2030821 Well, I wrote Rainbow's Letter almost a week ago, but only got around to editing and posting it last night before I went to bed. Then I was lying in bed reading and I came across a line that more or less became the tile and idea behind this story,. So I wrote this I woke up around 6ish my time, so about 4 and a half hours ago.
Anyway, I'm rambling now. Long story short, I'm glad you liked this. It ended up a lot longer than I thought it would.
It was a little too short, I think a lot more could've been added in details and the buildup from their past, but what we have here is definitely solid. So tragic and sad...
But ultimately, it's beautiful in the sense that they are indeed free now. Death is terrifying and can't be reasoned with, it's no doubt that Fluttershy must feel that. Then it's come to be a liberation, an escape, being given exactly what the haters are trying to prevent. If anything, the haters are now sending them into eternal love and paradise together. 
Sweet, sweet irony.
Having murder as the only answer is one of the most despicable attitudes I have ever seen in my life. And here, it comes to be that it's their salvation, which was a sweet turn. Tragic as it was, it became what they always wanted. The chance to be together.

It's well written and all, but I just can't reconcile it with my view of Equestria, even when I try. (And I can see Fallout Equestria happening)

3682268 They were different because they liked each other, ponies of the same gender. This story takes place in a verse far from the fandom, where Equestria is a very homophobic place. Hence, when they came out, they were viewed as sinners and were thus turned against.

Great story n all..... but I'm not gonna lie, I thought the reason for execution was for heavier crimes (I.e fire, destruction or flat out killed a few ponies)

Honestly, I wish that was true. It depends on where you live. According to this article, there are at least 9 countries that they will kill you just for being gay and more that will kill you for having sexual intercourse with someone of the same sex. Even more where it will land you jail time and/or beatings.
That is the real world, though, and this story is in Equestria. We have no way to know what their laws are and at the time of writing this, I wanted it to be very anti-gay.
I do understand the confusion and think that what both you and 5879794 have said have some merit. I will add and Alt Uni tag. Hope this clears things up for both of you.
