57w, 5dPonies in the Real World
I stared blankly up at the sky, just letting what had happened tick over in my head. It's a good thing I was already sitting down when Dash shouted at me; otherwise I would have fallen over in surprise at her out-burst. Why did she shout like that? All I did was ask her why she thought it was here fault that the Pinkie Copter crashed; no one can predict the weather over the Everfree Forest. I just hoped she would be alright, I would have gone after her but I can't fly, it's not every day I have to deal with stuff like this.
I quietly packed up the picnic gear I had already laid out, while occasionally hearing a sob or two from the sky. After I finished packing up the stuff I walked out to the middle of the park, looking at where I thought Rainbow Dash might of been. I called up to her calmly, "IF YOU NEED A PLACE TO STAY FOR THE NIGHT, YOU KNOW WHERE I AM." I hoped that she might reply but all I received was more crying, and I think I heard her say 'go away' at one point, but it could of just been a quiet sob. As I said earlier, I'm no good at this.
I started my walk home, in the hopes of clearing my head, but all I could think about was Dash. Why was I caring so much? This could have happened to anybody. Sure, yeah, I'm grateful that the universe picked me, but why me? My thoughts were pretty much just this on my way home, until I reached my front door; it was open.
Two words just happened to echo throughout my neighbourhood at that moment. The first is one way of describing the appearance of Swiss cheese, the other a rather rude name for final out-come of eaten food. I seemed to be doing a lot of shouting that day.
I darted inside, searching each room downstairs hoping to find everything still in place and nothing missing. Luckily nothing had been taken, but I could of sworn I heard some foot-steps up stairs... foot-steps? They sounded more like clacking against the wooden flooring almost as if the intruder was wearing wooden clogs. I light-footedly made my way into the kitchen and pulled the largest knife I could find out the cutlery drawer, removing it from its plastic cover and placing it down lightly onto the table. Won't be needing that, I thought as I made my way back out of the kitchen as stealthily as I could. Having reached the bottom of the stairs, I muted my breathing and listened out for more sounds - anything that might have gave me an advantage when confronting the intruder.
I rested my back against the hallway, so I didn't have to stand for long (What? I'm lazy. Deal with it.), which was a bad idea because as I put my weight against the wall the thin paint cracked. Damn interior decorators.
I heard the intruder angrily whisper to a partner in-crime. "Shhhh... I think somepony's downstairs!"
Damn, that means there are two of them, I told myself. I started my way up the stairs, listening out for any more sounds that the thieves were making. I edged my way around the balcony as I looked around to see which rooms had been left open, thankfully it appeared that the 'house guests' had only entered my room. The only thing of any value in there was my P.C., but it was a terrible computer I wouldn't really mind getting stolen - If they could get past the password then they were in for a shock... I'm not going into detail on the matter. After edging my way to the bedroom door, I raised the knife and peeked through the gap in the hinges. Dear Celestia was I in for a shock.
"SURPRISE!"
"WHAT THE F..." I dropped the knife, narrowly missing my left foot. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT? I NEARLY LOST MY FAVOURITE FOOT! I NEED THAT TO WALK!" I was too enraged by the fact I nearly lost a limb to notice who I was shouting at, while Pinkie Pie slowly receded from me in terror with every word I screamed. The other intruder was mortified at my shouting, staring wide-eyed at me. I eventually calmed down enough to notice the fact that Pinkie was nearly on the verge of crying, and that I was shouting at the party pony in the first place.
Oh my god. I'm a monster. I've just shouted at Pinkie Pie. "I'm so sorry Pinkie; I didn't realize it was you! Please don't start crying, Dash has already done enough of that today... Please forgive me." I begged for forgiveness, while what I just said was setting-in for the purple mare in the room.
"Wait, did you say 'Dash'? Where is she?" Twilight asked excitedly, the thought of seeing her missing friend seemed to make her forget about the one I was apologizing to just then.
"Yeah, she's feeling pretty bad about herself right now though, I would have stayed with her but she wanted to be left alone... Wait a sec... Twilight!?" Having three ponies was too much for me, so I did what any fan-boy would do and blacked out. How manly of me.
I woke up some time later unsure as to what had happened, only to find myself on the guest bed and unable to move. I cast my eyes down to see a purple aura lightly glowing around my body. Explains the movement issues. I scanned the room, taking in everything I could see. Door, bed, bedside-table/drawer, Pinkie Pie, clothing drawer... Wait, Pinkie Pie? Oh yeah... I mentally face-palmed and remembered what had happened earlier.
"So who are you, how do you know us and where's Rainbow Dash?" I was surprised at how scary Twilight had managed to sound when she asked me those questions; it seemed so out of character.
"I'll tell you everything when I re-gain control of my body. I pinkie-promise that I won't hurt anypony"
"You can't win me over that easily. For all I know you could be concealing more knives or harmful weapons." Twi was seriously good at the whole interrogation thing. She was straight to the point.
I whined back, "but I pinkie-promised!"
Before Twilight could say anything, Pinkie butted in for me. "It did Pinkie promise, Twilight! I would let the thing go, we want to know where Dashie is!"
"It may know where Dash is, but what if it tries to attack us? We don't know what it's capable of," Twilight replied, in a matter-of-fact tone.
Ugh. 'It' was starting to get annoying. "Before either of you two ponies start talking again, 'it' is actually a 'he', and 'he' would prefer to be addressed as such. If you want anything out of me, You're gonna have to drop the spell. I promise I won't hurt anypony."
The purple unicorn just stared at me blankly. "You think you can win us over that easily?"
"Yeah, pretty much. There's that, and the fact I know where Rainbow Dash is. What will I have to do to convince you?"
Twilight contemplated my offer for a few seconds, before speaking up. "Prove to us that you know where Dash is, and I'll drop the spell."
I just couldn't help myself and smirked. This was a doozy. "Look in the drawer by the bed, you should find one of her feathers," I replied, "I think she's moulting." I kept everything of personal value in that draw, and the feather I slipped up on that morning was no exception.
Pinkie attempted to open up the bedside-table, but eventually gave up due to a lack of hands. Twilight just sighed, before opening up the drawer using magic. Sure enough, the sky-blue feather was revealed.
"That enough proof for you? I'd like my hands back please."
Frustrated, Twilight removed the spell binding me to the bed, allowing me to sit up properly. "Right, now I can move again you can get your information. Was trusting me really that hard?"
"You shouted at Pinkie and nearly reduced her to tears, why should I trust you?"
"Aww come on! I said I was sorry! I nearly lost a foot, surely that's enough reason to shout at somepony!" I was picking up the species-based mannerisms rather quickly.
"I suppose... But you didn't have to keep screaming at the top of your lungs." Twi did have a point, but I wasn't thinking straight when I shouted.
"Fine" I sulked while turning to the pink pony. "I'm sorry for shouting at you Pinkie. I didn't mean to nearly make you cry"
The mare giggled. "Apology accepted!"
"Can we forgive and forget now? You two are ponies I don't want grudges held with."
"Yes, please, do go on." Twilight seemed to lighten up after my apology, which was a good thing.
"Do you want the short answer or the long explanation? Dash didn't seem like she was going anywhere when I left her, so I think we should have enough time," I asked hoping they would want the long answer, just so I could put on my story telling voice and make the whole thing sound ten times more awesome. Unfortunately for I, the unicorn just wanted to get it over and done with so she could see her friend sooner. "Well, long story short, I'm Alex, Rainbow Dash woke up in my bed after you crashed, I cheered her up, we did some stuff, we went out for a picnic - her idea by the way, she got upset when I asked about the crash and now she's blaming herself for the whole thing. Right now she's up in the clouds above the picnic area, want to go see her? She could do with the cheering up."
"Yay! We can finally see Dashie!" Pinkie bounced her way out of my room, and all the way down to the front door, only to notice that Twilight and I had not followed her. She called up the stairs frustrated, "You two coming or what?", waiting for a reply.
"Yeah, give us a second!" I called back to her. There was one thing I wanted to ask Twilight before we left, and that was how they got in the house.
"That was easy, a simple unlock spell did the job" She replied. Forever over-powered, was there any magic she couldn't do?
"I thought so. We better not keep Pinkie waiting, let's go." We both made our way downstairs, to find an annoyed pink pony waiting for us.
"What took you two so long? I was getting bored," Pinkie asked.
"Eh, I only wanted to know how you two got in. Let's go meet up with Dash." I replied, as I opened the front door for the two mares. "Ladies first" I told them aloud.
On the way up to the park, I had so many questions for Twilight, but I didn't want to give away the fact that I knew pretty much everything about them before they got to know me better - If they stayed long enough. The one thing I was dreading was having to see them leave, without anything to remember them by. I just hoped Dash was still there when we arrived.
