Two months have passed since the Alicorn Amulet incident. While struggling to get her magic act afloat again, Trixie finds herself filling in behind a bar in Manehattan, to work off a rented room upstairs. That night, just before closing time, she encounters journalist and adventure novelist Ember Roundup, who reveals that she has been trying to track her down for over a year, since the death of her best friend and writing partner - Trixie's cousin Gusty - as it seems Ember has a significant debt to repay...

Inspired by the Daring Do pages at TV Tropes - credit for the relevant OCs goes to Zarbi Nerada, Clato Lawa (AKA me) and Peteman.

Credit for the premise of Daring Do and the Amber of the Smooze goes to Jenny Nicholson and Griffin Lewis, for Friendship is Witchcraft

Credit for the premise of Daring Do and the Ruby of the Blank VIllage goes to Donitz, for Story of the Blanks.

Credit for the name Checker Monarch goes to Shadow Raikou and Godzillawolf, for Trixie's Gettin' Back On Her Hooves.

Good work man. I like the idea, well written... I think I'll follow this just to see where it goes.

This looks like it'll be fun!:pinkiehappy:

Thanks Link, and I hope this will be of use if you do end up using Ember in your's.

In spite of the "Sad" tag? :ajbemused: That said, I do have a potentially amusing cliffhanger to the third chapter planned.

Awesome!

BTW, Peteman here. This is going to be fun.

To be fair, I think Prism Rush probably has the least amount of character depth,

Though that may be because he's so desperately trying to keep anyone from finding out he has any.

So, how's Trixie going to respond when she finds out that Ember Roundup revealed that she was Princess Sparkler's inspiration in a Gabby Gums article?

It might very well have been in the article "The Secrets of the Great And Powerful Trixie".

These are good! :pinkiehappy: Keep 'em coming dude.

Believe it or not, I had not seen the edited version of this comment when I went to edit the Daring Do Trivia page on this exact subject a couple of hours ago. For that reason, I'd like to advise against editing comments more than a few minutes old in future.

I'm still unsure how I plan to work in that Gabby Gums article or just what it contained, though given the sudden presence of two Ponyville residents, it shouldn't be too difficult.

I'd like to suggest that you also credit the Story of the Blanks people and the Friendship is Witchcraft people, since they also served as major inspirations for these EU works.

Thanks for pointing that out, though I'm not actually too familiar with Friendship is WItchcraft, so I'm not sure how explicitly the story has referenced it yet. Will check it out shortly. I'm also not sure how much detail I plan to go into with the story of Ruby of the Blank VIllage, though it's undoubtedly going to be cause for drama, so I'll make mention of it now.

Also, I'm mildly disappointed that you're bringing up this subject yet you haven't noticed a shared name with Trixie's Gettin' Back On Her Hooves.

You mean Checker?

I was wondering if she married into the Monarch family.

:rainbowlaugh: I haven't ruled it out, though given that she's explicitly not the sociopath that her namesake was, I can really only take that reference so far.

And after looking over the YMMV/FriendshipIsWitchcraft page, yeah, I gotta acknowledge that one.

The way I've been working the Friendship Is Witchcraft stuff is by playing it really seriously.

The humour is the juxtaposition. It's like watching Christopher Lee giving his all, playing Cats from Zero Wing, aka the All Your Base Are Belong To Us guy, without changing the dialog.

Perhaps Trixie should consider paying some of those royalties as reparations to Ponyville and Snips and Snails specifically.

Part of me wishes that she did. If only because I could make jokes about how her husband is a butterfly-obsessed supervillain.

Conflict!:fluttershbad:

Please continue.:pinkiehappy:

This seems interesting! Have a thumbs up! I'll have to continue reading this later; I have to go to class now. :twilightblush:

Well, Trixie now has to research Platinum's family in addition to everything else. I wonder where that'll lead.

I'll be honest, the story is progressing a little slowly.

Yeah, I'm trying to work on that. If it helps, I did just manage to cover over 7 hours in one chapter. And the marathon isn't going to last more than two.

If Trixie reads some of Greyhoof's backstory, I can see her empathizing with him, given they both did horrible things, but they did so while persevering through severe unpleasantness.

John Barrowmane?
You get an instant like for that, even if I hadn't planned on it already.

I take no credit for that one, but thanks.

I would think the Cutie Mark Crusaders would be pre-pubescent. I actually favour my personally-coined "pre-Cutiescent".

3661349 I looked it up and, yeah, that word did not mean quite what I thought it meant.:twilightblush: Fixed, based on your suggestion.
