Still, though. You're ultimately the creator, and the opinions of the masses shouldn't affect you too much in terms of what you want to do. If you want to write grimdark, stuff, write grimdark stuff.
You fans are annoying. Just reading the comments makes me want to facepalm myself a bloody nose. He puts out a story and all you do is bug him about the other story. People really just don't seem to care about the author, it's just the story. I have the same problem with Wrong Hospital. I'm like "Hey guys, go check out Undead Equestria. That's the fic i have worked hardest on." Instead, 40% of the comments on my story are MOAR :pinkiesmileX10. And my other fic is ignored. I'm still amazingly glad I made featured. But bleh, readers are like pirhanahs!
There are certain things an internet writer must come to accept, mate.
About 70% percent of it all is dumbassery.
Not saying that 70% of all the internet users are dumbasses, but their input usually doesn't make a fart of a difference. I take it all in stride most of the time; sometimes I come across a little gem of constructive feedback. They help the most, gotta tell ya, but it's usually, as you said, 
MOAR!!!
Or something to that effect.
My point is, you can't blame the masses for lack of overall intelligence. If they don't prefer this fic, then I'll just keep working on my other one. When that's done, I could probably corral a good deal of them this way, but with that whole "featured box popularity", it's a hit-and-miss; hard to get consistently, unless you're ROB or Cog and have hundreds of followers. Keep writing your stories regardless of the audience size. A small group of readers is better than no readers at all.
I'm similarly disappointed that your first few commenters more or less brushed this off in favor of Name's Ellis. While it's certainly a favorite of mine (first fic I read on this site in fact) this chapter had me hooked and I'm kinda 
that it's on hiatus. The only reason I'd also ask you to get back to Name's Ellis is so you can give this fic your full, undivided attention (though I notice you started another fic in the interim. Hope that works out for you too).
So it looks like you're going with the male human noble eh? Same as me actually. I'm not picky but can we expect a Warden/Morrigan romance on the side (to see if there are any other similarities)? Hopefully Aeus can get his act together soon and get his revenge on Howe (though I'm sure we both know how that goes).
And I'm glad to see Gilda is still, well, Gilda. Dominic really needed to give her that reality check. Maker knows this is just one great big setup for some good old-fashioned character development. Once Gilda is in Ferelden I can only imagine the reactions. One griffin still lives, and it can talk, and she's a total bitch. 
For a character with only one ep under her belt, I can imagine a lot of chemistry between Gilda and the rest of the cast. She and Morrigan will either get along famously or be at each other's throats (Alistair must lament the prospect of hearing "utter shrew" in surround sound once the latter joins the party). She'll probably have to sleep with one eye open once Shale joins the party, being half bird and all (what pet name will Shale come up with for her, I wonder?) and of course, you must have at least one scene where she and Dog get confrontational (everyone else does). To say nothing about how she'll handle the sloth demon nightmare or the Guardian's probing in The Gauntlet.
I'm keeping my eyes on this, even if it is a month or so old. 
P.S. I'm not sure if there's a private messaging system, but if you want to draw more viewers to this fic, I have a suggestion for how you can tie it into Name's Ellis's ending (though it may or may not work depending on what plans you have already).
