Nothing against those who use a lot of description themselves, but it's not my style. So a sequel seemed the way to go. I have to say, I was worried Spike was going to get screwed over so hard I'd have a new hole in my wall from my head bashing into it, when I saw he was having a sleepover with the CMC; however, this chapter has qualmed that concern nicely. In fact, Spike and Twilight had the best part of the chapter, couldn't stop laughing. You really hit the sarcastic nature of Spike dead on, and while I ain't terribly interested in the TwiMac, I look forward to see how the rest plays out.

Hmmmmmm... now might be a good time for Rarity to finally take notice of Spike

Even that can be bad though, take AJ and Rarity, they share no common interest to talk about or share, but their work is their lives and they couldn't have both a farm that requires the majority of their attention and a striving fashion career that often requires travel and complete concentration.

I really don't see a pitfall to Mac and Twi like that though. Although, when it comes to kids, Mac would want them to work the farm while Twi would want them to be as absorbed in their studies as she was. Something to think about, I suppose.

Actually, I consider myself a student of human nature, having spent many years seeing the worst at their best and the best at their worst. (And sometimes, even being aa part of both best/worst groups)

So I tend to see things, possibilities and such. Also, pairing RD with an egghead other than Twilight is quite out-of-the-box, so it fals into the realm of where I prefer to be.

Hayseed Turnip Truck was a character specifically invented to mirror everything Rarity is embarrassed about herself and the parts of her life she reviles. He is on par with Blueblood-as-he-currently-is on the "ain't gonna happen" scale. Friendship between the two would take substantial character growth on her part, but he is far too contrary to her aesthetics, goals, and personality for anything more to bloom there, outside of a 1-shot crack-fic.

I do not intend to anger you, but you may use me as a devil's advocate. IF you are going to do a hayseed X rarity ship, these are points that you will NEED to address. Well.

Hayseed, as he appears in the show, is a hick with no social graces. The defences for the ship that you have suggested makes more sense for an Applejack X Hayseed ship than anything, and even then you'd have to establish more firmly that he actually fits the merits you have suggested. Rarity is more of a romantic than a practical mare, so he will need to sweep her, and us, off her hooves. Her friends are likely to be as confused by this state of affairs as I am, perhaps going so far as to confuse her for a changeling or for someone under a love potion.

Ultimately, Rarity has been established as wanting to marry Prince Charming. Hayseed Turnip Truck is less of an ass than Blueblood, I'll grant you, but no-one would ever describe him as having social graces, or handsomeness, or basic hygene.

She may enjoy his company, as he is still a good pony, but as she is, even with the character growth that STARTED in the episode, they would be friends at best. Particularly since the 'Dear Friends' slot for a hardworking pony who is a bit lacking in the social graces has already been filled by Applejack.

Then again in cartoons visuals for someone being unhygienic is usually for them to have stink lines or flies flying around him. And sure he was clumsy in that one scene, but he could've picked up some basic manners in Canterlot. Also he's not some slacker pony, to me he came off as one of those try hard workers doing his very best. I've also pointed out that he's been back for a while in Ponyville so that would mean this story takes pace probably well over a year after the events of Sweet and Elite, probably more like 2 years or something. So there is time between then and now for Rarity to have had some bad relationships. And I don't wanna hear the we never saw indications of that from the show, because the show doesn't keep total detailed continuity. After all we hear nothing of Princess Cadence of Shining Armor till the second seasons finale. And while that was a great finale, there's no denying it was sloppy in terms of development. Like Twilight's song about how much she loves her brother, while a sweet song, would have had way more emotional backing had we actually known this character existed beforehand and seen some flashbacks or episodes with him appearing. There's also her excitement over him marrying Cadence and her being Twilight's foal sitter, we never saw any indications of this. By most accounts of the first season especially they seemed to imply Twilight never did much playing like most kids, and just read and or studied all the time. In fact the Queen Chrysalis/Princess Cadence song has more impact from the villain side mainly because she's just evil and getting to take over while Cadence's lament and love for Shining Armor really doesn't have as much impact because we know very little. There's no doubt that the show is well written, but there are for sure moments of inconsistent character traits and things that really don't make sense to the overall mythos of the show. I've read plenty of fan fic where they don't totally go with the known character traits. This is all speculative things that I'm writing down. Not to spoil, but I do plan to show that Hayseed isn't just some country bumpkin, that he has a certain charm to him. One appearance is not enough to judge a character. There are charming country folk (ie The Apple Family) and there are asshole high class folk (ie Prince Blueblood). Also in Hayseed's brief appearance he's praising Rarity, while in Prince Blueblood's lengthy moment onscreen we see that he is a rich spoiled douche bag. And sure she's established as wanting to marry a prince charming, but that can change. After all, Rainbow Dash never thought she'd get a pet without it being able to fly, and she ends up picking a tortoise (who we haven't seen since the find a pet episode, which was a real early season 2 episode). So in the end, I can see your point, but then again opinions can change on what they want in life, depending on circumstances. And while her friends would find it odd that she's falling for a simple country colt, I doubt they'd think she was a changeling. They've known her long enough that they would know if something was off.
