Googling 'Blueblood Alicorn', I found only two images of Prince Blueblood as an alicorn. There are more pictures of Shining Armor as an alicorn than Blueblood. Hopefully this story will change that. The good prince needs more love.
How is it that Gilda and Trixie, both of whom were objectively more malicious in their actions against the mane 6, each have enormous fanbases, but Bluey acts like a jerk towards some gold digging hanger-on and becomes the most universally scorned character on the show? Goddamn Sombra has more fans than he does! Discord is constantly shown as good, but Blueblood? Nope, evilevilevil because he doesn't want to be with some random mare who only wants him for the status he brings!
It's the same double standard as in shipping, but let's not get into that here.

I believe it has to do with the fact that both Gilda and Trixie were shown to be people. They had character on display, and they had wants and dreams of their own (Buddy time with Dash, the adoration of crowds).
But Blueblood, everypony's favorite prince, was more of a caricature than an actual character. First a caricature of Prince Charming, then a caricature of Prince Barmy.
Well, he's not evil here, nor is he cruel, misogynistic, or trolling. He is merely very, very full of himself. A bit short-sighted, perhaps.

Heh, I like Rarity, but... yeah, the Gala was NOT the best situation, and certainly the episode was not the best portrayal of Rarity, reversing her Season 1 development back to her goal in the third episode. Didn't like her in this, and if anything, I felt sorry for all the snobs.
