Cloudhammer

I never make mistakes. I thought I'd made one once, but I was wrong.

T

In the aftermath of the St Louis Massacre, suspicions were raised about the involvement of the griffons. However, Scythion has closed off all contact with Equestria. So, a small team is chosen to infiltrate the frozen north, and see what secrets lie buried beneath the snow. But hidden from the rest of the world are schemes with far-reaching implications, and it's up to the Wild Cards to make tough choices that may impact the fate of an entire nation.

This has been a *very* long-awaited story. So glad it's finally going up :pinkiehappy:

Oh lordy Cloudhammer delivered. Tis really the end of the world.

Edit: Let my friend here tell you how its going to be.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be nothing less than epic.

And thus, it is released, my long-awaited Canid Conversion Dream. When I sat down and wrote this scene, I had the choice to make of whether there would be Celestia or Luna meeting him as some Canid analogue, or something else. I scoured the other TCB fics that have alternate Conversions, and decided that I'd go with something new. Something that to my knowledge hasn't been done in any other TCB universe. I hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. Many thanks to Rust for his help with the source material I used to get in the mindset

I want to see what happens when he finds a pigs ear.

Aww hell yeah. Been looking forward to the next mainline Cloudyverse story.

Well that was a different conversion experience. Interesting.

Ha. Missed a perfect "And I thought they smelled bad on the OUTSIDE." Moment.

Nothing is wrong with him, he's a predator.

This chapter otherwise entitled "five guys go up a mountain then come down again"

Hush you, they had to go there anyway, and it may be boring, but surprise surprise, my idea of an adventure story isn't a jump from plot point to plot point, it includes some of the boring crap because it makes it feel more real to me :rainbowwild: Stick around for next chapter, it gets more lively.

Got a bit of a Mesa Verde feel from the mountain village.

I think I'm going to guess that what's going on is a group of gryphons are being local warlords based on weapon concepts brought over the world convergence. It can't be actual modern weapons, however, given the described lead balls.

Doesn't quite match up with the weapons I seem to remember the gryphons in the St. Louis massacre using, so I'm not fully certain.

Interesting use of dominant/submissive behavior for the diamond dogs. Am I correct in identifying these three as the three from the show?

2121514
You would be. I'd originally come up with three OC diamond dogs, and decided to include these three instead since they needed some love :rainbowlaugh:

Ok then.

This looks like fun.

~Skeeter The Lurker

Curious... So that's how conversion works.

Pretty simple, really.

~Skeeter The Lurker

Whooo. Rangal's got nice offer.

He also seems to be adapting to his life quite well.

~Skeeter The Lurker

Heh... Card suites as code names. Nice.

And Rangal codenamed Joker. Smooth.

~Skeeter The Lurker

Goddamn. That was impressive.

Rangal's IS a badass.

~Skeeter The Lurker

Bloodeye is the key. He knows more than he let on.

And now he's gone... This is getting good.

~Skeeter The Lurker

Oh snap. Rangal is truly coming into his own with his new form.

Beautiful.

~Skeeter The Lurker

So... Yapper is a heavy hitter?

Not bad. Seems enough to give Bloodeye pause.

If this scenario of giving up humanity was real

Makes you wonder just many people would actually go for the Canification serum :derpytongue2:

I'll stick with being a pony though :moustache::moustache::moustache:

We need one of these from an earth pony perspective...

I like your take on the Diamond Dog intrinsic magic though.

Pony and Diamond Dog slaves, perhaps?

Rangal's right. If it was ponies the cards stumbled across, the reactions would have been different. I can understand were they are coming from though. Still, Diamond Dogs are people too.

3647026 The dogs have more aggression to them, which would appeal to those people who grip about being push overs, but they also have a stronger instinct submission in them too.

But then again, they have fingers... Magic hooves are cool and all, but fingers...

5472898

Good for them. But, since I'm a pony lover I rather have hooves.

5472920 Yeah, I'd rather go pony too. Eating gems isn't really something I'd look forward to either. Pros and cons. Besides; ponies are technically omnivores, not straight herbivores. You can acclimatize your system to a bit of animal protein if you go for the meat argument.

5472934

Very interesting and I didn't really think they would actually eat them :derpyderp2: just collect them.

5472960 They are like dragons. They collect gems because they are pretty and tasty. Probably age them to perfection too.

I still think gems in Equestria are like earth berries or seeds and something. No other way to support that many gem eaters...

5473024 Possibly related.

Delicious Crystal Hearts. Part of a healthy breakfast.

Hoo wow, when I threw this fic in my tracker list as a 'just in case' I never really expected another update, even if it was mostly a revision. Glad to know it's still being worked on! Doubly so because your Conversion Bureau universe is, to me, still the best Conversion Bureau universe out there.

I'm with Rangel on this one. That pack needs that little bit of hope knowing other packs are around.

Considering Sirius shows up for the dog conversion dream, maybe he might start being a little more active on the physical plane.

YEA
HIATUS IS GONE
IT CONTINUES

Yeah, Rangel has the right of it I'd say. "We need to clear with command" is nice, but they're not in a situation where they can contact command and the two parties really, really can't afford to play 'guess the truth' over and over.

That said, one does wonder what the Gryphons are planning. If they're armed to the teeth with earth weaponry and looking for a bloodbath, Equestria either needs to start beefing up their magical counterparts stat (how far can enchanted armour be pushed?) or they're in trouble.

I smell a very bad plan in the works ^^'

Wait, what was the St Louis Massacre? Is this a sequel or something?

9077281
Yeah, it follows after the story TCB: The ST Louis Massacre

The other rapped his compatriot on the shoulder. “Guarding these supplies is crucial. You remember when one of those mongrels breached a grenade? The deep worms love the smell, and can smell it for miles. You want to explain to Iron Talons why some of his precious human weapons found their way down a worm’s gullet? The most merciful fate you could expect would be getting sent after them.”

Sidequest unlocked: Sabotage grenades to lure deep worms.

Glad to see this story is still kicking, I've been on a TCB binge lately and still enjoy your world the most out of all TCB stories out there.

Thank you for the kind words! Always as happy to see people still coming back to read/comment on my stuff as I am to see new people giving it a go. I do intend to write more stories in my setting and have a ton of ideas rattling about. But, I told myself and work to hold to it that I will finish the in-progress stuff first.

9078654
Hah, I know the feeling. I'm itching to write a dozen different stories like one about Twilight's Royal Guards, or a EQG story heavily featuring the Sirens, or maybe even try and take a crack at a Conversion Bureau story myself.

But I gotta finish the ones I have first.

Ahhh, a glorious moment well worth the wait. It's always good to see evil overlords getting what's coming to them, such a shame -for him- that Iron Talons decided to do the overlord thing and personally inspect the troops at the worst possible time.

Oh dear the ultimate punishment. This reminds me of what Belgrath did to that Sorcerer who went traitor. shoved deep into stone. At least Steel Talon not immortal and will just die.

my mistake Iron Talons.

I can't say it wasn't an end deserved, but damn...

is this story over? or is it still gonna be continued? I finally decided to give a read to the Cloudyverse, as I have returned to reading fanfiction again, and I have never read more than the first year one.
