Sometimes we desperately want something to be true, so we refuse to believe it's a lie. Sometimes we tell ourselves everything is alright, even when it isn't. Sometimes a lot of people get very badly hurt because we aren't willing to face painful possibilities. Sometimes things really are that bad.

Sometimes.

Luna regresses, and Celestia must confront her worst fear. But something seems...off.

A short story originally conceived as the prologue to a series. The series has been put on hold, but I believe the story stands on its own fairly well.

I would love to hear the rest of this story

2485257 Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. There's a decent chance I'll continue it. I realized that the structure of the story needs to be more complicated than I originally thought. So I can't guarantee I'll have the time and energy to keep it going in the near future. We'll see -- I'd like to, but no promises.

It's a pretty nice short story. I enjoyed it. Celestia and Luna's reactions strike as plausible and believable. Ultimately, the story was a bit heartwarming.

Glad to hear it. One of the goals of the initially-conceived series was to tell the story of Luna's banishment in a way that didn't break character for either of them (yeah, I never said the idea was particularly original).

I do realize now that I wrote Luna's dialogue as way more informal and "modern" than it is in canon material, even post-"Luna Eclipsed". I'm not sure I can fix that without making it less effective, though. Of course, I could just Headcanon it and say that she's much less formal when speaking privately to Celestia.

As a side-note, I originally mistyped "Luna Eclipsed" as "Luna Eclopsed". I'm going to tell myself that wasn't a Freudian Slip.

Fweeeue
That was scary
Well done
