A pony is the collection of her experiences. But what if all of those experiences never occurred? As Pinkie's reality falls apart and gives way to a much less party-filled world, she will have to ask herself: who was I, who am I, and who should I be?
I'm loving this so far. I hate the fact that bad things have happened to Pinkie, but the way you are taking this is very interesting. I mean, how in Equestria did she imagine everything about her life in Ponyville to the degree of accuracy that seems present? Is it a part of her Pinkie sense showing her what should have been? Is it just some random magical buildup or something? Is Trollestia or Discord striking again? Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. I wish you the best of luck in writing it!
To be fair, the original comic gave a pretty good foundation for a story, and it would have been difficult to ruin it. Still, you are doing a great job expanding it. I really wonder about the strange fact that her friends actually exist without knowing her... But I guess we'll see, right? Or not. I'm fine with whatever you got in store for us.
Thanks for liking it. It was my first attempt at writing anything other than a crappy Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfic in 4th grade.
The next chapter will be done in probably a month and a half. I work slow, have tonnes of stuff IRL to do and for this chapter I have just a vague idea of what to do. Wish me luck!
Oh, boy, this one's gonna be rough. I can feel it in my literature bone. But more than that, I can tell this is gonna be really REALLY good, because already it's off to a good start. You know how to set up a scene, and have flow, and have just enough insight for Pinkie and Clyde to be engaging and informative, but not exposition-ey. The worst thing about it is it's short and it look like I'm in for quite a wait before the next part. I shall await upon pins and needles.

I'm a little confused, and I'm not sure how to explain why. That paragraph in italics threw me way off. Is she recovered or not? Granny Pie said “I’m sorry, dear, but your father and I weren’t expecting you to come back to us after all these years.” but the paragraph in italics still shows her acting sick. Is some of the dialogue in Pinkie's mind fake or what she's hearing and she's interpreting it differently (basically what we're reading)?
Argh! Maybe I'm just thinking too hard. I'm sure another chapter will clear up this haze. *nudge nudge wink wink* Looking forward to the next!
Oh my Faust... Luna is dead in this timeline, isn't she? 
Without the Element of Laughter, the Mane 5 were forced to end Nightmare Moon's life via more material means, leaving `Tia's 1000 year plan to save her sister a complete and total failure. Twilight stays in Ponyville for a time to give `Tia space to greave, and to contemplate the blood on her hooves. Given that Twilight has apparently left at this point, I have no clue if she is on walkabout, moved onto greener pastures, or if `Tia has called her back to her side, clinging to the mare she practicly rased as her own daughter to fill the void left by her sister's death.
The BIG twist will be that THIS Pinkie is actually braindead, and has been paraspriting higher brain functions from a Pinkie Pie a few realities over.
Let me guess...
Pinkie did live her life as she remembers, but something happened to her body then.
She is now in the body of her counterpart in a different dimension/universe as well.
One that was somehow linked to her in her own reality, repeating her words there.
Now she is awake in her counterpart's body, her original body destroyed... and trapped there.

I haven't gotten that far yet. Despite having an [alternate universe] tag, it doesn't mean it takes place in a multiverse. There will be no dimension hopping. To me it makes magic seem too powerful if ponies can easily dimension hop like in "On a Cross and Arrow." (I liked that story BTW, I just don't like that plot device.) So it probably won't be that exact thing.

The original ending I imagined had to do with the very Mary Sueish ending of the Princess fixes everything and then the who things turns out to be a dream within a dream. I'll think of something better later.

Either way, it's well written and makes you care about Pinkie's story.
There can be a lot of theories as to what's going on, just keep in mind the readers will pick apart every little plot detail in a fic like this.
For instance, the 3 big plot points for me right now that will give me the best indication of what's going on are:
That Pinkie's memories of her time in Ponyville are accurate. This means that either reality has changed leaving her aware or it's all in her head still.
That the "damaged" Pinkie was muttering things about "parties". This shows that unless it's still all in Pinkie's head there is some connection between her 2 selves.
That she recovered from PHYSICAL brain damage. This is the one I'm not sure what to think about. The elements of Harmony could do this, otherwise it's altering reality or again, all in her head.

Just to give you a little sneak peek:
Chapter 1: Hi. I'm Pinkie Pie!
Chapter 2: My name is Twilight Sparkle.
Chapter 3: You can call me Inkie.
Chapters 2 & 3 I'm working on together but will probably be a week or more in difference between their release. They also rely heavily on dialogue so it might take some extra time to get that prettied up.
There are a few plot holes in the first chapter I'm going to have to resolve. The changes will be made at the same time that the new chapter is posted. You won't need to reread anything, but I'm doing it for the sake of consistency.

I picked Pinkie because she was the subject of the comic that this fic is based off of and because she has a well established insanity fandom that I can use and come up with new content for. Don't worry, it will have a happy ending.
Also, as a random side note.
I'm not exactly taking a break from this fic, but I have some ideas for a backstory fic and a Berry Punch fic. I'll be coming up with ideas for them all simultaneously. But this one will be my main focus!
I can't wait to see more. If she's never left the farm since her illness, how can she know about all of the other ponies and other stuff? And how will Pinkamina react to finding out about all of those years being a lie? And will Twilight's "big helmet head scanner thingy" give some answers?
The premise is a sneaky one, but I didn't know how it could be spun into a full fic - well, you _found_ a way and the tragedy of Pinkie having no idea what's happened, and the quite eerie mystery of how she knows so much about Ponyville, is engrossing stuff. Especially when the two collide: the scene with Scootaloo was a sad 'un. 
Okay, time to update you on some things...
@DarkAngel Yes, the head scanner will do something and will introduce a new magic mechanic.
@Charles RB You found the Scootaloo scene sad? I was just writing it as set up for later chapters. I suppose it may drive home the point that it is a world without Pinkie, and that could be sad. dunnobro
As for updates, some good news and some bad news. Bad news: I haven't done much writing for this story (about a page and a half in all this time). Good news: I have whats going to happen in this chapter down, now all I have to do is write it, flesh it out, and review it; the update is probably still 3-4 weeks away, though.
Another piece of good news: last week wasn't a total loss; I was working on a small writing exercise. The Last Battle It was to practice dialogue. Go have a look.
I thought there were some other things I was going to say but I guess I forgot.
Oh yeah, I'll be working on the story tonight (I'm finally in the mood for it and have nothing left to do but write.)
EDIT: I'm over 1,600 word for this chapter, it's also shaping up to be a shorter chapter (probably about 2,000 - 2,500 words). Maybe now my brain will let me think beyond the end of this chapter. I also have a relativity empty day tomorrow, so I may get some more done. Absolute best case scenario is that I have it done and submitted to some review place on /fic/ by tomorrow night. Hope for the best.
Not for awhile. I'm only a little over half way done with this chapter, then it needs to be edited. Sorry about the wait.

So Spike stopped existing after one line... funny I thought this story was about Pinkie Pie not existing.
That aside the story's pretty good, but you have a lot of plot holes to fill if you're going to convince me that everything could work out the same way if Pinkie wasn't there; Fluttershy somehow not getting killed by the Hydra, Glida and Rainbow's friendship interfering with the group, Fluttershy not staying a fashion model, the buffalo going to war on Appaloosa... etc. etc. but I guess that alternate universe tag could just mean 'I don't feel like making real reasons, have some nonsense.' ...I hope not.
Ahh, good. When I read the first chapter I was concerned that this would be a fic along the lines of "all the nice things about FiM weren't really real and the world actually just sucks." I've seen fanfics like that before and they leave me bleh even if they're well written. But now I can clearly see that something more interesting than that is going on. And more importantly, at least Twilight is also aware that something interesting is going on. Which means she won't rest until she gets to the bottom of it.
You don't have to apologize for the chapter being shorter. I prefer quality over quantity. If anything, I consider the length to be a good average chapter size.
Poor Pinkamina doesn't realize that her entire life was nothing but a dream and that there's something wrong with her. But the life she lived in her head seems to have some truth to it. It seems that Pinkamina has some sort of psychic ability. She knew things that she couldn't have possibly known.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
MAN I been so busy lately I didn't have time to read your updated chapter until now. This is quit interesting. I didn't know how to make out of it sense you base it on a comic didn't like. However I really do enjoy your story so fare and please keep up the good work.

There a few things to fix eventually, meaning Spike disappearing (thanks for pointing that out).
This chapter will explain the mechanic of Omega Waves. I hope you like the explanation. I know sometimes that explaining magic can turn people off to a fic, I just hope that doesn't happen.
I'm not really sure of the chapter length or the timeframe that it will be out. You might want to plan on two mini-chapters released together. It will probably take a few weeks, but hopefully not as long as last time. I have all Spring Break to write.
Hopefully I'll be able to think up something good in the coming weeks, I'm kind of blank right now.
