In cannon, spike would not grow with time, as dragons grow by collecting things, (as observed in 'secret to my exess) also He wouldnt have wings because he's an earth dragon.

HOWEVER

The great thing about fanfiction is that you can throw cannon out the window if you so choose. IF and only if, its in the cause for a better story.

And this I can tell, IS A GOOD BUCKIN' STORY.

Determamfidd:  Just want to say that you've been a big inspiration to me.  I hope that I can do pillar community authors like you justice in my own writing.  Anyone can put words in a character's mouth, but your dialogue resounds with the wisdom of a sharp-eyed humanist, and a person worth learning from.  It's this promise of deeper truths that sucks a reader into a novel faster than any action or fancy description.  The emotions in this story are real and authentic.  The humor is clever.  The advice that the mentor characters give is good advice, not just obvious advice.  Spike makes a charming and admirable hero.  This story is entertaining, unpredictable, and thought provoking.  But most importantly, it is true.

This was honestly great. I stayed up till 2 in the morning reading this, then finished this morning. I honestly can say this is by far one of my most cherished fictions and I really hope you continue to post these masterpieces on Fimfiction.

and the 6th manly tear was shed for this story, and thought reading this might be a distraction from something that should have me in tears, all of aforementioned manly tears wear shed due to the story. good story so far.

This is brilliant, I started from chap 1 and a few, quiet a few hours later finished, I already threw my stars at it.

Wow

I find that many people get Fluttershy somewhat wrong. She's a bit more assertive in the episodes, and not quite so "if you want to, that is". Makes her sound too meek.

Anyways, nice story so far. It'll be interesting to see the rest.

This story was absolutely amazing.  So amazing I stayed up about 3 hours later than I should have.

But even if I sleep through all my classes tomorrow, I'll still probably consider staying up to read this totally worth it.

I had never heard of this fic, and now I see just how much i've missed out. This is more on the lines of a fully-fledged publication as opposed to a fanfic freely available on the internet. Sir, you have shocked me. There are no compliments I could pay you or this work that have not already been said, so...well done.

Wow. just...wow. Gotta say. This is the only story I have ever read where I have caught myself  ranting about a situation within lol. Spent  HOOOOOOOOOURS reading this and loved every second of it . Frankly I was sad to see it end

Just discovered this the day before last and blew through every chapter with an insatiable desire to finish (I'm not lying when i say I was literally up all night finishing the last of it). I just wanted to say this is probably the best, and I mean THE best, and most heart warming, sensitive story about Spike I've read. It's also the only 'time skip' story I've ever really loved. So many deal with sad 'endings' that I'd almost given up hope for an upbeat one, but you really did an amazing job here.

I'm not going to lie, there were many times I cried while reading this (that may not hold weight since I'm an brony who's not afraid to cry at sentimental scenes, but it's true), but unlike other stories I cried because I was simply so moved by the scenes. The characters felt so real and alive. It was wonderful.

Any words I can think of to describe this emotional roller coaster simply pale before the truth of it. This has been an excellent story and I'm claiming it as one of my favorites I intend to reread when the mood arises. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome creation of yours and taking so much time and putting so much love into this story's creation. It's truly an inspiration. So... Thank you.
