One by one, Pinkie's friends move away to achieve their dreams in life. Pinkie figures they're doing this as a sign of betrayal, and begins to face a downward descent into depression. Can she stop her friends from leaving? Will she be able to stop her depression? Or will she go down the wrong path at the bottom, and do something she may regret?

Make sure you comment/rate, it'll mean a lot for me!<3

Excellent fic, even if it is morbidly sad. :pinkiesad2:

You've managed to illustrate Pinkie's downfall into darkness in such a way that it is believable, but I do think that every single one of her friends leaving one after the other like that is a bit sketchy. Nice job with the Fluttershy idea though. Her leaving with Zecora in order to learn about animals was brilliant. A thought just occurred to me though... who was watching Fluttershy's animals/house while she was gone? I bet Pinkie could have done it. Of course she might have also went on a homicidal bunny killing rampage... Hmmm... :pinkiecrazy:

Overall, good stuff. Keep it up!

...I helped come up with the idea about Fluttershy, since Carmine got stuck on that part. Otherwise I only helped down to the loss of Applejack. I'm too lazy to read what Carmine and the rest of his editors did with the rest.

    Sad fanfic is... Sad...

I nearly cried at the end of it, which is unusual because I'm 100% manly... Even drawing the image for this was kinda depressing too :(

This is absolutely captivating. Life pulls us in different directions as time drags on, and even if friends are separated by circumstance, sometimes they remain close, and other times they don't. What I really love is that you've shown that none of the ponies are "bad guys" here -- everypony had legitimate reasons for being as busy as they were and not always able to send letters. Of course, the chronic, increasing isolation gradually distorted Pinkie's views of them all, and her chillingly tragic spiral into despair as a result is all too real. You've put plenty of thought, consideration, and effort into this story, and it shows flawlessly. You've captured nostalgia and melancholy in such a haunting way that is easy for people to relate to. Congratulations on such a terrific story! It was quite depressing, but, obviously, that was the intention. :fluttercry:

Wow, this was soul-crushingly sad. Having lost friends from living on the road for the vast majority of my life, and nearly loosing someone due to drug abuse, this really hit a cord with me. Five-stared.

I would probably cried if not for a few things. 1. I can't really cry. 2. My brother was listening to Pearl Jam in the other room, and it was a song I don't really care for.

What I will say about the story was that I loved it. The chapters flowed together very well.

I mean wow, that was depressing, even more so than My Little Dashie. I never felt this sad since watching Artificial Intelligence.

Awesome writing, almost wish this was another of Pinkie's dreams (Inception style) and finally wakes to try and better herself.

Easily a 5 star. Congrats on the feature

Well done. The first of the top rated stories I've read that I felt deserved the spot. And honestly you shouldn't add anything else to this. The story is perfect as is, don't cheapen it with a sequel of any sort. At least that's my humble opinion.

I give this story a 4. It was written quite well, except a few errors, also with a few run on sentences thrown in every once in a while. It was an entertaining read, but it was obvious what was going to happen up to the point where Rarity left. I wasn't sure what Pinkie was going to do after all her friends were gone, and it was a little surprising. Though her ascend to insanity and her disregard for her friends made me care a little less about her death. I could kind of tell she was going to die anyways. Good story though.

Wouldn't the elements need to be grouped together to keep equestria safe? surely the bearers of the greatest magical artifacts in equestrian history

Would stay together for the sake of their homeland, or at least keep in touch and keep their friendships alive.

I just dosen't seem logical for the elements to break away from each other like that. Wheres the explanation?

Very well writen.  And sad!  Poor Pinkie!

This story actually gives me pause, because I can see something like this actually happening.  It's unreasonable to assume that the Mane 6 will stay together in Ponyville forever.  Twilight would certainly return to Canterlot at some point, and Rarity would have to move to a bigger city if she were ever to persue her dream.  What a depressing idea!  :pinkiesad2::fluttercry::raritydespair:

5 stars. Favorite. All of them.

...Damn it, I should stop reading sadfics. Even if they may be incredibly amazing (like this one), they always make me go on sadness overload.

I liked it. But it ended to abruptly. It's like riding your bike down a steep hill. You're going and going and it's all good. Then outa nowhere a steel wall shoots up from the ground and SMASH!!!! Stopped right in your tracks. That was the only problem. I give you a solid 4/5 great job

NOOOO! oh god I cried the whole time reading this. :fluttercry: The second paragraph got me choked up and it got worse until I was bawling at the end.:raritycry: This is a true masterpiece, I haven't cried this much in a long time. When nurse redheart told her too many antidepressants could be fatal I nearly screamed "don't tell a depressed person how to kill themselves and give them the means to do so ! Especially pinkamena!" you should be proud. This is a true work of art and though I hate sad stories since they kill my mood and leave me sad all day, I'm glad I read this because it's so beautifully written and realistic. Five stars for sure.:pinkiesad2:

You see that Tragedy tag? It did nothing to prepare me. Even though I knew she was probably going to die, as I read more and more, I kept hoping that maybe, just maybe, Pinkie would make it. Alas, my wishes did not come true. Non the less, this definately on par with sadfics such as "Forever is Forever."  You do an amazing job with Pinkie's slow descent. Instead instantly going insane, we can can see here gradually lose a bit of her sanity as each friend leaves. It tears at my heart seeing her views of her old friends become more and more twisted. It really does tug at the emotions.

Personally, I would have liked to see more of her friends reactions (funeral, etc.), but sometimes, cutting it off where you did is fitting. I also love the twist of Rarity of all ponies being the last to leave. That, my friend, is irony at its best. However, I am wondering the same thing as soulwinds. If they were coming to town, shouldn't Pinke have been informed beforehand? I mean, has it just been that long since Pinkie died, or did her breakdown keep her from noticing? While I'm also wondering why Twilight stopped sending letters without warning Pinkie in some form, I'm pretty sure that can be chalked up to being too busy. Still, that's my only complaint, and it really is something minor, at best.

Overall, AMAZING job! This one is definately going under my favourites. I'm honored by the meer fact that my story is in the "similar stories" section. Seriously, this is easily one of the best sad pony fics there is.

    >>151795 If there was a letter from Twilight, after she erased her from her life(punching a hole where her head should be), she wouldn't have cared to receive it. Now, as for Twilight not writing letters, that's just being used as the initial stressor for Pinkie, having one of her friends just suddenly abandon her. Anyway, hope this clears things up, and thanks for the compliments!

    Lessee, to comment...

I liked this, it was very good for a new writer. Very few technical issues – grammar, spelling, formatting – and bravo for tackling such a taboo topic.

As for negatives, I'm not quite sure if there's a term for it, but would say that the "reader level" is rather low. "Reader level" is used to describe the educational level of the target audience, and this reads like it was written for a very young age group, i.e., pre-junior high. In other words, it had little depth, character motivations and drives were largely glossed over and taken for granted, and the terminology was very stark and flat, which leaves little for the imagination or to draw the reader into the story. This is often the hardest aspect of writing to develop, so don't be discouraged. This was still leaps and bounds above the majority of fanfics.

I haven't been crying for years while reading... However now, manly tears were shed! I was hoping she would jump off cliff and you would end with cliffhanger making it possible to write happy fan follow up. Now the only way to do it would be to ressurect the dead...

I think you need to write a follow up fic where Pinkie's ghost haunts them. I mean, rest of Mane 6 aren't

Really going to blame themselves since Pinkie seemed happy while dead... And that's unfair!

    >>152181 If it makes you feel better, Pinkie jumping off the cliff was one of the endings I was planning on doing initially, so she can be in the embrace of the only thing that listened to her when her friends wouldn't, for the last few moments of her life. But I opted that out for the written ending, which had a more... realistic and touching approach. I'm pretty sure there MAY be fan alt.endings, and I promote them, but I doubt that'll happen.
