All Spike really wants is some sleep. Is that so much to ask?

It is two AM here, as I write this.
The first person who asks what my inspiration was for this gets a sign.
(Highlight for spoilers)
I envy you Spike T.T

Meh. My fic my skit.
Nice to have you LOL

It was now two-thirty AM. This was usually where Spike would give up with a blue streak of archaic Equestrian, and would go downstairs to listen to the soft muttering static radio and allow his mind to go down the ever-depressing chasm of deep thoughts about the life-spans of ponies and dragons and the concepts of immortality and magic, before falling into a fitful sleep on the couch.

This happens to me. Every. Single. Night.

Don't worry Spike, everyone has those times.

I've been there so many times. An enjoyable read, well told!

This is beautiful.

This is just excellent.

And I have never had this problem due to sporadic insomnia. And the fact that I tend to fall asleep in odd places because of it. Like rock concerts, don't ask how.

~Skeeter The Lurker

A very nice story.

The next morning...
There is a knock on the door. Spike answers it, feeling well rested.
:moustache: Hello?
:fluttershysad: Hi Spike. Twilight mentioned that a litter critter somewhere in the tree was making it hard for you to sleep. Sorry I haven't gotten here sooner, but it took me some time to find a good sot for the little guy to move to once he left. Are you alright?
:moustache: Uh...

Sorry, my mind does this sometimes.

Story of my life, yeesh. :ajsleepy:

Love it. Love it very much so. Poor Spike. All he wanted was some sleep, but that tiny field mouse wouldn't let him have it. Darn thing deserved what it got.

I hope you don't mind, but I prepared a reading of your fanfic as a practice of my voice acting. It was my first, so I apologize for not being great.

What do you think?

Thank yooou!
I'm honored!

I liked this. This reminds me of trying to sleep on vacations at my nana's house in the rural countryside with no AC and how at night, you'd hear every damn animal from coyotes to crickets.

Owls solved Spike's problem.

I saw this and I had to read it just because it needed one more like till 100. ^-^ Loved it

Well thank you for my 100th like then :3

This was so simple, but yet I can honestly say the simplicity was amazing. I can also consider this one of my favorite one-shots. I really like how you went into depth with the turmoil in Spike's mind because of the noise and the ending result was nice and unexpected, except for when you say the noise woke up Owli. I knew what would happen to the mouse them :moustache:

10 out of 10 for Slice of Life
10 out of 10 for grammar
10 out of 10 for overall story.
A like and a fave your way! :moustache:

Well, thank you very much for the kind review!
The star and like are well appreciated as well!

It was now two- thirty AM. This was usually where Spike would give up with a blue streak of archaic Equestrian, and would go downstairs to listen to the soft muttering static of the radio and allow his mind to go down the ever-depressing chasm of deep thoughts about the life-spans of ponies and dragons and the concepts of immortality and magic, before falling into a fitful sleep on the couch. It was depressing, tiring, and when it came down to it, not the least bit actually restful. All it really was accomplishing was a nice patch of discoloration on the one couch cushion where tears from nightmares and inevitabilities had stained it.

...well then...
