New! Part 3: After Twilight notices Applejack becoming increasingly obsessed with the game, she tasks Pinkie Pie (of all ponies) to keep an eye on her. The two head out into Ponyville in search of adventure and the perfect game.

Part 1: Twilight has finally convinced Applejack to join her other friends in Spike's weekly D&D game. However, will she be able to figure out the rules before they all drive Spike crazy?

Part 2: Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle have stumbled across Twilight's D&D books, and convinced her to take up the dice once more. But will anypony meet their high standards to be their Dungeon Master? More importantly, what will happen when you-know-who finds out?

Fantastic. I really enjoyed it, being a D&D player myself. Well done; 5 stars!

This is amazing!

That is exactly the way I would expect Rainbow Dash to DM a campaign. I lol'd so much at the scene with the PCs surrounded by the armies of monsters.

Best fanfic ever!

Pinkies was the best.

Oh. My. Celestia.

DERPY.

F. T. W.

That was indeed something grand. I felt myself compelled to read and laugh and even a couple of giggles here and there. Amazing job, 5 Stars all the way.

Oh man. I loved this.
I lol'd at the final part. xD

wow, reminds me of when i used to play D'nD with my friends a few years back. probably why i liked this so much, makes me want to uncover my old books and pull out the D20 again. awesome story.

Epic. Truly, truly epic.

And finished! Well played sir, well played.

Oh dear me. Derpy foreshadowing.
Well done. Five stars indeed; verily, David Stormstriker the Honourable approves of this fic.

Dash is having way too much fun DMing.
I want a sword-axe-tar now.

Well done. As an amateur player myself (Level 3 Necromancer) I got the whole thing and the struggle of a good DM.
Well done indeed. Terrific.
Story 3, perhaps? :applejackunsure:

I love you so much, Author

Thanks to this Story my DM let me use a Sword-axe-tar in a One shot he was running as a joke for us.

Best chapter of anything ever.

Now this, this is interesting; not only is the mail mare a genius DM, she's got a past that would make a rather interesting side story.

I never even played D&D but I still got quite a few laughs, I can imagine Rainbow Dash's character with dragon guts behind him telling a witty one-liner while putting his shades on. Pure genius.

as a DM of a small number of 4th Ed DnD sessions, I would like to congratulate Twilight on her humility in bowing to Spike in this matter. DM'ing is hard. Lotta fun but twice as much work as just playing.
:moustache:

Having said that, I heartily encourage anypony interested to give it a try. There are even published adventures that provide full backstory and stage props.
:facehoof:

Excellent story idea and well executed, btw. Carry on.

This story is pure genius.
I hope that there will be a sequel for this fanfic :rainbowkiss:

This fanfiction helped me discover Dungeons and Dragons online. I love you forever.

It has permanently changed the way I view D&D as a whole, and especially has changed the way I see RPers. I can now see that the world of RPing is a vast and adventurous JOURNEY of fun to be had no matter where you play at; as long as you have good enough friends. Really, this fanfiction has changed me in a way that no other fanfiction has ever changed me before. 5/5 and favorited 4 times over!

Wow, that may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about one of my stories, thank you! (though the guy who used a sword-axe-tar in one of his campaigns is up there too :raritywink:)

I guess this is as good a time as any to say that I am planning one, possibly two more parts in this series, both at least the length of part two. I can't say exactly when they'll be done, as they're only at the rough outline stage, but I never give up on a story once I start it, so they WILL be done.

Naturally, I'll be adding the chapters here as well as on EQD and my DA account (http://lucre5.deviantart.com/). Go ahead and nag me about it in the comments, it'll keep me focused.

Thanks again to everyone who enjoyed the story, you guys are awesome. :rainbowdetermined2:

AT LAST! OH, I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS! :pinkiecrazy:

Awesome! Looking forward to more! :pinkiehappy:

The nihilistic cloud of depression that's been plaguing me all day has now been dispersed. Thank you for that.

“One does not simply walk to the post office.”:derpyderp2:

:derpyderp1:+D&D=:yay:
Only she could make delivering a message that awesome.

“I’d like to be a Treant.”...I see what you did there.

Anyway really looking forward to more D&D ponies.

I find it funny that Applejack is becoming so fond of a game involving so much "fancy mathematics."

I was hesitant to try this, but I howled all the way through it! Great story man! :rainbowlaugh:

The quest to save Applejack's marbles?
Oh, I am SO in there!

Loving the story so far, also great idea with derpy getting reality and fantasy screwed up. :derpyderp1:

kaijin enjoys the thought of this.
reminds me of when i was in 9th grade and jesus lizard invited me and our other friends to play D&D. i had a tri breed (human, elf, and white dragon) ranger that was the beginning of who i am today. if it werent for D&D, i wouldnt be kaijinzero today. or i may not have been introduced to ponies. either way, it reminds me of that fun game.

Yay ^_^
This story gave me so much nostalgia, and I love the way you mix two awesome things together ^_^

Oh dear, this could get ugly

Okay, I laughed at that way more than I should have. Well done. :rainbowlaugh:
*goes back to writing*

the "secret but fun" part made me lol!

The internet loves you!

I love this.

as a hardcore RPer and frequent GM, I can tell you that this is great.

takes me back to the first game I GMed...

It was al fun and shenanigans then. it was based on Warhammer 40k minis coming to life. No, really.

The dragon is the DM? This has reached nerd critical mass, exploded. Exploded again :pinkiegasp: And became completely AWESOME!
