Thanks so much for the support so far guys, I was expecting maybe one or two people/ponies to comment (maybe not even vote) and already that's been blown out of the water with three people/ponies.

I'd go with the first option. Sure, there might be something else downstream that could be good, but it could be bad as well. And scaring the daylights out of the first thing you've seen, other than that thing in the forest, might not be the best idea.

Sit and wait for them to come out. Maybe then you can explain that Apple Bloom was telling the truth, or at least, the lie you told her. Oh, and good job so far! I actually wanted to write a story like this before, but I couldn't really think of a way to start.
