I was a little surprised myself given that the first recieved none haha. I was like "Is this really that much worse after one chapter?" I guess maybe the wings but it's revealed in the first she's an alicorn anyhow. Who knows. A couple folks seem to like Umbra, I get notes about it and stuff so it's enough to make me happy. XD

As far as the story, you're doing an excellent job of balancing both stories, and this one has been pretty good so far. I think the most interesting part will be the many acclimations to pony society Umbra is going to have to make during her travels. We already caught just a glimpse when they collided with Jen in your other story (I'm bad with names, title escapes me, like always). Plus, super curious as to how Luna plays out in all of this, in the other story she seemed to go white as a ghost.
And hey look, commenting instead of a PM for once! xD Might send you a PM after the next chap of the other story, I like keeping my idle speculation in them. : )

Yeah I'm eager to get to Umbra's perspective in the encounter but it's gonna be a few chapters haha. It's rough because at the same time I'm really excited to get to the end of Jen's second story, because the third one has some cool stuff coming up I think.

They're relationship is definitely complicated! It's definitely going to get more friendly but I haven't decided one way or the other about her seeing Luna as a mother.
Not am easy chapter to digest, but I suppose it gives a pretty accurate depiction of Umbra's life so far (and Tak, but he's awesome either way) - though it kind of seems like she resents her youth now?
I, for one, liked the dynamic between Umbra and her named Kin (and the unnamed ones, too) and hope that she doesn't refrain from visiting just because the Spiderkin aren't quite as over with their emotions as ponies :x
... But don't get me wrong, all of the happenings so far in Travels? Amazing! Can't wait for more

Not resent so much as realizing what she missed out on. She still loves her family back home but she's more angry at Luna than any of them. Even with good reasons she still basically abandoned her. :x
And her spidery family will have a role to play in future stuff, not to worry! :o

I'm liking the interactions between Jen, Echo, Trixie, Tak and Umbra these last two chapters. Kind of looking forward to seeing a scene with them and Luna sometime in the future, I think it'd be a nice thing to see.

The Lich will definitely be showing up in person very soon. The Doctor won't be around for awhile, I have another big villain who's about to make her debut. I've dropped more than a few hints about her over Settling In.
Your writing has slowed, but other than accidentally butchering 'Starswirl' inn some manner every time you say it (XD), it seems to have improved!

Haha stupid Starswhirl. The spell check ignores it every time so I miss it alot. And yeah my chapters here have gotten a bit longer. Over in my Settling In story following Jen/Jubilant they went from like 4k int he first party to 8-12k in the second part haha.

Holy cow haha, thanks a ton, something like that means a whole lot to me. I've been pretty pre-occupied writing Jennifer's story and I let Umbra fall behind alot which has been irking me. For some reason I've had a harder than normal time getting her chapters out.
I'm glad you think I've been improving. When I first started Babysitter and Umbral Shadows I hadn't written anything outside of campaign notes for DnD games in like a decade or so haha, so it's nice to hear someone thinks I've been improving over time.
I have some big stuff coming up for Umbra and co. in the next story, this one's about done. One maybe two more chapters to go.
Even if I hoped to see the time they spent with Dinky this is definitely a nice chapter

Thanks! Folk who read Galaxia's will get a lot more background on what's been going on in Equestria in Umbral Resistance. I'm planning on doing that one in year segments leading up to present day.
Sense you brought it up in the A.N., I wanted to comment now that (as far as I can tell) you're doing a pretty amazing job at keeping the stories related, but separate--I don't have to read the other to enjoy this one. Excellent, because the other story just doesn't interest me. I'm sure it's written well!--I just don't think I'd enjoy it...

Thanks. Yeah I'm trying to keep them separate while still intersecting here and there. I want my two main OC's interacting now and again but at the end of the day Jen's stories are Jen's, and Umbra's are Umbra's. Reading both would give a LITTLE more info here and there, but it in no way takes away from either story.
