Felt like walking into a brick wall..... in a good way, despite the fact of how sad it was.
Maybe it's the twist ending combined with the fact that there are books involved, but this inexplicably makes me think of the one episode of the Twilight Zone--"All the Time in the World" or something like that.
Also, I'm depressed now and I hate that you wrote it so well I can't just dismiss it as terrible fanon.
