OneTrickPon3

E

Sequel to "One Year to the Day" where you (Arthur Novella) have received Twilight Sparkle's letter. Having never really been on an actual date before, you now not only have to plan one but also make sure it's absolutely perfect. You being you means that you have absolutely no idea what to do. You are not alone however, as help comes in shapes both strange and familiar to you.

This is well worth a track. Glad to see that you're expanding on One Year to the Day!

You're username doesn't do you justice. You are hardly a one-trick pony

You ARE making a sequel. I'm really glad to hear. That first work was great!

Yep, although I don't think it will be as popular as my first one. Not many people really want to read a sequel to an obscure short story :fluttershysad:

I'll be following along and reading. More Twilight Sparkle is always good after all.

Ok sorry for the late update everyone. School is now in full swing so I haven't been able to write much on this story lately. I also got caught up in another project that will be uploaded sometime soon (hopefully). Anyways, I hope to have the last chapter of this uploaded by Hearts and Hooves Day. After all, what better way to spend the holiday of love than writing about a date rather than going on one? Forever Alone :fluttershysad:

Anyways, enjoy this while I follow Arthur's example and drown my worries in double shots of water :facehoof:

And as always, thanks for reading.

I feel ya buddy, school's tough.
One thing though: At the beginning, you say that Arthur doesn't know any of Twilight's friends, but Rarity knows him on a first name basis?

203787
Just because he doesn't know her friends doesn't mean they don't know him. Kind of like in real life you may know people that don't particularly know you. Same principal applies here. It might seem a little out of nowhere, but roll with me here.

204236 I hear that, I'm a loner at school but everyone seems to know me:twilightsheepish:

The fact that Octavia was sitting in the bar all day alone makes me concerned.

204559
To be fair, if you were in her horseshoes and dating Vinyl, wouldn't you feel the need to escape sometimes? :rainbowlaugh:

It is done. Although you guys really didn't make writing this easy. So many people tracking, I'm afraid I might have disappointed some of you with how this turned out. But thanks to those who followed me this far

Thank you all my lovely readers, believe it or not you keep me going on here. Stay tuned, I have several more works in the wings. Like, comment, enjoy.

Your faithful author,
OneTrickPon3

Edit: now with a 20% less abrupt ending!
Coming soon: epilogue with Octy, so stay tuned.

A brilliant story!

Can't wait to see your stories in the future.

I liked it, though with the buildup of the first two chapters I expected it to be a longer story...

Oh well, nice job none the less.

BRILLIANT! Maybe you should expand on the date, but then again, read the title. Epilogue with Octavia... Any cloppy jokes?:rainbowlaugh: Probably. You have talent. If you were to take the time you could write on EqD!

Thank you for your compliment, usually my work is met with trolling outside this site :facehoof:
I know the date ended kind of abrupt, and I really do apologize to fans of the story for it. I wanted to keep it short and sweet, but I realize that it was an odd spot to stop and hopefully I can think of something else to throw in there.
EqD though...a man can dream.

252297 Seriously. You have talent. Write other shit and send it in!

A good ending to a good story. It's been a pleasure reading this.

Kudos to you mister. You have made my day

I like this story and its prequel Honesty, realism, and miracles are all embedded in your stories and in "Pages." It was a pleasure reading this.

I half expect this little thing to have another sequel... but then that could get overly romantic unless you have a decent plotline aside from the romance too.

I would definitely qualify that as the best day ever. Definitely.

And I just had an idea for a sequel... or at least an adventure slant on a possible sequel. I'm a sucker for epics.

520949
Ha, nah I decided to stop after this one. No sense in beating a dead pony even more.
Or I could just destroy their relationship like the cold merciless person I am :flutterrage:

520993
Beating a dead horse? but this horse is very much alive! he just had his best day ever! Minus donuts...

Broken hearts are made to be mended, and what if Pages developed a kind of magical ability? Combine that with some villain and you've already got the foundation of a story.

And with Chrysalis now available... yep I could probably spawn you a quick story summary in one post just for the lols and hope. But then, if you are utterly, completely, irrevocably, permanently closed to the idea of a sequel...

521016
I closed off the idea of a sequel a while ago, but entertained the thought of just writing a collection of stories. Not an epic of romance, but say for instance Vinyl and Octavia's first winter wrap up in Ponyville, or my OC having to go to Cheerilee's career day because he was asked to. Just something to keep him alive. Who knows, maybe one day I'll do it.
And if you have a story idea and want to use my character, feel free, I would actually be flattered.

521048 Eh... mine IS epic though... but sure I'll toss it at you.

So Twi and Pages have been a very loose item for a while now, but not super serious. This is because Twi has her studies of friendship, and Pages has his stories, which he has taken to giving the first copy as a gift to Twi when he finishes them. However, for the time being he has been exceptionally busy writing them, often making forays into Everfree to find inspiration for adventure texts.

Little does he know that he has been watched... by an old enemy.
Chysalis, back but now seeking primarily to get revenge on Twilight (she'd have preferred Twilight's brother and sister in law, but how better to hurt them than by striking at their weak point first, on top of that twi's the reason she failed in the first place) uses her disguises to thrash the relationship between twi and pages with both of them not realizing what is really going on. This is doubly enjoyable because she is using octavia and vinyl as food sources for the time being, since she needs to feed on love. So, when Pages tries to make things better between himself and Twilight, Chrysalis intercepts and kidnaps her as him, framing him in to the rest of the town and hurting twi before leaving her in everfree.

She returns, and she is madder than Celestia above at him. Result is both of them with a broken heart, Pages practically an emotional wreck and not understanding what's going on, and ponyville condemning him... so he starts writing, then heads into everfree to be alone.

At this point, Chrysalis could kidnap twilight, requiring pages to go rescue her,
or
...confront her in the library and move to do something terrible for revenge only to have pages show up and discover his innate magical power, which is not earth pony endurance or growth inspiration like applejack but the ability to either magically manipulate information, materialize things from literature (kind of like the abilities of silver tongues from Inkheart) or simply inkbend.
or
Chrysalis could kidnap Pages instead, and when Twi or one of the other mane 6 goes to speak with him again (to give him another chance, chew him out more, or simply to apologize for their actions) they find the story and realize something's wrong, then they find vinyl and octavia locked away, and realize that chrysalis was behind it all so they go to get him back, and in the process Pages can get magic (though it's optional)

in addition, possible side-plots include bringing out the good in chrysalis with revelations and/or love,
Pages developing pseudo-unicorn magical talent of some kind (as if I didn't hammer that one enough...),
side stories dealing with the reactions of the various others to the events,
or even something on a much bigger scale, like a reshaping of magic on the fundamental level... though that's probably a bit much.

Other ideas are myriad.

You know what, you should write this. I'll support it 100% and would enjoy being a pre reader for you.
Also, I envy that you're both getting to write and have someone eager to preread for you, even though it is me :rainbowwild:
I can't write right now because of finals, and every one of my stories has been one draft and published without anyone pre reading :twilightoops:

521306 Eh... I don't know if I should, I mean it's your character after all...

Plus I have college work too, and job hunting. I could at least start on it though.

At the very least, I owe you a thank you for being willing to preread for me... really though, you should get a taste of my albeit terrible and rust-encrusted style first.
Here, take a look. It's STH fanfiction, so I understand if that deters you... and it's not finished either, but still, it's a decent sample of my style... even if I don't trust myself with romance. I'd suggest reading more than the first chapter too. It starts a bit slow.

521361
Yeah I hear you with the college and work thing. And if you want to talk about a terrible writing style, take a look at everything I've written :pinkiecrazy:

521429 I'd say it's better than mine. Tell me after you've read those chapters of lunacy.

521429 Oh, and even if I did try to write a story... I'd need to know which of those three routes you preferred the most, or if you want to propose a different route.
