Acting on prompts from some writing buddies, I am spending no more than ONE HOUR to write short stories featuring two characters picked by one person, in a setting picked by another.

One hour per chapter. No advance knowledge. No plans, no notes.

All fiction.

Buckle up.

I say! What a spiffing idea!

Ahem.

Anyway, i might try this with my friends sometime, cos its a really good idea. :raritywink:

I see what you did there.

Annoying ... blue ... peg -

Oh. Ohh-oohhh, I get it! I see what you did there, you storytelling genius!

Aww, how nice of that jerk. :pinkiehappy:

Yes, I still think that :trixieshiftleft::trixieshiftright: is a jerk.

I need to watch the new episodes. I'm falling behind... :fluttercry:

All of these are great. I'm impressed. And even cooler is the fact that the stories are concepts that might never have come together without this style of prompt, and yet fit the characters perfectly. I loved the extended innuendo of the Fancy Pants story and the eventual reveal, and the sudden realization at the end of the Hard Knocks story that it's a prequel.

The only part that rubbed me the wrong way was the lack of an explanation for the manticore in the schoolhouse. Having Cheerilee mention that it seemed obvious in hindsight was a decent substitute, but it was still obviously just a substitute for an actual idea. But then, I suppose that can happen if you work within a time limit.

That is perfectly fair about the Cheerilee chapter. They gave me a BASTARD of a prompt that time, so I decided that instead of trying to come up with some half-tailed excuse for it, I would just hang a lampshade on how ludicrous the setup was and work from there. :derpytongue2:

Well, I for one welcome our new flying tortoise overlords.

If you're going to do a wink-wink-nudge-nudge fakeout story, it's important that you make it amusing on it's own merits, beyond the fakeout. This one delivers.

Uh, did you actually READ the chapter? Cause I suspect you might be missing something... :trixieshiftright:

Always good to see more of Matilda and Cranky! And what a devious trick to get Trixie throw her everything into the age spell. Eat your heart out, Sparkle! :trixieshiftright:

“You know,” she said, lowering her voice as she trotted closer to her hero, “I have a history of falling for strong, silent types.” She rested her front hooves on either side of Tank and lowered her mouth to his.

this reference to big mac is awesome
