Well, right from the beginning, we're crossed over with Babar, and in particular, Babar's Little Girl.
I hesitated at first to list the crossovers since the major ones would basically spell out the plot. So I alphabetized them and threw in the ones that occur in the omake at the end. Now it's not spoilery.
Given that this chapter has twice as many views as the first chapter, it's possible you read chapter 2 first.
If not, you might find that the new beginning is clearer.

It's an accepted part of the world Omar lives in (not the one who plays poker, but the one in the story-in-the-story) that there is a Kingdom of the Elephants, that for us is fictional via the stories of Babar. Chapter 1 shows Omar emerging from the Blue Valley, which intermittently connects to the Land of the Elephants, which connects to sub-Saharan Africa and France, by magic (The Blue valley is from Babar's Little Girl). He'd gone on a nature hike, found that they were in the mystical Blue Valley, pressed on, and there they were.
