on Midnight's shoulder.

"That's because I did. Library's closed though so I'm not getting it."

"Oh come on!"

"Look Midnight, This is a whole two days that neither Twilight Sparkle nor Rainbow Dash will be in here constantly reading. I need this vacation. Now run along, Pinkie Pie should be here soon."

Midnight stood there as he remembered their babysitter.

Oh yeah, I hope auntie Pinkie brought-

"Midnight! "

Before Midnight could even turn around two pink hooves wrapped around him.

"Auntie!"

The pink earth pony stood on two legs as she squeezed the colt close to her.

She finally let go and Midnight fell to the ground in a heap.

"Come on we are going to sneak hug Amethyst."

Midnight smiled and followed Pinkie outside the library. He knew that Amethyst hated hugs, it was fun to pester her with them.

"Hey, where's Bright Skies?"

"She went to the garden to see if Twilight planted any new flowers. Now it's my turn to ask a question. Where is Amethyst?"

"Taking a shower would be my best guess."

"Mom!"

Midnight was barely able to turn around before a pink flask hit Pinkie Pie.

"Mom, mom, mom! They planted the Bunny Rose!"

A filly stood atop of pinkie. Her coat was hot pink while her mane was a faded pink with a yellow tint. Her wings folded snug against her body.

Pinkie jumped into the air.

"Bunny Roses!"

She started to gallop out of the room. Midnight looked at the filly next to him, bangs falling over her eyes.

"Hi Bright."

"Oh... Hi Midnight...Where's Amethyst?"

"I will tell you if you tell me why Pinkie just galloped out of the room."

Bright Skies looked over to midnight with her bangs falling over one eye.

"Because my mother...Fluttershy, loves Bunny Roses"

Amethyst popped up behind Midnight.

"Hey!"

Midnight fell over in shock, while Bright didn't even blink.

"Don't do that!"

Amethyst flicked Midnight's nose.

"Do what?"

Bright Skies looked at Amethyst and then looked down, a blush running across her face.

“…Hi... Amethyst."

"Bright!"

Amethyst ran over to Bright Skies and hugged her, causing her to squeak.

Amethyst let go of Bright, confusion playing across her face.

“Wait, did- did you just squeak?"

"Uhh... maybe?"

Amethyst started to laugh, tears coming to her eyes.

"Hahaha, who in the world squeaks?"

Pinkie Jumped from behind Midnight.

"Brighty is a squeaker, and so is Flutters!"

If Amethyst could have jumped out of her skin, now would have been the time.

"Oh Celestia!"

Pinkie smiled and patted Amethyst on the head.

"Who wants lunch?"

"I just got up."

"You got up two hours ago Amethyst."

“I- Shut up.” Amethyst defensively snapped.

As the other ponies started to walk toward the hallway, Amethyst stopped Pinkie.

"Why did my parents have to go see Celestia?"

"Oh that's simple! It's because Twili- wait a minute, I'm not supposed to say that."

"What? You can't just quit midsentence!"

"Hey, I made a Pinkie promise. If I break this I might lose Twi's friendship FOREVER. Also I would have to stick a cupcake in my eye, and let me level something with you, that hurts."

"Uh huh, right."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pinkie started to hop into the kitchen, where the other children were. Amethyst started behind her with a pout running across her face.

"Cupcake bullsh-"

Quickly Pinkie brought muffins in front of Amethyst and the other ponies.

"Muffins are done!"

Amethyst had a blank expression on before confusion took over.

"Wait... wha-...how?"

Midnight pushed her to the side.

"Aww sweet, muffins!"

"Hey don't push me!"

"Or what, you'll torture me with bad pop-culture?"

"That... that doesn't even make sense!"

Bright Skies stood between them, her face looking from Midnight to Amethyst.

"I...I don't know what's happening."

Pinkie slowly came up to her and poked her face with a muffin. After the third poke Bright finally took it.

"Sometimes they confuse me too Bright. One minute they will be arguing and the other they will be joking around."

Bright turned looked back at Amethyst and Midnight, who were still arguing.

"Oh, come on Midnight! At least I didn't interrogate a pedestrian."

"We were lost! All I did was ask for some directions, and it wasn't interrogation until you threatened to blow him up with some spell!"

"And I would have!"

"No, you wouldn't you don't know anything except how to levitate a bucket of water!"

Amethyst looked to the ground. Bright Skies looked towards her.

"Amethyst? Are you-"

Before she could finish her sentence Amethyst seemed to perk up with a new energy.

"Wanna bet?"

Midnight looked at Amethyst quizzically.

"What? What are you planning?"

"Mostly your demise, but if I could get a few bits out of it that would be great."

"Ugh, Whatever Am', do what you will."

Amethyst ran out of the kitchen. Pinkie looked over to Midnight.

"What just happened?"

"Didn't you hear? Amethyst is doing something stupid...again."

"I actually didn't hear anything. I went to see if the guards blink like 3 minutes ago, I thought they didn’t blink at all like snakes, wouldn’t that be just amazing? Never having to miss those precious moments when you blink, that’s when they strike, that’s why I can keep my eyes open for so long, I trained myself. But they blinked after a while, which totally ruined the image of a giant snake overlord controlling all the guards with telepathy. So I came back."

Midnight slammed his head against the table.

"Am I the only normal one here?"

Bright patted him on the shoulder.

"No, but you are the only straight one."

Midnight's ears immediately perked up followed by his head. Bright Skies wanted to hide and never come out again.

Did I just say that out loud?

Midnight was still staring at her.

"Did you just say that you’re gay?"

Bright Skies checks felt as if they had burst into flames.

"NO! And I want to ummmm.... yeah I want to know where Amethyst went, BUT NOT FROM YOU!"

Bright stormed out of the room as she was yelling, her whole face resembling a rather cute, but embarrassed tomato.

Midnight's confused expression never left.

"Did you catch all of that Pinkie? …You’re not here are you?"

Midnight turned around to see that he was the only one in the kitchen. Laying his head back onto the table he sighed.

"Of course."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amethyst ran down a long hallway leading to two large corridor doors. She started to push against one of the enormous doors. The door slowly creaked open, and she peeked in to see if there was anypony inside.

"Okay, coast is clear. Just a little farther."

Amethyst smiled to herself as she entered the room. The room was long with 12 windows on each side. A purple carpet with rainbow trimmings was the centrepiece of a long hallway, with two thrones at the far end of the room. Amethyst took her time walking down to the thrones, but walked past the right throne. Behind the throne was a small extension of the wall covering another door. Amethyst quickly opened the door and entered into a staircase.

"This will be a cinch."

A huge smile ran across her face as she started up the stairs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bright ran out of the kitchen and didn't stop until what seemed like hours passed. Panting she looked down one side of a hallway to the other.

Uhhhh... How many turns did I make?

Steadily she started to walk down the hallway.

"He- Hello? Is anyone here?"

Footsteps started to reverberate throughout the hallway. Bright stopped walking and looked at her hooves. The echo of new footsteps still ran down the hallway. Bright backed away from where the sound seemed to be originating.

"Bright!"

The mysterious voice seemed to be right behind her. Bright's wings shot from her sides as she flew at breakneck speeds in the opposite direction. The voice seemed to shout after her but Bright ignored them as she flew screaming down the hallway.

"Okay, coast is clear. Just a little farther."

Bright came to a corner leading to another hallway. She peeked her head around the corner to see a filly entering a through a shallowly opened door.

Is that Amethyst?

Bright flew over to the door, and squeezed through the small crack left opened. As soon as Bright squeezed into the room she saw Amethyst walking down the carpeted path. Amethyst smiled as she walked down looking all around the room, a few giggles escaped as Amethyst seemed to be lost in her own world. Bright found herself smiling as Amethyst made her way down to the end of the room.

What are you doing Am'?

Amethyst walked past a small covered area.

Wait...What are you doing?

Bright walked towards the covered area.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Midnight was alone in the kitchen. He leaned back in his chair and balanced a muffin on his snout.

I should probably try and cool everyone down a bit.

Walking out of the kitchen, he looked for the main foyer. Upon reaching it, he found a guard stood next to the door that lead outside. Midnight approached him.

"Have you seen a very angry or narcissistic pony come through here?"

"I can only assume you are talking of your friend and sister. No, I haven't seen either of them."

Midnight turned away.

"Oh, well thank you anyways."

Where would you go Bright...Am' you would go to Amethyst. Ugh whatever, now where would you go Am'? Our room? No, you are going to try and win some stupid bet you made to yourself....Where would you go to help yourself in magic. Sage room... no you wouldn't think of that... Maybe the library?

Midnight started down the most familiar path to the library that he knew. Half way down the set path a pegasus flew right past Midnight, but stopped half way down the hallway. Quickly he recognized that the pegasus was Bright.

"Bright!"

Bright seemed to jump eight feet in the air before running in the opposite direction a Midnight.

"No, Bright it's me. Midnight. Bright? Bright? Bright!"

Oh, come on. I should follow her but at a distance that she is less likely to trample me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amethyst climbed a circular staircase which seemed to take hours, finally leading to a large room filled with books.

"Okay I know that it is in here somewhere."

After a little while of looking Amethyst sat on the ground and looked at the large collection of books she had gathered.

"Oh man, this is going to take forever!"

"Umm.... I could help."

Amethyst turned around to see Bright at the doorway leading into the room.

"Bright! Di- did you follow me? ...Wait I don't care, I would like your help however."

"Uhhh o-okay."

Amethyst pushed half of her pile to Bright.

"Okay look for a book that has strong spells in it."

After a few minutes Amethyst held up a book.

"Aha! This is the winner. Okay Bright just sit down and hold any page open."

A slip of paper fell out of the binding of the book. Amethyst looked at it.

Rainbow,

Last night was great. I never thought in my life that we could find somewhere so...so beautiful. I was thinking abo-

Amethyst quickly replaced the paper in the book.

"Nope, not going to read any more of that."

Amethyst turned to another page and gazed through the book.

"Could you hold this page, and specifically this page, open?"

"O-Okay."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Midnight had almost finished up the stairs before a light started to shine from the top.

What the-

"Okay Bright just, just hold still."

"I will Am'. I trust you, but that does look pretty hard."

"Well I guess it's good that you trust me right?"

Midnight slowly started up the stairs until he heard Amethyst start to grunt followed by a few gasps from Bright.

Midnight stopped dead in his tracts.

Okay...They aren't doing anything… just... playing... Yeah, playing… What I am saying is that if I put together what happened today, it is safe to assume- NO! Don't think like that. Just check on them, knock on the door or call their names.

"Uhhh Amethyst, Bright? Are you uhhh okay?"

A harsh whisper followed his inquiry.

"Amethyst stop! Midnight can hear us. "

"Oh uhh, I would, but I can't I-I'm already too far in."

Midnight froze, each and every limb felt numb all of a sudden.

"But isn't there some way to you know...let it go?"

"I'm sorry have you done this before because it is my first time."

Midnight somehow shook off his paralysis and started up the last few stairs.

"I'm coming up."

When he took a step both Amethyst and Bright screamed.

"No!"

A bright flash engulfed the room and Midnight.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amethyst felt her vision start to return. She looked around to see neither Bright nor Midnight anywhere near her.

"Ugh...Where am I?"

A sign that said library pointed towards a tree house in front of her.

"I guess I better figure out."

When Amethyst stood up she noticed the book she had chosen was next to her.

"Right, you my friend, are coming with me."

A high pitched whistle echoed through the morning air.

"Mmmmrrrgggghhhh."

Twilight slowly opened her eyes, her eyes slowly adjusting to the new light intrusion. As she observed her surroundings, she noticed a dim light shone into the room from a nearby window. A constant clatter of train tracks slowly dissipated into white noise. A small squeak came from her when Rainbow's arm wrapped around her, and pulled the mare closer. Twilight’s whole body went limp as she nuzzled closer to Rainbow, enveloped by her warmth.

"I love you."

Twilight looked up to Rainbow's face. Her mane was tousled and falling over her eyes.

"Garnelwhozafrazzle"

Rainbow opened her mouth and drool dripped ever so slightly.

Well that was attractive.

Twilight gingerly kissed Rainbow's forehead. A soft smile spread across her face. Twilight slowly worked her way out of Rainbow's grip, and made her way over to the mirror.

FWWEEETTT

A train whistle reverberated through the room, painfully reminding the pair that they need to be awake.

Do they have to blow that every 5 minutes?

Twilight turned her head to where Rainbow was laying. Rainbow's body was now sprawled across the queen sized bed with her wing tips at each end of the bed.

Wow, really turning me on today Rainbow. How in the world does she sleep through the noise?

Three knocks rang through the room, followed by a low voice.

"Princess Twilight Sparkle?"

Twilight walked towards the door and slightly opened it.

"Yes? Also can you keep it down? My wife is asleep."

The stallion at the door seemed to be caught off guard by the comment.

"Ye-"

Twilight gave him a stern look. The stallion jumped back, and fell into a whisper.

"I- I mean yes ma'am."

Twilight smiled at the flustered stallion in front of her. The stallion started again.

"Well it seems th-"

"Stop."

"What, why?"

Twilight put a hoof on her forehead.

"Why does whispering elude you?"

The stallion came into realization that he continuously would start to speak in a normal tone. Quickly reverting to a whisper he continued.

"Well, princess. The train ride has been delayed. Princess Celestia has requested a private meeting, so we are to take a back way to Canterlot through the mountains."

"I see, Thank you. Now was that so hard?"

The stallion put on a blunt expression.

"I will withhold any comment."

Twilight smiled.

"Now you're learning!"

Twilight closed the door behind her as she walked back towards the mirror.

"Heads up!"

Twilight was able to turn around just in time to see a pillow fly into her face. As she removed the pillow she saw Rainbow lying in the bed.

"What are you doing up without me Twi'?"

"Well, unlike you I can't sleep through repetitive train whistles."

Rainbow smiled.

"Yeah whatever. You should come back to bed though."

Twilight seemed to ponder a bit before she smiled back and responded.

"Okay, I could enjoy some lazing around, but before I do that."

Twilight tossed a hoof towel towards Rainbow.

"I don't want to be laying in your drool."

Rainbow started to talk under her breath.

"You don't lay in my drool, but you lay in my-"

"Rainbow!"

Rainbow looked up sharply, putting on a face of pure innocence that did not suit her in the slightest.

"What? I didn't say anything."

Twilight smirked and lay down next to Rainbow. Rainbow looked at the drool spot under Twilight.

"I- I uhh didn't c-"

Twilight's lips connected with Rainbow's, her tongue once again starting the fight with Dash’s for control. As per usual, Twilight won this little bout, forcing her way into Rainbow’s mouth and savouring her victory in the only way possible, forcing the kiss to go on until they were both left breathless.

As their lips parted, a thin strand of saliva connected them. Rainbow's whole face donned a bright shade of pink as she started to stutter out.

"Why did you come back so quickly, and do that?"

"Because it would make this better."

"Wha-"

Before Rainbow could finish a pillow slammed against her from above.

"Oh, it is on!"

Rainbow managed to scramble three pillows together, throwing one at her assailant as she flew ever so slightly into the air. Twilight swiftly dodged the projectile, and fell into a defensive position behind the bed.

"I don't think you know how well I'm versed in pillow warfare Rainbow!"

"Nnnnneeeeerrrrrdddddd!"

A pillow flew right above Twilight's head grazing the tip of her horn. Twilight levitated the pillow that lay next to her.

Oh no Rainbow, now it is on!

Stacks of papers scattered across a sculpted mahogany desk. The room was dimly lit showing three large bookshelves decorating the wall all the way to a closed door. Opposite to the bookshelves were three large windows.

"Aauuooww nomnomnom."

Princess Celestia sat in front of the desk. Her pink mane covered her eyes and fell to her sides softly.

"Yo, nerd!"

Princess Luna popped from around Celestia's seat, making Celestia jump in surprise.

"Ahhh!"

Celestia moved her bangs away from her eyes, and caught her breath.

"Luna, don't do that!"

"Wow, is that your natural hair color? Don't even have enough energy to make it all magical, and wavy."

"Are you just trying to irritate me?"

"Yeah, a little. Why so gloom bloom? I thought mornings were your niche."

"You know sometimes I miss your royal equestrian voice."

Luna stepped back from her daunting sister.

"Where did that come? What are you getting at?

Celestia looked up and simply smiled.

"Oh, because back then I knew you were being annoying by accident."

The faces of the sisters were as different as night and day. One a picture of innocence and the other, a venomous attacking snarl.

"Yeah whatever bubble-gum. If you keep at the desk job you're not going to be on time for when Twilight and Rainbow come."

Celestia seemed to forget all about her morning fatigue, and jumped at the chance to escape the seemingly piles of paperwork.

"Now why would I forget that? I just... lost track of time, yeah."

Luna glanced behind herself to give a smirk.

"They will be at the mountain station in ten minutes."

Celestia saw the look on her sister's face.

"Dare I ask what is with the smirk?"

"Oh, I just can't wait to see you completely turn your personality for your precious student."

"And I can't wait to see you do the same for Rainbow. You know she's married right?"

A blush erupted onto Luna's face.

"What!? I don't know what you're talking about! She is my favorite that's all!"

"Sure, whatever you say Luna."

"Sh- Shut up!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Minute Seven,
I've been at war with the smexy unicorn army for too long. With only half the pillow ammunition I seemed to have ten seconds ago. Repair on my cushion fort seems like an impossibility without getting bombarded by the enemy. I on-"

A Pillow flew across the room and hit a box shape made of red couch cushions.

"Hate to tell you Rainbow, but I don't think comedy is going to work against me."

Twilight stared at the 'fort' until Rainbow slowly peaked her head out of the gap she made in the front. As soon as Rainbow met eyes with Twilight, she dove back into cover.

"Minute Eight,
I met eyes with the commander; I could have sworn I felt my heart skip. I'm not sure if it was from fear... or something worse.
I only have one pillow in my munitions pile. I'm going to have to try something drastic."

"Oh come now, Rainbow. Now you're just telling me what you're going to do."

Rainbow burst through her fort, and threw her pillow straight at Twilight. Twilight saw straight through Rainbow's ambush and dodged to the side, easily avoiding the pillow.

"Now why did you th-"

Before Twilight was able to finish her sentence the flying pegasus locked into an embrace with her. Rainbow acted immediately, and quickly pressed her lips against Twilight's quickly overpowering the now limp unicorn.

She started to fight back, but felt Rainbow complete take control of the situation. Her strength seemed to be totally dispelled from her body.

"Boop"

Twilight was quickly drawn away from the sublime fantasy she had been imagining. Gasping she finally managed to stutter.

"What?"

Rainbow smiled as she tapped Twilight's head with a nearby pillow.

"I win."

Twilight felt her already hot cheeks catch fire.

"Wh- what? no, That was unfair!"

"All's fair in love and war."

"But you can't mix the two!"

Rainbow flew off of Twilight and stayed in the air lifting both her arms.

"WOOT!"

Twilight started to get up, but still felt weak so she plopped down on some nearby cushions.

"Woot?"

"Woot."

"What is woot?”

"Woot is victory."

Rainbow had a huge smile on her face looking at the beaten Twilight. Twilight had a displeased look on her face.

"You're so stupid."

"WOOT!"

Three heavy knocks reverberated through the room, followed by low voice.

"Princess Twilight, the Royal Sisters are waiting on you and Rainbow."

Twilight felt her heart stop.

"What! When did we arrive at the station!?! I haven't even combed my mane!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luna stood looking at the docking station for the train. A majestic glow seemed to flow around her all but one detail. A frown had been on her ever since she had gotten there. She hated this place more than a jail cell. Memories flowed into her thoughts of when she had to escape through the tunnels with her parents and sister. Time could not suppress the lingering feeling she had put with this place.

"You know what? I always wondered how it would feel to be that moody."

Luna was ripped from the memories she so wanted to forget as she looked towards her sister.

"Oh, Tia can you come up with nothing better than a simple insult?"

A loud ringing came through the train tunnels signalling the enclosing train.

"Oh they're here."

Celestia's flowing pink mane was lifted by a shroud of magic. As it dissipated her mane flowed in a perpetual motion reflecting brilliant shades of melding colors. Luna smirked.

"I see we are wanting to look top notch."

"Say what you will, sister. I will look as a mature and majestic individual."

"Because that was so ma-"

"I also hear that Rainbow loves the flowing motion of the night sky."

Celestia quickly peeked over to her sister. Luna's short light blue mane was no longer visible through the seemingly floating mist which showed the brightest stars in its wake.

"She's married for all sakes Luna!"

"I- uhh I don't know what you're talking about. I just wanted to look...mature.....and majestic."

The train doors slowly opened, Rainbow flew out looking as happy as cloud on a sunny day. Behind her was a slow walking Twilight with a messed up mane. Blushing, she couldn't make eye contact with the princesses.

Luna leaned close to Celestia.

"Bet they were doing it."
