Babs Seed has temporarily escaped the bullying she endures at home by visiting her family in Ponyville. She decides to stay an extra week, only to wake up one morning to realize she has gotten her cutie mark. But once she realizes what her "special talent" is, she wishes more than anything to be a blank flank once again.

-This is sort of an alternate ending to what could have happened during the episode "One Bad Apple"-

She's just a bad, bad seed♪

Good twist on Babs Seed.

Is this an alternate ending? Good story

Shoulda figured this would turn up eventually. And it was every bit as predictable as I'd thought it would be. Pass. :trixieshiftright:

Wasn't a bad read. A couple minor mistakes and a very tiny bit of continuity issues, but being the alternate ending who knows.
Good job none the less.

Bit too much telling, rather than showing. But it wasn't advertised as some sort of super-psychological epic or whatnot, so that's entirely forgivable. For the story it is, I enjoyed it. Babs was probably the only 'villain'-character that I don't mind letting off the hook so much.

Also, funny(sad) thought. Babs hadn't prevented any bullying at all, in Manehattan or Ponyville. If it's supposed to be something that she's done regularly, wouldn't it be that her cutie mark means she has a special talent in being bullied? xD

I loved this. A cutiemark in preventing bullying <3

I figured out that the cutie marks meaning could be changed! I'm a princess now! :trollestia: :trollestia:
Actually, I'd rather be Luna.

Definitely shows one more reason why you would want to get the cutie mark thing out of the way -- If sometime you snap and do something you wouldn't normally do, you could find it was one of your possible talents and be stuck with it.

Hey, this is pretty good! Nice way of tying it all back around to the end.

1825170 Yeah like let's say for whatever reason you got a cutie mark in murder, imagine how horrible you'd feel if that happened.

Hey kid your special talent is murdering others, congrats.

1825680

Actually if your talent were murder, you could probably have a real position in the secret services part of the equestrian royal guard.

1825706 Oh I see, still wouldn't change the fact that you'd feel pretty crummy about it unless you had mental issues.

I read somewhere that a Cutie Mark isn't necessarily a mark of a special talent, it can also be the result of one spectacular act (Rainbow Dash's being for her first Sonic Rainboom). That concept is reflected in this story: a pony getting a Cutie Mark that reminds her forever of a supreme act of treachery - turning on one's blood and those who offered you friendship in exchange for artificial and passing popularity with the Mean Girls.

In some ways Babs is a very lucky pony. She has her worst failure there always to remind her of how easy it is to make a terrible mistake that can never be undone. If she remembers that lesson, she will always be a better pony for it.

Yes, I like this. That's why at one point in the story, I mentioned how it's also about your personality traits.

It's not something she's done regularly, but something that she will do in the future. She got her cutie mark from bullying her cousin so terribly, but since that's not who she really is and that all just happened because of the circumstances, she's changing the meaning of her cutie mark to be that she is someone who is going to seek out and try to prevent bullying, or give courage to those who have been victims of it.

Nice idea as it reminds me of another fan-fic staring Scootaloo and Discord and it centers on Scootaloo's cutie mark of betrayal.

This is truly an emotional and yet understanding tale. Bullying is truly a problem in our country and how you centered the subject in the story was heartbreaking.:fluttershysad:

Once again nice job and do keep up the good work on future stories like this one.

Very awesome.

There were some instances where you told instead of showed, and some continuity issues, but it was a good story :pinkiehappy:

Thanks everyone!
Sorry for the continuity issues and I know I told, rather than showed, but it was a bit of a rush piece, just something quick I wanted to get out there.

Thanks for all the positive comments though:twilightsmile:

This story really resonates with me. Seriously. I relate a lot to Babs, because I too was a victim of bullying. And in junior high when I moved to a new school, I was put in a similar situation where I had to choose between being a bully to fit in and unfortunately I chose to be a bully. Not a day after I made that choice I accidentally pushed a blind boy down. I never felt so guilty in my life. :fluttershyouch:

I realize it could've gone a lot farther than that, but I'm glad it happened as it made me realize very quickly that I didn't want to be a bully and I started helping other kids who were being picked on.

This is a great story for anyone who's been bullied and thank you for writing it.

Your statement really touched me. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. :)

Don't change he Cutie Mark, just change the meaning. That's a cute idea and not a bad story to explore it.

Huh. I was almost certain that Bloom had dyed it on her flank.

Well, I suppose she can always join the MPD. Cutie Mark Crusader Police Brutality YAY!

So which pony does she represent in the cutie mark? The yelling foal or the one crying on the ground?

I would've had Babs Seed waking up in a sweat and then crying of the bad dream and Applebloom would've asked her why she was crying and Babs would tell her about the bad dream and how sorry she was and then Applebloom would've hugged Babs all night and assure her that her cutie mark will be special and she is not a bully at all. I know you tried really hard to make the cutie mark tell Babs that while it may represent one thing, it didn't make Babs a bully at all. But I think this is kind of sad in this universe that Babs Seed may not have any friends now. I want to see this is a good story, but it just made me sad about babs Seed.
