While various factions struggle for power and survival in the southern Equestrian Wasteland, a scavenger by the name of Coyote just wants to earn a living and mind his own business. But in his quest for caps and survival, he'll have to deal with manipulative mares, deranged killers, flirty Changelings, remorseless criminals, pony-eating monsters, struggles for power, and all sorts of other dangerous, exciting, and sometimes zany situations.

Coyote will have to tread carefully, keep his wits about him, and rely on his friends if he wishes to earn a place to call home, rather than an unmarked grave in the unforgiving Deadlands.

War never changes? Hell yes to that, tumbleweed. Shame, too, but what are you going to do?

1862399>>1862744 Soooo, are you guys saying my fic is a trainwreck that makes people want to shoot themselves, or are you just spamming up my story's comments section? I'm pretty sure it's the latter. Could you please stop? :twilightsheepish:

1862788 Naw i'm just saying how there's a load of FO: E fanfics out there, like seriously, HUNDREDS. The pic and comment were describing the basis of most in general, not your story in particular.

Hmm. Down-on-her-luck caravaneer named Rose who likes Whiskey, has a Tribal mother, an alcohol-related father, and has red hair. Where have I heard that before? :derpytongue2:

More seriously, it's a FO:E fic by Lycan, so onto the Watchlist it goes!

Really loving this so far and I'm excited to see where it goes!

But yeah, your description could use a bit of jazzing up - I almost certainly wouldn't have checked the story out if I wasn't already watching you.
Try and get some intrigue about the plot and characters in there, setting alone isn't gonna tell people if they'll like the story or not.

1863897 I regret nothing. :derpytongue2:

1865095 Hope ya enjoy it.

1866156 Thanks, glad you like it. And yeah, you do have a point. *edits descriptions* There, that should help make things sound a bit more interesting and appealing. :rainbowdetermined2:

This is Fallout New Vegas ponified and focusing on a different main.

...Now I'm thinking a cross of Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

That companion... What a :twistnerd:!
That's gotta be the best way of dealing with a rogue robot I've ever seen!:rainbowlaugh:

1863897 It sounds familiar, don't it?:trollestia:

1868861>>1869976 Not quite. It's set in the Equestrian equivalent of the New Vegas setting, but the plot doesn't follow the main storyline of New Vegas. If there is a Courier in this story, they won't be directly involved with Coyote. Rather, the focus of this story is just on Coyote, the random bunch of weirdos he winds up traveling with, and the crazy misadventures he manages to get roped into. There will be ample references to FO3 and FO:NV, and maybe a side-quest or two borrowed from those games, but no, this fic isn't just the Equestrianized version of New Vegas or FO3. I'm a wee bit more original than that. :rainbowlaugh:

1873630well, i was thinking a mix because you can't find officers swords in New Vegas.

Interesting story. Bit episodic but if done well I like it. Seems a tad...dead though. Which is a bit of problem with FOE fics. You gotta really really pump out a lot chapters in the beginning, else even if you make a comeback you're going to have less recognition. Glad to see you're probably making a comeback and I hope to read some more.

Characters mesh really well. Dialogue is fun. The one thing I seem to take issue is that, as of late, there is quite literally no explanation or world building about the titular 'Deadlands'. It seems just like any other ole place in the Wasteland. Which isn't exactly wrong, but the obligatory "War. War never changes" chapter seemed to set up the fact that this place is different. And sans the giant sandworm I did not notice much if anything.

Still, I like it and that's all I can really say.

I almost feel bad for those Raiders

IT LIVES!:rainbowderp:

I'm guessing that Thing isn't a changeling. More like... well, a Thing. Or The Thing.

4387375 Having played a free-form roleplaying Fallout Equestria game with the author as GM, I think it was what happens when a Changeling says hi to a few barrels of Taint and a dose of radiation. So it was a Changeling, but isn't any more.

Also, I'm enjoying this story.
