Twilight receives a letter out of the blue that reveals a secret she's been keeping from her friends, a letter that conveys the condolences of a family friend. What hidden meaning does it carry, and how will Twilight deal with the responsibility that comes with it?
After Twilight's grim duty is completed, the mane 6 travel out of the country on a diplomatic mission to the Griffon territories and find trouble on the way.

My guess is that they themselves weren't high enough up on the the list of importance to have ever met her or her family. Jet Set and Upper Crust smacked of either lower rung nobility or simply being rich as did a lot of their friends.

Hmm... I agree with some of Twilight's points, but how does this relate to the story as a whole?
Queue direly-needed snow-white wing-hug, and promises to make everything better. Because every good teacher feels a bit like a parent, and one that has spent years as a mentor even moreso. Abandonment at this point is neither the right move nor one that Celestia could possibly make.
Yea...with how Celestia runs things, all life on Equestria(w/e world they live on) must be seriously laid back to not suddenly attack a nation whose leader sends a task force of 6 young mares to take on evil while she reads her porn/comics/novels. Or how there hasn't been a revolution, dood.
Celestia makes her student and her friends take on evils that SHE should be dealing with. Luna is a hit-or-miss, completely oblivious to the changling invasion yet she helps a chicken over come her fears.
Only two things Celestia has done to assist the Mane6
- Remind Twilight about the values of friendship during Discord's second episode (S2 E2)
- Combat Chrysalis (I'm going to cut her some slack her despite getting owned because Chrysalis was feeding off Shining Armor for what I assume to be weeks to months.
As for Twilight's parents:
- No voice actors
- Seen twice in total (S1 E23 and S2 E26; both as background ponies)
- No one is sure if the wiki name "Night Light" is his real name, and "Twilight Velvet" is a name given to her through the toys
- For THAT matter...the only Mane6 parents that actually do ANYTHING other than give birth to them is Pinkie's folks and Rarity's folks. (not counting Granny Smith since she didn't give birth to Applejack directly.
I think we need to see a Season 0 or Season Prequel to see if Twi's Parents and Celestia really did do a decent job of raising Twilight/Shining Armor or if it was luck that Twilight is pretty much Superman of the Mane6 and Shining Armor is married to the only Princess that actually does stuff to protect the land, and probably the only royal guard that doesn't stand still and pretend to guard.

So Twilight is basically suffering from the 2nd child syndrome...where the parents will build up the 1st born and any that are born after is only 2nd rate, no matter what they do. Hell that would explain why Twilight is so damn paranoid...

I love how completely neurotic Luna seems. It’s fair judgement though considering Twilight’s reactions to the simplest things going wrong but hot damn. They went wild. HAHAHAHAHA It’s entertaining enough though. Pretty sad this was cancelled. It seemed like an interesting plot, I mean so far it seems like she’s got pretty much half of Equestria under her name should she be the only one left alive!
